My husband and I worked with Worthington Foster to pick out the tree we wanted ... the process was easy. Worthington is very knowledgeable and informative and a delight to work with. What wasn't easy was satisfying the City of Menlo Park as the tree we wanted was not acceptable to the MP arborist who advised that the tree we chose would not reach 35 ft. at maturity! We called Worthington to advise of the situation, and he immediately helped us find another tree that would satisfy the City of Menlo Park, changed the paperwork and gave us the same delivery/planting date. On the day of delivery/planting, it was discovered that there were large roots in the area we wanted the tree planted, therefore, they could not plant the tree until all the roots were removed. Another vendor was suggested to do that work. So the tree, the equipment, the men all left to come back another day. We researched another tree, called Worthington and he found a beautiful replacement, giving us another delivery/planting date. The City of MP gave us approval for the new tree. The night before the delivery/planting date, my husband had a massive heart attack and was taken to the hospital. The following morning I called Worthington to advise of the situation. He took control of the process, asking the direction we wanted the fullest part of the tree, then worked directly with the install team to get the job done so I could rush back to the hospital. Arturo and the team did an amazing job, and as others have written "professional to the highest degree," and left the property with the BEAUTIFULLY shaped tree planted in a perfect position, the debris TOTALLY cleaned up all the area around the tree with beautiful ground work that was a piece of art!!! We highly recommend, with great confidence Moon Valley Gilroy, and their professional sales and delivery/planting staff ... absolutely the BEST! read more

We bought a beautiful huge California pepper tree from Moon Valley Nurseries and they made the buying and planting process absolutely seamless. They had reminders about PG&e coming to check out the spot they would dig (they set that all up I didn't need to lift a finger), and showed up promptly on the day of delivery and took excellent care in their planting. The tree has two support posts and easy directions for tree care were given that day. I'm very happy and 100% recommend these guys!! read more

I am not familiar with the service here. I only spoke to a woman named Ani on the phone. For one thing, she knew nothing about citrus. Which I would imagine is a very common order for any nursery. In order to yield viable fruit from a citrus tree, the scion needs to be grafted onto a compatible rootstock. She became befuddled and asked me to explain myself. When we got around to the size and price of the tree, they wanted $1500 for their smallest, which, according to Ani, would stand 6 to 8 feet in the ground. Anything bigger was $5000 or more. No wonder these nurseries are located everywhere. They've been ripping their customers off for years. I could plant the tree myself. I've done it 100 times. Why would anyone need that kind of money to perform such a simple task? read more

Update Jan. 2024: One of the three trees we bought sadly didn't take root and had problems. So thank goodness for that MVP ProCare plan! Moon Nurseries replaced the tree and Hector and his crew were very careful to examine the area, and give the soil extra amendments and turned over the soil. He gave me detailed instructions for care and a timeline so I knew exactly how to give this tree its best chances. He patiently answered all my questions. And his crew was very respectful of the property and cleaned up after planting. Again, stellar service and one that I would highly recommend. read more

I was recently on the market for some nice looking privacy trees for my front yard. I was referred to Moon Valley by a friend. My first meeting was with Niki. She was great and knew exactly the right tree to recommend. She drove me around and explained all the necessary options and details. She used Google Maps to visualize the planting space and made a recommendation on number of trees and spacing in between to accomplish my goal. Niki quoted me, but timing was not quite right. After a few weeks, I received a call from Thomas and we continued the discussion on price and timing. Thomas was also very helpful and easy to work with. Timing was better so I agreed to purchase. Delivery and installation was managed by Arturo (Arthur) and his crew. They were on time, professional and did a great job. Arturo speaks excellent English and answered my many questions with ease and clarity. They also helped dump extra dirt where I requested and cleaned up any left over debris from my driveway. Mark called the next day after install to check on the install and answer any additional questions for me. Mark was also very helpful and professional. I followed up a week or so later with double staking of the trees so they stay stable and upright. The trees I selected are a bit top heavy so wanted the extra assurance the staking provides. All in all, I'm very happy with my experience and across the board, everyone (Niki, Thomas, Arturo, Mark) that I interacted with were fantastic. read more

