I want to preface this review by saying that I have never been one to write reviews--positive or negative--online before, but I truly regret doing business with this company. I bought several costly trees from their Murrieta nursery in September 2023 and was so excited by the prospect of having the garden I've been dreaming about for decades. While I understood that Moon Valley Nursery's (MVN) pricing is higher than other places, the representatives there assured me that the higher cost reflects the higher quality of their product and customer service. Generally, I don't mind paying a bit more for a high-quality product if it means that I won't have to worry about it down the line. However, several of these so-called high-quality trees perished less than two years later. They sent an inspector to investigate what had gone wrong. The inspector concluded that the trees were diseased and overwatered. These trees are on the same watering cycle as all my other trees (see photos). MVN installed all these trees in the same area and set up the drip system for them, so how are some dying of overwatering while others are thriving? Furthermore, I firmly believe that MVN engages in deceptive pricing. They establish an outrageous "regular" price and then claim they are offering it at half-price to lure people into thinking they're getting a good deal. On any given day, a customer can walk onto the MVN site and be greeted by a flyer/price tag (photo attached) with an exorbitant regular price noted and a 'sale' price listed alongside it. It's an unethical, borderline criminal way of doing business, but they've been getting away with it for a long time. In addition to their exorbitant pricing, MVN customers should expect to pay hundreds more for "extended warranties" and trip charges. Given that MVN is a large, well-established corporation, one would think they would stand by their products and replace them, regardless of whether or not they were under warranty, especially in a situation like this, where half of my trees from and planted by them are fine, and the other half (in the same spot and on the same drip system) are dead. Instead, management declared that the trees were "out of warranty" and blamed me for not continuing to buy extended warranties, supposedly overwatering the trees, and not having a "green thumb." Then, to add insult to injury, they said the absolute best they could do was offer a half-price replacement, another trip charge, and another chance at their extended warranties--all while acting as if they were extending me a favor. In short, MVN's "high-quality" products and customer service are a sham, and I would not recommend them to anyone. read more

From start to finish it was a great experience. Amanda at the nursery was very helpful and not pushy at all. We bought from here a few years ago and the experience wasn't the smoothest, so my wife and I had avoided coming back. With the resent winds, some of our trees blew over so we thought we'd give it a chance. We are very glad we did, nothing but a great experience, hats off to Amanda's knowledge and helping hand. The installation process went swimmingly; Antonio Martinez and his crew were diligent and very respectful of my property. We are on 10 acres, some of the trees were going in the front, and some in the back, they didn't complain or even wince when I pointed off into the distance when asked where the other trees were going. The only problem was, once the new trees were put in, the other trees that we bought from a different nursery didn't look as good. I sent Amanda a text letting her know we needed to change out 3 more trees, she didn't hesitate, the quote was sent over quickly and those 3 new trees will be going in this Thursday. Julie came to our home and helped us build ideas for our back yard, she helped show us the package options, and we met her several times at the nursery to look at plants and choose specific ones for our yard. You get what you pay for and we have found Moon Valley to be exceptional. First, we would recommend you consider getting their tree insurance. It's about $100 to $200 extra per tree, but it covers twelve months of tree protection. Anything goes wrong, they come and fix or replace it. My understanding is that approximately 70% of their customers take the insurance. Which btw, it's what we did and it has saved us nearly a thousand dollar. You see, when you move a tree, it can go into shock -- as one of ours recently did, after a month in the ground. No problems, our sales person Chris introduced us to his Manager Stephanie, who took care of all the details. We then drove around in a golf cart with Amanda for nearly an hour looking at our choices. After no additional money changed hands, we arranged for delivery and planting, and we were on our way. We've been looking for a specific tree for some time... the Purple Orchid tree. I saw one planted near our condo and then again at Disneyland of all places! I began searching online and found it at this place, but they called it the Hong Kong Orchid. We went to check this place out because we love trees, plants and flowers! We parked and started walking to check out the trees. Someone quickly drove over to us in a golf cart and asked what we were looking for. The place is pretty big so he asked if he could give us a ride to the tree. We hopped on and saw our tree for the first time. The salesman said we would be adopting a tree if we decided to take one home. We ultimately decided to "adopt" our tree for about $1,400! That included the tree, tax, delivery and planting. I had no idea trees were this costly, but when you want something you make it happen. He also gave us a fragrant red rose to plant in our yard as well as some Moon Juice on the house. It took 6 weeks to get our tree after we purchased it :( Now that we have her, I can't wait for our tree, who our girls named, Violet, to start blooming her amazing, purple orchids! She's already grown and providing shade for us. She's a lovely edition to our backyard. read more

