I went over this past memorial weekend and had a great time enjoying their outside patio. It was really easy to make reservations, we chose 11:30 which was their earliest time. The set up is pretty easy, we ordered our food first and then sat down and ordered our wine. Their tasting is pretty unique, it's 4 different tastings instead of the usual 6, it was $20 for the regular tastings and they had a option for premium tastings which was alittle more pricier. It came in little shot glasses and a wine glass so you can pour your tasting yourself, I really liked the idea because you can pour as much or little as you want and enjoy it. I enjoyed sitting in the big patio, there was a water fountain there and it felt so peaceful. I would definitely come back. read more

A little over one year later, I returned to Monte De Oro to see if it had improved any from my last visit. Unfortunately, it didn't. My friend and I tried six wines, and poured five of the six out. The only one that we both thought was tolerable was the Muscat. We stuck to whites on this trip, and all of them tasted very similar. All of them had a distinct mineral taste to the finish, which we did not enjoy. This time, I cannot say that I will return, there are too many other, better, wineries in the area that I would rather give $10 to. read more

Everyday is a 5 star day at Monte de Oro. Beautiful weather, beautiful place, enjoying a nice glass of delicious Syrah. Sunday, June 5th, we are here again today for wine and lunch. There are a few new staff here and it seems they may be in a transition. We ordered lobster and shrimp tacos and grilled chicken panini. After some confusion we received what we ordered. Chicken panini had cheese only on one side of the sandwich and was very spicy. The chicken was cooked perfectly. The side salad was way over dressed. The tacos were mainly shrimp, not so much lobster. We had a taste of reserved Cabernet thanks to Jerry, the new manager here, and it was lovely. We had the Syrah with our lunch, and as always it was wonderful. read more

Overall, super pretty views and good price for wine tasting. You get to pick any 4 wines to taste for $16 (except the premium or dessert wines). Some of them were good, some were okay. None were amzing, none were horrible. I liked the cuvee and the syrah. We ended up getting a bottle of cuvee to drink after the tasting. The food was pretty meh. My husband got the club sandwich and said it was not good at all. The fries were okay nothing special. I tried the pesto chicken flatbread which was actually pretty good, but the caesar salad and margerita flatbread looked very meh. read more

We had a really unfortunate experience here on Mother's Day (2021). I was glad I snagged reservations a couple weeks prior on Open Table, because obviously reservations are hard to come by for Mother's Day brunch! It was a beautiful day, so there's that! And the staff told us they had just brought in all the fresh flower pots, which were gorgeous, specifically for Mother's Day (kudos there). Before we sat down, we were directed to a hostess stand, where we stood and ordered right there before being seated. We had to order from a special holiday menu which really didn't have many options...I remember maybe 4 or 5 entrees. We asked the hostess for a recommendation, and she said "Honestly I haven't tried any of this because it's a new menu." I don't blame her for being honest, but that was very unhelpful. My mom ordered french toast and asked for a side of bacon, which they said they couldn't do (??). My sister ordered meatballs (which ended up being the best choice out of the 4 of us), and asked for a side of fries. That was fine, but she was told it was $8 extra for fries...WOW! She wanted them so badly, she agreed. (This comes into play later...) Then they take our credit card info immediately, and tell us they will start our bill with our payment info now, and they will add any drinks that we order later, once we're seated. Weird... We sat down. My mom tried to order coffee....and our waiter tells us, NO COFFEE. What?!?! This is brunch!! No coffee. I got a wine flight, which I was excited about until I saw the horrendous plastic case it came in. Literally it was a plastic bucket of some sort (the size of a small planter), with jagged-cut circles to place the glasses in (picture included). Very weird and not sophisticated looking at all. My turkey croissant sandwich came...the croissant was not fresh, warm or flaky, as ones usually are. It was hard and cold, like it had been in the refrigerator overnight & just been pulled out. Honestly I believe this was actually the case. I think the whole sandwich was pre-made and pulled directly from the refrigerator because it came out insanely fast and I imagine they were worried about the Mother's Day rush and so they pre-made one of the very few meal selections and planned to just get them out as fast as possible. The turkey was not fresh, it was like sandwich meat sliced turkey from my childhood sandwiches. Hardly ate any of it. As we're all eating, my sister is enjoying her meatballs but the fries haven't come. She reminded the waiter when he initially dropped off her plate and he said he would get them.....10 minutes goes by and we have to flag someone else down to ask about her fries. That woman says she'll tell our waiter. The waiter comes back and tells us that the chef is REFUSING to make my sister a side order of fries, because if he did it for her, he would need to do it for everyone!! WHAT THE HECK!!! I have NEVER heard such a snobby, unaccommodating remark from a chef. Mind you, we had "approved" the fry order from the hostess and waiter, but the chef refused. AND the fries were already on our bill. Insane! Our waiter of course assured us that the fries would be taken off the bill and he comp'd her whole meal which was very nice of him. How humiliating though for the young waiter to have to come tell us that the chef was refusing to make fries like some tyrant. Honestly, one thing after another after another...I felt humiliated for being the one who chose this place for Mother's Day. My mom loves being taken out and treated and this was such a let down. They get 2 stars because the waiter was nice enough (it wasn't his fault the chef was rude) and because they gave a bottle of 2017 Merlot complimentary to every mother, which I drank and it was DELICIOUS. And the ambiance was lovely. But WOW was the dining experience terrible. Too bad! read more

