We had a spontaneous weekend trip with family and my dog to Cambria. We picked this hotel because it was one of the best priced for the location and we loved the country theme! Had a room with a king bed and fireplace. It was so cute and cozy. I will say all of these places down here are Basically boutique motels so some of the things, like the shower drain and door, and window sills could be newer, but everything was clean and cute! The theming is even better in person and the grounds are soo nice. We walked around the other hotels in the area and this one is by far the best in terms of the grounds! If you have a dog, this is the place!!! We can't wait to come back! The Cow Tipper was good for breakfast too, dog friendly once again! We loved the trails right across the street! In terms of being close to the water and cliffs you really can't beat the location on this! Just a couple smalls things to note: The fireplaces outside don't get too hot outside so pack blankets if you plan to hang out! Still fun and cozy! Cambria is way colder than you think it will be!! The bed in our room didn't have a red comforter on it, and my parents room did, I thought it was because we had a dog as a guest but after leaving I see pictures of comforters and dogs in the rooms so I'm not really sure why we didn't get one? When we got there, there was blood stains on the white sheets (just looked stained not fresh blood/dirty) and the girl on the phone was really weird about getting us new sheets and kept saying it's rust not blood but she never even came up to see it...either way housekeeping staff came by a couple minutes later and were very helpful and apologetic unlike her! The morning staff, a young man was very helpful! Someone keeps smoking weed by the fires and he handled it was such haste! It was refreshing! Thank you everyone! We will be back! read more

We've been going to OPRanch multiple times a year for many years. We were married there years back and enjoy the nostalgia. However, things have been going downhill drastically the past few years. We believe it's the turn of staffing. There appears to be a lack of pride and "maturity" in customer service & standards. We just returned from our second trip of the year last night. This review reflects this trip, but the previous one was as bad. The rodeo suite (the bridal suite that costs a good amount of money) has multiple issues. The bathroom sink is clogged and doesn't drain. The shower door doesn't close. The bathroom door isn't secure. The workers for the hotel grounds were behind us BY THE WINDOW while we showered. BLOOD and holes on the sheets. The kitchen was filthy - the stovetop, top of refrigerator, interior and exterior of cabinets are covered with grime. Curtains in the kitchen and living area are torn and broken. No wine glasses provided in the suite and the staff wouldn't provide any, yet the restaurant has them. (Seems odd in a bridal suite) This suite and other rooms we've stayed in have ants. Mikey & Angel are extremely rude and dismissive - not only our experience, but other patrons that gathered & compared stories. Last visit we received a refund for issues, but this visit we didn't bother discussing these concerns, as the staff was so rude to patrons it seemed they wouldn't care about standards. (Mikey needs to be taught to turn and look at customers when they are checking in, rather than dismiss them as though they are not worth his time) The one moment worth a high-five was provided by Bree. Thank you Bree for dragging a bench to our suite so our dog could access the high bed! :) We hope that corporate considers our honest review and those by others to improve the hotel. For the price we are willing to pay we have expectations of a more elevated experience as we have had in years past. We booked what was supposed to be one of the best rooms at this hotel. A private corner cottage style room with a fireplace and bathtub, specifically for a quiet, relaxing getaway. We had stayed here before and were really looking forward to the same peaceful experience. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case this time. When we arrived, there was a wedding set up about 20 feet from our room. The music was extremely loud, and we were told it would continue until 10pm. The huge easy up stayed all weekend. It blocked our entire view of anything from our hotel window. That sucked, especially considering we chose this room for its privacy and quiet. We brought this up to the front desk, and while the staff member was polite(ish), he only offered a 7% discount, which felt pretty dismissive given the situation.  It's really disappointing because we know this hotel can offer a great experience, we've stayed before. But this time, it felt like they didn't care about the guests because the wedding was going to bring in more money. If you're considering staying here for a quiet getaway, I'd strongly recommend confirming there are no events happening near your room. We suggest staying at White Water or El Colibri instead! read more