Julie Smith was our landscape designer. Upon our initial meeting my wife and I found her to be very nice, funny and knowledgeable. My wife and I explained what we were looking for and our plans. We walked out to the nursery and she explained the various plants and through the process of elimination we found the plants and the layout we were looking at for our backyard. Arrangements were made for a crew to come over to the house and plant our plants. The crew arrived several days later. The supervisor Antonio Martinez and his crew were superb. Antonio is a down to earth supervisor and made sure plants were in their correct position before planting. Each crew member once assigned an area of responsibility began planting. Plants are expensive at Moon but if you can afford to go there, their selection is awesome. We wanted to recognize John and his crew that do the delivery and planting of your purchases at Moon in French Valley. John's crew had planted 2 of 3 queen palms that were to be lined up with each other when the 3rd dig showed our main water line pipe and created the need to move the hole forward a bit. Without being asked, John had his guys replant the 2 already in the ground so they could line up perfectly with the 3rd tree. He offered all sorts of knowledge and suggestions about the different plants and trees. He made certain every tree was perfectly straight. Just bought a new home with a spacious backyard & I really wanted to have some beautiful hedges/ trees put in for privacy. I called this location to get some information a few months before I moved in & I spoke to someone named Caymen. He was very informative & helpful over the phone & informed me of the process being him coming out to do a site inspection of the area where the items will be planted & then us coming to the nursery to make our selections. He also stated an arborist was included & would come out 3 times a year for service on our selections. As we got closer we scheduled an appointment with him. The day of the appointment he called & forgot about telling me that the site inspection is the first step & when I reminded him that he told me the site inspection is the first step, he was confused. I understand it had been a while, but I was in constant communication with him. He came out to the site and did some inspection and saw we have a spacious area and made the comment "I would like to start planting trees tomorrow" so we decided to follow him to the nursery and made our selections. When we sat down to sign the contract and pay, he made the comment that planting is backed up to about five weeks and that's what the soonest is for getting our items planted..... what??? How does that make sense if you were saying you could plant tomorrow like ten minutes ago in my backyard?? I didnt like this, red flag #1 next he had mentioned that an arborist will be included & will come in three times a year to check on the trees welfare. Come to find out that was not 100% the truth, you pay $250 approximately to have the arborist come out three times a year. Red flag # 2 Overall the nursery is beautiful and has lots of selections to choose from. My trees are beautiful john & his team did a great job. The trees were kind of expensive & Caymen gave unsatisfactory service. It seemed like great service at first but as we proceeded it looked like he was a shady business person. If you're trying to find plants or trees, this nursery is a great option, but I wouldn't recommend Caymen to work with. Update: Pat reached out to me to remedy the experience above. He was friendly and wanted to hear about what my experience was like & offered me a few essential items for my trees. Bought cypress trees and paid them for planting and delivery. I had another contractor setup the irrigation system and ready for the contractors who will plant the cypress trees for us (Moon Valley Murrieta). Everything was all set until they plant one of the cypress trees and irrigation emitter was moved by one of the guys from Moon Valley without telling me and found out when the cypress trees was already dying because of dripper not properly pointing to the trees. They gave me fertilizer hoping it would revive but it didn't. They replaced it with the new one but I kept asking for same size and did not give me same size (5' feet) so now the (5) cypress trees doesnt have same heights anymore. Giving them 3 stars since they tried to work it out with me but all this hassles and problem could have been prevented. Especially that I just got my backyard done with new landscaping and concrete. Not a good experience with their contractors and did not really care at all once their scope is done. Professionals should know if they are planting trees and irrigiation system looks off.... This past spring, we purchased a Ruby Red Grapefruit tree from Moon Valley Nursery and we were really happy with the tree. It was healthy and already had a couple of fruits hanging from it when we took delivery of it. We planted it ourselves with the help of an independent landscaper. We have since been getting Moon Juice, Moon Dust and now today we bought Moon Green to help with the iron deficiency (yellowing leaves) of our citrus trees. Justin Robinson was really helpful as we also asked about their kumquat trees. They have a wonderful and quite large selection to choose from. We will definitely come back to purchase one and have them plant it for us as doing it that way also gives us a warranty on the tree.
