What a fun place to eat. We sat outside on a lovely evening We ordered dinner entrees off the regular menu. Everything was delicious. My husband's salmon portion was quite small, but the short ribs were plentiful, so we were very satisfied. Mesclun salad to share was good. Wine was fine., and the prices were very fair. Split a Caesar salad and pulled pork sandwich with my husband. French fries hot and crisp, Cole slaw was OTT! Tasted in house made, finely cut and not sweet! Really good! The sandwich was good as well. Our 2 additional diners both had burgers and I noticed that neither of them finished them but their fries were gone. All in all the food was good! We made a reservation for lunch on Saturday, Dec 9. The restaurant confirmed it in an email. Our dining companions arrived first, and called me to say the restaurant was not open. I called the restaurant and got a message that the restaurant was open and serving lunch. It was not. When we asked at the resort's front desk, we were told it was closed for the winter. read more

If I could give this no stars I would! The only reason I gave it to was because of the atmosphere and the nice staff. We recently stayed at the Cranwell. Upon checking in we decide to stop and eat at Sloane's. We were the only two in the entire restaurant. Our food was mediocre at best. Probably one of the worst veggie burgers I've ever had. Once dinner was done, we sat at the bar and ordered old fashions. We looked down before we took a sip and they were fruits flies in the drinks. The bartender quickly made us new ones but they had the same problem. So we changed our drink order, Had a nice talk with the bartender and checked out. The next morning we decided to try Sloane's again. We figured it was pretty hard to screw up breakfast food. That was honestly one of the worst cups of coffee I've ever had And to boot the bottle of cream they brought to the table had mold floating in it. I have the crepes and they were terrible. I have never had a crispy crêpe before. The filling left something to be desired. He got the lox and bagel and was not impressed. Even made the statement of "this was so much better at the mansion" (where we stayed in October). Breakfast cost us $60. We only got a cup of coffee, juice, the bagel with lox and the crepes. Stars more for the lovely outdoor deck and the good service, rather than the food, which was just okay. Both my husband and I ordered the Mediterranean salad, since we saw it being served to someone at another table and it looked fantastic! Never judge a book by its cover... Presentation: two whole colorful bell peppers, each filled with what the menu described as tabouli salad and couscous salad. In reality, one was filled with Israeli couscous, which is really a pasta not nearly so fine as a couscous, very little vegetables in it, and the dressing was bland to the point of tasteless. The other had the tabouli, which was all bulgur, and again not much in the way of typical tabouli veggies, i.e. no parsley, barely a hint of tomato, no mint...this wasn't really tabouli but a bare facsimile of it. Worth going for the lunchtime ambience on a warm summer day, but order something more mainstream. read more

Sloane's Tavern is part of the Cranwell Resort, and is a great choice for those opting to not dine in the much more formal dining room in the mansion. The atmosphere here is very laid back and casual. The staff are polite, professional, and courteous. The food is awesome. We went with the wings for a starter, and I had the open-faced steak sandwich and my date had a burger. The steak sandwich was fantastic, as were the side of fries. The burger was enormous and I was told it was delicious. Since it was our anniversary, they brought out a chocolate molten lava cake which was devoured. Oh, and for those looking to save a few bucks, there is usually a coupon for $10.00 off your bill in the local papers. If I lived in the area, I would seriously go here every week or so as our experience there was that positive. read more

My dad & I stayed at Cranwell this past weekend, and after a long day we decided we were too tired to start driving around town to find a restaurant, so we walked over to Sloane's Tavern. 1st issue - They don't give out bread. No big deal, but that should have been our first clue 2nd issue - Our food was pretty bad. My dad had the meatloaf which he said was mushy and tasted like it had been microwaved. I had the cod with crabcake, which looked like it had never touch any heat source (like a grill or a pan) and was sitting in a pool of butter. Maybe we ordered wrong, but you'd think a tavern wouldn't mess up meatloaf. The only thing we agreed was good were the mashed potatoes and carrots that came with our meals. I would guess that they were microwaved as well, but they were good. If you're looking for super laid back, this is it, but you might regret it after looking at the prices. It cost about $75 for us each to get an entree, dessert (pie & sorbet), a beer & a cocktail. To Cranwell's credit, they said they would refund the money we paid when we told them how awful it was, but I still wouldn't recommend it - no matter how tired or hungry you are. read more

