So freakin scary man!!!! Not for the faint of heart! It goes sooooooooo fast! And it's loopy and goes upside down when you do the loop. Then it takes you up duper high and you have to go back down backwards. It's so scary man lol I've been on this ride one time and it was just scary. I couldn't relax at all! It's so fast too and at times you feel like you are gonna die lol To me that is not fun at all lol But maybe someone else wants that appeal? I'd say if you have back or neck problems, avoid this ride. I can't see how it would be pleasant for you getting whipped around lol It is pretty looking at night with the purple lights. read more

For this ride, we're going back in time to ride Montezooma's Revenge Once you pull down the lapbars, you wait for the operators to shout "clear dispatch" and launch out of the station from 0 to 55 mph. And if you haven't ridden a shuttle loop before, you're going to be caught off guard. Because despite this coaster being over 40 years old, this launch packs a PUNCH! Now granted, it's not Xcelerator good, but it's fun regardless. After that, we hit the vertical loop which is fun, you get some decent laterals. You then hit the spike before rolling back down into the loop. You then roll backwards through the loop which isn't nearly as good backwards. We then speed through the station before hitting the 2nd spike backward. This gives sus ome good hangtime before we stop in the station. Overall Montezooma's Revenge is a fun coaster, it's nothing special, but it's certainly more fun than it looks! Now, even though this ride is pretty average and it certainly hasn't aged as well as other coasters, I would've STRONGLY recommend riding this as it's a rare coaster credit! And I really hope it does reopen at Knotts because this is actually the last Schwarzkopf Shuttle Loop still operating in America and is one of 6 left in the World, as well as being a historical coaster since it's the oldest coaster still operating at Knott's, so without it, Silver Bullet, HangTime GhostRider or Xcelerator might not exist. But sadly, this ride closed in early 2022. Now, the reasoning was that this ride was going to be refurbished into Montezooma the Forbidden Fortress. It was to recieve a new randomized launch sequence and amazing theming. However, it's been in limbo for about 3 years now. Allegedly KumbaK (the company hired to do this project) did a horrific job in the removal process of the ride and they destroyed a lot of things they weren't supposed to. This led the ride to be left in a state of limbo for years and led A LOT of people to think that the project would be canceled and that the ride would be scrapped, resulting in the loss of ANOTHER Schwarzkopf (still pissed about Mindbender at Galaxyland and Scorpion at BGT closing, especially the way BGT handled that situation. But hey, at least they GAVE that ride warning. (COUGH COUGH KINGDA KA)). Thankfully, Knott's did come out and say that the coaster would open in 2025 and that it's not going away, which, THANK YOU! However, it's now 2025 and while work has occurred on the ride since then, we haven't gotten any other updates and the ride is still in pieces (and frankly looks abandoned). So Knott's, can we get an update PLEASE?!?!?! Even a simple, "we're still working with the manufacturer to get the ride open" would be appreciated. And if KumbaK really can't get the job done. PLEASE. GET SOMEONE ELSE TO DO IT. DO NOT GIVE UP ON MONTEZOOMA'S REVENGE (Again not very optimistic given how they handled Kingda Ka's closure. Seriously, not giving people a warning that the worlds tallest fastest closure is closing is F*CKING INEXCUSABLE). So please Richard Zimmerman or whoever else is calling the shots. AZTEC SUPPORT or : How I Learned To Stop Worrying and Love the Launch. Knotts' oldest roller coaster is a tried and true classic that's withstood the test of time. Okay, so maybe it's a bit rusty around the edges and whatever smoothness this shuttle loop coaster had back in the late 70's has all but vanished. But ask anyone who's ever visited the park and they'll state their unabashed love for this ride. "Monty" is the LAST remaining shuttle loop in the country and one of the only Schwarzkopf shuttle loops still in operation worldwide. A six ton flywheel housed in a machine room near the loop cranks up to over 1,000RPM and engages a cable-connected drive pulley that yanks the train. This method of accelerating the 28-passenger ride vehicle to its top speed of 55mph is not nearly as sophisticated as those used on other launch coasters (i.e. compressed air, linear induction motors) but it gets the job done in a tidy 4.5 seconds. It's still quite forceful, so be prepared once the station dispatchers give the 'go' signal. Trains have a colorful motif of red, yellow, and green and use both a seatbelt and individual ratcheting lap bar. Legroom is limited, but the ride duration is a brief half minute so the discomfort is temporary. Station platform is dressed up to fit in with the Mayan/Aztec theme of the surrounding area. Even though Monty has been around for almost four 4 decades (!!!) it still attracts a solid crowd. When coupled with the single train operation (as all shuttle loops are), this can generate long wait times. I heard a rumor that this attraction is slated for removal in the next year or two, so if you've had ANY inkling to get in one last ride on this historic launched coaster, do it now before it's too late! Sure, the launch isn't as intense as Xcelerator or as unique as Pony Express but Montezooma's Revenge is a venerable roller coaster that has found great success in the Southern California climate. Nearly 40 million riders have been thrilled since Monty opened and while its future remains uncertain, I'm very glad I got the chance to experience it. Along with the Timber Mountain Log Ride and a certain refurbished wooden coaster, this is an absolute MUST RIDE on your trip to Knotts Berry Farm. Went here right when the park opened today and there was no line so I just walked right on. This classic ride has been around since 1978 and is an endangered species of roller coaster known as the flywheel-launched shuttle loop designed by the legendary engineer Anton Schwarzkopf. It is the last of its kind within the United States and one of only 8 in the world altogether, so this would be a valuable credit for any coaster enthusiasts out there. ;) The actual ride experience itself is really fun and though it's a tad rough given its age, it delivers the goods quite well in a short but sweet package. I enjoy how it launches into the loop and hangs on the edge of the hill before going back through the whole track in reverse and returning to the station. The layout is simple, yet effective as it still manages to be thrilling and momentarily provide great views while suspended in mid-air. While roller coaster technology and design have come a long way since 1978, good ol' Monty still remains a a very enjoyable ride almost a half century later. read more

