We visited in early April at the tail end of a wine-tasting road trip from Sacramento to Carmel Valley and Paso Robles. This add on was one of the highlights of the whole trip. There is indoor and outdoor seating on a cozy patio. After walking the Cambria boardwalk on a windy day we opted to sit at the bar indoor and glad we did as we got to know Michael who is super nice and provided outstanding service and information about the wine makers and the wines. Came here after breakfast and excited to try it. I got a wine taste. Many of the wines offered are out of Paso Robles region which we really connect with. For some reason we didn't really connect with the reds but maybe it was just our palate. We found the best wine by far to be the desert wine. Customer service was good and people were friendly. Plenty of sitting space. The pours were very small for one gentleman who served us but luckily another lady helped us and gave us fair taste. We are still Wine Clubmembers, and this is still one of our favorite wineries. We come here every time we visit Cambria, and enjoy our wine in between visits. This time, we had a lovely complementary tasting as wine members at the bar. We really loved the Cote de Stone, blend, Zinfandel, Petit Syrah and port. They served it with a piece of dark chocolate, which was amazing. Always friendly service. Lots of friendly locals. And on this Saturday, we had the benefit of getting to hear an amazing singer Jill from the Coastal taproom across the street. Moonstone has Live Music on Sundays. We took a drive to the coast and found Moonstone Cellars on Yelp. We had a white flight and a red flight and enjoyed all of the reds and few whites. There were quite a few locals enjoying wine. Wow I couldn't have picked a better wine tasting experience. We were traveling back to Los Angeles from Monterrey and I wanted to stop by and buy a bottle of wine as a souvenir but I didn't necessarily need to have the full blown wine tasting experience. Moonstone was the perfect spot for us. Parking was super easy and my boyfriend and I split the $20 tasting fee to aid us in our decision of which bottle we wanted to purchase. The service was amazing even after our 6 tasting the kind gentleman even offered if we wanted to try any red wines (because we only stuck with the whites). The room is on the smaller side but it makes for a very special and personal experience. We walked away with 2 bottles and will definitely be returning! read more

I realized that I never updated my review for Moonstone Cellars. I clearly liked this place, cause ya girl has been a wine club member since 2011 (you do the math). I just recently upgraded my club from 3 bottles to 6 bottles. I basically got a max discount now. Well worth it! The wine is so yummy, you'll want to join this club. The reds are the best, but they have some tasty whites as well. The Cabernet Sauvignon is my favorite, and that they have Petit Syrah, get it. For whites, the Albarino is nice and dry, def not too sweet. Parking wise, there's a lot across the way as well as street. The restroom is located in the parking lot as well. read more

Can't believe I didn't know this little winery existed. My friend and I had just driven through a rainy storm and couldn't wait to settle in with a glass of wine. What a great experience! We are tasting room veterans, having worked at wineries in Sonoma Co. and we loved our time at Moonstone. Our host Mike Costa was fantastic. He creates an atmosphere that is at once fun, happening and inclusive. In the afternoon the tasting room is seemingly a locals hangout giving it great energy. Some people just come in for a glass, while those of us traveling through town want to taste a sampling of what they have to offer. As great as Mike was, the stars of the show were clearly the wines. These are nicely crafted wines including an impressive array of varietals for a small winery. Suffice it to say; its' got to be good if you walk out with a half a case of wine. It is now a must stop on our quarterly trips down from the north bay to Santa Barbara. We hated to leave. read more

We've been members of the Moonstone wine club since 2011, and we love their wines and our visits to the Tasting Room today just as much as we did in the beginning! Here's why: - Great wines! Todd buys the best grapes he can find and while there are consistently good ol' standbys each year (Cabernet, Merlot, Zinfandel, etc.), he also routinely brings us some new surprises that we didn't expect, e.g., Por da lua, sparking wines, other interesting whites/reds, etc. - Prices are very reasonable, and the discounts associated with the wine club have ensured that a Moonstone wine is part (often multiple times) of our nightly wine lineup each week! - Expect a fun experience at the Tasting Room. We've taken lots of different family members and/or visitors with us to the Tasting Room since the Moonstone team presents lots of information about the origin and characteristics of the wine, and there are many different wines to taste. Andy, in particular, deserves a shout out for making the experience so fun and informative (and for consistently remembering our names)! My wife and I have been coming to Cambria for several years. Somehow we've always done wine tastings in Paso Robles until we decided to hit Moonstone Cellars on our most recent trip. I now regret not coming here earlier! They serve a variety of white and red wines as a tasting. Since wine tasting is subjective, I can't promise you'll love these wines, but if it means anything to you, I liked them enough to become a member of their wine club. But here's what makes this place unique; it's the atmosphere. It's true, you can wine taste many, many places in this region and find that special grape. But I doubt you will find a place as welcoming as Moonstone Cellars. Our wine guide was Andy, and he has a gift of making you feel as if you're a long-lost friend. There is a joy and pleasure he takes in his job. When someone likes where they work, it shows. Overall, the place is cozy, with outside seating in two areas if the weather is nice. I will go back each and every time I visit, and my bet is Andy will remember my name name even if I don't show up in person for months. read more

What a fantastic local find! We were recently suggested Moonstone Cellars by a friend, who we trust with wine knowledge! We arrived in the mid afternoon with our dog, no reservations. It seems they don't have reservations here - but you may want to call with larger parties or if during a popular weekend. We chatted with the wine pourer and decided to split their large tasting menu in half. Finding our way around the corner to their open patio we were pleasantly surprised to find live music. It was a wonderful afternoon listening to live music, enjoying the cool weather and excellent selection of wines. So much so we joined the wine club!
