I drug my parents here and it was the first time going to this place. We had driven by a few times and I wanted to check it out. Our server was Ethan. Let me start by saying that Ethan is awesome. We had no idea what to get or what to expect and Ethan provided amazing service and was able to suggest things that both of my parents loved. We ask Ethan what appetizer to get. After asking a few questions the crab cake was suggested. It was delicious. My stepmother can't really handle spice of any kind, so she had the burger that is apparently ground up steak. She absolutely loved it. She said it is probably the best burger around the area. I had the jerk shrimp and my father had the jerk chicken. The sauce is fantastic. Just enough spice. A little sweet. Wow. The rice is amazing. I was so excited about the rice. I even mixed a little bit of sauce in it to make it better (I didn't think it was possible but, the sauce is that good!). At the end, our fantastic server Ethan sold us on a to-go dessert. The entire experience was phenomenal. We will definitely be back. I will be telling everyone to go here. read more

Amazing food, even better service. Its hard to believe this place is tucked away in Northwest Indiana, but havent found a Carribbean restaurant anywhere with better food. Everything we had was great... drinks, crab cakes, jerk chicken, rice, plantains, cabbage and the pork.... the most tender pork you will ever have! For all those worried about the spice, everything is spiced perfectly and they have toned down the heat...but you can always request the chef/ owner to make it how you like. The owners, husband & wife, were so friendly and all the staff so happy and upbeat, it was a delight to be there. I was so stuffed I was unable to try to the pineapple upsidedown cake, but heard it was great. The atmosphere is relaxed, the servers and owners all take the time to chat with you. Since the food is made fresh to order, you may have to wait a bit longer - so be sure to grab a drink and appetizer in the meantime. Also, the place is very warm, like you were actually dining in the carribbean - which I appreciate in the cold winter. Heads up to dress lightly or you will probably be sweating through dinner. The only downside - its on the pricey side, but for all freshly made food and great quality its worth it. read more

Let me say first that if I could give 10 stars I would. Chef Teddian is the most creative and fabulous chef. I used them to cater my sons wedding and everything was plated so pretty and tasted so wonderfully. Every guest complimented the food and said it was without a doubt the best food they ever had at a wedding. His staff was professional, on time, and again a pleasure to work with without having to worry about anything. Thanks Chef! Great job! Food was good, kind of expensive. I give it three stars because the air conditioner wasn't working or couldn't cool the small dining room. They had many fans going that made it bearable. I can say I tried it, but don't think I'll be back. read more

Someone suggested I try this restaurant. I am so glad I followed their suggestion. I had the Creamy Cajun Linguini and it was fabulous! The shrimp and chicken were cooked perfectly. There was just the right amount of spice (I do not like hot). The presentation was beautiful. And the service was as warm and friendly and helpful as I could ask for. The coffee was hot, fresh and special. I enjoyed it so much that I took a to-go order for my son. We will definitely go there to try other items on the menu. Wonderful experience. read more

Visiting some friends nearby and decided to check Montego Bay Grille out. So glad we did! Their restaurant is cozy but the food is wonderful! The place was exceptionally clean. The restrooms were spotless. We ordered the Scallops as an appetizer. Perfectly cooked with a nice seared crust and topped with a wonderful sauce. For our entree we had Mahi Mahi and Jerk Salmon. Both were winners! For dessert we had the homemade Keylime cheesecake. While everything was wonderful and worthy of driving an hour to go back, the best of the best was their homemade Chef Teddian's jerk sauce. How many times have you tasted a sauce and felt compelled to ask questions about it? When the owner was coming around checking on the quality of the meal we had to ask about the sauce. She told us it was their (husband's) homemade creation and that it was bottled. Praise the Lord! I can take this goodness home with me in a bottle! Everyone was so nice, food was great, the place is clean. The foodie trifecta. And what was on the big screens? Food Network! Always learning about food. According to the smiles and laughter on the faces on the tables around us, everyone else was having a good time as well. Great job Montego! Can't wait to come back. read more

Not very accommodating for vegetarians. I've eaten here in the past and have always gotten the veggie wrap, which was very good, but no longer on the menu. The menu also had no vegetarian entree options. I was planning on asking for a different type of wrap without the meat, but I was told that they weren't serving lunch options on that day, so I couldn't get a wrap. I then tried to order the hummus appetizer for my entree, but was told that they were out of hummus. I asked if the Shrimp Curry dish could be accommodated. The server told me that I could only get the shrimp on the side and then give it to the people in my party, but I'm vegetarian for environmental/ethical reasons, not taste reasons, so I explained that and declined. I ordered the Shrimp Curry dish without the shrimp, assuming that the veggies, rice, and beans servings would be increased, which is what always happens when I eat out at restaurants with limited options. When I got my plate, there was a tiny portion of rice/beans and veggies and the entire other half of the plate was completely empty. Everyone at my table felt bad and was trying to offer me food because of how little food there was. At the end, a member of my party spoke up and said she wished they could have been more accommodating and the server claimed she had offered me the option of getting double veggies and I had declined, which no one at table had heard and confused us all. We were only told I could get the shrimp on the side. I was charged the full price of the dish, which is $18 for half a plate of food. I haven't eaten meat in almost 5 years and this has been by far, the most disappointing restaurant experience yet. I always support local businesses first, but with an experience like this, I don't think I'll be returning. read more

Here for the second time and for the second time the food did NOT disappoint! Anything jerk is absolutely delicious but the jerk pork is divine!! It was without question the most tender pork chop I've tasted!!! EVER.... nicely seasoned and add the jerk sauce... amazing!! They have a couple beers on tap and a decent bottle selection. They also offer a nice selection of cocktails ( the blue island splash is very tasty) and a couple delectable dessert choices. The interior is small but has a nice island vibe. The staff is extremely friendly and the time we spent there was highly enjoyable!! We look forward to many visits!! read more

Great looking restaurant and excellent music selections make for a fun and relaxed dining environment. All of the food was well presented and featured very complex flavors. The jerk wings were great as well as the Curry shrimp with red beans and rice. I really loved the crab cake as well. I thought the prices were fair especially if you consider the high level of Culinary artistry you're experiencing from complex sauces and perfectly cooked steak to small details like bias cut green onions and charred lemon wedge. My S.O. has been to Jamaica nearly 10 times and is obsessed with all things jerk. We live in Chicago, and we were pleasantly surprised to learn that this place opened by my parents' house in Indiana. The food and service were amazing! I had the jerk shrimp tacos which had the perfect amount of heat, and he had the jerk sandwich. It was a joy to eat at this restaurant. My family split up several entrees in order to taste all the delicious fate. I had the jerk shrimp. I love jerk seasoning, and this did not sacrifice flavor for heat. My son had the curry shrimp, which was light and creamy. Beloved hubby had the lobster ravioli covered in gravy. It may not have been true island, but I loved his did as well. The beer selection was an interesting local mix and I enjoyed both the sweet white sangria and the red sangria. This is a very intimate place with little to no atmosphere. However, each time we've been we dined outside near the lake, which was actually quite nice. The food is absolutely phenomenal! House made hummus with plantain chips and the daily made jerk sauce are incredible! I love that they use locally grown produce and everything is made fresh. The service can be a bit slow if there is a large party, but I promise the food is totally worth the wait. I gave it a "4" only due to the lack of atmosphere. The food though, deserves a "5" star rating. The salmon and red beans and rice are to die for! read more
