I been there a while ago for couple watches. Everyone was very helpful, patient with my indecisiveness. They offer to order different band to replace with the face I want with one extra charge. I got 3 watches in the end Anyway, this time I went in for a watch battery replacement. I was greeted and helped quickly. Not only the employees was nice, they also have 2 cute pup that very sweet also. The older/bigger one is Chewy, the younger/smaller one is Andrew. Chewy is very sweet and gentle, Andrew is a bit more aggressive for love/attention I had fun with them for a good 10 minutes while being help. I did look at the jewelry and they do have a lot of pretty pieces. I wasn't comfortable taking picture of the jewelry/store but I sure did take some vid the dog interaction. read more

They did not have the ability to order one at their location, but told me where I could find one, and then offered for me to bring it to them and they would install it at no cost. I was shocked. Do not go here if you care about your watch. I came in to get the bracelet of my watch adjusted. The younger blonde woman that "helped" me took my watch to the bench. After a couple minutes, she came back and nearly tossed my watch back to me and said "you're good". I thought that receiving a service free of charge was a nice gesture. However, upon inspecting the bracelet when I got home, I noticed that she severely damaged the bracelet and broke a link pin. The bracelet had been hit with a hammer, the pin was totally loose, and the bracelet was not secure. I drove back, and asked her what happened, and if she could put in a different pin. Her response, "scratches are going to happen". I cannot believe the level of unprofessionalism and incompetence. To damage a bracelet, then give it back to the customer without disclosure, and expect it to either go unnoticed or be forgiven because she didn't charge me is incredibly disheartening. I am so disappointed and angry. I do NOT recommend visiting this place for anything, especially not a simple bracelet adjustment. read more

I would put 10 stars if I could, what amazing customer service. I have had a digital watch that I've used for years, after it got beat up I got a new one. A few weeks after I got the new one it broke at one of the pins and fell apart. Sadly that watch was in a drawer until I ordered a new one. A friend told me to give this call a place and see what they could do. Molly was able to grab a pin from my old watch and fixed it for me in 5 minutes and she didn't even charge me for her services. We had to order something and it came in not quite what I had expected. They were more than accommodating and understanding. They even do repairs which I have a few things that need some help with. Repairs are reasonably priced. Nice selection of jewelry. Tried on a diamond that was well beyond my budget. Helped me to realize I would never be comfortable wearing it in everyday life so what is the sense. (Got that out of my system) Not once did I feel a judgment vibe or looked down upon. HORRIBLE service. I got a Michael Kors watch for Christmas, and I went there to get it resized. When I first walked in, the blonde lady that helped me gave me a once over (I had just worked out) and I felt extremely out of place. The watch got resized and all was well, until this morning. I realized that a screw was missing, it was DEFINITELY there when I brought it to them. It's the screw that holds the watch face to the band. I brought it back to them, and the pretentious blonde lady immediately said that she had nothing to do with it. They told me to go to Nordstrom to fix it. Completely unwilling to help me out. I've been looking to buy my girlfriend something nice for her birthday, so I dropped by the Kenwood Towne Center in search of a nice necklace at one of the jewelry stores. I didn't see much that caught my eye, so I headed down to the Hyde Park area and found William Effler Jewelers, which was a nice change in pace. In general their items seemed to be of higher quality then much of what was at the mall, and they were friendly but not too pushy like at Kenwood, which can be very annoying. While I didn't end up getting anything there, I did find it to be a good store. Wm. Effler Jewelers, as the name typically appears, is a family-owned and operated jewelry and gift store, established in 1920 in Mt. Healthy. After several moves and changes within the company, the Mt. Healthy store (not original location) was sold in 2001, making the now-19-year-old Rookwood Pavilion store its only location, according to its website. Wm. Effler Jewelers is a member of the American Gem Society, so you know it's a reliable and a well-respected place to shop. Of course they have a large selection of all kinds of jewelry: diamonds and gemstones, rings, bracelets, necklaces, watches--you name it. As far as the gifts, they have a lot of porcelain figures, as well as some nice baby gifts, clocks, and Waterford Crystal items, among other things. Overall, Wm. Effler Jewelers is a very good store, and being that it is a long-standing local business makes it that much better. read more

When shopping for a pearl strand, I found William Effler Jewelers to be very knowledgeable and helpful... but sadly overpriced. I learned much about pearls from the salesperson, but no matter how great she was, I couldn't justify spending three times as much for the necklace as I found it elsewhere. They seem to be dedicated to their craft, as they string their own pearls and have a custom jewelry workshop in-house. If I need any jewelry repair or custom jewelry in the future, I will definitely stop by to see what they can do. read more

