I've been coming MOON for many year with friends and family. I eat there typically twice a month. Food has always been very good for the most part which is why I keep going there. In the past year or so, I noticed they seem to want to change to a more sports bar theme. Staff used to be more well-dressed, collared shirt, professional restuarant looking waitress and waiters. Now their dress attire is too casual, hoodies, random graphic T-shirts, Daisy Duke cut-off shorts. Each waitstaff dresses in their own personal street clothes. Some of them don't look like they even work there. It looks out of place and less professional almost like a dive-bar. Even other sports bars have required uniforms which make them more professional looking. It doesn't match Moon's Thai-Japanese restaurant ambiance. IMO, It's not a good first impression for new customers. I will continue to go there because the service and food quality is still very good, and in the end, that's the most important thing that matters to me. read more

I wanted to like this place. Despite the overall rating being under four stars, there were several recent reviews that were stellar. I was sadly disappointed. The restaurant itself is attractive. I arrive for lunch and it was empty. Despite nice seating in rooms with TV where I could watch the World Cup they sent me in the bar where the TVs were turned off. I came here specifically because when I searched it online and looked at the menu for the Kendall restaurant. There was a wonderful lunch menu with good pricing and excellent choices. However, when I asked the waiter/bartender for lunch menu, he said they don't have one. When I pointed out, I found it online, said that is only for the Coral Gables restaurant. When I showed him that clicking on the menus for Kendall specifically showed a lunch menu he shrugged his shoulders and said I could not have it. I was taking it back because none of the ingredients on the lunch menu were unavailable so it would've been easier to make me what I was ordering rather than blowing me off. But blow me off he did. I was hungry, so I decided to order one of the combinations. It was well priced although higher than what I was planning to pay for lunch. I started with the salad, which was your typical salad that you get an Asian restaurant. What I did like was that they served the dressing on the side, which is really nice because they tend to overdo it when they put it on themselves in most Japanese restaurants. When the food came out, it was to include a California roll chicken teriyaki some sashimi and sushi. The California roll was quite good, although it was very heavy on the rice. The chicken teriyaki was not served with rice, which was strange because it would've been nice with the sauce to have some. The fish was at best average; it was fresh, but it was not particularly flavorful. The overall experience was average. Problematic because of the refusal to serve the menu that they advertise, to be seated in the only area where I could not watch the game that was being televised on the TVs, and the poor attitude when I asked about the menu, reduce the experience substantially and average food is not enough to overcome that. This is a restaurant that I can pass on as there are far better choices for this cuisine. read more

this was my favoriteee sushi place to go to growing up. great food and great service, but just went last week for my birthday and the changed all the menus to AI photos. I am strongly against AI and the old menus with pictures were perfectly fine. would strongly recommend going to any other restaurant that doesn't use ai, whoever the owner is messed up because they no longer have my family's loyalty. glad to know they'd rather burn up a bunch of water than pay a graphic designer to just design a new menu. read more

The ambiance is a trendy sushi/thai restaurant mixed w a sports bar( because of all the TVs). There is an over all red vibe in the main dining rooms and the bar had a softer overtone. Services was excellent, from greeting to server and even their farewell! We started with 2 house salads. Never before have i ever been given enough dressing and not have to ask for more. I even had enough to add some extra flavor to ny other dishes lol. The tuna tataki was gently seared and fresh. We did ask for some wasabi to spruce up the heat. Next we had the chicken larp ( it is their version of lettuce wraps). These are served w fresh basil, cilantro, and lime. So refreshing! My only advice would be bigger pieces of lettuce to make it easier to eat. For entree I ordered the rock and roll shrimp. These guys were my only disappointment. They look nothing like the picture in the menu. I also thought by the name they would have a little kick, but to my surprise slightly sweet. This is my first time ordering/trying food from this restaurant. I called to place an order for pickup @ 6:34pm. I could hardly understand the young woman on the phone and we had a discussion about what type of rice I wanted with my Pad Thai- which confused me bc it's already a noodle dish.... I was told it would be about 30 minutes. I arrived at 35 minutes to be told I never ordered Pad Thai.... and had to remind her of the conversation on the phone... and told to wait another 10+ minutes bc I never ordered that... Went to this location at around 4pm, Friday the 20th of February, to have a late lunch/early dinner with my sister, niece and son. There was only a couple sitting at a booth table and NOONE else was eating yet in the restaurant. We were sat down by the host and given menus. First thing we noticed was the table and menus were sticky. My sister decided to clean the table herself when I suggested to leave. Then our waiter, Sean came and asked what we would like to drink. We were about to order from the bar UNTIL he mention that the bartender (female with colored hair) is on break and he will be making the drinks himself (if they were easy). I decided to order a beer and my sister asked for a full moon. Sean comes back 15 mins later stating he couldn't make the drink. At that point, my sister ordered a glass of wine, SEAN didn't have us convinced that he could make any mix drinks. We even requested a mocktail and he couldn't even prepare that!!! Afterwards we requested (2) orders of shrimp dumplings. Sean comes back 10 minutes later to state that he was informed that there is no shrimp dumplings. So, I have ordered often because I love the food. Like it tastes fresh and flavorful. However, I would just let you know that it's expensive. They want to charge 7.00 for 3 shrimp!! I couldn't believe it. After spending 50.00 on food they wanted to charge extra for one side of soy sauce and chili paste. That's crazy unless you're requesting like 10 of them!! When you walk in it smells like cleaning products so that was not a great sign or start. We sat in a booth and ordered tuna tartare and a side salad with ginger dressing which were both good. The food here is sooooo good !!! I had the chicken fried rice and thy give you so much and they do not skimp on the meat. The shrimp spicy roll was also super good and paired with the spicy mayo was literal heaven. Always come to this location and every time is a new experience. Today's visit was good and the service was outstanding. Food was excellent and with the right temperature. If you do come here the menu changed. The bulky menus were changed for paper ones and it takes a few to adjust but is easy. The waiter advised that the menu was made.smaller as many dishes were taken out while some new ones were added. The ambiance was good and not busy.
