Desperate need to install rails at the bar to potty train the STINKER'S, Pandemic level seat stealing when you goto the bathroom. The Thursday night bar tender just allows the seat stealing. A good bar tender would tell the ingnorate stinky drunk that this is someone else seat. People just attempt to walk through you while eating. When you come back from the bathroom and you food is pushed to the side and some drunk smelly guy is in your seat the bar tender is upset when they ONLY get a %20 tip. It should be %10 and if someone is in your seat and if the Stinker is eating your food %5. The food is decent but not my favorite... Message to owner : Get rails and retrain the thursday night bar tender, it's the only way to train the after work stinkers to have some common sense and not STEAL people seats or try to walk through them to the bar while they are eating. The bar tender makes the place and this place tanks because of them. This getto behavior is only acceptable in OTIS,MA. Don't sit at the bar, the stinky's will steal your seat.... Get a table you get better service and a good distance from the STINKY's. This place is a hot mess. And after my husband left an accurate review about our experience last night, our waitress tried to comment that he was lying, and then planted a 5 star review. For what it's worth, we saw who I think is the owner/chef apologizing to the table next to us because their meal wasn't right, either. As I was leaving, I saw her apologize to third table (she never apologized to us although they did comp the raw hamburger). I get the impression that she knows her restaurant is terrible but doesn't care to make it better because there's nowhere else around to eat so you sort of have to go there if you want to eat out. First time here and we will definitely be back. The staff was accommodating and very attentive. It was busy and we didn't call ahead but they got us a table right away. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. There was live music that was very enjoyable. The food was excellent, from starters to the main course we didn't want to stop eating. My wife cleaned her plate, that's just about the biggest compliment a place can get. Our only regret is that we didn't get to try everything on the menu we wanted to. Service itself wasn't great. One member of our party was ignored during the drink order. The shrimp scampi was drowning in sauce and the shrimp was very overcooked and rubbery. The sauce for the buffalo wings tasted off. Like it had fermented. The beef patty in the cheeseburger was raw and cold in the center. When we told the server, she took the food away without apologizing and then argued with us about the wings and said the sauce is an acquired taste. Closed at 6pm on a Saturday!?! We had family drive an hour to eat dinner there. We walked in to get a table, they said they're closing for the fireworks. The fireworks!?! Lol it's not posted on their website for 1. for 2. the staff was unbelievably rude about it. We left, and a man hanging out with the staff said, "See you soon." I said, "No you won't." and he says, "Good I don't care!" Did I promptly tell that guy to f off? Sure did, but wow. Just wow. The owner did reach out to me stating that the man was just a customer, not an employee, but this man spoke to us on behalf of the restaurant - what customer would ever say, "See you soon!" She said that they also posted the update on their FaceBook and their Instagram as well as put a sign on the door. 1. I'm not on any social media, so I check the website directly. 2. My family from out of town had to drive an hour to see the sign on the door stating they were closed. 3. How would we know the check their social media pages? Who expects a restaurant to be closed at 6pm on a Saturday night for fireworks 9 days after the actual holiday? read more

Stopped in at the knox trail inn for lunch while up in the otis / chester area. It was a gorgeous day and we were getting pretty hungry. We ordered 2 mushroom swiss burgers without the buns, one medium and one well done and side salads. When the burgers arrived they were both very very rare. Bleeding rare. One was just a plain hamburger on a plate, and the other with a slice of cheese and 2 strips of bacon on it. It was returned to the kitchen and came back out as the same burgers with some cold canned mushrooms on top and 2 side salads. The lettuce in the salads was wilted over the sides of the bowl. I was able to eat the burger, but unfortunately my partner was not able to eat anything on her plate. We were talking to our server (who was very nice) and she shared that they were extremely short staffed. My personal thought is that the cook was simply way over their head. It's a great spot and nice inside, hopefully they can get it together. read more

