I ordered a snowboard and gloves from MOOSEJAW and paid $714 on Nov 11. MOOSEJAW charges my card immediately. Moosejaw arranges the shipping with Fedex and provides tracking numbers via email. I track the delivery via Fedex which states that the snowboard was delivered. I never received the snowboard. I inform Moosejaw. The gloves arrive separately on a different day under a different shipping number (which were randomly left outside on the street) Scout from Moosejaw responds that they will contact Fedex. Fedex tells Scout they delivered the item. The proof of delivery simply states that the item was delivered, but contains no details. No signature, no name, no helpful information whatsoever. I was NEVER offered a choice of having the signature required or not. Moosejaw made that choice. Scout and Kathleen from Moosejaw were extremely unhelpful and literally did nothing to help resolve the matter. read more

Soooo many people leaving reviews here for their online experience with Moosejaw. For my part, I actually wandered into this physical store location during a visit to Ann Arbor. Wandering the streets in town and ducking in and out of rain I found this quite the surprising refuge. The shop was staffed by three college kids all having a great time hanging out and cutting up while business was quite slow. I think some visitors may have been put off but they were incredibly friendly and invited me into their convo. They even had free snacks and refreshments laid out on a table for anyone to grab. The store has a generous assortment of outdoor gear and a better cashback/rewards plan than REI. There were lots more unique items to ogle here and I spent a lot of time wondering if I needed a lot of things I'm glad I didn't end up buying. Backpacks, shoes, clothing, etc. About what you'd imagine for this kind of place. But a more fun environment with that "never know what you might find" feel. They seem to hold onto inventory that went out of style years ago. Makes it unique. Prices were high, as they tend to be for branded outdoor goods. I finally settled on an Osprey day-pack. I'd been looking for one for a while at this point. Got out for under $100 plus got a reward to spend on my next visit or on their online store. Last week, I bought an Osprey 60 Liter backpack. When I used it on for a day, I found its straps are hurting due to rough strap material and soft waste belt. When I asked the sales person, if it's used it can't be returned. I accept the policy, but I will never come to this store for the rest of my life. The zipper on the soft cooler broke within a couple months of purchase and they told me it wasn't their problem since I didn't have the receipt. I was so sad to hear they were being bought. I was in the middle of an exchange when they switched over the end of January 2024. Instead of giving me my money back they gave me a gift card. Wow, literally the worst customer service I have dealt with in a very long time. Customer service can do nothing other than send an email to a third party shipper. They cannot call anyone to verify that the correct items haven been shipped, or that they are actually in stock. They send an email and just wait days for a response, then accept the response even though it is wrong. I have received the wrong/incomplete item multiple times and the customer service agents refuse to own the issue until it gets resolved. A simple order has taken three weeks, and I still haven't received the package. It is a 100 piece climbing hold kit. First they mailed random screws in a small box. Then after a week of calling (they also made me send pics of the unboxing to prove they are inept) they just sent a bag of 10 Random holds. Had to again send proof that they screwed up again. Was promised it would ship last Thursday, nope. Promised it would be shipped again the following Tuesday, as they apparently took Friday before Labor Day off as well, nope didn't ship. Still hasn't been picked up by FedEx. I think the Walmart/Dicks Sporting goods purchase has ruined what used to be a good retailer. Ah, the illusion of choice and complete lack of accountability. I am not sure who at Moosejaw owns their fulfillment and customer service teams, but they need to be reviewed and likely restructured asap. So Moosejaw wouldn't help me with a missing package today. It was delivered on a holiday weekend, earlier than expected, meaning I was not home and unable to make arrangements. Then when I got home, the package wasn't there. Moosejaw refused to help me with refund, replacement, or store credit. Having been a loyal customer for years, I was shocked. When I asked why they wouldn't help, they said it was their policy that if FedEx confirms delivery, they won't help you if you never actually receive the package. As a business that holds itself out as an online retailer, I feel they need a better policy than this. I will not be doing business with them again. read more

