Daniel was terrific with tree suggestions and showing me how the project would look with digital images. He even provided us with a contractor to build retaining walls for our planting beds. My partner and I are in a new build community and one of our trees have sadly died. We went into Moon Valley Nursery on the recommendation of a neighbor. We were mostly there to ask questions and ballpark prices. Harrison greeted us and was so helpful. You can tell he really knows his stuff and loves what he does. He guided us to trees that would fit our needs. Ultimately, we didn't end up getting anything because the cost was more than we had thought it'd be. Very expensive, marginal service and products. Promises to correct issues have so far have proven to be lip service. The trees (costing $15k), on delivery showed stresses normally associated with transplantation hence unlikely to be container grown as stated. Given the pricing, proof of a tree being container grown should be required prior to purchase. Without such evidence, trees should be considered (and priced) as recent transplants. read more

Moon Valley is basically an expensive car dealership that happens to sell trees instead of cars. Just like most car dealerships, they're expensive for what you get, but you don't have a choice if you want a large tree as they are the only place in town selling 15 year old trees. The sales process was very good...just like a car dealership. They talked us through which tree to purchase and were helpful with questions. Also just like a car dealership, they heavily pushed the extended warranty. The reason my review is a 2. star instead of higher is due to how rough they were when installing the tree and how they almost destroyed my fence in the process of installing it. Before we bought the tree we had asked how they would get the tree in our yard. They offered all sorts of ideas like taking off the planter, maybe using a crane or sorts, but the day of the the crew physically just forced the tree through the gate and pushed the gate posts apart using the weight of the tree....for $5000 I would expect them to not attempt to destroy my fence in the process... Overall, very expensive, not the best installation service, but if you need a large tree fast...you have no choice but to use them. read more

We purchased two - 20 foot Southern Live Oak trees from Moon Valley and the are beautiful. Ricardo and Ryan did an exceptional job at making sure the crew turned the trees just the way we wanted. They worked fast and efficiently and we couldn't be happier with the trees and the service. They also told us how to take care of the trees as well. It says a lot about a company that all of the workers were in good moods. I highly recommend Moon Valley for your next tree or palm purchase. I will start by saying I did not purchase anything here, and was initially very pleased with their response. An employee found me shortly after arrival, offered me water, and walked around with me to try to find the plant (a clumping bamboo) I was looking for. They claimed to have just what I needed: a clumping, non runner bamboo (which is invasive and can very expensive to eradicate as it takes over your lawn and your neighbors). Here is where the issue lies for me and any uneducated customer: They are selling Golden Bamboo, which is an invasive, running bamboo. The employee had told me it was clumping and not invasive, and had I not done research, I might have believe their "expertise." Do any search on Golden bamboo and you will see it is invasive. I was easily able to verify this as the root system in the very large plot had already wrapped around in a circle, a clear identifier of "running" bamboo. Be wary of buying plants here, as they apparently are not completely knowledgeable and I feel any nursery that sells a very invasive species at all should be reported. read more

Holy moly! My wife and I went shopping for trees -- a thing I didn't ever think of saying before. We were met at the gates in a friendly manner, started talking, and soon found our trees. Today, almost 2 months later, our trees were "installed" (they are far too large to call "planted"). The delivery crew called the day before to excavate, they called the day before to arrange a delivery time, and the delivery crew was simply amazing! We had a complex delivery: 1 x 35 foot specimen Red Oak (gorgeous!) and 2 x 12 foot large Mexican Sycamores. Moving around a 35' tree is not for the faint of heart, nor the brawny -- it requires hydraulic assistance and it was on hand. The 5 man crew planned their installation, and installed the tree into the whole dug into my yard the day before. The trees are gorgeous! And they were "installed" (planted, if you will), with care for them. We received care guidance, friendly service, and timely and efficient service for a non-trivial project. 100% would use again and again. Moon Valley, from greeting to installation was perfect. I could not ask for anything more from anyone we were involved with, from sales to installation/planting. read more

After visiting Moon Valley Nurseries, and getting a walkthrough with Robert Hill, he came to our home and took pictures, which he later used to show us what kind of trees/shrubs he'd recommend, we decided to start with as Magnolia tree and got on their list for installation. I received a flag from Him to mark where we'd like the tree planted, and the day before delivery, a crew arrived to dig the hole. The next day, when Damien and his crew arrived (just when they said they would, within a 2 hr timeframe, not 4 or 6!), they planted the tree, aligned it the east I wanted it, added fertilizer AND moon Juice to ensure the tree would be able to start off correctly. Then, after adding mulch and watered the tree very well, then left everything nice and clean. They even used a tarp to haul away the large rocks, which were taken out of the hole, instead of leaving them behind. Watering suggestions and care guidelines came next, and in less than an hour, the whole task was complete, and they were off to make another customer happy!! We stopped by Moon Valley Nurseries and were looking for a ~15 year old Maple Tree to add to our back yard. Met with Daniel Ortiz and we completed the sale of the tree. The selection of trees was amazing compared to other places we had been. They set up the delivery time, utility line markings and were on schedule with the planting. The came out the day before and dug the hole and they planted the tree the next day. The planting was great and they used 3 stakes to secure the tree. We have had other trees planted from other nurseries and we will not go anywhere else other than Moon Valley. The communication was perfect from Aimee and she always keep us in the loop. I can't believe this place! Bought 8 trees, they came a month later , dug carelessly (even though there's clearly sprinkle heads around) broke some pipes of my sprinkler system, planted the trees, left, didn't fix anything. Found out they won't fix it nor cover the repairs it's in " our contract " . Lots of other options out there. Get your plants in other nurserie and find someone ok task rabbit or landscaper referral to plant it. Cheaper and they night actually repair their mess if they make any. read more

I purchased a beautiful palm for the front of my home. Luckily, when Nick Debs and his crew did the installation, he encouraged me to purchase a warranty to protect my investment. When the 2nd freeze hit, Nick and his crew returned to remove the dead palm and plant the new replacement, a more cold hardy variety. He also taught me how to use palm food to promote strong roots and accelerate the growth of my other freeze damaged palms. As an experiment I only used the palm food on one of my 2 identical palms. Now the pampered palm is twice the size of its twin and my neighbors often comment on how beautiful the tree has become in just 6 months. Nick really turned my freeze disaster around. I spent $12,600 on 5 palm trees. On June 26, the Moon Valley team cut a sprinkler pipe (without permission; instructions were to put the tree wherever they could if a sprinkler was in the way) and put the tree on top. They left the pipe as is (no caps or anything). They didn't even finish planting the tree. So now I have an unplanted tree sitting on top of a cut sprinkler pipe and the other end of the pipe is sticking out of the ground. I have contacted Moon Valley many times and they have said they would fix it but they still haven't. See pics. Additionally, a few days before the trees were planted, we had put down 6-8" of brand new mulch in the area where the palms were planted. When the Moon Valley team dug the holes for the new palms, they didn't haul the excess dirt out or even dump it elsewhere on our property. Instead, they put it on top of our new mulch, and covered it up with a light layer of our own mulch. It left the entire area looking terrible (clumpy, not even close to flat, not suitable for planting). They even jammed some of the mud into landscaping rocks. See pics. However, last year, we had five trees planted and they did an excellent job. Not sure what happened but this new crew did a terrible job and trying to get it fixed has been an awful experience. Still can't use our sprinklers! The fact that they left it unplanted with a cut pipe sticking out of the ground is absurd. See pics. Still trying to get ahold of someone to fix it. Still no responses. Hoping the tree doesn't die. read more