The food was simple bar food: nothing difficult and certainly nothing outstanding. Additionally we watched as a tray of shots was delivered to the kitchen area. Big red flag! We ordered takeout from Knox on a Thursday after being seduced by the gorgeous photos on their website. Upon arrival, we waited in a small crowd for a host to appear. Large parties came and left without ever seeing a host. Finally two appeared who then directed us to the takeout counter. (How about a sign?) More waiting, even though we were the only ones in line. We eventually paid and left with our much-anticipated meals. The chicken piccata, rather than a thin breaded fillet, was a small brick of overcooked chicken in a soggy crust. It was served over very mushy linguini with a few scattered artichokes. I love a good piccata. This was not that. Or even close. The other two orders were pizza: the Margherita and the Parma. The first was decent, although I wish they had found ripe tomatoes (it was July, after all). The second was unrecognizable. The broccoli and chicken was all a uniform shade of brown, and it had been so badly overcooked, that it had no sauce to it at all. We ate what we could because we were hungry, but deemed the two subpar meals unworthy of saving and threw them out, which is a shame because we had ordered a large pizza so we could have leftovers. When it came to desert, we discovered that they had not included the carrot cake we had purchased, which capped off our disappointing experience. We were excited by the menu and eager to try this restaurant, whose menu seemed really promising. But we will not be back. For $80, we expected waaaaay better. read more

Stopped in on a cold & blustery Sat after a hike in the woods with my brother and a friend. We sat in the bar area and ordered 3 Berkshire beers on tap and a large combination pizza. I hadn't had a pizza there in a few years,as the last one was just average. When the pizza came out after a short wait it looked delicious and tasted even better. The crust was phenomenal and pizza was cooked perfectly and the toppings were fresh and tasty. The creator of this gorgeous creation happened to walk through the bar as we were dining and we congratulated him (Marc) on his solid work. I wish I could tell you something about their food, but I didn't get any food from them, no matter how hard I tried. Wanted to place a takeout order for eight people, but the phone kept ringing busy. (Haven't heard a busy signal in years.) So we got in the car and drove to the inn, where we discovered why the line was busy: people were calling but employees weren't answering the phone. We waited at the counter in the dining room. And waited. And waaaaaited. Servers walked by and didn't seem to even notice us. Were we ghosts? Went for dinner tonight with my son & grandson. We had prime ribs & my grandson got chix tenders and a cheeseburger. We ordered our PRs rare. Mine came out more medium. The waitress (Delia) graciously took mine to exchange for a rare one but they were out for the night. She offered to get me another item but l had my heart set on PR so she offered to comp me a dessert. I got by ok. The difference was the waitress. Delia was so accommodating and so kind to my ten year old grandson - she couldn't have been nicer. They keep closing earlier and earlier and raising prices more and more. You need to be open to make money plain and simple. The drink prices are unreasonable, food prices are a little high for what you get. I was not impressed with the wings. The menu says wings and wing dings come out. I watched someone else get normal wings two weeks later. So looks like hit or miss. The burgers same to be semi safe, but underdone. So if you wany medium you have to ask for well. Almost like the don't cook to order and just cook every thing they way they want and it doesn't matter what you ask for. The bar tenders and wait staff are usually on point which is where the +2 stars come in... read more

Party of 4. Drinks and apps were good. Main course came out burger with fries all cold, chicken parm grinder with onion rings all cold, portobello mushroom burger with sautéed garlic (not even sautéed, was basically peeled and put on the burger) and sweet potato fries ALL COLD, not even look warm. (4th person had a salad). Asked for medium rare on the burger and it came out well done. Asked for mayo for it and had to chase down the waitress to get it as she never remembered to bring it. We told the waitress that the burger was done wrong and only offered to redo it. They were friends from out of town and were NOT impressed. Sad to say the Knox is no longer on our list. So disappointed since this is a great spot to grab dinner locally, but we will not be returning. read more