One of the coolest things about Moosejaw is their hilarious emails and general writing style. Makes them look like a great choice over a "soulless" big box store or Amazon. In reality, it's a front for a bottom feeding company. The lowest of the low. Check out their "poor" rating on Trustpilot and - this really takes the cake - their BBB rating is a F. I'll say again: F!!!! Unfortunately, I got hooked by the former and didn't think to check the latter (never again). And when I reached to them because my $$$ order had been sent to the wrong address, they ignored me repeatedly (I think I emailed, chatted, and called them 12 times to their 2-3 slow and disjointed responses), and then lied outright to my credit card company (I'm not using the term lied lightly) about what had gone down. My experience sounds shockingly similar to 2 other recent reviews on Trustpilot where customers got bilked over address issues. No notification it was ready, so was ready to pick up next day and email was sent that order was canceled? I ordered a Pelican Cooler, which I can't recommend to anyone, and when I received it, there was an issue with the rubber gasket in the lid. I contacted Moosejaw.com and they said they would file a warranty claim and ship out a new replacement cooler. All good so far. I got the replacement cooler today. It came in an oversized box with a packing paper, not original Pelican shipping box, which the first Pelican cooler came in. There were black marks on the bottom of the cooler and the rubber feet on the bottom were all dirty. This cooler is obviously not new. Either a return item or display item. I contacted Moosejaw and they said I could return item. I will update review after item is returned and I receive a full refund, which I better. So, my rating is based on Moosejaw.com shipping a replacement product that is clearly not a new product. What's also clear to me, is that you don't see any responses from Moosejaw.com customer service to their negative reviews anywhere (Sitejabber, Yelp, Trustpilot). So i bought a backpack on their ebay site and waited and waited. Finally had to contact them for tracking. They emailed me back saying we kept your money but dont have the item to ship. I go back on ebay and the item is there, but $70 more. I told them that is horrible, please send me my item. They refund me the money but still have the item listed for a higher price on ebay. These guys are horrible and im leaving to hike mt whitney and now im screwed. The least they can do is send me another color or something to help with my trip, but no. I purchased a lot of items during this past Black-Friday-sale weekend. This was my first time using Moosejaw and it was the single worst buying ("buying" = clicking "submit") experience. Period. My cart was loaded with 24 items (for me; wife; kids) that took hours to find. I finally went to check out Sunday night but the page would not advance past confirming my address, so I got on a chat. Based on what transpired this is a known problem which required me to constantly edit/add my address just to be able to check out. I should have run away at that point, but some of the items were not available anywhere else, so I figured I would finish the order. Terrible idea. The checkout page hung after submitting the order, and then just timed out with a random message but I forget the wording. Um, what just happened? It seemed like it just did not go through since my cart was still loaded with everything. Here is where I dropped the ball: I tried to place the order again, but this time got a Gateway 504 error, so their server was clearly having issues. Again, not surprising considering they were using "internet duct tape" to get me past the address-confirmation page. I got on another chat to try to resolve the problem, and to make a long story bearable, and TWO MORE CHATS LATER, it turned out that Moosjaw kept hitting my credit card with charges but NOT PLACING THE ORDER. I guess I should have been thankful that they at least reversed the charges pretty quickly, but totally ridiculous! At that point I had spent TWO HOURS trying to check out, and was finally told that I would have to call in the morning but not before telling me they could try to place the order and hit my credit card again. Yeah, that sounded like a brilliant idea... Again, to make a long story bearable, I got a manager on the phone the next day and it took her two days to figure out what the hell was happening (never got an answer, which was awesome) and I had to place a phone order. At no point did anyone along the way offer any kind of discount for what turned into literally a 3+ hour saga just to hit "submit", but the person who took my phone order "generously" upgraded me to priority shipping. Gee, thanks... Oh, and I will add in case Moosejaw ever actually read these reviews, you have the absolute most annoying hold "music" I have ever experienced. No joke on this one, and please test it out if you don't believe me, readers. I spent what might have been 30+ minutes on hold due to various calls and their hold "music" is employees making animal noises and talking about Moosejaw in the strangest way, "Maybe this is a recording of a person, or maybe it is not real at all... Let me do my bird call, 'Chirp chirp chirp!' etc." I absolutely guarantee they do it as an attempt to annoy customers to the point that that they just hang up. My take is they are a bargain-basement retailer that does not invest in the necessary infrastructure needed to actually run an Internet retail company in 2022, which means you are teleported back to Internet ordering circa 2000. read more

