This was unexpected. It was a little late and we were tired and didn't know what we wanted so we were strolling up F Street and came to Moonlight Pizza & Brew Pub. This was our first time to Moonlight. We'll be back for sure. Husband had a Full Moon. He said he was amazing. I ordered my own creation. It was their special red/bbq sauce with meatballs and extra cheese. My son ate some of both. The crust was incredible and thin, just the way we like it. We ordered mediums and have half of each to take home. The staff was great and very friendly. The only down side was my son couldn't get his Diet Coke. read more

Everything is homemade here. We got a spinach salad and a pizza. The salad was fine, pizza was very good. Crust was nice and airy, sort of a combination of neapolitan and new york styles. Ordinary red sauce was good, plus I got a side of BBQ sauce, which definitely tasted homemade and worked great in combination. If I wasn't sharing with someone who wasn't into BBQ on pizza, I'd definitely try a pizza with their BBQ sauce or their BBQ/red sauce mix. People were nice and atmosphere was good. I'd give it 5 stars, but I'm a tough critic when it comes to pizza and there was still some room for improvement. Moonlight is definitely better than the other big pizzeria in town. read more

I wouldn't have know it, but I got on untapped (beer rating site) to rate the amber, which is a 4.5 out of five. Great Beer!!! Ordered the T-Guns Pizza, best Pizza in colorado for sure.. AMAZING! The staff was friendly and welcoming evening tho I walked in five minutes to closing... My wife and I visited moonlight on our beer tour honeymoon over the three years ago and it was just as awesome as the first time... Great job moonlight...! read more

Stopped in for a quick bite in our way to Durango. I am so glad we did. I enjoyed one of their wheat beers and my girlfriend had the cream ale. Both beers were very well made and exceptionally smooth. Having had beers from great breweries in Fort Collins and Boulder, I was overwhelmingly surprised at the quality craftsmanship of the beer. It was too bad we were in a hurry or I would have enjoyed a few others. We enjoyed the Caveman pizza for lunch. Like the beer, we both LOVED the pizza. The sauce and the crust both seemed homemade. We ordered the medium pizza and it was more than enough for us both. We even took a few pieces with us. I found no downside to this place. The atmosphere was fantastic. The day we were there it was about 75 degrees and we sat outside on the patio. The waitstaff was very friendly and very informative of their beers. Their recommendations on the beer and pizza were both spot on. I just wish I lived closer. It for sure would be a favorite of mine. read more

We stopped yesterday to have some pizza here with our dog. The first thing we noticed is that on the patio they had many water dishes set up for the dogs. There was a sail set up over the patio as it faces west to provide shade while you eat...This is a very friendly place and the pizza that we had was as good as it gets in our opinion...We ordered the large Moon Pizza and had to force ourselves to bring some home. This is a great pizza joint. Lots of options and a good environment. They have a big patio for nice days. I got the harvest moon veggie pizza and asked for vegan cheese. It was delicious. My one complaint is they don't indicate anywhere on the website or menu that they have vegan cheese. Surely it would be good for business to indicate that vegans have options here. We climbed Shavano last week and after a slushy 12 hour hike my two friends and I demolished 2 larges. We had Caveman and a Spicy Moon with green chilis and jalapeños. I don't know how they make the crust but it's thin enough but remains crispy all the way across the pie...doesn't get soggy and soft in the middle even with the last piece. I was leery of them Spicy Moon but it was fantastic especially if you like flavorful spice. Amber beer was great and Mexican lager was delicious. read more

The service here, is some of the worst I have had in Salida! Our server was Delany and talk about someone who doesn't care about customers. Could never get refills on drinks without asking the busser and they would say I will let your server know. Than about 10 - 15 minutes would go bye and Delany would finally come over, again not really wanting to be bothered. This happened multiple times. Even pretty rude when she brought the check over. The only reason this place gets even two stars is that pizza was pretty good and so were their house made sodas. Breadsticks were nothing to write home about, pretty plain. I love the small-mountain town vibe and this place screams it! Located in downtown Salida, it's one of a few great places to choose from. We decided that some carry out would be perfect for us and perused a menu that was outside on the window before we walked in. We just wanted to get a sense of what they had. The menu is fairly robust with a great selection of unique specialty pizzas, sandwiches, salads and sides. As we walked in we were blasted with that delicious, pizza place hot air. The girl working the counter was very friendly and upon telling her that we thought we would do carry out; she gave us a few minutes to look at the menu again and answer a couple questions we had. We decided to go for a specialty pizza call the "Cosmic Hawaiian." I'm sure one could guess what the toppings were, but you'd be a little off. This isn't the classic Hawaiian you like so much -- it's much better. This particular Hawaiian is made with their magical red sauce plus a little smoky BBQ, which gives it a nice little tang. The big kicker is that they suggest you try it with jalapenos and cream cheese -- and I too recommend it. I also ordered a small house salad, which wasn't anything special, but it was a good accompaniment to the pizza. I did enjoy the honey mustard dressing which seemed homemade. As we waited for our pizza order we pulled up a couple chairs at one of the small tables and enjoyed a couple local beers. At this point we were able to get a lay of the land so to speak. The building itself is very small with just a few tables to sit at inside, but it has a very nice patio with much more room. I can picture this place hopping in the mid-summer when the town is bustling with tourists. It was pretty quiet when we walked in, but gradually got busier as we waited. We didn't have to wait long before our order was up; meanwhile we were finishing our beers, chatting it up with the nice girl at the counter, and enjoying the vibes. The service was very good with smiles all around. Upon finishing our beers we grabbed a quick peek at the pizza, it looked and smelled amazing. I settled the tab and we raced back to the B&B to devour the pie. If you're in the area and hungry for pizza I highly recommend Moonlight Pizza. You will not be disappointed. read more

