I think the products are great, but I did have a bit of an awkward experience with one of the sales ladies. The store was empty and she was being overly attentive, meaning that she followed me around the store closely, would block my movements, and would not stop watching me. It felt extremely uncomfortable, so I just grabbed what I came for and left as quickly as possible. I would not recommend this place for shopping... Not a friendly environment. read more

I wanted to get my sewing machine a tune-up. Quote $200-400. The lady told me to buy a new one if I thought their prices were too high. No idea on earth who is using their service. I think they send them out to someone who does repairs and they probably pay the true repair guy $16/hour. wow why go there when you can just get a brand new vacuum or sewing machine? Love...love..loved this place. All the women working here were top notch, Fatimah especially. Great service and never once did I feel pressure to make a purchase. They have a HUGE selection to fit all budgets and even offer classes (check w/associates due to C-19). You can demo the machines in store and sew on all types of fabrics to help you feel comfortable with your machine of choice. Great to have found this jewel. Wow what a super looking store with lots and lots of beautiful sewing machines and specialities. On another note I took my Singer in for repair the nice individual looked at it and indicated it would have to be sent to Singer , which would cost $200. He was very nice about it and I'm sure he knows what he's doing but I ended up spending $75 at a competitors place (it wasn't a very tough fix after all) Sometimes you win , sometimes you lose...and I feel like I won in this case!! The main sales guy, Adolfo, tried to scam us with a HEAVILY used embroidery machine. He said it was basically new. Well, I started the machine and looked at the stitch count under the settings at us was over 1 million!!!! Completely tried to deceive us by getting us to trade in our machine for one with much more usage on it. This all started because we took our SE1900 Embroidery machine in there for a diagnosis. They looked at it and said that it was definitely in need of repair/service. I was told it would take weeks to be repaired because it needed to be sent out and would cost upwards of $200!! I looked it up and fixed the issue... the bobbin tension just needed adjustment. Like come on! Moores totally tried to scam us with that one. I really think this place would prey on the elderly and uniformed. If I didn't know to check the stitch count of a machine or how to diagnose my own machine problems Moores would have made a pretty penny off me. TERRIBLE. Do not support these criminals. read more

The Brea Location Sales Guy was terrible. He did not seem interested. He looked like he rolled out of bed. I had money in pocket to buy a quilting long arm but decided on another Outfit to purchase my Quilting Machine. Only the Mission Viejo sales people were knowledgeable. I could ask questions and get answers. THEY Allowed me try out machines and were very helpful but it is a long drive for me to get that support. I purchase a sewing machine with a repair/service contract in 2019. However, when I had to move out of state, they refused to refund the unused portion of the service contract. I would NEVER recommend anyone to this store or to this company to purchase ANYTHING !! sewing machine, vacuum etc. It's a shame that Moore's DOES NOT stand by the contract terms or have BETTER customer service, after the years of me attending classes and purchasing many items in the store. I called to see if they took refunds on their fabric since I ended up not touching the fabric I bought from them at all. The lady on the phone said no, which was totally fine. But then she decided to make the comment, "In fact, I don't think anyone ever does fabric returns." And laughs. For one, I buy fabric from everywhere. Online stores, Joann's, Hobby Lobby, etc and this is literally the first store ever to refuse a return/refund. I understand this is a small mom & pop shop but don't belittle your customers. I'm a little late doing this review, I'm a bit embarrassed that I has finagled by Moore's, but others should be aware, where I wasn't. I had a vintage Pfaff that I was having some issues getting the tension setting right. They said that they could fix it. I paid $200 and had them service it. When it was done, I took the machine home, and put it back in its desk. Yet, when I went to use it, it was having the same issues. I took it back to Moore's and they said that they couldn't fix it. Wait, didn't I just pay them to fix it?! Yet, they said that they could give me a discount on a new machine with the Pfaff as a trade-in. I didn't really know what to do and out of haste and frustration, I went that direction. However, their "deals" with a trade-in are the same as everywhere else without a trade-in, I later discovered. I basically paid them $200 to take my lovely vintage Pfaff machine and then paid full price for a brand new machine that I actually think was a return and never worked right either. It was basically a fiasco at Moore's. They have some kind of major scam going on with selling machines. I had better luck picking up a $100 machine at Joann's, seriously. read more

First of all, Linda was very attentive, welcoming, and helpful. Moore's selection of high-end sewing/embroidery machines was impressive--Linda and the store itself deserve 5 stars. However, despite that, I am still left with a bad taste in my mouth after 2 interactions with the same employee. I visited the store twice--once with my son to preview and purchase a new machine, and once to pick up my new machine. Both times, I interacted with a lady with short white hair. She seemed to be a little suspicious of our presence and not very welcoming--like she thought I didn't belong there, or was in the wrong place--when I entered the store on my first visit--at which point Linda took over, as I had spoken with her on the phone. The second time, she approached me as I was in the parking lot outside the store and making space in my car for my new machine. I had not even entered the store!--and asked (to paraphrase) why I was there. Again, I got the feeling that she did not think I belonged there, or was suspicious of my presence. I don't know if it was my brown skin, or if this is the way she interacts with everyone, but I certainly got the impression that she felt I was not supposed to be there and did not have any business being there. After having just spent $$$ on a new machine, this is not the way to make a customer feel. read more

