The team is amazing here! I've never seen a veterinarian who got down on the floor to make sure my furbaby felt welcomed. Her team welcomed Khaleesi with so much kindness. Got her all excited to get a shot. Offices were clean, Staff was friendly, Dr. was knowledgeable. Thank you for being amazing with Khaleesi so glad we added ourselves to the waitlist!

I used to be very skeptical about veterinarians. Over the years, Montecito animal clinic has really, truly gained my trust. I genuinely feel that they care about my dog and I, and that their recommendations are always in my dog's best interest. They aren't pushy and they don't nickel and dime me. [[HIGHLIGHT]]While some vet's almost always tell you to make an appointment if you have any sort of question/concern, the staff here are very generous with their advice; they understand that it's not always easy/affordable to make an appointment.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They are patient with me when I'm nervous and have so many questions, they help me understand what's going on when the information is overwhelming, and lastly they are very thorough with their examinations and making sure all my pets needs are met. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This goes for the whole staff: the front desk team, technicians and the Drs/Vets themselves.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I am so thankful for the entire staff at this clinic.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

    Scrappy doo

Dr March and her wonderful staff have been taking care of all the Barry family dogs for years. Today I had to put my beloved Scrappy to sleep due to multiple issues. He received the best care for years and especially while trying to make his life easier the last few months of his life. They could not have been more compassionate towards me and my little dog this morning. I am grateful for the knowledge and care of Dr March and her caring staff. Thank you very much!

They worked up an estimate that was quite large. The estimate had a low end and high end numbers. Veronica sat with me and explained each charge along with how and when it may apply. We played around with the numbers to help us fit it within an easier budget. Veronica was very thorough, patient and informative. My baby was sick so we had to do something. I left my pet with them to be treated while hospitalized. Unfortunately, I did not know exactly how sick she was. Within a matter of a short period, diagnostics came in with not so good news that left us with two options. Neither of which I was prepared for. After hearing the extent of my babies sickness, it was evident we needed to set her free. As painful as those words and that decision was, it had to be done. We drove back to that hospital to be with our baby. Sage has a special room just for the letting go process. Although we were not ready to say goodbye, we appreciated the quick return on labs and such, that gave us the answers needed to make the right decision for our girl. If you have been trying and struggling to piecemeal answers for your ill pet, I'd suggest going to this one stop shop. They have the doctors, staff, equipment and specialists on hand to get you the answers your pet and your family deserves. We love you Tabitha and miss you greatly. You were a very special, sweet, loving pup that contributed so much to everyone you met.

Instead of acting quickly, the receptionist was incredibly rude and told me to wait for a nurse just to decide "if they could stay or not." I ended up waiting for over 40 minutes. While I was waiting, three other clients walked in, and all of their animals were taken back to see a nurse immediately. When I questioned the staff about this, they claimed the other animals were emergencies. How are 4 starved and dehydrated kittens not considered an emergency? What makes this worse is that this place is supposed to work with local animal shelters, yet they couldn't care less about these rescue animals when it actually mattered. It felt like because these were rescues and I wasn't a standard high-paying client, they didn't want to bother helping them. A veterinary hospital should care about saving animal lives, regardless of where they came from. The lack of care, terrible communication, and rude behavior at the front desk are completely unacceptable. Avoid this place if you actually have a real emergency.