This place is a joke. We had 3 rooms booked here to celebrate the life of a loved one who recently passed away. Our stay was ruined by the dismissive attitude of the entire staff. My sister was charged double and now has to dispute the charges with her bank because the manager, Angel can't return a phone call or an email. EXTREMELY unprofessional! Also, rooms were dirty. I was told housekeeping only happens if you book for 3 nights...that's not ok. Had to ask multiple times for towels, extra blankets. My room was supposed to have a table and two chairs. I requested and was told they could not accommodate this, because they were unavailable. The room was so dark and depressing. They need brighter lamps. The game room was not a game room. There was no sand in the game there that required sand to play. This was also requested and no sand for us. Needless to say, we won't be giving almost $500 a night for this place AGAIN. I would not recommend Ocean Point Ranch to my worst enemy. ZERO STARS! read more

They have some nice space in the front for family activities: lawn games, s'mores pits, etc. Gives you an overall feel of being on a ranch (decor, ambiance, etc.). Cons/negatives: they have an ant problem in their rooms....ant traps in the room, woke up to ants on a couple pieces of furniture...Just not a good feeling as far as cleanliness. Would probably not stay here again and would venture down the street a bit to the other inns and hotels along Moonstone drive. read more

The location is amazing. Me and my partner stayed here for valentines weekend after visiting the Hearst castle. The view and ambiance is nice. The outdoor area is super cute, especially if you have kids. It does get packed so if you want a fireplace outside you may have to wait, we got one around 9pm. We got a double queen bed because we booked a bit last minute and it was the only one available. The room was spacious but it was really cold. The front desk did help us turn the heater on but it was a bit complicated & hidden since it's a bit older. It took about an hour to heat up the room. The morning of check out, from 9am we kept getting door knocks from housekeeping and check out was at 11am. We had about 4 different random knocks that woke us up a couple times. Outside that, it was a good experience. read more

Came here to celebrate a special day. BRIANNA at the front desk ruined it. We had booked a double queen room for $250/night. She gave us a small crusty old room. We checked online and saw the room we had originally booked was the same price as a fireplace room. We asked to get the fireplace room instead and she asked us to pay extra for the "upgrade"! We showed her the website that they're the same price but she kept insisting that we had to pay extra for the same tier room. We decided we didn't wanna stay there anymore as she already ruined the vibe. Asked her to cancel the reservation but she said she won't do that either. We ended up leaving and this will be credit card dispute. I haven't seen idiocy to this extend in quite some time. We come to Cambria often. While my last Posts were 98% negative I have to update my review from a 0 to a 3. As of last week, the owners of The Oceanpoint Ranch (Pacifica Hotels) finally made things right. As I got NOWHERE with Angel or Dominique, Gatlynn Hicks refunded all the monies that were charged to my guests under our room Block contract. For future visitors, if I were you I'd go directly through Pacifica Hotels. Don't deal with the Sales Staff directly. Hopefully they learned a lesson that you can't give horrible customer service when your job is in Hospitality. read more

The location and proximity to Moonstone Beach as well as Cambria are excellent, but the walls are PAPER thin. We could hear all conversations word for word as well as any music or other noise made from both neighbors as well as the parking lot at all hours of the day and night. The rooms also had barely any lighting if it were not daytime with curtains wide open. Staff was friendly and helpful, but the location and scenery were not worth paying to stay at a place where it was impossible to sleep due to noise. read more

the room was a little outdated and pricey but ok. The staff was totally incompetent. we reserved the room in April for our stay in July. they charged our card and took $352.00. When we arrived we upgraded our room. on checkout they overcharged us with a second pet fee charge. When we advised the they overcharged us, they sent all of our money back from April and then tried to rerun our card again. They tried charging us for $435 total which was $100 over what we owed. They ran the card 12 times in one day causing our account to be frozen and locked us out of our money. When we called the again we got someone named "Angel" who claimed he was the manager and was indignant during the phone conversation. We then got an email from "Eduardo" who claimed he was the manager who also tried running our card again. We had to get a new card from our bank. DO NOT trust this incompetent staff! read more