I took my older Pfaff sewing machine in because there was a thread caught which froze the machine. After two people tried and told me it would have to be sent in for servicing (I.e. $200), Amy tried one more time and fixed it! I bought two Babylock machines from this shop. After a couple of uses, the auto threader wasn't working so I had to bring it in and get it fixed. Today, something was going on with the memory with the other machine, and I called and explained what was happening. She told me I would have to bring it in, which is fine. But after saying that we bought two of the same machines here and since the first time was because of the auto threader. She said it was out of courtesy for them to fix that issue because it is a "user error"... I bought it brand new and it stopped working after a couple of uses... The other machine's auto threader is working perfectly. I have two other machines from a different shop and never had any issues with them. Not the best customer service experience, especially if these machines are still fairly new and we have run into problems with them already. She made it seem like we broke the machines because we don't know how to use them. read more

I recently purchased a Janome M7 and hard time learning how to use it as it was a very big step up from my previous machine. Robyn, the store manager, spent an hour and a half with me walking me through the machine and showing me how to use all the functions that are important to me. And, she showed me how to do some things I didn't know I would want to learn how to do. She is very knowledgeable, informative and a great teacher. I bring my sewing machine here for its yearly spa treatment and the occasional sewing question. I am always impressed by the professionalism and level of knowledge of those that work here. Always friendly and pleasant to work with. They have a large selection of machines to browse and enough fabric to get started on one or two projects. Came in on Friday to get my auto threader fixed. Part was $12.99 (bought an extra one as well since I hear that they go out a lot) and paid $20.00 to have the guy put it on. Bill was very pleasant and even met me there (he is in Rancho Santa Margarita) to replace the part. Still, the repair guy was very nice. Came back in today because my spool pin (which is plastic) broke off in the middle about 1am last night....I bought the part online but can't figure out how to get the spool pin on the danged machine. I took off the back screws and then put them back in because I couldn't figure out how to get the back off and now the upper tension is all messed up......I am very frustrated at this point! I think this place is great for parts/notions and some of the trainers and Greg and Brandon are very nice to work with, I just don't want to take my machine in every time this thing decides to not work.....boy they sure don't make these machines like they used to. read more

In summary, don't go to Moore's, especially if you are new to these high end machines. Long version: My wife bought a very expensive sewing/enbroidery machine from Moore's several years ago. They sold her a "floor model" claiming low usage. She was new to these high end machines and didn't know, nor was told about "stitch counts". It's like miles on a used car. Anyway, she wants to sell the machine and get something new. She has since learned she needs to show the stitch count. She took it to a service center to get the count from the machine (apparently you can't do it yourself). The count was huge, far far more than anything she did. This is based on multiple service reports while she owned the machine that showed the count. She never knew to look at the count. So it turns out, Moore's dumped a machine on her that already had tons of stitches on it. Very unethical of these people. They never even told her about the importance of stitch counts. read more

I signed up for classes with Gayle Deidrick/diddle? Something Deidrick. She was nice and helpful at first, and then when the class time came, she pretty much kept her help short with me [my machine was a few years older and apparently there have been alot of machines that came out since then). I had a little more experience with sewing than those who were there as I've sewn really basic things such a pillow cases and pillows. The others were first timers. She pretty much paid attention to the others with new machines, WHICH WAS UNDERSTANDABLE; but I asked her questions regarding the step she just told us to do, and she said a few words and walked away [I did not 'bother' her or 'annoy' her as much as the others, but when I was really lost, I wanted to ask a question]. She also spent alot of time with a few people that had the same EXACT issue, and when l asked about it she pretty much said, "Yeah, old machines will give you alot of problems; just buy a new machine." A new machine? I'm all for that, but those suckers are pricey, and I'm really just making simple things for now. My MIL bought that machine for me, and I haven't really put alot of miles on it. ----After the class, I stayed to ask about the needles I might need for different things, but she kept helping others, even she said I was next. Just bought a sewing machine at this store. The staff didn't know the product well enough to even thread it correctly. They didn't know their inventory of accessories or which ones came with the machine. It took 1/2 hour for them to write up the order while they kept getting distracted. And even though I called ahead to confirm they had the model I wanted in stock, they only had the floor model, which was broken. They had to order one for me. They get one star because they took only two days to get the machine. The transaction took 2 hours even though I knew what I wanted when I walked in the door. Although the staff were friendly, they were not knowledgeable and were constantly distracted. I went there on a friend's recommendation. I won't be going again. I may as well have ordered it online. read more