I went to efflers knowing they were a family owned/run jewelry store with one location which was appealing to me since I hate seeing commercials for big box jewelry stores. I went in with a small budget (1k-2k) and was worried about being pushed to the side or laughed at! Ann from efflers is who helped me out and she did an amazing job and showed me every options with diamonds and how to maximize the purchase . After some discussion with my girlfriend , she decided she was not ok with diamonds and I took this to Ann not mowing where to go. Ann turned me onto sapphires and eventually we found a Montana sapphire. Ann brought in several options for me, and was very good about ensuring that we were on the same page . After purchasing the sapphire and setting I was even given documentation with appraisal for insurance purposes . Broke my fiancé's engagement ring, then lied about it. I took my fiancé's engagement ring to William Effler Jewelers to get resized. When we dropped it off to get the estimate, the ring still had some string on it so she could wear it. The employee proceeded to put the ring on the mandrel to see what size the ring was currently at, and how much it would have to be resized. She pressed the ring hard down the mandrel to try to get a reading from the mandrel. I didn't think anything of it at the time, as we are not jewelry people. We left to come back the next day to hear the estimate. My fiancé returned to pick up the ring and was told by the employee that it was cracked in two places. My fiancé put the ring on her finger and it was more than cracked, it was broken. The ring no longer made a complete circle, and there was a piece hanging open. The employee did not apologize, but quoted a price for what it would cost to fix. My fiancé was shocked and didn't know what to do. She had to ask for an envelope to put the ring in, as she couldn't wear it and left to find me. I returned the next day as they were closed by the time I saw the ring. I talked to the manager and asked him about it. In describing to him what happened, he stopped me and asked, "She put it on the mandrel with the string on it?" I replied that she did. He said that he would talk to the jeweler who made the estimate and the employee whom we dealt with previously. Twenty minutes later he called me and proceeded to tell me how the ring was old and had been resized twice previously and had a very thin shank. I told him I wasn't pleased that a piece of jewelry that I dropped off as a ring, came back broken. Then I was told that it did not leave his store broken, simply cracked in two places as the jeweler had said. I asked if he was calling my fiancé a liar, and he said he wasn't, but he was sure that the ring wasn't broken when she left the jewelry store. (!!) I brought my fiancé to the store and he said the same thing to her face. I'm convinced that the manager simply made a business decision and decided he had nothing to gain by fixing the ring as I was never going to go there again after he fixed it. This is true that I would never go there again, even if he did fix the ring. But I think this shows how little this store values customer service, not to mention integrity and honesty. Because of this, I figured they were the most appropriate place to pop my Yelp cherry. As a 31 year old guy about the last thing I want to do is spend my free time shopping for jewelry. Effler's makes it so easy for guys who are busy and appreciate over the top service! Sure you could go to some chain store and deal with people who don't know what they are talking about but why? Keep your money in town and spend it with a locally owned store that always has experts on hand to service all of your needs. Don,t go and buy that special piece, that will be in your family to hand down. I made the mistake in trusting Efflers . They our classy and profession as a first impression. I had been sick for some time, lost 80lbs, band to loose. So I purchased a new wedding band for our 30th anniversary. Purchased Scott Kay platinum band, with 2 small surprise diamonds. Placed my diamond in middle . Ring also has 2 small diamonds on side. Ann the sales person, and I believe one of the owner , sold us band $2600.00. Dollars. I was told that Scott Kay was running 1/2 off. . Would not go down on price , unless we pd cash or ck. When insisting I should have ring sized I was frighten to cut on it. Platinum requires a special tool to lazer it. I was assured they did have the tool and knowledge to size platinum , and has 30yrs exp. So I did. When pick up ring looked beautiful. Pd by ck ,however they had no paper work , due to they forgot to take a picture of the ring. I took one and sent it to Ann. Ann Said it will take about a week. Came in mail 2 days later. In the mean time I realized that the polish came off were they sized it, and a slit down the middle of ring. I ask if I could have them send it to Scott kay to repair it due to it will be a weaken area. I was afraid to have them work on it. If they soldered it, that means they cut and possible filled it with white gold? So my platium ring is no longer. On appraisal states . Lady,s platinum engagement ring (stamped) , by designer Scott Kay, of cast and assembled construction.? So I spoke with Efflers asking them to send to Scott Kay for repair. Ann said we will do anything I want, but" you will have to pay for it". So I requested a new ring in my size , she then ask are you willing to pay 60% more. Then Ann stated that she called Scott Kay , the day I picked out the ring, and I refused to pay extra. I was shocked she said that. The conversation did not occur, and I was not even told they could order it in my size. After she put me on hold and laughted so slightly. I new I was on my own. So very upset with the customer service. They came very highly recommended. My watch was a fashion watch and all I needed was to have a battery repaired. It was the first time that the battery was getting replaced. The rep called and said that I had to pay to have my watch repaired because they could not close the watch back up and insisted that whoever had opened the watch up previously must have messed the watch up. After I disclosed that the watch had never been worked on, she still insisted that I pay to have it repaired. Finally, after going back and forth, they said they would repair it just this one time. I thought...you will never have to worry again because I will never patronize your business. I have my own business and I would never treat my customers in this manner. read more
