Visconti's has always been one of my favorite restaurants. We have not been for dinner in quite awhile so I was really looking forward to it. I ordered my favorite cannelloni. It was swimming in red sauce with a huge thick piece of Mozzarella on top. There was no meat in the cannelloni only frozen thawed spinach. It was awful. The minestrone soup was thin and flavorless. Needless to say, I was very disappointed. My husband enjoyed the scampi but the side of spaghetti was cold. I guess I need to find another favorite restaurant. read more

Service: Always promptly seated because we make a reservation. For dinner at least, I get the sense you really should make a reservation before coming here. Greeters are friendly. Ambiance: I feel like it's very warm and comforting with a good amount of space for their guests seated in booths. Food: I've never really been blown away by any of the food I've had here, but I will say that the food quality is consistently pretty good and we've never had any issues. First, I rarely give 1 star reviews. We have been here 2 previous times with very good to excellent food. Tonight, the service was very good as usual but the food has gone downhill. The 4 shrimp appetizer was excellent. The jumbo shrimp was not overcooked and succulent. It was probably grilled and had a smoky grilled char on it. Our server was good too. The caesar salad was good and the garlic bread was very good as usual. That's where the goodness stopped. Our dinners were not up to par. Not even close. My chicken marsala was unedible. I posted a picture of it here. Chicken pieces were either too thin or way too thick (rounded thick left over pieces). So the chicken was way overcooked, dry, and tough as I'm sure the cook didn't want to serve the larger pieces undercooked. Any chef knows that chicken has to be cut with the same thickness for consistency. I struggled cutting the thin leather like chicken with the supplied butter knife. When tried eating a couple of pieces, it was dry and tough to chew. My wife's Angel Hair with Scallops was no better. The scallops were not properly seared and tasted over cooked. Scallops need to be seared in a pan quickly and not cooked with pasta in the same pan or they will end up without the fresh seafood taste and overcooked. We asked if they could replace the scallops with just 3 of the grilled jumbo shrimp that we had for our appetizer. They did but this time, the shrimp were overcooked and chewy. That tells me there is no consistency in the kitchen. We will not be coming back as there are plenty of other restaurants with consistently great food. There's another 1 star Yelp review here in June 2026 by someone else that said the chicken marsala was unedible with overcooked leather like chicken. The quality of this restaurant has gone downhill and the owner's need to hear this. I'm not the only one. read more

I was in athleisure and a comfy sweatshirt, but there were people in shorts and t-shirts, so no real dress code here. Dinner started with a complimentary cheesy kinda garlicky bread. The hubs enjoyed that. The scallops were an app. A lil dry. I think due to the way they seared it. But it was a good size with three scallops. The house salads were a nice intro into our mains. A good portion for a an inclusion. My pasta was huge. Plenty of seafood and sauce. And it was nice and creamy which was what I was craving. The hubs sole was fine. I'm not a huge lemon caper person, but it was a good temp. I don't believe the broccoli was sauteed in anything so it's just seemed veg. I like broccoli by itself, so this was fine with me. We arrived at the restaurant at 6pm on Sunday with our friend who already called for reservation. The restaurant was very busy but we were seated immediately. Our waitress was friendly but she was hard to find. Our friend didn't get her appetizer salad until all the entrees were served and had to ask for it from another waitress. We also had to ask for water refill after flagging another server. - Minestrone soup: disappointing. It was too salty for my taste and super watered down. There were only few vegetables and pasta at the bottom. - Garlic bread: the bread was warm and soft. The garlic and butter were very prominent. - Pollo marsala: the chicken cooked perfectly and the sauce was good but I didn't taste any wine in it. The spaghetti was perfectly al-dante and the marinara sauce tasted super fresh and delicious. - Meat combo pizza with regular crust (medium): the pizza was superb! What a great holiday lunch with my coworkers! Our supervisor treated us to Visconti's, and it