Our favorite tasting room in Cambria! We loved the wines and the warm host. Dog and kid-friendly. It's worth a return trip from LA.

This was such a great time! Andy the "Pour Decision Maker " greeted us so warmly. Some wineries turn you away if you don't have a reservation however this wonderful place welcomed us with a smile and a "come right in and try our wine today!" Gesture. Andy was friendly funny and very knowledgeable about all the wines. He made excellent suggestions on which wines to try and which paired well with what, etc. We bought a couple glasses of wine, retreated to the patio where a wonderful band, the Dulce Taylor Trio, entertained us and the entire crowd with well played classic rock songs, all the way till the sun set in the beautiful Cambria sky. The wine was amazing, the staff was so warm friendly engaging and very knowledgeable, and the whole place was beautiful! We had Andy as our server today, and he was in a mad rush. Never had a wine tasting go so fast. Andy made it a point to state he was white. I'm not sure why he had to mention that. This was my least favorite wine experience ever. Andy asked when do you want to start tasting?I said we were ready, and he got upset and rephrased his question: Where do you want to start. If you're looking for good wine, friendly and knowledgeable staff or a quiet and quaint place to stay a couple of nights you must consider Moonstone Cellars. My wife and I planned on stopping by for a quick visit, however the wine, the vibe, friendly people we met there, and Andy our pourer were so welcoming that we stayed for hrs. Andy was an excellent host and I witnessed him cater to everyone's needs. He is definitely an asset to the business and created a great wine tasting experience for all. This was my first time to Moonstone Cellars. I was so impressed that I joined their Wine Club. Jill took care of us as I did a tasting. She was great and I would have enjoyed talking more with her but there were a number of other guests that also needed her attention. I am not a wine connoisseur but I do enjoy wine. Each of the tastings were very good. My wife does not drink wine, but asked me after each tasting "How was that one?" Each time I said, very good! Thus joining their club! We had a really great tasting on the outdoor patio after arriving right after Newsom shut down (indoor dining, gyms, salons etc) earlier that morning. How interesting is life getting? Thank gosh for Moonstone Cellars, their delish tasting menu and fabulous staff. It was just the sort of therapy I needed after being triggered once again by this roller coaster of our current times. We were grateful to spend an enjoyable time outdoors. You can select 6 wines to taste. I went 2 whites and all 4 reds. The Sauvignon blanc is the perfect starter. I was so surprised by how much I enjoyed it and nearly purchased a bottle since it's been so warm at home. If you know me, you know I left with the cab. The table red was also really good too. If you're in town I highly recommend spending some time here. We had a lovely visit and will certainly return in the future. read more

My wife, 2 kids, and puppy all went in around 12:30p to honestly just kill some time while we waited for the crowd to die down at Main St Grill, and ended up staying for almost an hour with Danielle! Danielle was very sweet local who knew a lot about the wines that were available. Danielle poured 10 different wines for us, gave my kids some water to drink and my pup some snacks to chew on. My wife and myself ended up buying 4 bottles to take home...2 bottles of the Viognier, the Syrah, and Rosé. All The wines were delicious but those 3 were our favorites. There is a lovely small indoor area with seating for about 12 people and an outdoor area for about 12 more. There can probably be another 12 standing at the bar comfortably. I'd definitely come back here to sample some more of the local wines available. read more

My husband and I had a wonderful time stopping by at Moonstone Cellars for a wine tasting. The wine servers were so welcoming and it seemed like they made a point to provide genuinely kind service. We mostly spoke with Dave and he was so warm and hospitable. The wine flight was absolutely delicious! An additional perk was they had self serve tapas-like snacks for us to enjoy while we were there (we recommend the pickled grapes!). On our next trip back, we will be back! read more

Never had a bad experience with Moonstone Cellars. Their wines are top notch, the tasting room is fun/clean/well-kept, and the staff are always extremely friendly. We never leave Cambria without a bottle of their wine, and usually save it for special occasions. Definitely worth checking out. read more

