This past spring, we purchased a Ruby Red Grapefruit tree from Moon Valley Nursery and we were really happy with the tree. It was healthy and already had a couple of fruits hanging from it when we took delivery of it. We planted it ourselves with the help of an independent landscaper. We have since been getting Moon Juice, Moon Dust and now today we bought Moon Green to help with the iron deficiency (yellowing leaves) of our citrus trees. Justin Robinson was really helpful as we also asked about their kumquat trees. They have a wonderful and quite large selection to choose from. We will definitely come back to purchase one and have them plant it for us as doing it that way also gives us a warranty on the tree. The pricing scheme is ridiculous. Their sales guys very clearly work off commission as they take you straight to the most expensive areas where trees are $1250 at 50% Off! Then act completely differently when you express interest in the smaller, cheaper section of the nursery. I've never seen someone's personality change so fast. Pay your employees, stop with the ridiculous pricing, and stop taking advantage of your customers.. The biggest red flag was all the massive payment plan signs plastered in the front. Having people pay for a single tree for months on end at extremely high prices is shameful. I truly don't understand the positive reviews this chain has. In nearby nurseries that are well respected you can get the same tree for a fraction of the cost and generally looking healthier. And the employees are way friendlier and care about the area and their neighbors. read more

I came by with my family today to grab a few shrubs to fill a big gap in my backyard. We were immediately greeted and assured with finding what we needed. I cannot remember the name of the man that helped us but he had an Australian accent and he was very kind and helpful. The manager was grilling up free burgers and hot dogs for Mother's Day. It was awesome. I was able to knock out an errand and feed my kids lunch. They had all the fixings and sodas/juices and chips, we were definitely taken care of. Bought a small palm tree to replace one that had died. The buying process was fast and easy. We bought it on 2/4/2025 and delivery was scheduled for 2/7/2025. The day before delivery they called and said they were overbooked on 2/7 and I would need to reschedule. We scheduled it for 2/21, and they said they would call the day before to give me a delivery window and call the day of delivery to say they were on their way. They even promised me a container of "moon Juice" for the inconvenience. Well, no phone call the day before, and no phone call the day of. The only call I did get was from the driver saying he was outside. When I went outside, they were parked in front of my neighbors house. They had the wrong address. They did a very nice job in planting the palm tree, it looks great. They were about to leave when I asked about the Moon Juice. They had no idea about it, but reluctantly gave me one. I like shopping there but they need to work on their internal communications. read more

I first called Moon to order an orange tree for my father's birthday. On the phone I was informed a 3-5 year old tree with delivery, planting and warranty would be $399 out the door. I was OK with the price and asked to get a photo of the tree before purchase. I was pleased by the photos shown below and told I would get the tree I picked out over the phone. I was then disappointed to find out that the total cost would actually be $299 for the tree plus $249 for delivery. I figured it was an honest mistake and decided to purchase the tree anyways. I then found out that Moon more or less performed a bait and switch and provided me with a sad looking tree with a fraction of the buds, in a pot full of weeds. Robert offered me a bag of fertilizer for the mistake but given that I am located in Torrance I was not about to drive out to pick it up. The orange tree has been in my dad's possession for only a few days so I can't attest to long term quality. My review is based on lack of integrity in Moon's business practice. Having herd good things about this nursery I called for some ball park quotes for some shade trees. Talking to someone they would not give me any answers I was looking for over the phone and insisted for me to schedule an appointment for the weekend which apparently they only had time for two appointments on Sunday early noon and early evening. I arrived at my appointment early noon on sunday to find the nursery not busy at all. after being driven to the 24 inch box trees that they sell as 36 inch box trees I find delivered and planted will be $3000 and $600 just for the tree. I wish they would not have waisted mine or their time and just would have gave me ball park estimates over the phone, just straight salespeople trying to maximize profit. i drove down the street to another business that was a 180 with great prices for more half the price read more

Our experience with Moon Valley Nurseries was absolutely perfect from beginning to end. Starting with arriving at Moon Valley Nurseries (36705 Briggs Rd, Murrieta) location on a warm mid morning Saturday and being greeted by Patrick O'Neil the nurseries manager. Who listened to what we were looking for and then showed us where it was at. Walking the facility they have many great choices of plants and trees. We decided on the perfect tree for us. We then Went to the office to schedule delivery and pay. Patrick drove us back to it on the golf cart to tag it as ours and then he took us on a tour of the whole facility. It's an amazing place! So many great choices of plants and trees. Closer to the install date we received an email from Jared Dixon thanking us for our business and letting us know what to expect and what was expected of us to do to prepare for install. The email gave us our previously decided install date and a window of time to expect them. On the day of install Antonio Martinez and his team actually showed up 20 minutes early! Which was great. They showed up ready to get to work. They All were very professional and friendly. Our tree was planted just where we wanted it and it looks beautiful. The communication hasn't been good at all after I made my purchase, which included 2 trees and many plants. I am still waiting for a response regarding some of the plants that died shortly after the nursery came and planted everything. Great salesman and lovely plants, but I've never felt more ripped off by a place, ever in my entire life. We originally spent $1200 on this set of 5 photinia plants to make a shrubbery fence, but something occurred between my sprinkler guy setting a new sprinkler line the day before, and the actual planting itself. I found this ripped out pipe part the next day, and it cost me AN EXTRA $200 to fix it then with my sprinkler guy, and ANOTHER $185 yesterday (a year and a half later), to fix it again. I tried speaking to Patrick about the first $200 fix, but he sternly warned me about "pointing fingers" at his guys, and wouldn't refund me; would only give me "store credit if I brought in an itemized bill" from my landscapers, which of course I didn't have, so I let it go...until it cost me even more yesterday. It's like a nightmare that doesn't end. Also, the delivery itself was messed up because they'd originally set up a time that had made me cancel a morning appointment for something I had really wanted to attend...yet the night before, the drivers themselves called to say our delivery would be at the end of the day...i.e.. the very thing I'd wanted all along. Patrick at that time had told me he was "embarrassed about his guys", and fixed it. Well, now *I'm* embarrassed about his guys...that I paid all that money...to now have ongoing headaches over this hedge. NEVER AGAIN!!! read more
