I have a limited edition Seiko Presage automatic watch that needed a repair to the movement due to the Seiko logo on the watch face dislodging and blocking the movement of the minute hand. I first sent it to Seiko, who wouldn't cover the repair under warranty because they claimed the watch was damaged (it wasn't - it's a dress watch that's been babied since new). My only option was to pay to 500+ for a new movement, recalibration, etc., which seemed outrageous. I brought it to Dave at Montgomery Jewelers as they advertise Seiko repairs on their website. Not only did he fix it properly in a matter of days (rather than the several weeks Seiko required) he did it at a small fraction of what Seiko wanted to charge me. Montgomery Jewelers is now my first stop for any and all watch repairs. It should be yours, as well. read more

Great customer service !!! I went in to have the battery replaced in my watch. They weren't very busy and did it on the spot. In the meantime I asked if they could repair my gold nugget with diamond ring , which had been mangled by my garbage disposal. Dave , I assume , fixed it right up. I thought the battery replacement was a little expensive , but when I asked how much I owed for the ring repair , he said "NO CHARGE" . Had they been busy , they probably wouldn't have done the work the same day. However I am very impressed and grateful. read more

I went looking for someone to clean and possibly repair my mechanical watch. Tried several chain Jewelers only to be confronted with the proverbial cold shoulder but one gave me a name which was David Shafer of Montgomery Jewelers. I was immediately impressed upon introducing myself to this literal one-man band who was able not only to fix a problem with time keeping accuracy and reset the mechanism on the spot but reassured me that the watch did not to be need to be cleaned until it started having real problems. Not the least bit happy. Took my watch here 2 years ago to have links removed and the man behind the counter worked with me removing and adding in links until it was right for me. Fast forward two years and I bring in another watch to have links removed. Was told they were too busy and I'd have to leave it with them to have it done. Same man measured my wrist and wrote down how many links he thought should be removed. Since they did a good job before, I went with it. (Although I could have done that myself). Came back to get watch a week later and man behind counter declares the fit "perfect". NOT ONCE WAS I ASKED IF THE LENGTH SUITED ME. I should have spoken up but was really pressed for time and thought I would get used to the length. I did not. I'd already been told how busy they were so there was seemingly no time to remove/add links. I should have known what to expect when the brand name of my watch was misspelled on the service ticket (showing lack of attention to detail). Now I have to go get it fixed by someone who actually cares about customer service. read more

Took my watch in to change the battery, which he did. The battery was loose inside the case and would move around when worn. It kept perfect time off my arm but not on my arm. I took it back and he kept it for a while. i went back to him to see about the hold up. He said it could not be fixed. I foulnd out through other jewelers that he had glued the back on and no one was able to open the watch. His comment was " its just a fake Rolex." Not even an apology or refund of my fee. read more

My fiance recently bought my ring from here and said the whole experience was great. I am thrilled with the resulting ring from all their hard work. Montgomery Jewelers holds true the values I do not often see in stores these days, oft times corporate atmospheres and employees with their hands tied by management make shopping for goods or services boring and in-personal. I had five days to have my grandparents wedding rings sized for my wedding. Both of our rings had to go up several sizes. The owner took a personal interest and made sure both rings were perfectly sized, shined, and ready in time for our wedding. And even 6 months later when I crushed my grandfathers wedding ring on my finger, they were able to quickly and affordably repair the ring! The woman behind the counter knew next to nothing about the high end watch I brought in. She said she didn't know how to work on leather bands, that she didn't know if the watch had a battery, and when I asked if I could pay for the watch to be serviced by the owner, she said she would replace the battery herself. The brand is well-known, but she had clearly never heard of it before because she kept calling it another (non watch brand) name altogether. Not only was she unable to help me, she could not refer me to anyone who could and tried to sell me a battery instead. I should hope the owner takes note of how poorly this employee represented his store and services. read more
