With a recent change in ownership, the new owners Jay and Pam along with "food consultant" Mike, have laser focussed the staff on superb quality food and bev product with an emphasis on great friendly service second to none! This is classic sports bar food, but the wraps weren't that good nor was the side dish. Lots of 65 plus regulars filling the bar. Strange menu with one Mexican dish and some meatballs. The chicken ceasar wrap didn't have the advertised avocado, the wrap was hot, too salty and too much dressing. The tots were also incredibly salty. read more

I was looks for a ham steak breakfast and this restaurant was recommended. They were slightly busy but seated quickly. Drink ordered but required asking again to get right. Service is slow as busy. Ordered food with eggs ham and home fries. Ham was not bone in but small slice of ham. My home fries were terrible. They actually added red and green peppers which made Them horrible flavor. Told Server and got sorry. Sad ...won't return. Price for 1 meal and drink was 20 bucks. Much better choices out there read more

The beef were ground beef & need more flavor like at least taco mix, the crunchy shell has got to be "old El Paso" which are tasteless!! $4 each!! Then we ordered nachos....ugh! Cheez whiz on nachos?? NO!! Please use real shredded cheese please!! The 99cent Margaritas were actually flavorful & they did not skimp on tequila! Average food and average if not below atmosphere. The fees for using credit cards feel a little "grabby" at the prices they are charging for the meals. One may think that they are looking to avoid reporting the sales that are paid in cash to avoid being accountable for sales tax to the state. From a customer perspective, what's next? They've started tacking on a 2.5% convenience fee for paying with a credit card and supposedly giving you a 5% discount for using cash. Well we paid with cash, didn't get 5% discount and we were charged the convenience fee. See photo of receipt. Never going back there except to fight over charges on the receipt. New ownership is ripping customers off and the food quality has gone down. Only reason they got one star is because Bailey is a great bartender. Got my the overcharge back but I still won't be back for food Like a previous reviewer said the "Steak and Mushroom melt" is no longer steak. We have been going to Moon Valley Grill for at least 15 years. The food has always been awesome. They have recently added a fish taco special on Tuesday and Friday that is just awesome too. An all day item. Today we discovered a one time special (that needs to be added to the regular menu), ceviche and chips. I'd come by any time it's on the special menu!! Stopped in on a hot, hot, hot summer Friday. Bar area was busy but restaurant side was not. We opted to not have alcohol and just have dinner. After sitting in a booth we were immediately greeted by a server and given menus. Drink order taken. Two Cokes brought within a minute or two. Menu is a decent size so server asked if we needed a "few" minutes. We did. Those few minutes turned into about ten. Mind you there was only one other table occupied in the restaurant side. Finally when our order was taken, food arrived in about 10 minutes, by I assume the kitchen help. One prime rib sliders with tots. One BBQ bacon cheeseburger with seasoned fries. Food was slightly above par. Fries and tots hot, cooked by to order. Prime rib was more like food service distributor quality. Should be called French Dip sliders. Was ok, a touch salty. Burger was presented nicely but just a burger. Server only returned to give us our check. No drink refills. Overall it was a average experience. If service would have been more attentive definitely probably would have been a solid 3.5 or a 4 star experience. read more

I have lived in Moon Valley for years and MVG was always a favorite but over the years the place went down hill. Not anymore, the new owner has completely redid the bathrooms from the ground up, updated all the TV's, repainted and cleaned the place up, and also dropped the food prices. Nobody drops food prices but MVG did. I got my local neighborhood bar back and the atmosphere is awesome. Everyone there is friendly and the staff is awesome. You can get an awesome burger here that costs less than McDonald's and they always have different food specials. I believe her name is Charlotte and also Vicky kick butt, fast service. Couldn't be happier to have this place in my neighborhood. Sunday football is awesome there as well, tons of new TV's. This is my go to place to have a beer, get a bite to eat, and enjoy a game. I try stopping in here at least once a week, as the vibe of MVG is more to my liking. There are a lot of local dive bars in a three to four mile radius, but some of those crowds are typically on the rowdier, much younger side. I won't divulge my age, but suffice it to say that I'm a few years removed from my prime, but still enjoy an occasional good time with those I have more in common. Don't get me wrong: there is, especially on football weekends, a number of younger people getting loud and having a great time there, as well. It's a nice mix! The food is, IMHO, really quite good. It's not five star, but how many bar-restaurants really are? The beer is cold, the cocktails are good, and served by a friendly wait and bar staff that typically smile and make you feel welcome. I mean, what else can one ask for? The place has been remodeled and looks 10 times better than it did before. Kudos to the new owners for that. I love this bar! read more

I came in here for the first time with a buddy from work, and the vibe was so amazing. Truly a hole in the wall experience. The food here is really good as well-- the burgers especially. There's a group of us (6-9) who have gone here every Wednesday evening for many years. Apparently there has been a change in ownership. This has resulted in a major change in the kitchen. I.e., The steak mushroom sandwich went from medium rare sliced real steak to something close to well done ground beef. They may trying to squeeze out more REI.
