Don't go here. The owner lies and doesn't let you do exchanges for clothing items unless you buy something else. The clothes are over priced and of middling quality. I don't understand why some people have the worst, most scammy personality and minds. If you want traditional Vietnamese clothing, nowadays you can just buy it from reputable stores online. Also the area this store is located in is not safe, especially for women and kids. There are a lot of homeless people around who wander in the store sometimes or fall asleep in front of the doorway after they pass out from doing drugs. Negative Stars!!! Awful service. My family and I needed a few ao dai for a dam hoi celebration so we came here. But we had an awful time with the owner. She did our measurements incorrectly and we had to get the pants and shirt remade AND SHE DID NOT COMPENSATE US FOR HER MISTAKE. We had to pay to have it redone. She kept on telling us she made the ao dai "standard size". How is a custom made ao dai "standard size"?!? It should be made to fit the person. Additionally when we came to pick them up, she told us we did not pay yet! When I had a receipt stating that we had paid in full!! She also lost a pair of pants that we gave her to fix the size that she got wrong. She lost it and did not give us our money back because we already pre paid. Terrible con artist. She scammed us! Not only was the owner overly pushy on selling me an ao dai when I only came for pants, the "custom" sewn pants did not fit me at all and I had to go back to get it fixed. She ended up switching the pants with one off the shelf and claimed it was a custom for a famous singer so I had to pay extra for the exchange. Being rude is one thing, but promising to deliver products, insulting us, and stealing our money is another. Don't bother coming here if you need something ordered for a specific event or in a specific size. There is a variety of ao dais in store so if she has it, grab it and get out. We needed ao dais for a funeral. 2 weeks before the wedding we came and placed an order for what we wanted (certain material and certain collar) Came to pick it up in the time she specified and said we owed more than that was agreed day of, said we didn't pay our $40 deposit. We did. After some arguing she finally found the paper that said we had already paid our deposit. 9 days before the funeral we placed an order for 3 more ao dais. She tried to upsell us or sell us sizes that didn't fit us and got upset when we and she again made us pay a $20 deposit and guaranteed us it would come in time. We finally agreed on the right size and she said to come back in 7 days. After the 7 days we came back, she gave us 1 ao dai that was 3x bigger than what we ordered, the material was different ( cheaper, worse quality) and the other 2 ao dais were also different sizes that what we had originally agreed. When we pointed out that she ordered us the wrong items, she said "I bet you just shopped around at other places and found what you were looking for and now you're just here to get your security deposit back" Bottom line is we are there as paying customers asking politely for an item in a specific size and material and were promised said item. I feel as a business when you promise to deliver said item, it is good practice to follow through with that. She refused to give us back our $20 deposit despite being unable to provide the product she had promised us. read more

I found out this shop with my coworker when we walk to Taiko to have lunch last couple weeks. It's huge shop with many selection of fabrics and Vietnamese traditional dresses. I bought 4 silk dresses on my first visit with the help of the owner. I can't believe the price is so affordable. My mom just paid $60 to have her áo dài tailoring, so when I showed her my ao dai and told her the price her jaw dropped. Today I bring my mom to the shop and the owner shows us the new style just came in doesn't have zipper. My mom buy 4, I buy 6 and she enjoys chatting with friendly owner help her try on and pick the size and matching pants. I wear ao dai size M, but size L on pants because I wear heels, my mom fit pant size M because she doesn't wear heels. All the pants have the expanded rubber on both sides so you don't have to worry if you gain or loose couple inches of the waist line. Can't wait to have my American students wear them for our charity fashion show supporting poor children in Vietnam, and I don't have to bother to ask relatives to make and bring ao dai back to US anymore. read more