was such a pleasant experience. The lunch menu was simple and easy to order from, which I appreciated. I went with the eggplant parmesan with light cheese on top since I wanted something flavorful but not too heavy, and it was perfect. The space has a cozy, home-style feel decor nothing too fancy, just warm and welcoming. There's plenty of seating, with both indoor dining and an outdoor patio. You can choose between regular tables and booths, which worked well for our group. The booth was nice and enough space for us all to sit comfortably. The staff were very nice and attentive. One of my coworkers brought her four year old, and the waiter gave her stickers that he carries around which his daughter gave him to share. Such a thoughtful and sweet gesture that instantly brought a smile to her face. Our food came out in about 15-20 minutes, which was great considering there were seven of us. The warm lighting really adds to the ambiance and gives the place a great date night vibe. I'll definitely be adding Visconti's to my list for a future date night with hubby. This is the third or fourth time I've been to Visconti and the food was what I expected...it was okay. We ate here because it's my friend's favorite restaurant. We had a table for 15 but only 7 showed up which I felt bad about since we took up double the space (I was not the organizer). Luckily the restaurant was not busy the night. We ordered the fried calamari and sampler plate as appetizer. The fried calamari was a generous size and tasted good. The sampler plate was decent. For main I ordered the Pollo Alla Visconti $28 with the clam chowder and gnocchi as an up-charge since they make the gnocchi in-house (the rest of the pasta is not made in house). The dish was a generous size, though once the additions were made it came to $35 which is starting to add up. The clam chowder was very tasty (though not as good as Scott's Seafood) and a generous size. The chicken was good. I had leftovers and it was actually better the next day. The gnocchi was rubbery and the tomato sauce was ordinary. If I had known I would not have ordered it. My partner got the chicken parmigiana which was okay. I had leftovers the day after and it was okay (ie. It did not improve the next day unlike the Apollo Alla Visconti) Our server was friendly and helpful. I have friends who absolutely love Visconti and I wouldn't hesitate to come back if they choose it, but it would not be my first choice for Italian food. read more

We had dinner while visiting the area. Stopped in without a reservation. It was a little busy and filled up quickly while we were there (a good sign as we ordered). Call ahead of time like we did to make rezzies, because when you arrive your table will be ready and Visconti's is always busy due to their very faithful following! Tonight we were hoping to be seated in Alex's section, but his was full. However, we did get Indiana as our server and she was fantastic! Very kind, ready to answer questions, and exceedingly friendly! Visconti's is larger than it looks with seating inside and al fresco, as well as their ample bar area. The strip mall parking lot has never been an issue for us. Tonight we were seated in one of their very comfy booths. We also love that Visconti's is a family-owned and run restaurant. Our meal began with the bruschetta. The Hubster ordered the Gnocchi with pesto sauce, the MIL had Spaghetti Alla Paisana, and I ordered the Scampi Vesuvio. All three dishes came with a choice of soup or salad, we each chose salad. Dinner portions are very generous and our meals were absolute perfection! Bonus factor is having leftovers to take away for another meal. We have been to Visconti's many times, and I have failed to give them this glowing review...at least I remembered tonight! We have never had a poor meal or bad service and when friends or family need a suggestion our first recommendation is always Visconti's. I didn't try the ravioli, but the calamari could have used more seasoning. We got the large portion and it was A LOT. The garlic bread had a strong garlic flavor which I liked but I do wish it was a bit crispier. I ordered the Linguini alla Italiana without mussels and thought it had good flavor. The shrimp and squid tasted fresh and were cooked well. It came with a side of minestrone soup, which was decent. We ended with dessert, and that was on us for not checking the price beforehand. Incredible to say the least. It showed me just how bad some of the other places I go truly are. First of all, the marinara is to die for! I don't know how they make it, but it is