They don't have the most exciting flavors that the city is known to be touting nowadays (eclectic sweet savory combinations and random mix-ins), but they do the classic flavors and tastes pretty well. I knew we were in for a treat when I saw a bunch of nuts in the mix-in ice cream flavors. The service was very kind and always with a smile, and the sampling was in large portions, and they didn't skimp out on the mix-ins for the sampling at all! I sampled the coconut with chocolate almonds (which is what I got in the end) and the pistachio, and both sampling spoons contained the entire nut itself! (usually they won't give you those since they're expensive). Portions were HUGE. It came out to $3.75 which is already great pricing compared to the city, and 1 scoop was pretty much the size of what 2 scoops would be. Anyway, the ice cream itself was fantastic, and mine specifically had a bunch of entire almonds in it - absolutely love the crunchy texture in the rich, creamy ice cream, and it definitely didn't disappoint! My only gripe about this place is they should get more types of cones. I sampled the chocolate almond and a scoop each of vanilla and chocolate Oreo. None of the flavors stood out to me with the rich and creamy deliciousness that I expect in great ice cream. The place itself is cute, and perfectly located with views of the Hudson River and West Point just across the way from the shop. The prices are on the high end, starting at $4.60 plus tax for a single scoop. If the ice cream tasted better, I would have felt my trip out to Cold Springs to Moo Moo's was worth it (despite the high prices), but the average product is not something I would recommend to others as an experience to go out of the way for. read more

They have so many wonderful flavors that area all made fresh daily, and can sometimes run out so get there early for the best flavors of the day. Creamy, luscious , not overly sweet, perfection. They even ran out of certain flavors of ice cream because of the amount of people that came inside. When my boyfriend and I got our ice cream, we sat outside and looked at the beautiful Hudson River in front of the place. My boyfriend and I got 2 big scoops on a waffle cone. The tiramisu was good, but not great. I was debating between tiramisu and my go to flavor - mint chocolate chip, but I wanted to try something different. My boyfriend got the nilla-nilla wafer ice cream which he thought tasted great. When they say 2 big scoops, let me tell you, they give you a HUGE amount of scoops. It took me forever to finish. I was able to visit this establishment five times last week. I was very impressed with all their unusual flavors including maple bacon, Strawberry chocolate chip, nutellawalnut, Blueberry, and black raspberry. they do not publicize the half scoop which is about the size of a single scoop which is more than enough ice cream and is a little less expensive, However it is great ice cream and I did not mind paying a little more for the ice cream and a bathroom close to the waterfront in Coldspring. they also stocked fancy bottles of soda! read more

Came here with some friends on a July weekend. After walking around the quaint town of Cold Spring, we stopped here to get some ice cream because it was hot outside and it's summer, so why not?? I had the "WalNutella" flavor, which was recommended to me by one of the servers as a summertime favorite and I gotta say it was HEAVENLY. Maybe it's because I had some other subpar ice creams lately, but this one was seriously good. The staff are super young, which is why I think people have likely complained about the service and the attitudes. I went for the mint fudge oreo, but there was also a colorful cake batter, dulce de leche, strawberry oreo and the pistachio was also very tasty. One giant scoop for $4.53 (includes tax) is more than enough if you're in need of a sweet, cold treat. I'd definitely recommend the ice cream here, and I was lucky enough to miss the line entirely. There were about 12-14 flavors (that may change day to day, I don't know) to choose from. Keep in mind that one scoop here, is like 2-3 scoops from your local Carvel. The serving size is huge, and you can ask the servers to split your one scoop into two flavors if you can't make up your mind as to what to get. That's what I did and I got Blueberry and Caramel Cashew. AMAZING. I love when ice cream borders on custard and is so thick that it's almost chewy; and that's exactly what I got. I've been here 3 times, each time after walking through Breakneck Ridge. I look forward to it each time because it's basically my treat for putting up with all the hiking. I've never really had a bad experience here, the staff is usually very friendly and let you try as many flavors as you'd like, even when it's busy. The last time I got the blueberry and strawberry cheesecake mixed and that's basically a meal in and of itself. I never got a bad flavor and I've never had a bad experience there. read more

So good, I ordered 4 flavors! The ice cream texture is dense and creamy and has that lovely milk-y flavor I love. The flavor selection changes daily and are dreamed up and made by the owner. My faves were chocolate thin mint and s'mores. Amazingly the marshmallows in the s'mores stayed chewy and soft instead of freezing into hard bricks. Came to Cold Spring after a long hike at Mt. Taurus - ending the day here could not have been a more perfect conclusion to our trip! The line can get quite long and even out the door; we had to wait about 20 mins - but once it was our turn, we were given the option to sample some of the flavors. I already made up my mind so I didn't need to (and I also felt bad about holding up the line), so I got 1 big scoop, but split it between Oreo and Butter pecan (PROTIP: you can get different flavors within 1 scoop!). The concept of "one scoop" here is more like 3 scoops - to quote someone I overheard while waiting: "this is an illegal amount of ice cream." Indeed, it is, as I had to call it quits and chuck my ice cream before I even got to the cone! The flavors I tried were absolutely delicious! Mine were classic flavors, so you can't go wrong with those. My friend got the maple bacon, which was delicious (I should've gotten that instead!). The shortbread cookie was more like regular vanilla and a good "safe" flavor. I got mine on a waffle cone, but asked for a cup on the side as it was a heaping pile of ice cream and was very likely to fall (it did). Mine came out to a little over 5 bucks - honestly pretty reasonable given the quantity. Note that they have a $10 minimum credit card charge.