Beautiful ground, great location, comfortable bed, with friendly service! Super glad I was able to book an "ocean view" room here when they were running a Black Friday promotion! It was much cheaper than their normal rate. Let's get the bad out first! I was a bit disappointed that there wasn't much of an ocean view, more like "tree view" since there was a good distance between our room and the beach, with the road and tree line in between. Also, the only way for you to see the "ocean view" is from your back patio, which is fenced off. Don't waste your money on an ocean view here, check out the sister properties up the road which are closer to the beach with better view. Now, the goods! We ended up arriving much later than we planned on. Regardless, the front desk lady was more than happy and welcoming to check us in. Upon entering our room, we saw the complimentary firewood (1 small bag). Thinking it wouldn't last us long, so I urged my husband to go back to the front desk and inquire more. Upon his return, he got 3 more bags with him! According to the lady at the front desk, 1 bag should last us about 20mins, hence, he got 3 more! lol We should have known it was a sale tactic, since each bag lasted over an hour and we ended up taking 1 bag home to save for next time lol For us 2 adults, the room was perfect. However, if we brought our toddler with us, it wouldn't have gone too well. The only main source of heat in the room was a small radiator directly next to the bed. The bathroom was still freezing the whole time we were there. Also, their shower was super tiny. We both fit in it, but with almost no extra space left. Overall, this location is perfect if you want nice, decent size room, and some peace and quiet. However, if you're looking for a better view and amenities, I would check out their other hotels. read more

We go here every year as part of our Big Sur camping trip. The property is very kid friendly. There is a game room, a pool, and multiple outdoor fire pits (for making Smore's or just to have a glass of wine and enjoy conversation). The rooms are a little outdated but nice. And it is also pet friendly (for a $75 nonrefundable pet fee) since we often bring our Goldendoodle with us. read more

We stayed at the Ocean Point Ranch Hotel for four nights during July 2026. Overall, it was a very-poor experience. That said, there is one highlight and that is the Cow Tipper restaurant (open only for breakfast), their food is great. As for the rest of the hotel, it has severe management and physical problems. Whenever you needed something, it seemed like no one cared. For example, when I needed extra towels, the best way to get them was to commandeer them from a maid's cart. In addition, except for the front office staff, the rest of the staff seemed unable to speak English. We inadvertently left medications in a drawer in a nightstand. It took 16 days to get the medications returned via USPS even though we requested FedEx overnight for which we would have paid for. So, where is the customer service in that? The process of getting this done was mind blowing. No one on staff seemed to know what to do and deferred us to the manager, who for about 10 days would not return a call. It should have been a simple and immediate matter. They obviously cannot manage that. Also, the rooms are too small and the layouts are not modern. For example, their idea of a closet is to hang a metal pipe over the area next to the sink and calling it good. Based on the above, we give the Cow Tipper restaurant a five and the hotel a zero. To be generous, we give the hotel overall a one. With that in mind, my wife has advised me that we will never return to the Ocean Point Ranch Hotel! read more

Lovely location, but I was not able to sleep at all during my one-night stay. My room had a shared door to another room, and I could hear very loud snoring and conversations throughout the entire night. The walls are extremely thin -- you can hear everything from neighboring rooms. I reported the issue to the front desk during the night and was told they were "sold out" and could not move me. The only solution offered was a fan to drown out the noise. When I went to request it, I was then told they didn't actually have one available. I explained that I booked this stay specifically to get a good night's rest after traveling, and asked about a refund. I was told to follow up with the manager. After doing so, I was only offered a $50 credit toward a future stay. When speaking with the front desk, I was told the walls are very thin and that the bed in the adjacent room is positioned directly next to the shared door -- so this does not appear to be an isolated issue. Unfortunately, the basic expectation of a hotel stay -- being able to sleep -- was not met. I would not stay here again. read more

This was first time staying here since it's been renovated. First of all the grounds are pretty and there's many areas to enjoy a fire and listen to the sound of beach waves. Ocean point is the last hotel at the north end of Moonstone drive. It is definitely quieter and has a boardwalk across the street for a nice stroll. The room was nice and clean but a tad disappointed in the bedding. There's a duvet cover that is upholstery fabric and not a nice clean cotton. It made for a heavy blanket and there were no other options. The price is fair for the location and the amenities. read more