Like the previous reviews, I wish I could give this business NEGATIVE stars. My mother and I have scoured Westminster area for fabric, prices, and labor prices for my wedding Ao Dai. When we came across this store, we met Loan. I'm sure is the owner and same rude lady everyone has been reviewing. I didn't have time to look around on Yelp for Ao Dai, I figured there wouldn't be much to research online. We have been to this store multiple different times to confirm the price. Each time, she said $50 for the fabric, $30 for labor to make my Ao Dai and it would take 3 days to make. This sounded too good to be true since other places were charging waaaay higher and it would take 2-3 weeks to make. A month before my wedding, we decided to go with this lady, purchasing her fabric and booking her for labor. She guaranteed the quality of their work, stating the person making my Ao Dai is "famous" in sewing the dresses, etc. She took my measurements, wrote it down on a piece of paper and cut however much fabric she needed and charged my mom accordingly. After she found out it was for my wedding, the price for labor went HIGHER. Instead, labor would cost $50 and it would take 3 weeks to make. She said it was because we didn't mention it was for my wedding and the pricing and style would be "different." Why else would I purchase red fabric with a gold design emblems!??!? How different would a regular Ao Dai look from a wedding Ao Dai? We did not pick fancy fabric, nor did we ask for any fancy design to be made. I was going to wear a sheer robe over it! It was a simple red fabric with gold bamboo and cherry blossom emblems. Since we already had purchased the fabric, my mom said she was still giving us a good deal, so we went ahead and booked her for labor. We also had to pay her in full up front. 3 weeks later, we called 2 days ahead of time to confirm the dress would be ready. The rude lady yelled at my mom saying, "I told you to call on this specific date to see if it's ready. Not to call before that. Call me on that date." When my mom called back on that specific date, this lying con artist tells my mom, "Your daughter is a little on the big side, so we had to cut more fabric to finish her dress, so we are charging an extra $10." After all that, my livid mother says, "Let's go get your dress before she charges us a holding fee." From Gardena, we drove all the way to Westminster to pick up my dress. After giving her the extra $10, she said that I didn't need to try it on, Always a guaranteed fit. I went ahead in the back where there was a bunch of stuff piled up and tried on the dress anyway. She doesn't even have a dressing room to try on the dress! We wanted to make sure it fit properly before leaving the store or else more excuses/problems would arise later on. At that time, I had shed a few more pounds from the stress of the wedding and it still fit properly so we left. If you still decide to do business with this lying con-artist, beware that she will switch the prices on you and she will find another way to get more money out of you even if her quotes are on the lower side. After all that, her prices would end up being the same as the competition. She was just not up front and honest about it. Amazingly, this store has been around forever. I hardly ever see anyone buying anything, so I'm surprised she is still in business. Maybe she has been able to stay open from ripping people off.... I don't know. As far as my wedding day went, the dress fit fine. I had shed even more pounds on the actual wedding day, but I was able to still get away with the loose fitting dress since I had a sheer robe over it. read more

Shady shady shady. My friend was looking to order a few dresses for her wedding, and we happened to stumble across this place.. but let me tell you... go anywhere but here. Although the shop looks inviting with its variety of fabrics, it's really not worth it. The salesperson lady is beyond shady, rude and could care less about you or what you are looking for. She just wants to move her inventory and hide prices in the process. 1.Shady: The sales person is very insistent on you NOT TRYING the dress that you might potentially purchase. I knew it was odd from the get go. It didn't take long for a try on, and my friend was ok with trying it on, so why not try it on right? better safe than sorry. well.. turns out we needed a certain number of the same dress in a particular size and the store was short one, so the sales lady was trying to push another size onto my friend, suggesting that alternations would take care of any size issues. 2. Doesn't care: The sales person just wants to move her inventory, and does not give a care in the world about you. The moment the sales person realized she was short was dress, she immediately tried to push a DIFFERENT STYLE dress onto my friend. And when that didn't work, she tried to suggests a the same dress in a DIFFERENT COLOR, even thought it was pretty clear that my friends needed THE SAME dress in the same color for obvious reason. She also tries to guilt trip you into buying since she claims she "spends all this time helping you" so why aren't you buying. DON'T FALL FOR IT. 3. Sketchy Pricing: The sale person was rude and sketchy about her pricing. In the end, the store was short two dresses (two smalls). we asked if she could order more for us to pick up later. She agreed to order 1 small dress, so long as we put down a $10 deposit, and then she agreed to alter a medium to better fit one of my friends, who said small fit fine, but the sales lady insisted taking measurements and altering a medium. There was absolutely no mention of a fee for alterations. and my friends and I distinctly remembering it NOT coming up in conversation. so there was no way we could have possibly missed it. So when she requested the $5 for alterations we just looked at her in confusion. She also wouldn't even let us try on the altered dress, so who even knows if she really altered it or not.. Overall, I would NOT recommend this place. Save yourself the time and effort and go some where who's more caring and transparent. read more

She took my measurements and told me again that it would be $55 and $25 for the pants. I told her that she LIED to me I would like to return the fabric. She refused. I usually do not go to Vietnamese shops to buy my clothes because of their poor return/ exchange policy. Most shops are very dishonest w/ pricing, a bad unethical business behavior that Vietnamese people adapted from most Chinese merchants selling in Vietnam and refused to change even when they're living in America. Honestly, I feel more comfortable buying from Walmart/ Target, Japanese or Korean shops, sell as listed on price tags. Pros: I only come here if I need anything "traditional". There'a good selection of chiffon fabric w/ linen to be sewn into traditional long dresses. The owner of this shop is more flexible w/ price bargaining compares to other shops. Cons: She's a swindler, once you walk out of the door, return/exchange is nearly impossible. She's also very superstitious, do NOT be the first person walking into her shop and ask for return/exchange and not buying anything from her. She would push you out, yes,....with her hands even if you're her longtime customer!!! Please be CAUTIOUS when shopping here. read more