we've been going to the restaurant weekly and spending $75-$100 per visit The meals were good including their prime rib. At our last visit the carrot cake was dry. We told the waitress and she was flip about it. She actually made a joke and did not offer a substitution or to take it off the bill. We asked for the manager/owner. He came over to our table and had little to say. Again he didn't care about our dissatisfaction and didn't have offer to remove it from our bill. WOW. We were stunned ! Just returned from dinner, my meal (fish and chips) was served, first bite, not warm, second bite, cold, third bite FROZEN solid. Sent it back to the kitchen where owner, Brooke was cooking. Waitress offered another meal, I declined as the taste of frozen fish isn't pleasant. No apology from waitstaff or owner. Decided to opt for dessert, in the meantime asked for clarification that I would not being paying for the frozen meal, my one drink and dessert. Gabbie, the waitstaff said "No you had the option to pick a different meal, you don't get to decide not to pay for the drink and dessert." At that point I decided to cancel dessert, pay the tab and leave (we were a party of six on a slooooow Saturday night in Otis) and we are local residents. It was HUGELY disappointing that Brooke didn't come out to apologize ...this wasn't a "cold meal" but a FROZEN meal. The waitstaff making executive decisions and with an attitude was unnecessary. I ask, would it have been unreasonable for The Knox to omit the charges for one drink and one dessert after receiving a FROZEN fish dinner? STAY AWAY. read more

I'm giving two starts because, one: The place it's huge. Nice place, a lot of tables and spaces. They even have a fireplace and a stage for music ou shows. So it's a great idea to go with your family or a party. The food it's good. Even though I asked for a well done meat and they made a bloody one. They didn't want to do something nice. You know how do I know? Because the service there was the worst service of my life. I was almost beginning the bartender to give me the menu, a beer or to look at least in my eyes. Awful! Just visited Knox Trail on Saturday night. Scoring it a three star may be being very generous. First off they advertise and push their pizza but when I went to order one I was told they aren't serving pizza. Instead I ordered the Chicken Parm. The chicken was actually good but the linguini and sauce it sat on not so much. The sauce tasted like stewed tomatoes with some oregano. Not good at all and linguini appeared to be just a dried variety you get packed from the market. Salad very basic, nothing memorable. Also ordered app of Cauliflower Bites which obviously were of the pre made frozen variety all doughy. Overall not what you would expect from a menu highlighting "The Executive Chef". read more

This place has fun tasting events, live music and is in a very fun little town. Definitely worth stopping all times of the year. Living in a remote town is tough with limited access to restaurant, attractions ect... The Knox Trail Inn is one of our absolute FAVORITE places to eat and not because we have limited options. I've never had a bad meal and whenever something was a tad off, it's always been fixed. From pizzas, to burgers, wings, seafood and prime rib; it's always been top notch! ... And obviously the libations! The owners, staff and patrons are so friendly. We absolutely love the fun events like bands, trivia and musical bingo certain nights if the week. And beat yet, if you are a snowmobiler, you can ride right to the restaurant, park your sled and warm up with a fantastic meal! If you haven't been yet, you are missing out! read more

We were not impressed at all. Sat at the bar, bartender had the personality of a rock. Did not smile once the entire visit.. Kept her head down the whole time she was working. Slow service as well. Never once checked on us or asked how our food was. I had a French onion soup that was a bit lacking... Not much cheese at all, the croutons were flavorful, broth almost clear and bland, not very hot. Pretzels were awesome, soft and buttery with a delicious cheese sauce. Steak and cheese was more like a French dip... Had sauteed onions and peppers that were almost non existent and undercooked. Having seen that they were under new management, we stopped in on a Saturday night about 6. There were no tables available in the restaurant (!) so we snagged a table in the bar. We had some wings to start, they were very good, moist, meaty, crunchy outside. Then we split a mushroom pie, that was very good with Fontina in addition to mozzarella.