the best I've ever eaten. To start the meal off, I ordered their tortellini soup. It had a tomato base with creamy cheese tortellini. I'm not a soup person, but I didn't leave a single drop of that soup in the bowl. That's how good it was. Okay back to the main course. I ordered their baked ziti. I ordered this because I have this dish a lot. I was told this restaurant is really good, so I wanted to see what their version of this simple dish was like. It was amazing! I already mentioned the sauce. It also had really creamy ricotta cheese with mozzarella on top. If I was going to be super picky, the noodles were not el dente, but that could be because it was baked. The noodles were not mushy, but a bit soft. The marinara made up for any type of pickiness. I can't even express how much I loved that sauce! You have to try it! The portions are big, so save room for dessert! For desert, I had the coffee almond gelato. It was super creamy and delicious! For the most part, I feel it's a good value for what you get. We ordered the bruschetta, garlic bread, large calzone and spaghetti de campagnia. Frist off started to go to Visconti's when they were on Bidwell, by Handley's , when it was a small store front, with Lace curtains in the windows. And have gone over the years , up to July 23rd, somethings have changed, Last time that I had Veal Scaloppine, the Olive oil, was seperating from the sauce, and was left standing in the plate. The wife had Veal Milanese, it was dry and over cook. The Side Spaghetti sauce tasted Bad, no real flavor. And Finally the salad, the lettuce was so bitter, it was not eatable... It depends on the dish you order, Veal Parm. Great,Calamari to die for! They many dish's that are great, but some fall off the cliff... Hopefully they'll correct the items that need to be fixed.... The first time we ate here about 8 years ago, it was amazing. Same with the next few times we went. The last 3 or 4 times, I was highly disappointed in the food. This is the last time I will eat here no matter who asks me to go or why. Tonight was the worst meal I've had there yet. Chicken Marsala with the chicken so overcooked that I couldn't chew it without grinding on each bite for seemingly minutes and by the time I chewed it enough to swallow, it tasted like liver. I've been coming to Visconti's Ristorante for many years. It's honestly the best Italian restaurant in the Sacramento area. I could seriously eat here everyday. The dishes in my rotation here are the Veal Parmigiana, Pollo Parmigiana, Pollo Alla Visconti, Spaghetti & Meatballs, Mostaccioli Francisco, Baked Ravioli, and the Tortellini Pesto & Spinach. As you can tell with all of the dishes I have listed, they have a bunch of dishes that are absolutely amazing so it makes it super hard to decide every time I'm here. If you were to ask me for my top dish it would be a toss up between the Veal Parmigiana - Chicken Parmigiana - or the Tortellini Pesto & Spinach. All 3 are insanely delicious. No matter what you pick you will be provided with a side of their amazing garlic bread which is legendary. You will probably get full off garlic bread and will have your main dish as leftovers. i wanted to see what this place offered before coming for a dinner; i was not impressed by the photos of food so my expectations were meh. we all ordered a pasta dish and kept any changes to a minimum (i.e. breaded chicken instead of grilled chicken). they quickly put garlic bread out and it was absolutely delicious. very fluffy and flavorful. i think we went through like 6 baskets while waiting. it took 45 minutes for our salads to come out and over an hour for our main dishes to come out. it was not busy. although the server was friendly, the wait time was ridiculous. the spicy vodka rigatoni was not spicy at all but still good. overall, the experience was ok. i am more disappointed in the wait time to be honest. read more

When we walked in I got excited. It was beautiful and seemed friendly. It quickly went left. Our server was nice but the food was waaaaay too overloaded with garlic. Every single item we got had raw garlic in or on it including the caprese salad (which is not supposed to have garlic on it and description definitely didn't say garlic. I ordered one of the most expensive items, the Cioppino $33 a plate. When I say soooo much garlic I couldn't eat it, that's what I mean. My husband LOVES garlic and couldn't even eat his. When I told the server he said "oh well, next time you might be able to order it without" No option to make it right or remedy, no option for substitution, NOTHING!