We visited Sloane's a few weeks ago and were very pleased with the food and the service. It's an indoor/outdoor tavern, so not sure why some folks expect a complex menu. The view is lovely and the wait staff is friendly; we always sit outside. I had the spinach salad with strawberries and a scoop of lobster salad on the side (delicious and not too much mayo); my husband had the grilled chicken sandwich. Okay. Here is what I will say before I begin this review. I went here for a friends birthday and there were two guests that joined us that were INCREDIBLY rude to those waiting on us. Automatically the wait staff deserves five stars for not spitting in the face of the people we were with, and remaining composed and collected throughout our dinner. I don't frequent spa/resorts often so this was a new experience for me. Right off the bat I felt the decor and style of the tavern was very nice, not that that influenced the decision making ability of my mind when it came to the actual food. To start we were offered drinks and I had a Bloody Mary. I tend to like them on the spicier side and forgot to mention it to the server. I took it upon my self to notify the bartender and not intrude with the servers who I really didn't want to intrude on for something so minuscule. I was told the Bloody Mary mix was pre-made but had a pretty good kick to it. I let it be, as it really was not a huge issue and I just like me a good Bloody Mary. It was okay, and I mean that to express just that. No spice, and it almost seemed as if there was no alcohol content to it...(literally no trace of it.) It was small and served in a class fit for a Bahama mama on a cruise ship-not really what I expected. When it came time to order food, our table of six basically did a family style choice of about three different choices. Spring rolls, nachos, and vegetable and chicken pot stickers were brought out to us in an unbelievably quick fashion. As I do not eat meat, I did not try the pot stickers, however they looked and smelled fantastic and my table raved. The nachos were a melted statue of beauty, of crisp chips topped with cheese and the works. They were not soggy, they were PERFECT. The spring rolls, although limited in flavor as all spring rolls tend to be (for me at least), were delicious none the less. For Entrees my girlfriend loaded up on a Crock of French Onion Soup and a basket of fries with Wing Sauce. I sampled both. The soup was fantastic, not too salty and the cheese was perfect atop it. The fries were crisp and seasoned very well. I chose to order a garden burger which was fantastic in itself to be on a menu at a resort(along with grilled portabello as well=).) The order came with an option of three toppings. I chose melted Swiss Cheese, Blu Cheese Crumbles, and caramelized onions. I cannot express that this is by far the best garden burger I have ever ordered at an outing in my life. It was to say the least, invincible. For dessert, we consumed a chocolate filled chocolate cake type thing. I had a bite. I was way to full by this point but it was decedent and I almost slipped into a food coma just then and there. In the end, we were charged for an extra soup, but the food was fantastic. I had no complaints-although the people I was with seemed to=/. I would very much recommend this experience to anyone out in Lennox Mass. Just passing through or staying. The food was delicious. Came out in a timely fashion and the prices, for what you get, are beyond reasonable. And the wait staff was BEYOND accommodating. Enjoy. read more

Stopped by the bar for a quick eat and beer. The New England Clam Chowder was excellent as was the the brownie sundae. The bartender, Stephen, was great to chat with. Berkshire Brewing beer on draft was tasty. The space will be renovated starting tomorrow. read more

Wow. Can't believe a hotel as nice as this has such an uninspired menu and staff. Not going back.

Sloane's used to be our go-to place for a good casual meal, but it has seriously gone downhill. The menu is now very limited, uninspired, and overpriced for what you get. The food itself is mediocre and the cocktails seem diluted. The service is friendly but very slow and unaccommodating. I asked to have turkey instead of tuna on a panini and was told initially, "We're out of turkey," then, "I mean, we have turkey but we can't substitute." Can't substitute what's in a sandwich? The turkey club I wound up with had tasteless supermarket tomatoes and "toasted" bread that was still white. And it took about 40 minutes to get it to me, though the place wasn't terribly crowded. We'll be avoiding it in future. read more

I ordered grilled salmon, obviously a mistake. It came completely overdone and dried out. I sent the whole plate back. As my companions ate buglers, which they enjoyed, I waited. After 20 minutes, my waitress brought back the same plate with a slightly seared piece of raw salmon. I reached out to the nearest server who agreed that it was raw. Then the manager came over and asked how I would like it. I asked for it cooked, but moist, what some would call medium. After another 20 minutes, my salmon came out cooked properly, but with less than two tablespoons of rice. I finally ate dinner after my table had finished their meals. I wasn't offered any break when the bill came. Totally unsatisfactory! read more

