Very yummy food. We tried this gem for my hubby's birthday & weren't disappointed. He got the steak-Rib rye, I had the fried shrimp & our daughter the chicken tenders. Our orders came with salads, baked potatoes & bread. We ordered the stuffed shrimp app that was only ok, also a bowl of gumbo which was yummy. We ordered take out which was good considering the location is quaint & cozy

Stay away. I hate leaving negative reviews and potentially hurting someone's livelihood, but this place is a waste of time and money. Apparently years ago this place was something very special. Maybe they sold it to someone who doesn't care? I don't know. The hostess/waitress was trying her best to do her job but the place is just too run down. We should have known by only one other couple on a Saturday night that this was a mistake. The restrooms are gross. The tea is gross. Table clothes are stained. Menus are dirty. The salad was brown and warm. Pathetic food (probably from Sam's). Corny 50s doowop music playing loud. AND it's expensive. I'm can now confirm what other -2 star reviewers have said. They'll surely have to close down soon.

I I got the stuffed shrimp. It was very good! My husband got the blackened red snapper with a spicy crawfish. It was delicious!

Saturday date night was at Monte's Steak and Seafood. This place was only 10 minutes on the 55 from Baptist! Much closer than I thought. The place was quiet, dimmed lights, the perfect setting for a romantic date night. We were quickly greeted and seated. They started us off with some bread, but from the pictures I've seen online, I can tell, the food is saucey, so I saved the bread for a different purpose I got the side salad with raspberry vinaigrette, oh was it great. Just the right balance of sweet and tart, and those bits of deep fried croutons were a treat! He ordered the voodoo steak topped with fried shrimp, and oysters, cooked medium rare. We usually don't prefer an overly sauced steak, but it was great because we were able to use our bread to soak it all up. The steak, that steak was cooked perfectly, extremely tender! I wished I got my own piece! The fried seafood on top was delicious, the batter were very well seasoned, now we really want to try his fried seafood platter. My redfish was blackened then topped with a cajun cream sauce, again, it was great with the bread. I was afraid the pasta and the sauce on the fish might conflict in flavors, but not at all, the pasta went very well with it. Overall we enjoyed our dinner, we will definitely be back to try some of his fried dishes. I heard they have Sunday buffet, so I'll be back for that too! I included a menu for yall.

Just don't. Go anywhere else. Waiting over 2 hours to get food, one steak was rancid and needed to be sent back, another steak was so rare it was cold, had a huge gratuity automatically tacked on because we were a party of 6, the service was horrible, sat in a side room where half the tables were unmade, stains on the table cloths, in the main room there were 3 parties, all in all about 10 people. Ended up having to eat crackers and butter for over an hour. Save your $, save your time - just go somewhere else.

My colleagues and I thought we would get a "quick" lunch before one had to fly out in 3 hours and I had to drive to Birmingham and the other to Louisiana. We arrived after the normal lunch rush and orders were taken, but did it take forever to get two seafood salads and a baked fish. We would up being pushed for time so badly that our colleague had to leave before finishing her meal so as to make it for her flight. The food was ok but nothing extraordinaire. It served a purpose for us and that was about it. The presentation of the salad was good.

Po Boy was delivered deconstructed which was interesting. 4 large shrimp dressed with maters and lettuce, mayo missing. Would liked to have had seasoned shrimp but thats a preference. Gumbo was goodish at best. Needed a bit more rice and some Cajun seasonings. Not sure about the waitstaff here though. Greeter was too busy in the tablet to know I was here but made her way to finally get me a table. Waitress was locked to the cross body purse and didn't offer any help on the menu choices. Finished off the meal with a Butter Coffee cake togo. All being said I think a 3.75 star is acceptable for what I got.

Instead of being juicy and tender like shrimp should be, it had a weird soft texture that was hard to even enjoy. It came back with an even worse texture and tasted like it had been sitting too long. I've never had a problem here until now, which makes it even more disappointing. This was a waste of money, time, and gas. Very frustrating experience.

I love how my drink was still cold because of the cup to they serve the drinks in. The ambiance is very family style and it is good for big groups. We had a group of 20 and we were accommodated well. Now here's for the breakdown of the buffet that I can remember. Meats: catfish, pork chops, chicken, blackened catfish, fried liver, bbq chicken, fried shrimp, and pot roast Sides and veggies: greens, black eyed peas, fried okra corn, fried green tomatoes, rice (sorta like a dirty rice), mashed potatoes, yams, hush puppies, mac &cheese, Mexican corn bread, regular corn bread, corn salad, salad bar, pasta salad, etc Desserts: plenty were available. They apparently have multiple locations, and their emphasis is on fried catfish and shrimp. This location, subtitled "Express" has a limited menu of the seafood, fries, hushpuppies. Mississippi raised fish is their boast, and they have perfected the breading and cooking method, and my order was done in a jiffy. Seating is all outdoors, picnic tables under a shelter, the tables topped with the usual condiments and rolls of paper towels. This would be the first of many catfish meals I would have on this trip. Growing up in Minnesota, it wasn't something that was served to people; more often is was chunked to use for bait for walleye or northern pike. But I'm glad I got introduced to it somewhere down the line. When I travel in the South, I can't get enough of it. Cajun? Creole? No matter. Delicious.

It is a cute little "shack", where you can order at the window and eat at their picnic tables or you can take it to go. I did not see any indoor dining. The menu was primarily fried foods with Catfish, shrimp, oysters, French fries, hush puppies, fried pickles, fried jalapeños, and coleslaw. The young lady who took our order was helpful when we were struggling to decide. She gave us our drinks and we went to sit at the picnic tables. We weren't seated long before another lady came out with our food, offered to refill our drinks and bring us any other condiments we might want. My husband and I shared a catfish plate, a seafood platter with oysters & shrimp, and some fried pickles. We also had the coleslaw and turnip greens as sides. Everything was excellent and plentiful. We had enough leftover to feed another person. Next time I visit I want to try the fried jalapeño's, and I will probably order the catfish plate again.
