He had great energy, was very knowledgeable, and made the experience of choosing a tree and completing the necessary paperwork painless. He even hooked me up with some complimentary "Moon Juice" liquid fertilizer! Since the tree was too heavy for me to take home and plant, I opted for the delivery and install service they provide. I got a call from Patrick a day before the delivery date and he provided a specific timeframe that him and his crew would arrive. Sure enough they came right in the middle of the provided timeframe on delivery day. Patrick and his crew were very professional and were in and out in less than 30 minutes. They made sure to take away the extra dirt as well as all the trash and debris caused by the install. After having recently remodeled our house, our front and backyard was in dire need of a facelift. We worked with a few landscape designers, but the bids were just too high. After a day of wine tasting in Temecula, we decided to stop off at the Moon Nursery in Murrieta and check it out. Dave Moon and Andy (formerly of the Irvine store) did a great job of helping us out having never seen our house. They used pictures from our cell phones and google Earth to help come up with a game plan. We were excited with the decisions we made. After getting a quote, Moon was able to recommend a great landscape contractor to help us out with drainage and irrigation. So - after finalizing plans, we placed the order and Dave Moon came to our place to flag out where the plants would go... Delivery/planting day started out a little rough. Many of the plants that had been delivered were not as described. A few were not the correct plants at all. Long story short - we purchased our plants from the Murrieta store, but it was the Irvine store that made the delivery. So perhaps there was some confusion along the way. But our driver, Brad Toner, could not have done a better job to correct the situation. He saw which plants were wrong and IMMEDIATELY went back to Irvine to grab correct/better plants. 2 hours later, he was back with beautiful plants and palms... maybe even better than we had hoped or expected. Together with his crew of Frank (another invaluable asset to the Moon Irvine team), Manuel, Lerline and Alex, the boys at Moon Nursery of Irvine knocked it out of the park. The employees are so nice in the sales process but if you're not happy with their service or how the tree is planted they get super nasty about it. The manager refused to make a bigger hole. Then to find out We were misled with buying a magnolia tree which is now in a plantar next to a wall. We asked several times about the root system and the guy that showed us the tree said it will not be a problem. We found out it will be a major problem as roots grow horizontally and can eventually break down the wall. I find this type of business unscrupulous. Do NOT let them plant your trees. They will ALL die. I bought 5 trees from Moon Valley and they all died within the first year. 3 were replaced and still died within the first year of the initial planting. In contrast, I planted 5 other trees myself, in the same yard, in the same soil. Those 5 trees came from 3 other nurseries. 3 of the 5 trees were ordered online and arrived in cardboard boxes half way across the country. They are not only all still alive. They are all triple their original size and I planted them myself. The difference? I amended the soil upon planting. Cost: Their prices are high. This is because they are located in the heart of Irvin, CA and include planting. A typical 24" box tree runs about $300-350 in most surrounding areas but it's $700+ here for the same tree. Delivery is an extra $200 even if you live 2 miles away like I do. $100/mile seems excessive. They will warranty your trees for 3 months unless you purchase an extended warranty. What they don't tell you is that a replacement tree will cost you another $200 for delivery. That's 2/3 a cost of a whole new tree from any other place in the area, some of which include FREE delivery like C&J Gardening Center. Extended warranty's include free delivery but at a cost of $150/tree, that's not much better. Crews: I had 3 crews come out to the house over the course of a year. All crew leaders speak English well. Some are native Spanish speakers, some are native English speakers. All are friendly, quick and clean. Planting: As a previous reviewer mentioned, they do NOT amend your soil. They dig a hole, drop the tree in and fill it back up with some potting soil and the soil they dug up. This isn't the worst of it. They also planted all of the trees too deep. Every crew that came after the first crew pointed this out. Pictures were sent back to Moon Valley management. They agreed it was too deep. They would not replace any of the trees out of warranty and offered no recourse for remediation. I just dropped several thousand dollars for a crew to set them up to die and Moon Valley wouldn't do anything about it. Avoid this nursery. Buy elsewhere for half the price, often with free delivery. Amend the soil during planting and watch the depth. It's not that hard but somehow these "professionals" managed to get it completely wrong. read more

I purchased 8 trees from Moon Valley in 2022, beautiful trees, nothing negative to say. This year, 2024, I purchased 24 fruit trees. So I am a repeat customer. You would think that would count for something. I needed 2 semi dwarf Avacado trees in my 24 tree order. When Moon Valley came to install the 24 fruit trees, the 2 avocado trees were rejected because they were standard size, not what we wanted. They came back 2 months later to install what was to be 2 semi dwarf Avacado trees to replace the standard that were rejected. I was there and questioned whether those were the exact same trees that we rejected. No one spoke English and the tags identifying the trees had been removed. I have repeatedly contacted both Nick (manager?) and Jonathon (salesperson) to remedy this, nothing has been done about it. Nick did suggest that we just lop off the top of the tree. That was his solution for a $3,000 tree! I told him that wasn't a good plan, it would look horrible and we had just spent an enormous amount of money for all these trees. We now have a problem with our neighbor (it is blocking his view), and our HOA, they did not approve such a tall tree. Moon Valley has beautiful trees and they are very very expensive. So I expected the correct tree size and customer service commensurate with the pricing. Terrible customer service! read more

This nursery has a large selection of instant gratification trees. It has everything from fruit to bushes to beautiful flowering trees. Look no further if you want something that looks close to fully grown. Go elsewhere if you looking for advice down the road on multiple trees you purchased from them. All their products I was informed after being a customer for several years are designed for the newly planted. To that end, so is their service. They have a short warranty for the tree cost and if you want a tiny bit more, it will cost you extra. Having a 6 month warranty on a fruit tree is pretty worthless given that most fruit only one time a year. Extend it to a year for more money no way. I was hoping this would be more of both; newly planted and down the road as I apparently am no green thumb when it comes to fruit trees. read more

We went into Mood Valley last December and purchased some specimen trees which have been waiting for installation. Over the last 8 months we added several fruit trees and a privacy hedge. Mike Falco and his team Wilfredo, Cruz, and Emerson were awesome! When they showed up with a 25 foot tall sycamore and an Australian Flame that had to weigh 1000 lbs min. and just 4 guys I didn't quite understand how it would happen. I was waiting for the next group who had all the equipment and extra guys... Nope... those four guys managed to get it done! We couldn't believe our eyes. And they did a beautiful job on top of that! Mike and his crew all seem to get along great and they were a pleasure to be around. They wore their masks when necessary and worked their asses off non stop!
