We paid $4000.00 for Chaparral 266 ssi. The boat was nice at first look. We had to pick it up. There was no rear view mirror!! There are rivets on the bottom of the boat that we stubbed our toes on. Worst of all the drivers SEAT was completely unstable. My husband had to stand most of the time pulling tubes all week, he's 75 and has been boating and skiing all his life. The door that held vests continued to swing open the whole time we were on the water. We finally spent 2 hours going back to Montego Bay Marina. They put a lock on the door so it would not fly open. Supposedly fixed the seat, but they did not. It was set back and you could not sit in it...very wobbly!!! Then on the returned accused my husband of stealing a bumper and was going to charge him. They gave us 3 and they said there were 4. They found the forth bumper in the compartment with all the life vests...said they were sorry!!! It was terrible. Very stressful!! read more

I rented a wave runner from Montego Bay earlier this week and had a great experience. They were pretty busy at the time but still check in went super smooth, quick and efficient. Answered all questions I had and even offered a map of the lake and the areas I could and couldn't cover. Price was very reasonable. And the young staff who showed me how to run the wave runner were amazing. Friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful. I'll go there again when I'm back next summer. read more

Called to have my boat winterized because my normal marina was booked. These guys came out same day and even winterized by two seadoos at the same time which my old marina wouldn't do. Pricing was slightly better too. They fit me in the day I called and we had a freeze a couple of days later so that was important. Very friendly and responsive. read more

The boat we rented had problems starting. The owner of the business tried to charge us $300 for gas we didn't use. We were pulled over and ticketed by the MO boat patrol for having an out of date registration. No apologies from the owners and we have to pay the ticket. $97.00. One of the jet skis we rented had no oil in it. We had to pay $20 for oil he said was already in it. Take your business elsewhere! read more

Despite seeing mixed reviews, I chose Montego Bay for renting wave runners due to their location being close to my rental home. Nearly all of the rental experience was fantastic, but was more than offset by their management/policy upon return of the wave runners. Admittedly, there were very minor, superficial surface marks on the front of a machine when I returned them (I was unaware until the dock girl inspected). While I agree the marks had to have happened while I rented the machine, the damage fee for these marks was $100. Then suggested that the damage amount should really be $300 after I said that the initial amount seemed excessive due to the superficial nature. I openly agreed to pay whichever amount they chose to charge me, but also indicated that their decision would be a reflection of the character of their business and the people making these decisions. Additionally, I was accused of mistreating the dock girl by questioning the excessive damage fee. So, to summarize... I feel my experience does speak to the character of their business and choosing to share my experience for others to learn from. Seemed like they wanted to soak me for extra money once they had a chance. I rarely leave reviews for anything, but I felt this experience deserved one. read more

Mike picked us (my son and I) up since we we're close. We rented a very new in excellent condition pontoon boat. Shortly after he picked us up. My son made a comment about the boat. Mike snaps and made some derogatory comments. If I wouldn't been there a short time I would've had him turn around and drop us off. So I delt with it. Was on the lake all day. Went to return the boat and my daughter was with me. As I'd stepped in to pay for a couple of things my daughter later tells me Mike was using a great deal of profanity directed fords I assume his son. In front of my daughter 10 years old. I inquired inside who owned the business I was told it was Mike and Ben. As they (Mike and Ben) were returning to drop my daughter and I off. I asked who owned the company. Mike said he worked for Ben. I then asked Mike what his problem was earlier that morning. Why he was such a jerk to my son and I. He and Ben totally ignored me. Never once made a response. Either of them. I'd drive 30 minutes to pirate cove rental before I went there again. All this being said. If you like being treated like crap and your kids being around people that have no respect of how they speak or treat people. Well. I'll let you decide. read more

We rented a jet ski and they were nice enough to bring it to the nearby resort we were staying in. However things got ugly when we returned the unit. We had a minor incident with the jet ski due to the dock we were using and our inexperience. We returned the unit to to tell the owner, I think, what happen and he immediately started yelling at us and throwing his arms in the air like he was having a fit! He accused us of running it directly into the dock, which did not happen, and accused us of trying to say the unit was damaged when we got it, which we didn't not say either. He went on and on like a crazy person in my opinion. I had to walk away after asking him why he was yelling at us and I did say he was being a jerk!! Anyway, my husband said he calmed down later but it ruined our vacation and cost us $850.00 to repair the cosmetic damage. Yelling at customers is not good customer service and it is hard for me to imagine that we were the only people ever to damage a rental unit. I am hoping karma gets him because he made me cry!!! read more

If zero stars were an option for Montego Bay Marina in Camdenton, MO, I would select no stars. On July 28, 2018, we rented their largest pontoon boat for a week and although the motor ran fine, the rest of the boat was pretty damaged. The ladder was so bent up that it would not lower into the water and we were unable to use it which made it difficult for getting out of the water and back into the boat. The speedometer, depth finder, and radio did not work. The upholstery on the seats had several tears in it and the two captains chairs were dilapidated. All of this was noted on the check-out sheet by the lady who checked us out on the dock. We accepted the boat as is because it was the only boat that accommodated our party of twelve and the other marinas were very far from the house we had rented on the Lake of the Ozarks for the week. When we returned the boat the owner, Mike, said we had damaged the ladder even though it was noted on the check-out sheet that it was already damaged when we took it. He said the lady who checked us out did not know what she was doing and he even brought in a strong-arm guy to show me a dark grainy picture of a ladder taken in the dark and said the picture was taken of the back of the boat the morning we rented it and that we had backed into something and the ladder would cost $850.00 to replace. Both Mike and his strong-arm guy were threatening and had a very mean attitude and at one point even threatened to call the lake parol. Their intent was to totally intimidate me! Mike is running a deceptive operation and the customer needs to be aware and take their business elsewhere! read more