Good location. The room was either hot or freezing- no middle ground due to the 1950's louvered windows in the bath that keep the room at a balmy 60 degrees. The heater works, but it is also vintage and has only an off/on switch. The front desk clerk was amazing and he was the best part of the stay. Maybe the off season is for upgrades and that window needs one. I covered it up with a towel and at least we could take a shower. Pool looked good but we didn't swim. I liked the fireplace. First of all we loved Brianna on the phone when we booked our stay. She was so kind, patient & helpful. When we arrived we were pleasantly surprised at how neat this hotel was. We felt like we had our own private bungalow. The room was cute & comfortable with windows we could actually open for ocean fresh air. Even our bathroom had a window which was awesome. They provided just the right amount of firewood for our fireplace each night. They made it real easy to light. Starbucks coffee in the room was delightful. We were able to walk to the ocean from our room in about 3 minutes. There were many fire pots surrounded with chairs that people gathered at each evening. The office sold kits to make smores. The grounds had pretty strings of lights that made each evening so warm & inviting. Our stay was perfect & we got to meet Brianna in person. She was lovely. Thank you Oceanpoint Ranch. Our family has stayed here two years in a row, occupying 3 rooms per visit. We mainly come here for the beach access and grounds. Not sure we'll return, because simple improvements to ensure comfort have yet to be made. The rodeo suite (the only room with full kitchen) is stocked with scratched up non-stick pans and sheet pans that don't fit the oven. We had to buy our own kitchen utensils in town last year (which are still there, you're welcome). Only one dish towel is provided, and there's no foil or basic pantry items (oil, salt and pepper). The cleanliness is acceptable, grounds are wonderful...if you plan on cooking, I do not recommend staying in the rodeo suite. If you don't plan to cook, the double queens are fine. Their patios are quite unkempt, but just enough for our dogs to relieve themselves. Bathroom lacks soap dish and enough hooks for hanging things. Price point here is about $100 higher than they deserve. read more

I love it here. The grounds are massive and pretty. It's very family friendly. Fire pits in a gated area with random outdoor games. Kids have a blast making s'mores while parents sit back and watch. The ocean is across the street along with a short walk to the boardwalk. The restaurant there is convenient for breakfast but they are quickly overwhelmed. The pancakes were big enough to share. Interested in a wedding here? We were soo excited about this venue for our wedding, until we were completely ghosted. After months of planning and a site visit, the new rep promised a contract "in a day or two." Two weeks, three emails, and two phone calls later? Nothing. The room was cold with a little wall heater and no controls. No table for eating or games. No closet or place to hang clothes except for a bar against the wall. Poor lighting for reading. We cancelled our third night due to heavy rain. Rather than a refund, the increased the bill with the excuse that we had a special 3 night rate. My family and I booked a 4 nights stay. We love it! It is situated walking distance from Moonstone beach and the boardwalk which is pet friendly. Ample parking space. The staff are wonderful and keeps the hotel clean and spectacular. They are very courteous. The have fire pit, couple lawn games, provides smores for kids for $5 complete set. If you want a quiet retreat - this is the place. Take note there is poor to no Tmobile service in this area. Cowtipper restaurant is next door. I ordered latte and oatmeal - which was good. The room was super clean! The front desk personnel was very helpful that checked me and my family in and were able to accommodate us to have our room together. Overall - 10/10 rating. My wife and I spent 3 nights and while nothing is perfect, we had a fantastic vacation. I don't understand the negative comments about the staff. They were wonderful. Kindness results in kindness. The bed and shower were great. Location great. We chose the Deluxe king partial ocean view and we're greeted with a nest of baby birds above our front door light. It only added to the magic. We enjoyed beautiful sunsets across the street. I have been traveling for business for 40 years so trust me when I say anything negative isn't worth mentioning. read more