Great service. We were toured around the 38 acre property in a golf cart by a sales staff member. They have a huge selection of mature trees. This is not your average tree nursery. Purchase cones with installation and warranty. They do charge for delivery and extras like crane, or reach ahead service. If you are looking for large trees and shrubs these guys have the selection and great quality. They will be helping me plan my landscape project. We are very happy with our new trees from Moon Valley Nurseries. Everything from choosing our trees to planting in our yard was a great experience. Thank you to Eduardo for taking us around the nursery, showing us all the trees and listening to us and finding what we truly liked. Eduardo regularly followed up over the phone and helped us change a tree a few weeks later, sending us videos and pictures, saving us a long drive back to the nursery. On the day of installation, Hector and his crew were professional, quick, and attentive. A big thanks also to him and the 3 other folks working. Hector and the others were able to get the trees and bushes exactly where we wanted them, working around irrigation piping. They took care of the grass that was just newly planted, moving it and extra dirt to other places in the yard, making everything looking balanced and clean. Hector helped me find the best direction for the trees to face and I could see his crew go to every tree and make sure they were standing perfectly straight. They were also very thorough with cleanup afterwards. My family and I are enjoying the new landscaping and are very excited to see these trees grow and blossom. read more

We needed several trees for a privacy screen in our backyard. After visiting Moon Valley in Gilroy we spoke with the team and got a great recommendation - several column Indian Laurel (Ficus nitida) trees. We paid and scheduled the delivery/planting day several weeks later. That day, Marcos Q and his team arrived within the appointment window and brought enough guys to get the work done quickly and efficiently. They even took a bit of extra time to dig out a stump we found just below the soil surface to complete the job in one visit. We are excited to watch our trees grow and make our backyard even better. We purchased two Japanese Maples (in 24" boxes) with the protection plan. Best price of all the places we looked. A crew of five guys showed up with the trees on the scheduled day and took about 2 hours to plant them in our back yard. They scheduled PG&E come check for underground utilities several days before hand. This was about as painless as it gets. I know that had I purchased a tree from the local garden center I would have had to work with a third party to plant the trees. Great service from start to finish - from quick help from Devon when we first arrived, to selection, purchase, scheduling, removing old trees, calling 811, stump grinding, digging holes for the new trees, installation, and cleanup. I really appreciate that Moon Valley Nurseries is a one-stop-shop and they handled every step of the process. If I had known it was this easy, I would have visited years ago! The crews all arrived on the early side of their estimated time frame, and each crew called ahead when they were 30 minutes out. We have had a really really bad experience with moon valley. Save your money and go somewhere else. We were sold 11 laurel trees by Thomas. He was selling a lot of things and didn't mention clearly about the packages. The price was premium compared to other places but we went with them coz of the additional support. On the day of planting the men didn't even put supporting posts and planted the trees crooked. When we asked they said they give support to the plants but we need to buy a more expensive $$ package which we were not told before. Making the cost astronomical. After 1 month, 2 of the trees are dying. Other 3-4 are on the verge of dying. After a lot of effort if we can reach the sales guy Thomas he is giving remedy on phone without even coming in to look at what's wrong as their guys planted it. We have 90 day plant protection policy. But so far it's been a horrible experience. Please save your time and money and find other nurseries. read more

Discovered the nursery by accident and loved the plants in the nursery. We hooked up with designer Angelica who helped us pick the plants and scheduled the planting at my home in Almaden Valley. On the day of planting, Nate and 3 teammates came by in a big truck on February 11, 2023, and planned all 8 trees, 1 blueberry bush, 6 icebergs rose bushes( 3 pink and 3burgundy) , 3 gardenias, 6 lemon cypress, and 4 herb plants. There were two issues as here 1. Iceberg roses bushes- Our order was for 3 burgundy iceberg roses bushes and 3 pinks. But we got all Pink roses. Discovered them only in mid-April, as then only the plants bloomed to show all pink. Working with Angelica. 2. Boke one of my irrigation pipes, when planting the fig tree, which prevented my drip from working along the side of my home. Discovered only in mid-April, the irrigation pipe was broken, after all the rain stopped. During the entire planting time, I was reminding Nate and his team to watch out for the irrigation pipe. Got resolutions for both my issues, in June from the 5 stars team ! read more