One of the best and oldest roller coasters around! Once you grab your seat and are ready to go is when the fun starts! Once they say go you'll have a few seconds tell you take off at 55 MPH and head straight into a loop if your lucky the jaguar trail will be passing through at the same time! After the loop you go up a steep incline where you stop and then proceed backwards through the same loop and then zoom back through the station and into a steep incline where you almost stop again then it's back down and you come to a abrupt stop and your ride on Montezoomas Revenge is done! I love this ride I've gone on it many many times through the years and its always a blast make sure to hit this one up wile your in the park because its definitely one of the best ones here! read more

Ok so why is it that all the Disneyland attractions have their own reviews yet there's not a single one for any of Knott's?? KBF is America's first theme park yo, show'em some love too! If there was ever a ride at Knott's that deserved its own review, you best believe Montezooma would be one of them. Good ol' Monty has been doin it's thang since 1978 and was incidentally my first ever looped-coaster. Being a flywheel-launched ride, it's one of the few of its kind in the world and is the last of its kind in the country. It's also unique for still only using lap bars as opposed to the the over the shoulder restraint system that you commonly see with other steel coasters. While it may not be the fastest or tallest ride at Knott's, it still has that intangible thrill factor element that keeps me coming back for more. I have gotten on this ride since a small child I love it so much. It is a quite simple ride nothing other then two flips one forward one backwards. But at the height of each end of the track you reach complete weightlessness and you feel as though you were floating in mid air. read more

Located in Fiesta Village. This one's an old time favorite. This was before Xcelerator existed young'uns. It's one of the few rides I remember from when I came to Knott's Berry Farm (KBF) eight years ago. I remember the initial burst of speed as you take off. It's not as fast as Xcelerator, but it's got a much faster turnover. It's such a simple setup, but still so much fun! Definitely one of those rides I have to go on when I'm at KBF. read more

When I first saw/heard the ride I was really intimidated because it looked really fast and really loud. However, when I rode it for myself, it felt much slower than I initially imagined. The floating feeling you get when you hang on the dead end edge is nice and the view of the surrounding area is even better. At night they turn on the arch of lights and flash off the lights in the waiting area for a second as you take off. If you like this ride, try the Boomerang, which is farther into the park and feels like a more extreme version of Montezooma's Revenge. I'm just glad that this ride had nothing to do with Montezuma's revenge... read more

Montezooma's revenge was one of my favorite ride. I am a chicken when it comes to roller coasters but this one definitely had enough thrill but not to the extent of making me want to vomit. There is 1 ride I always need to go on when I go to Knott's Berry Farm and thats Montezuma's Revenge. I love this ride. Tonight I did not have to wait in a line and I was able to walk right on. My favorite place to sit is in the back. I sat one seat from the back. I love the feeling of taking off pushing my head against the back of my seat and then going through the loop. Then there is the going through the loop backwards which is an incredible indescribable feeling. You rush backwards through the station straight up an incline. When you are in the back of ride you are at the highest up in the air! What a rush when you descend quickly back into the station. Definitely worth the visit to Knott's Berry Farm!!! read more