Oceanpoint Ranch is what makes the central coast of California, the go-to spot for a quiet getaway right on the water. Yet this smaller resort has it all, an amazing restaurant on site (try the breakfast burrito!) a 2 minute walk to the water, and a sunset that will take your breathe away. The rooms are what you would would expect, a little smaller but still provides everything you need for cozy stay that makes you feel comfortable, safe and taken care of. There are a few other resorts on Moonstone Beach, but this takes the crown. It's the farthest north to get a little further away from everything else, so you will be assured max relaxation and the most serene environment you can imagine. A couple little tips if you have the time, book a Hearst Castle tour. PLEASE. Literally pick any of the tours they offer and prepare to be amazed at the only castle in the state of California. A few more minutes north will take you to Piedras Blancas Lighthouse (RSVP prior!) Now you can't take the stairs up in the lighthouse, but you will be mesmerized by the views in and around the light station. read more

Did not receive a call back so we stopped in to check and was told the room was not ready. While early check in is nice but not expected, it would be good to provide clear communication with guests. Poor customer service There were no wine glasses in the room so I asked at front desk. I was told they provided plastic cups in the room. I was offered one of their tumblers with OPR logo for purchase which I declined. I know, this is a first-world problem but this is wine country and at these rates this has been the norm. For us, this was a special ocassion and we had a nice bottle so I went into to town to buy my own wine glasses. There was a cold draft in the bathroom from the window with glass blinds that did not close properly. We had to cover the window with towels to keep cold air from coming in. The small heater took hours to heat the room. I called about the cold draft and possible heating options. I was told they would look into it and get back to me. Nobody came to check the room and we never received a call. This next part happened the following day and is odd yet comical. We were woken up by a series of email messages, the first of which started at 6:30 AM asking if we were ready to check out. The messages continued and I thought about what a mediocre experience this was turning out to be. This was an added insult to injury because once the money had been collected, they were done with us.....at 6:30 AM. The service from the staff was not awful but dismissive and there was a clear lack of attention to detail. This is a place with a bed for the night so if that's what you're looking for, this is your spot. I enjoy staying in places where I am appreciated and cared for. I like knowing that I receive good value for my money so at $430/night this is unacceptable. Cambria is a lovely town with a beautiful heart but this place has no soul. There are so many OTHER great places to stay in Cambria. read more

Absolutely horrid. This place is nothing short of a nasty dingy cheap motel. Had stayed here many years back and it was quite pleasant: let me tell you, a lot has changed over the years. No upkeep , no maintenance. Last time our room was a little more private, this time it faced the nasty pool area. Could NOT get out of there faster. And the absolute worst part of it all was the rude manager named ANGEL. Never experienced terrible customer service like his. He should NOT be a manager. There are so many lovely places to stay right next to this dump, save your money and vacation days and nerves and sanity- stay elsewhere. This place shouldn't even be aligned with the rest of the nicer places along the beach. Absolute mess!!! read more

Unable to reach the manager for 4 days I made an error in my booking .. to rectify the situation I had to get my credit card company to try to resolve the issue after another few days of not being able to contact them after about the 5th day they were unable to resolve the issue after the credit card company submitted my recent medical paperwork to justify my error in dates I just needed to switch dates they refused and denied my numerous attempts to change dates.. my credit card company worked hard to help me due to an honest mistake on my part and said don't book with them it's horrible how they won't help u out!! ( capital one was awesome) I was out my money once I got over that I stayed at fog catcher inn and had an amazing experience!! We showed up at 3:30pm hoping to be able to check in a few minutes early. We had an event to get to. The room was not ready an hour later so we were forced to wear what we had on. Got back at about 9:30pm to finally check in. I reserved and paid for a Lone Star Cabin several months ago. I upgraded last week to an Ocean Front Lone Star Cabin with a claw foot tub and fireplace. We got the room keys and soon discovered we were put into a regular room....no view, no fireplace, no tub, etc.... I went back to the front desk and was told they were sold out. Apparently, our room was given to someone else. We were offered a comped breakfast which was inedible.... We waited 45 minutes for a burned English muffin, home fries that were burnt, sausage that was cold, lox that were slimy and clearly past their prime and powdered eggs. We walked out. Walked back to the front desk and were told by the front desk clerk he would need to speak to the manager about a refund. I was offered $100 refund for the room mixup. Problem is the difference between the room I booked and the room I got was much more than $100. We've still not heard from "the general manager." read more