I don't write reviews on the regular, but I just opened the bottle of table wine we got and it reminded me of the experience my wife and I had while visiting Cambria. We stopped at this fantastic lil place while on a day drive up the coast and to my surprise was not a bougie wine tasting places. Stopped in at Moonstone twice during our weekend in Cambria and ended up signing up for the wine club! It is a very reasonably priced club and the wines are good. They have a lovely outdoor seating area, kid -friendly which was great for us since we had our children with us. They provide water and have cheese/meat plates to keep the kids busy! The server also remembered our names when we came in the second day which was unexpected and nice! Moonstone is worth a stop if you're in Cambria! read more

One of the reasons to come to Cambria is the nearby wine country (in addition to the great coastal vibe of the town itself). It is not, however, necessary to drive 30-40 minutes to taste very good wine in a cozy setting, as we found out by venturing into Moonstone Cellars just off Main Street in Cambria town. We were there around lunchtime, so it was not at all crowded. Andy was behind the counter and made us feel welcome right away. We each had a glass of the Merlot - a nice compromise given what my wife and I like in the way of red wines - and enjoyed our wine in the courtyard area behind the tasting room. All I can say is service was excellent. The wines not so much. Do not get the five stars. Apparently these reviewers have never tasted really great wines. The whites that were described as dry were sweet. The Grenache and the Tempranillo were the only reds we tasted and those were not as good as what I could purchase at Trader Joe's for so much less. As I open up my latest shipment from Moonstone, I think I can safely say that I am completely and totally enamored with this winery. The funny thing is that I'm still not sure exactly why. Is it because: - their very warm and inviting tasting room is so casual and friendly that it's more like drinking at a friend's home than a tasting room? - I saw two locals ride up on their horses, dismount then walk in for a tasting? True story. I just hope they didn't get a HRUI (Horse Riding Under the Influence) thereafter. - or perhaps, just perhaps, their wines are simply delicious? Whatever the reason maybe I'm sold. The tempranillo was what really got my attention: big warm red with a floral berry nose and rich, dark color. My wife was really digging the Sauvignon Blanc: it has just a whiff of tropical fruit and ends with a cool, clean finish. Moreover, it is because of this winery that my eyes have been opened up to the wonderful possibilities Paso Robles wineries have to offer. And there are a ton (seriously, it's like over 200 out there). read more

Wine tasting is by appointment only - but well worth it. They have a nice outdoor patio with fire pits by each table to take the chill out of the cool coastal air. Very pleasant, even in shorts! The wine is "very good", with a wide variety of tastes, and soft jazz playing in the background. Andy, our "Pour Decision Maker", was very helpful and so very nice, he made it fun! It's the top rated tasting company in the area and we see no reason to disagree. Oh, and the tasting is only $12 for six wines. That's a great deal!! read more

My wife and I just moved up to Cambria, and Moonstone is one of the reasons for our move. Really, no hyperbole, or maybe just a little. Great, distinctive wines, friendly staff, especially Andy who knows his wines and other local info. And as great as Andy is, the other team members are warm, funny, interesting and knowledgeable too. Over the years (25ish?), I've noticed that Moonstone maintains high standards and high quality whether you enjoy Chardonnay or Zinfandel, Sparkling Rosè Flamingeaux or a Port, and all the wines are reasonably priced. So esctatic we found Moonstone Cellars. The Owners Todd & Kendra were amazing to us, such down to earth people and they made sure we had everything we needed. . Susanna, their event planner and much more, helped us through the whole thing, Prior to the big day she was available, whenever I had a question and set me up with Vendor suggestions as we are from out of town. The weekend of, she was indispensable. She was on site for all set up the day prior and was there through the entire event, bartending and assisting where needed. As for the venue. It was perfect for our 50 guests. It came out so beautiful. The location was convenient to both downtown Cambria & Moonstone Beach. Our Guest adored the place. There is even space for live music and a large TV if you want to stream anything. Their Wine...Absolutely delicious. Many compliments on it all. Was great having our reception at a wine tasting bar. As part of the agreement you have to serve their wine if having a function there. We were not at all disappointed in its quality. Lastly, Moonstone Cellars has a gorgous apt/suite upstairs that was perfect. Newly built and pristine with a large open living space, kitchen and roomy master bedroom.
