My wife and I have been here a few times and it's always been decent, but this time was different. My wife doesn't typically like steak from the US but still we took a chance on the London broil substituting the french fries for sweet potato fries and upgrading the broccoli to a Cobb salad for a few dollars extra. We could not have been more happy with our order! The mushroom gravy with that beefy medium cooked steak hit the spot and was complimented perfectly by the Cobb salad. Apparently, I started a review for Monza but never finished it. Shame on me. Monza is definitely one of the better dining choices in old town Manassas. The food is reasonably priced, the service is good, and the beer and wine list is good. Food choices are a mix of American, Italian and Portuguese. The pizzas are superior, on the Nova scale, that is. It does confuse me a little bit that you can't get Chourico as a pizza topping, considering the Portuguese background. Decided to enjoy the outdoors and arrived with a party of 4. We were seated very quickly and all the people working wore masks which is awesome. For drinks, I ordered the rum and coke and later a mojito. Both were solid. The food we got were mostly appetizers such as the calamari, buffalo chicken dip, and the wings. The calamari was okay, the pieces were not as big as I would've wanted and I felt I was eating more batter than actual meat. The buffalo chicken dip was my favorite. Very tasty and there was a good amount of chicken in it. The fried wings were also great as we got sweet and sour flavor with ranch. This rating is for my most recent experience where I called to order a large Cobb salad. When I think large I think a decent portion. I was asked if I wanted chicken and I said yes, however the pictures will show that I paid $23.55 minus tip for their "large" salad. I returned and Peter, the manager confirmed the portion were correct. However 8.50 for that amount of chicken is crazy. He was kind enough to knock $5 off the order. Victor however, the guy who took my order over the phone did state in front of me and the manager, "oh the chicken price is the same whether you order small or large so make sure you tell people that." Really Victor? You failed to say that over the phone to me and then you throw out it out there after the fact. The marinara sauce was nice and hot and the cheese pulled apart just the way it should. Monza Pizza- A toned down version of the meathead pizza with pepperoni, italian sausage, chicken and marinara sauce. It was pretty good I enjoyed all the meats but the dough was too chewy. I do like the thin crust style. Creme Brulee- my favorite part of the meal!!! The custard was a bit thicker than how I've had other creme brulee but it was still melt in your mouth deliciousness. It was sweet, rich and topped with a perfect hard caramel. I can't wait to come back and try their other items - to the pizza and pasta, it all sounds very good. Such great food.  Salads and Soups were on point.  Full and Hearty Salads, Delicious Soups, Breads or other Apps can start you off.  Then order Pizza.  Any one of their Pizza flavors comes in Flatbread or Pie.  All are so, so very good.  Freshly made ingredients, cooked well in the brick oven, little to zero grease or oil, absolutely superb. A Beer, Wine, and Cocktail list that seems to go on forever, you'll have something on the Drinks menu to wet the whistle for sure. Dessert to follow can be one of six items on the Dessert menu.  We chose the Crème Brulee and a slice of the Hazelnut Chocolate Cake.  Both were extraordinary. A great bar area, a couple of plasmas and a well stocked bar with all your favorites. A nice selection of top shelf Whiskey, Vodka & Tequila. They have Peroni on tap! Check out the wood grain looking bar, it looks like real wood but it's actually concrete covered with clear coat polyurethane. On the weekends, check out the brunch with pork chops, pork tenderloin, pasta, fresh salad and new potatoes and custom made omelets made by Chef Jose...all for $15 bucks. Very Disappointing......... The restaurant is in a nice part of town. The interior is nice. It has the type of atmosphere where you can hang out with your friends to grab a drink or have a romantic date... Here's what went wrong.... I ordered a caesar salad to go along with my pizza. Disappointed to see that we got the but end of the lettuce, you know where it's mostly yellow and soggy. Next, came the overdone, damn near burnt mozzarella sticks. How can our server not look at that before hand and say something to the person who made them to re-do them? Honestly.. would you serve someone burnt food before bringing it to the table? The last straw was our pizza. Although this restaurant is NOT lying when they say that they serve wood fired pizza, the quality of the pizza remains questionable. This pizza tasted like it was frozen. You know that twang you get when you eat frozen food? Yeah.... that was our pizza.. So, with that said... we spent $55 for the two of us when we should have went across the street to Okras'. Maybe our food would have been better. Chicken was very dry, it was supposed to have a "zesty" rub but it wasn't at all. Rice was delicious. Broccoli was soggy and overcooked. Wow, what a beautiful interior! The bar area is gorgeous and it's a very open and inviting space. I went here on a Saturday afternoon with my dad and sister and they weren't busy at all, maybe two other tables were there. Our waitress was very friendly and didn't bother us often despite the slow day. We started with the calamari and the baked spinach and artichoke crab dip. I pretty much always love calamari, so not much to report there. But, this crab dip! Yum! I love the addition of the crab to the classic spinach and artichoke dip and it came out piping hot. It's creamy, cheesy, and perfectly scoop-able with the tortilla chips. Our entrees: Jack's Special - capellini, shrimp, crabmeat, scallops, white wine lemon butter sauce Mushroom Risotto & Filet Tips - blackened filet mignon tips, wild mushroom risotto, butter, parmesan Tortellini Crema Rosa - cheese tortellini, chicken, mushrooms, rose cream sauce I ordered the tortellini crema rosa entree, but I also decided to try the Drunken Smoked Bacon Mussels (garlic, shallots, dijon creme fraiche, crostini). Now, I ordered this because I'm used to mussel appetizers only having like four mussels, so I figured I might as well try it. However, it's a large portion! They were delicious - it's served with a fantastic broth that the crostini soaks up wonderfully. I found myself eating the mussels more than my pasta, so yay for leftovers! My pasta sauce was perfectttt! It was thick, bold, and flavorful. I'm especially impressed because I tried my dad's plate, Jack's Special, and preferred mine over his seafood, which is a rare occasion for me. Like I mentioned, I took home leftovers because I also tried the mussels, but otherwise the portion sizes here are perfect. They aren't heaping plates of average tasting pasta, or teeny-tiny presentations of high-end pasta. The perfect portion for a delicious meal. The mushroom risotto and filet tips -- wow. The meat was incredibly tender and super red on the inside. My sister ordered medium rare and I would say it came out a tad more on the rare side, but for her (and me) that is noooo problem. I would rather have a juicy, succulent piece of meat than something overcooked! The risotto was cooked perfectly and, again, great portion size. I can picture Monza being the perfect place for date night - it's an open, bright dining space in the afternoon and the ambiance at night would be so romantic.