I give this place a two. I came to Salida for spring break with the family. We heard good things about this place. We ordered a cream ale and a white IPA. The drinks were fine. Not to much to say there. They did have limeaide and ginger beer on tap, that was neat. They brought a root beer float by which looked tasty. For our meal we ordered one of the pizzas with jalapeños which was fine. Not much cheese. I was also disappointed in their red sauce. Tasted similar to tomato paste. And the cheese to sauce ratio was unfortunately way off. We also ordered one of their specials with BBQ sauce as well as green chilies and onions. It was fine. Nothing too special. The size of the pizzas were good and the crust was pretty tasty but overall I wouldn't return here based on pizza alone. On a side note we ordered spicy chicken wings. What came out were slimy and squishy wings sitting in sauce. Very disappointing. The wings literally had about an inch of squishy fat on the outside. I would say that was the main downfall of the whole dinner experience. read more

A weekend away with friends, and there was a duel between this place and another place for the best pizza ever. Yes, not in Colorado but everywhere. There was no bloodshed, due to mainly the advocate for this place discussing how amazing the BBQ chicken sandwich was. I did not have the BBQ chicken sandwich, but I did have an amazing Caeser salad with a small cheese pizza. It was amazing. This place really pushes their dough, and the dough was great! All my friends raved about the BBQ chicken sandwich, and the duel was over. Well, sort of. The friend that insisted another place had better pizza stated this place did have the best BBQ chicken sandwich ever. So there you go folks, this place is good. My beau and I ordered the T-guns and it was extraordinarily delicious! The flavor of the spices and cream cheese was wonderful. We ordered a medium and had 2 pieces each. Came here on Saturday after running the half marathon. It's a very small dining room, so we had to wait a bit for a table, although they do have outdoor seating options. It also looks like they are constructing an addition to the restaurant out front, though I could be wrong. While we waited for our table, we were able to order some beers from the small bar. They had around 6 beer options, and the three we tried were all delicious and different. The breadsticks were hot and cheesy, and they came with our choice of dipping sauce: pesto or tomato. The pizzas were very good, and my friend also enjoyed the 'moonzone' she ordered. The veggie pizza was a favorite among our group. My wife and I came in from the Springs on a Groupon for the Vino Salida Winery tasting; which was truly awesome. We spent our first night walking around the down town area of Salida and came across the Moonlight Pizza and Brew Pub. We had an amazing time. The food/prices were awesome (great happy hour), ***But the service*** ... it was like a swarm of bees, making sure everything was perfect. No less than 7 servers were involved with every aspect of our dinner. Water pitcher, always filled, no empty beers,... etc. Pizza was great, steak and cheese sub/sandwich was unbelievable. read more

Be prepared to wait for well over an hour. I can't say what the food is like because even after being here for an hour and forty minutes and we don't have our food. Update: I got the pizza, and it was good, so I gave them two stars. I would have given them 3, or even 4, if they had been nice about the fact that we waited for two hours to get our food, but they were 100% unapologetic. I don't get that. Be nice, it doesn't hurt, and it makes people a hell of a lot more forgiving of things like super-long waits. And by the way, of the 2 hour wait, only about 20 minutes was waiting for a table. They took about 1 1/2 hours to get us our food AFTER we ordered. read more

Pretty solid gluten-free pizza. A little bit pricey, but very tasty. The in-house root beer was delicious, so we brought home a growler for the rest of the family-- they love it! Visited three times during our trip and had great service two times. The other waitress seemed like she was put out by any request and was a bit surly. But, two out of three ain't bad, so if you get cruddy service on one visit don't give up on the place! The food is worth it and the root beer is definitely a must try. read more