Very Risky Purchase. I never review sites but my experience was so horrible that I hoping to save others the stress and money. I was attracted to the site because it seemed like they had a good deals on winter clothes that I needed. About $650 later, I never received the product and have no way to tell where, to whom, or if the product was delivered. They aggressively contested my claim and, after hooouurrss of speaking with customer service reps, I was forced to pay the $650. No store credit, replacement products, discount - Nothing. A lot of money for me personally and I still needed to buy warm clothes for the winter. I can't believe this website is legal. It seem incredibly fraudulent. I purchased a $35 long sleeve Prana shirt (Order #147731370). I wore it once - carefully - and washed it gentle/cold with Woolite for Dark Clothes. The shirt faded. However, I communicated with Nadia and Jessica regarding a return and they were helpful. Would purchase from them again. Upper level management need to take a look at Customer service and their manager (Jessica) and should be ashamed. I had shoes ordered here using a gift card on promotion. They were too tight. They would not let me place the replacement order for larger shoes. I had to return them first, very annoying. Because once they received them, the size I wanted were out of stock. I was told to check the website stock and I did daily for about six weeks. They never got my size back in stock. Site wide they raised the prices for all shoes in January and now won't even honor the original price I paid. That was Jessica , the "manager"'s solution. She was very unappreciative and unsympathetic towards the frustration of waiting on shoe stock for 6 weeks. No idea how to make things right. Beware of using Moosejaw. I was in need of a jacket after my current jacket zipper failed. I placed an order on the Moosejaw website and paid extra for next-day delivery. The status of the order never changed from "In Process". I chatted with 5 different customer support agents and they all told me something different. I then received an email saying that the item was delayed but would be arriving within 3-4 business days. I reached out again for a tracking number and was told that the order had been canceled since they no longer had the item in stock. All in all, it was a terrible experience. However, because my review was negative, and Moosejaw is apparently beholden to the companies they work with, they decided to pull my negative review to keep their client (Zamberlan boots) happy. This company is the worst. Don't buy a thing from them. Unorganized and no clue how to run a business or treat customers. I bought a pair of ski poles from them and they sent me the wrong poles that had the sticker of the right poles on them. Meaning someone at their warehouse mislabeled them. Then a week later I order a pair of skis from this company and they then cancel the order because they don't have them in stock. It's 2021 the software exists that this shouldn't happen. OOOhhhhhhhhhhh this is theee coolest store in Ann Arbor, MI! I must say that even though it truly was a fun day with the "taste of Ann Arbor" festival last Sunday; this store and it's employees seemed to not care who was there or what festival it was..because they made it seem like they have a "festival" or a "party" every day while working there! They do answer the phone hysterically saying "Mooooooosejaw" and they get to laughing and giggling right away while still laughing with us as well! While we were there, the employee offered to get in a picture for me to take..LOL..he also made a rope swing and hung it from the ceiling and proceeded to swing on it like "Tarzan"! It was hysterical! My daughter, her boyfriend and I were looking around at all of the "North Face" and "Patagonia" stuff they have . I mean they carry those name brand clothes...LOL...My hubby found a hammock outside the storefront ....and even though there was a Kayak above it , hanging in a somewhat unsteady looking manner; he got into the hammock and didn't want to come out! He was really enjoying himself. Also, people started waiting in line to get into the hammock! It was waaay cool and I have a great photo of it which I will post her for you to see! I get the feeling that the employees love their jobs and wouldn't want to be anyplace else! They were having fun, enjoying, laughing and "playing with some of the items" that they sell and it makes you want to go and buy the item also! This is a review for the Moosejaw.com online retailer. I ordered a ThermaRest Xtherm Women's insulated pad from them, which arrived without the scrub sack, box, or repair kit. On contacting customer service, they informed me that I would have to submit a warranty to Therma-Rest. When asked why (since this should not be a warranty issue), they said that Therma-Rest had sent them the items without a complete set. That's right, they sent out the item they sold, which is billed on the website as the complete kit, KNOWING that it didn't have all items included, and now are kicking it to the customer to deal with the hassle. This is a review for their online shopping experience. As a California girl all my life, I've never heard of Moosejaw before last week. I was searching for a particular pair of Keen sandals in a certain color for an upcoming trip to Southeast Asia. Sadly, my local REI only carried these sandals in 2 colors. I did an online search to see where else I could buy them and Moosejaw came up. Even though the website said the sandals were backordered, Moosejaw shipped them the day after I made the order. The sandals were on my feet within a week. I never spoke with anyone working at Moosejaw, but I loved their customer service "voice" as someone who reads everything! I was looking to purchase a snowboard offseason for next winter. I searched all online sellers and waited for the prices to fall. Then I came across Moosejaw, who seemed to have the lowest price on the exact board I was looking for. Furthermore they partnered with Rakuten, so I was able to get an even lower price. Never heard of Moosejaw before that so I was hesitant, but ordered it finally. Item was delivered very quickly and was packaged very well. I also love all the witty and humorous pamphlets that came with it. Best prices and fast shipping. Never did have to contact them for any problems because I had none.