Extremely dishonest is how I would describe the service I received here. The lady - I think she's the owner - will say anything to get you to buy from her even though she knows darn well that she can't deliver. I was getting married, and needed to find some plain ao dai for my bridesmaids. The lady showed me some of the ones she has but they weren't the right color so we told her thank you, we'll try a different place. She wouldn't let me leave, insisting that what she has is close enough. She kept haggling and I didn't want to be disrespectful so I listened but I was adamant that she didn't have what I needed. Eventually, she said she's willing to custom order them for for the same price because her business has been slow. Red flag. She proceeded to pull out the swatches of fabric and asked me what color I wanted and I showed her. A bit skeptical, i asked her if she was sure she could do it. She said "yes sweetheart, of course!" I hesitantly agreed and she asked me to prepay because it's a custom order so I did, and she gave me the receipt. Big mistake on my part but my wedding was also a couple weeks away. I came back a week later to pick them up, and they're no where near the color that I requested. Basically, it was no custom order - she just sold me what was already in her store. I confronted her and she acted completely dumb saying that this was the color that I ordered blah blah blah... and no refund because it's a "custom" order. In summary, this place is dishonesty as its worst. It's a place where you have to haggle for sure. Do not prepay anything. Do not custom order anything. I have 4 traditional dress set made total is $630 (she told me shipping is $20) hopefully it will fit me. my friend went with me and paid for the dress and she charge shipping again even we agree to ship to the same address. When we left we figured we were charged twice on shipping cost. She charged my friend $25 even my friend bought only one ready made dress (not custom made). We called her and she refused to refund the shipping. After talking to her more than 30 mins she only agreed to refund me $10 ( and ridiculously she wrote on the shipping refund check is shipping discount!) All of the pants she made for me is too short even I told her I will wear 5 to 6 inch heel with those ao Dai. On top of that all the Dress sleeves are too loose. I have to repair it myself otherwise it wont fit me. I called them up and told her what happened and even sent her the pictures. She said just come back to LA so she will give me free material for those pants!! Who would want to drive there to get it? She just want me to go there so I can buy more from her. NO more. This is the worst Ao Dai shop I ever experienced in my life. DO Not ever go there. This owner Ms. Xuan Luan has no business ethic. If I were her I would offer full refund for those pants. The owner of this business is a terrible human being. She looks for a quick sale & once the transaction has gone through, she'll be done w/ you. I went in there as a last minute resort to rent an ao dai. She didn't have a wide selection & my budget was around $50-$70 since I was only going to wear it for an hour or two. The lady convinced me to purchase fabric instead & get an ao dai made for $50 (not including the fabric). Sounds too good to be true right? Right. After I found the fabric I wanted for the top and pants of my ao dai, we settled on price of the fabric for $50. She told my friends that once we buy the fabric, she'd refer us to her contact to get them made for $50. That's $100 for a custom ao dai that fits like a glove on you! I was thinking, what a freaking deal.... I was already willing to rent one for $70 anyway, so why not shell out another $30 for something I loved. Once the transaction was made and they gentleman cut the fabric, we called up her contacts... 2-3 phone calls later, we confirmed that none of her contacts charged $50 for the labor afterall!!! We were all stunned & felt ripped off immediately. Turns out it was more so $80-$100 and the original quote did not even include pants?? Why wouldn't the business owner disclose that her 'quote' didn't even include the pants. She's been in this business for so long - she must've known! She ended up making up excuses and backpedaling so fast! She said, 'oh it must just be $50 for me...' Puh-lease lady... we are now seeing right through you. I was so upset with the business owner at this point, and we asked her why she'd tell us one thing, but in turn, it was a complete lie. She just wanted us to fork over our cash and be done with us it seemed. I would not recommend this ao dai store to anyone. The fabric selection is decent but don't believe anything this lady says and verify everything promised before allowing them to cut the fabric for you, bc it's all 'FINAL SALE' in their opinion. My mom went Xuan Loan fabric to look for an ao dai (Vietnamese dress). She tries on two . She likes the blue color one. The seller went in the fit area , she mark the dress with a marker . When my mom takes off the dress gave back to her. The seller put on the table and cut a straight line on the bottom without let my mom decides if she want to buy it or not. The seller was very pushy. It made my mom so uncomfortable. She had to buy the dress. After paid for it. The seller told her to come back later to pick up the dress. It will be tailored professionally. When my mom comes back for the dress. The seller told her no need to try it again. My mom hesitates went back and try it anyway. She want to make sure it fit right. It was raining so when we got home . My mom tries the dress again the thread fall out . Seller did sew it by herself with white thread. White thread show out on the dress. She didn't use the blue thread to sew on the blue dress. My mom so upset. She paid for a 70.00 ao dai and it messed up. Now she has to look for a place to fix her ao dai.