While the decor has changed and the menu itself has upgraded, the food has downgraded and the service continues to be subpar. It looks much nicer now but the food has gotten worse. How can a burger be so tasteless. The service has always been bad which I can't figure out. It's a small place but the wait staff seems to hide in the kitchen Unless you're golfing there, there's no excuse to eat there. Thank goodness they were good at refilling the waters otherwise I would have given them one star. read more

There was not a lot of thought into this part of the Cranwell. there was one person on duty about an hour before it closed on a saturday night so when a group af twenty people walked in they were not prepared at all not did they have any food options. read more

I have to admit that we only stopped here for a drink before heading out somewhere else for dinner, but I wasn't impressed. The drinks were fine - we only had a Prosecco and a beer, so not much to screw up on that end but...the service was awkward. The bartender was very young and seemed very nervous and a supervisor or hostess hovered at the bar most of the time in silence right next to us which just felt strange. The bartender changed the TV channel often with each new request, even though we were sitting closest to it, and never asked us if we minded or anything. It just felt strange...not like a tavern, where I expect to feel welcome and comfortable. We checked out the menu while there and while the choices looked OK, service and ambience matter to us, so I don't think we would choose to dine at Sloane's next time we visit. read more

I went to Sloans tavern one time when they had the Buffet last year 2018). It was OK. This year a group of us went out after an event - 4 of us and I had the taco salad. I was up ALL NIGHT throwing up!! I gave this place one star because the wait - persons were njice. but I will NEVER go there again. read more

Great burgers. Casual and quick. Good music too. We were looking for a quick place to eat prior to going to s show. This place was perfect!

What they do well they do well but what they do badly is bad. First the good. The clam chowder is really good and the onion soup is also good. The club sandwich, the Reuben and the Caesar salad with salmon is good if you get the dressing on the side. The chicken sandwich is ok also. But the crab cake sandwich, the salmon burger, and the vegetable medley (carrot, zucchini and squash) are not good. And speaking of that "medley" although there are string beans and Brussels sprouts there are no substitutions. Leading one to believe everything is prepackaged for portion control. read more

Sloane's was a huge disappointment. The waitstaff was nice and repeatedly comped us drinks for sub-par food, but that did not compensate for the lack of guidance in the kitchen. This place bills itself as part of a resort, but it serves up resort-quality prices with food that is worse than mediocre. Whomever is running the kitchen is too inexperience or too uncaring to do better. When I ordered a spinach-strawberry salad with feta, the spinach and strawberries were ice cold, making the salad a very unpleasant experience. Anyone with a hint of restaurant experience would know that salad ingredients should not come out like that. My wife's Caesar salad was just slightly better. A dinner meal was equally disappointing - barely average food for very costly prices. We wised up and hit some of the excellent restaurants in Lenox. On a Roll Cafe is charming and serves great breakfast. We had a fantastic dinner at Alta. We are fine with paying for a good meal. Sloane's should be avoided unless you just want a drink. read more

Interior upgrade was ok. The booths were taken out which leaves no privacy for conversation as tables are all next to one another. Food was just ok. Wings were like rubber and I ordered a cheesesteak sandwhich and the menu stated and extra dollar for onions, peppers and mushrooms. I get the bill and I was charge a dollar for each separate items. What a joke. Will never return again. Much rather go to Applebees. read more

Nice outdoor seating on the grounds of a beautiful hotel. Was here for the Monday night BBQ. Food was beyond disappointing. Overall tasteless and nothing tasted fresh (fruit was rotting, corn was awful, salon undercooked, some strange beef stew was inedible). Waitstaff did not take drink orders and not once did they check in on us. We kept having to track them down for water, napkins, bill, etc read more

So I was trying to watch my favorite sport golf and then direct tv at its best started to spaz and tiger woods got a hole in one !!!!! Then they went back to tiger and he was on the ground I was like what happened and they he's ok. The. I went to my phone and he was standing up #prayfortiger. Possibly the worst service I've ever experienced. 25 minutes before being approached by the server; another 20 before he brought our drinks. It continues to go down hill, culminating in over two hours total--just for two people to eat a simple sandwich. Food was fine, but nothing special.