This winery is right above Wilson Creek, so I thought I would give it a try. After enjoying the view, the next thing I noticed were the ample amount of parking. It's nice to see a winery that planned for the future since so many do not have enough parking. The open and spacious Tuscan style building was beautiful. They have a giant wall of windows overlooking their patio, a stretched fountain and some of their vines. There is a lot of light bouncing off of the beautifully tiled floor. There is a section of etched glass floor where you can look down into the barrel room, so I give them kudos for an original idea. They have three tasting counters to choose from. Two inside, and one outside. There are tables inside where you can stand and enjoy your wine and there are plenty of tables outside so you can sit and enjoy the view including a very beautiful fountain. You walk in and pay for your tasting, which includes a 6 tastes for $10.00 dollars or if you know what you like, you can get a 6 oz. glass of wine instead. The tasting does not include the glass which it should since it's a good marketing technique in my opinion. There are also cheese and meat trays you can purchase if you so choose. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. They were happy to talk about the wines and the winery which is how I found out they've only been open since November 2009. I think they have better red wines than white. My favorites were the 2006 Zinfandel, and the 2005 Synergy (Red Blend). I also enjoyed their Muscat Canelli which wasn't too sweet, but just right. Their other white wines were not memorable or remarkable for my taste. With time, they will hopefully get better. For some good red wines, a nice ambiance and a friendly staff, give this winery a try, you might be happy you did. read more

I will add more to this review later, but I have been a member here for close to 3 years now and am so disappointed at the lack of care taken with their landscaping and grounds of the winery. My husband and I love the wine here and the food, but the last few times we have been here, we notice more and more the lack of groundskeeping. Weeds, dying bushes, and decorative rocks that need to be added. Such a shame! I hope they fix this, because you come to a winery to relax and enjoy the scenery! UPDATE- we cancelled our membership. The view and atmosphere at Leoness sold us! I hope Monte De Oro truly gets on their game and fixes their grounds and landscaping, because their wines are great! This review is solely based on their wine club. We joined in November and completed the 2 wine shipments per the contract. I canceled in January and sent an email to the person who confirmed our membership originally. I then get an email this week notifying me of charging me for the next club shipment. I emailed them twice asking for them to cancel as I Gave them enough time in January to cancel. I even placed a call to the winery and the voicemail box I got was the person I initially canceled my membership to in January and left a voicemail advising them to cancel my membership. I have had ZERO response. The charge has now gone through on my credit card and they will be hearing from capital one disputing the charges. Brittany Roderick is just about the best event planner I've ever encountered: she was kind, efficient, helpful, and effective. She listened to how I wanted to honor my dad, and she took charge to make planning so much easier for me. The whole team was professional, and they all helped me navigate some fairly tricky social issues with the attendees and the flow of the event. The food was customized to some of my dad's favorites, and the team made me feel at ease before and the day of. BEST WINES IN ALL OF TEMECULA!!!! There were 40 of us, and you would have never known by the wonderful way we were treated, we were all made to feel so special! Their wine is like being in Napa, it doesn't even compare to the other wineries in Temecula, that was the general consensus from the group. I loved the wines so much, I joined their Black Label Reserve wine club! Matt, Wine Club Manager has been wonderful to work with, and had no problem switching out 2 of my red wines for another one, Vigna Vicini, which I was crazy about, their Synergy, Cabernet Franc and Simplexity were also exceptional and a must try on your visit here. Jordan their Wine Room Manager made sure we were all served our tastings together and arranged for us to have a private banquet room for all of us to enjoy our lunches together. I had their Salmon on a plank with asparagus and it could have come from a gourmet restaurant it was so delicious. I did not hear one complaint and it was hard to believe how they all came out of the kitchen about the same time. I was lucky enough to meet the Owner of the winery, Kyle and his wife, who were so personable, walking around the wine room greeting and mingling with all their guests while sharing their great story of how they invested in this winery and what their favorites were. The grounds are gorgeous, the winery is large with fountains and a huge tasting room with terrific employees that see to your every need. This is a first stop for lunch and tastings on every trip we make, we hired a bus that fits 40 and already we are planning our next trip to Monte de Oro winery! My first visit to Monte De Oro was a lot of fun. My friends and I visited earlier on a Saturday, ordered lunch from their bistro menu, and enjoyed our tastings. The view was great and there was even a live musician. The wine was actually pretty good, but I think the company made the whole experience a great one. This was a year ago, so the tasting fee was $12 at the time and the wine was better. Fast forward to my recent experience this year and the tasting was unimpressive. First off, many of the wines were unavailable to taste. Secondly, the pourers really didn't engage and talk about the wines, they just poured and wanted you to move away from the bar. There really wasn't any seating available and it took quite some time to get our black label tastes. The black label wines weren't that impressive either, nor were the other wines I tasted. Service was lacking here and the wines just weren't as good as I remembered. It may have been an off day for them, but I likely won't be back. They do have a cool glass floor that you can see down into their barrel room though. read more

