I thought they should be able to diagnose better than a guess. I called Crain and they were out to the house the next day. They plugged in a tester and informed me that it was the motor control module that was bad. The cost to repair was $1200.00 and the system was 18 years old. I elected to have a complete system (furnace and AC) installed. Crain was there the next day and did a complete install in one day. There was some miscommunication about Lennox financing but that issue falls to Lennox rather than Crain. Workers were prompt and courteous. They covered my basement carpet with a tarp and even covered my wood flooring steps with a tarp trying to be overly cautious of my home. I thought the tarp on the steps was dangerous for them but that's what they did. I don't believe the cost of the system was out of line. Prompt service, good pricing, courteous workers, steps taken to protect my home, and the install went smoothly. Not sure what more you could ask for. There is always someone who will find fault with some minuscule detail but they did a good job for me. The most important question, Would I recommend this company to you. Answer, Yes. I was pleased with their service and would like to use them in the future.

They kept everything clean, covered all walkways with tarp. The duct work was also neater, Compared to my old one. They added a Ptrap for easy cleaning. The unit itself runs great, house feels more comfortable. Much Even temperature across the levels. The crew was very efficient. They did have a hiccup. But they came back and fixed the following day. They did not even take payment before I am happy. They were not the cheapest. But their quote was much better than most other companies in the area. When I had 3 local companies come look and give an estimate for it he was the only one that took the time to verify I did still have warranty on it as well as price for new A/C. He took the time to answer all questions. After getting a detailed estimate for the fix and having them do the work they found leak and fixed it. They also fixed the other issue with it. The technicians Jeff and Jack were very professional and polite and worked on it day 1 and second day there were 3 technicians I do not know the third persons name but he was also professional. I want to tell you that every time I have needed them, they have responded. They "move with purpose". I never forgot that about them because heating and cooling is an essential amenity. The first time we called Pete's we had bought a house that had no furnace, central air or duct work. A huge project, expensive all by itself. We had a new baby and had to be ready to move from our apartment into the house within weeks. The level of coordination and care that Pete's has is unheard of! Even when there are other contractors involved such as electricians, they all work together with such professionalism, respect and synchronization that you literally cannot tell that they all do not work for the same company. This is no small thing if you have ever had any large projects done on your home that involved several subcontractors. It can be a nightmare, cause delays and eat up your money and sanity. The quality of work, peace of mind and overall satisfaction was worth what we paid. I believe that we received a good value on the work to begin with. The ease during the project was a bonus. Working with Salesmen Ayuob was stress free at all times. Install went flawlessly and the new HVAC system was installed in my home 1 week later. During city inspection we had some very minor problems here and there and Ayoub made sure they were taken care of right aways to ensure the new unit made all codes. 6 months after install the Unit is running great, we have not had a problem with it and I'm extremely happy with my choice of going with American Air.

He was then able to get back to me and upgrade my system, install a new water heater, and take the old one out... all within 72 hours of my original request. It's not the same business and my experience with Mastercraft was not good, just from basic customer service perspective. I made an appointment to troubleshoot a non-working AC. They said they couldn't give me a time window until the day of. So I called at 8:30 and the office told me should be afternoon maybe around 1. So I skip lunch figuring I'll grab something on the way over when I get the call. No call, so I end up eating only crackers. 4:30pm rolls around and I call and she says I'm next. Next, it's 6pm and the office is closed and I'm wondering if they're still coming or the tech ran out of time. So I call the after-hours emergency service and the on-call tech did call me back and said the tech is still coming. The tech calls me at 7pm and so I rush to the house to meet him and he gets there at 7:30pm. He diagnoses the problem in 2 minutes (no pressure, 20 year old unit, need new). And oh by the way they probably can't install a new one for another month. They're obviously very successful yet they can't be bothered to invest in a system to keep the customer informed when they're coming. Lucky I didn't take the day off work since I work close enough to rush home but it's just a basic lack of customer respect. Anyway bottom line is that Suburban no longer exists, it's just a name (now Suburban Mechanical) that forwards to another business. On the bright side, I found a small very capable business that was able to come out and schedule me within a week.