Historically I've always seen Dr. Freeman, unless he's out. Mostly because of the reptile/small critter specialty we've needed, and the trust we've built all these years. Ive had some great experiences with Dr. Virk lately, and he's done a great job for my animals and has earned my trust too. Figaro got some antibiotics, some fluids and a dewormer. I asked if I could please purchase liquid dewormer for my other cats so I can do them all at the same time when I get home. Dr. Virk approved this, which I really appreciated. Made my life much so much easier considering it's a real MF trying to give my cats the dewormer tablets I have. A REAL MF. When the tech was returning Figaro back to me, I heard him singing "Figaro! JUSTICE FOR BABY! VIRK lied about cancer, killed my dog…read morewithout permission. Necropsy proves it! On March 3, 2025, I brought my dog, Baby, to Alpine Hospital because she was unable to urinate and had a full bladder. Dr. Virk examined her and without presenting any diagnostic evidence, insisted that she had a tumor. He told me the tumor he seen on the x-ray was the size of a grapefruit. He said it could be cancer or pyometria but wouldn't know until he got in there to see. Despite my clear instructions not to proceed with euthanasia even if it was cancer, he euthanized her without my consent and without notifying me afterwards. I told him I wanted a second opinion and we were going to do a home euthanasia. He told me approximately six times to say goodbye to her and I refused because even if it was cancer, I was going to pick her back up.. I also have a video of me in the office talking to him I felt so uneasy with how many times he insisted to say goodbye. I have a video telling her I was picking her back up, I promised her. Before he walked out the office he told me "her surgery is tomorrow, if it is bad I'll let you know and we'll make a decision on the table." He knew the answer would have still been NO! I never signed any papers agreeing to euthanasia. Virk didn't even call me to ask and he didn't even call me to tell me she was gone. He offered a free cremation and I refused because that drew a red flag. I picked her body up and A necropsy was performed by a specialist, a very known and respected Doctor, Dr Evans. The results confirmed that Baby did NOT HAVE CANCER. Additionally, her X-rays showed NO tumors, and her bloodwork was normal. Dr. Virk never showed me these results prior to the procedure. Instead, he repeatedly pressured me to euthanize her, falsely claiming that she had a tumor. When she only had an enlarged bladder from not urinating. He even insisted that I take her home that night to say goodbye to her before the procedure, despite my explicit instructions. I left her because I was picking her up REGARDLESS. it wasn't goodbye. Furthermore, Dr. Virk attempted to spay Baby without my consent and left the procedure unfinished. The necropsy revealed a 1-inch hole in her bladder with 3 inches of stitches under it from his work. Which was never in his notes of his findings after surgery nor was ever mentioned to me when I called and demanded answers. There is no explanation for why he would begin an unauthorized spay procedure on a dog that was brought in for urinary issues. Adding to the severity of this case, Dr. Virk falsified medical records by documenting that I agreed to euthanasia, which I absolutely did not. Multiple people, including myself, explicitly told him that if cancer was suspected, he should close her up so we could seek a second opinion before considering euthanasia. He ignored these instructions. After Baby's death, Dr. Virk attempted to shift blame onto me, stating that her condition was due to "neglect" because she hadn't urinated for two days--the very reason I brought her in for urgent medical care. His failure to diagnose and treat her appropriately, his unauthorized medical procedures, and his ultimate decision to euthanize her without consent amount to serious misconduct. I just recently rescued Baby a few weeks ago, as I'm crying on the phone with VIRK demanding answers after I found out he euthanized her, Dr VIRK said "didn't you just rescue her 3 weeks ago?". I'm sorry WHAT!? What does that matter!? That was my baby! I am already requesting a formal investigation into Dr. Virk's conduct and appropriate disciplinary action, including revocation of his veterinary license. I'm taking Legal action and pressing charges. This was not an isolated mistake; it was a deliberate act of medical malpractice, deception, and unauthorized euthanasia. I have supporting evidence, including: * Necropsy report and live video confirming no cancer and unfinished spay attempt. * X-rays and bloodwork showing no tumor or signs of cancer. * Medical records falsely stating that I consented to euthanasia and she in fact never had a tumor. * Witnesses to explicit instructions not to euthanize regardless. * Voicemail from Dr VIRK letting me know she was gone due to bladder cancer that spread. And much more. MANY falsified records from both Alpine and jelly's place. Dr. Virk's actions were unethical, unlawful, and deeply traumatizing. I trusted this hospital with my dogs life, and instead, my dog was wrongfully killed under his care. I urge the Veterinary Medical Board to hold him accountable and prevent him from harming other animals and pet owners.

I can't even begin to express what a tremendous gift it has been to feel secure that we can handle any health issues that come up for Jojo, with the support of Dr. Rettig and her team. We animal guardians love our little ones so much, and there's nothing worse than watching them suffer and not knowing how to help. Whenever I can surrender enough to completely hand over the assessment and decision making to Dr. Rettig, we always get a good outcome. On more than one occasion, we have seen resolution of an acute issue within 24 hours of our treatment session. It's been truly remarkable. Dr. Rettig is an expert in holistic animal care, but on the few occasions that Jojo has needed specialty help from a traditional vet, Dr. Rettig communicated that to us immediately and supplied us with wonderful referrals. We trust her recommendations completely. Jojo loves Dr. Rettig, too! She is often eager and excited when we arrive at the clinic, which is not the case with ANY other vet we have taken her to see. Last week my 11 year old cat Salem stopped eating and was hiding under the bed constantly, which is so unlike her. We called around and managed to get a same day appointment on a Saturday here, which was incredible, and once we took Salem in the vet discovered she had multiple teeth with lesions on them that needed to be extracted ASAP. They reviewed all the risks of the procedures and recommended tests to run ahead of time to make sure Salem would do well under anesthesia for the amount of time it took to remove the teeth. Yes, the tests were expensive, but they were also run on extremely short notice for a surgery scheduled 4 days in advance, so we went ahead with them. The vet sent us home with some pain meds in the meantime to make sure Salem could eat while we waited for the surgery. All the test results came back normal and her surgery was last Wednesday. They ended up having to extract 8 teeth, but the surgery overall was a success! Salem came out of anesthesia a little loopy but otherwise in good spirits. The recovery wasn't easy - she was in a lot of pain during the days immediately following the surgery, so the nurse who took care of Salem let us come by at the end of the day to pick up more kitty pain meds for her. The difference now is like night and day. She's back to her old self, wolfing down wet food, cuddling with me, and meowing for attention constantly.