Very beautiful grounds. I chose to come here because we had some wine tasting vouchers. The tasting room appeared busy but it was mainly because everyone was at the bar, but there were plenty of tables and outdoor seating (but the doors were closed, so not sure if they were allowing that). They have a cute wine shop when you first walk in, and a glass floor that you can see the barrel room below you- be forewarned, anyone down there can see up as well (ladies AND gents make sure your dress is appropriate when stepping or standing over it). The wines were not my favorite, but it still was enjoyable to try some new ones. They didn't have a set tasting, so you have plenty of whites and reds to choose from. They have limited bar snacks during the week, but the menu for the weekend looked delicious. I'm only rating scenery and the Overall atmosphere This winery hosted the Run Like a Diva special race in Temecula. The winery is in the middle of Temecula wine country and sits at the top of a small hill. Many of the wineries in this are sit a top a hill. It's a very beautiful winery with a tasting room and an outside patio. Since I was there for a running race the inside of the tasting room was closed, but the patio was open. The scenery is beautiful and that morning there was a hot air balloon rise. So the hot air balloons over the vineyard was great look. There are several other wineries around the area, so plan an afternoon around wine country. There was parking around the base of the winery but seems as those guests would have to walk up a small hill. There seemed to be a drop off awning too for those who need. Unfortunately with Lent I couldn't sample the wine, but they had a variety of whites and reds. I can't wait to go back and sample their wine. Cheers! read more

Monte De Oro was one of my favorite spots during a recent bachelorette trip through Temecula wineries. The views were amazing and could be enjoyed from the spacious patio that has plenty of tables, chairs, and umbrellas. The tasting room has a glass floor in the center that allows guests to have a look at the wine cellar from a different perspective. We came on a Wednesday so didn't have to worry about any crowds. There was only one tasting bar which I can imagine can get crowded quickly on the weekends, but we had quick, efficient and friendly service the entire time! Rebecca and Brad served us throughout our visit and were really friendly and engaged with our group. We were unable to try the food because the kitchen isn't open every day of the week, but they have a full menu for end of week and weekend visitors. You can even poke around the gift shop for win themed gifts and accessories. While the vines are older, the facility is new providing a modern and well thought out experience. I can see why they host weddings and special events here often. The grounds are picturesque and the staff are all dedicated to creating an enjoyable visit no matter if it is for a tasting, meal, or event. read more

I have been having the hardest time cancelling this membership. In March I thought I was finally done, guess not. Tonight received an email stating I was being charged for another shipment. How? I had email proof from the wine club manager that my membership was cancelled. Of course they send these emails the night before the charge is to go through. Also its after hours and no-one is available to help. My reason for leaving the winery in the first place was the bad customer service we received twice while visiting the winery. Bad first impression, great customer service from a select few. Visited this winery on February 13th in the afternoon, it was not busy when we arrived and we purchased the 9-wine tasting option. Got to the bar on the left side when you enter, and stood at the non-busy bar for 15 minutes as was not acknowledged, not even given a glass and hello for the wait. Was this close to asking for a refund. Moved across to the other side and was saved by the bartender, Jojo! Kudos to her and she had great recommendations and juggled the crowd (she even had the busier side) with ease. Great service, pretty good wine, and they allow dogs! An elevated winery that has fantastic views, no matter where you sit. Checking in with the hostess is required to be sat at the tables, otherwise the bar seating is first come first serve. Unfortunately, it's their choice of music that plays over their speakers that truly makes this place repulsive. If you enjoy techno and house music, and a poorly currated hip-hop/pop playlists, then this place is for you! Probably not the wine tasting atmosphere most people will want, but might be the cup of tea of others-who also have poor taste in music. I got a coupon to go here, which is the only reason I heard about this place. I called multiple times, left a voicemail, and submitted a contact submission form on their website over a week prior to my visit about bringing my dog. I called all the wineries we were going to in Temecula & my dog was allowed at those locations, so I was hoping Monte De Oro would be fine but we had a horrible experience as it was not a dog friendly place. As we walked in we were informed rudely that our dog can't be here & the only reason it was not a dog friendly place is because one of their larger contributing members had an altercation with a dog here. So they spent a ton of time & money getting their property classified as a restaurant to deny dogs in the future. Must be nice buying local laws, I'll never go back. The least they could do is respond to inquiries from potential customers. read more

We got to the bar area first and he said he'd be right with us but he kept helping other people first, primarily women who were blonde. Thankfully we decided to go to the bar across the room and were helped by JoJo who more than made up for the poor service from this guy. Unlike other winerys, they serve REAL food here which makes this the perfect midday stop. My only complaint is that they changed the rules and now only let you choose from 4 pre-arranged wine "flights." It used to be that you could order a flight of 4 and choose each one individually. While visiting my bestie in Temecula we had the chance to slip away from the kiddos to enjoy a nice lunch at a winery. She promised this spot had great views and solid food, and boy was she right! Upon arrival, I noticed the parking situation was awesome. There were 2 separate lots but even during our noonish Saturday visit it wasn't packed. We were able to grab a spot and I noticed as we walked in that they kept the limos/vans in a separate area so it doesn't get clogged. Totally appreciate that. Now, this definitely seems to be a popular spot for groups so it was poppin' in the tasting room. You first purchase your tasting card at the register up front. We shared a premium tasting and got 6 tastings (1 oz) from the regular menu and 3 from the premium wine list for $23. Our journey started with the bubbles, bolle de oro (bubbles of gold) which is a sparkling white. It was described as tasting like banana creme pie and creme brulee -- not exactly what I was tasting but it was certainly nutty! I enjoyed it and we actually ended up buying a bottle of this to enjoy with lunch, but more on that later. We tried a variety of wines (obviously) and since I tend to prefer reds my favorites were the simplexity (a blend of mostly merlot and cab franc, including cab sav, petit verdot and smidge of malbec) and the synergy owners blend (cab sav and merlot). *smacks lips* so yummy! Brad gave us a wonderful experience at the wine tasting and since we were staying for lunch, we decided we wanted to keep sippin' while we ate. Well, the wine by the glass list was limited and $18 a pop. Whattttt?! I was shocked at the lack of selection (it was basic and didn't have any of the wines I found particularly interesting) and for that price, I was in a bit of a huff. So, it made more sense to just buy a bottle for a few more dollar. I mean, don't put it past us to enjoy a bottle of wine with lunch but I just feel like offering more wines by the glass would make sense. But hey, you do you MDO - it's no biggie. I'll still come back again and again because you do the rest so well. :) Now for lunch! You order at the register (same spot you get the tasting card). Pro tip: ask the staff for a water cup - they are much bigger than the little water cups on the tasting bar. The bistro has a pretty large menu including flatbreads, paninis, salads and burgers! Definitely something for everyone's taste. I decided on the goat cheese & fig burger because doesn't it sound magical? I upgraded to the truffle fries for a small upcharge and my lunch cost just over $20. It was worth it! The fries were delish and I dunked them in the garlic aioli that was served with the burger. Is that what it was meant for? I can't be sure but it was a match made in heaven. The burger itself was massive - I couldn't finish the whole thing! They didn't skimp on the creamy goat cheese and the onion and fig jam was super yummy. I would recommend this to anyone who likes these two flavors together. Smeared on a thick beef patty, it'll make your belly happy! You don't get table service, you just get a number and the runners bring you your food. It's a non-tipping facility, and this goes for the wine tasting bar as well. The patio has plenty of tables up for grabs and you can stay as long as you want! The playlist is on-point playing jams from Mumford, Avett Bros and Amos Lee. So chill and relaxing. Highly recommend including this in your winery tour. Cheers! read more

Two quick comments: LOVE PAULINE AND ROSÉ ALL DAY HERE! Lovely experience here today for lunch! Had a flight and discovered that their wines were a delight! The whites, specifically the sparkling and Nostimo, were hits. Also adored the the Rosé even though it was listed as "sweet." I typically hate sweets but, let me tell you, this was a sweetish intro and a nice finish like having a rose petal dish. Pauline, our server, honestly made this experience for us! I came here with my girlfriend while wine tasting at a few places and enjoyed their nice outdoor patio, fantastic service and the chilled red I had on a hot day. Our server (I wish I could remember her name!) was super friendly and informative. I love reds but it was such a hot day, and she recommended a red that was chilled. I can't remember the name, but it was nice and refreshing. Just ask your server and I'm sure they'll know. The patio area had a beautiful view of all the vines and shade to keep you out of the sun. My wife and I went to Monte De Oro for the Valentine's Day dinner. We got a glass of champagne while we waited to be seated. The dinner takes place in the tasting room and it was a very intimate set up! My wife loved the pianist they hired, he even played the song we danced to at our wedding which was a nice touch!
