I was so excited to stop in and pick up my Yelp goodies and free California roll today! Of course I had to pick up the Naruto Roll ( salmon, tuna, crab, avocado, crab and cucumber) and some seafood udon in miso! Yummmm! After a long day at work they were quick to prepare and pack to go. Everything was fresh, crisp, and tasty! Staff were friendly and extremely helpful answering my questions about how to order food that is (relatively) gluten free. Conveniently just outside of downtown, this small sushi place was pretty darn good. It's not very big. There was a lot of cute Asian decor. It was a nice chill atmosphere. It got a little hectic after they got busy, but it didn't stop the server from coming to check on us. Pork gyoza appetizer was to die for! Crispy and flavorful. The sushi was absolutely amazing too. My husband says it's probably the best he's had which really says something! My group had spicy Mexican, spicy octopus, spicy tuna, musashi, spiderman, and captain roll. We all tried each other's rolls and loved all of them. My niece completely smashed her kids chicken udon. I ordered pork belly udon. My soy egg tasted great, but there were cold spots while eating it. I'm not sure if it's supposed to be that way, but I wish it wasn't. The broth itself was a little sweet, but not super flavorful. The pork and udon noodles were fantastic. The server was very kind, and she was able to frequent our table to make sure we were satisfied. For as much as we ordered, it wasn't too expensive. Hard to beat their lunch specials. 2 sushi rolls and a salad/soup for like $10. Bento box for about the same. It was dreary out when I went to Mori so I was in the mood for the Tonkotsu Ramen. $11. Located in Fletcher Place, Mori offers a large parking lot and a warm, welcoming space. A short wait (they were swamped!) and we were seated. Exploring the menu, we opted for the pork gyoza and I ordered the spicy crispy chicken ramen (both came recommended by our waiter). The gyoza was crispy and delicious with a little side of sauce - though I always dip mine in my ramen broth. The ramen came hot and flavorful. This broth clearly had been simmering for awhile - and the spice level had heat but wasn't inedible. The chicken - I was a bit skeptical of how crispy chicken would be in ramen, but it was DELICIOUS with just a bit of crunch. I want to start by saying if you are shying away from this location because it's in Fletcher Place or otherwise a busy/confusing part of downtown, DON'T! It is surprisingly accessible from any part of the city(about 8 min from the Statehouse), and super easy to get back to I-70. It's also kitty-corner from Metazoa Brewery, so you can't beat that. I stopped in for my first Yelp Elite event and picked up an assortment of rolls to bring home to my husband and kids. We tried the Philly, Eel, Dragon, Firecracker, and Yummy Yummy rolls. Service was polite and my order was prepared in about 20 minutes as I waited in the waiting area by the door. Were they good? Let's just say the Yummy Yummy roll was completely gone before my husband and I got a second piece (my 11-year old inhaled it). I also enjoyed the jalapeno and cheese in the Firecracker roll- it was a lot like a jalapeno popper. The basic rolls were a smaller portion, with about 6 pieces each, where the specialty rolls were a little larger. In all, 5 rolls was just enough for our family of 4, but we probably could have eaten more. We plan to return not only for the quality sushi, variety of rolls, clean and pretty dining room, but also surprisingly convenient location with a large, private parking lot. read more

I was blown away by my experience here! I had about an hour to kill and needed to finish some work, so I popped in, thinking that it was a fast-casual spot. I arrived right when they opened and quickly saw that it was a nice sit-down spot (you can get takeout of course too!). I went ahead and took a table by myself and was quickly greeted by an incredibly kind and attentive server. The entire restaurant felt so clean, thoughtful, and welcoming. Everything from their signs to their logo to their menus are beautiful. Their team of sushi chefs were in their chef whites, chef hats, and looked incredibly polished and professional. I opened the menu and was wowed by the colorful, appetizing photos in the menu. I've truly never seen better food photography. It made me want to order literally everything. I went for the miso soup and Spideman Roll. It had crabmeat tempura, avocado, soft shell crab, eel sauce, spicy mayo, scallions and caviar. It was super delicious and the plating was beautiful. I was pleasantly surprised by the price too. For such a high quality spot, my meal was $15. There's finally a new sushi restaurant near downtown! Such a great sushi place hidden in fletcher place. There aren't any large signs but it's catty corner to Metazoa Brewing Company. There is a parking lot for parking or side street parking. Small, intimate space. Outdoor (the patio is so cute) and indoor seating, they also have to go options. There's a book for a menu and lots of speciality rolls and they also serve ramen. I can't to try the ramen. Our server was so sweet. The servers are still wearing masks while serving. They were so flavorful, delicious, super fresh, very well done. We started with edamame, of course. The Hokkaido roll was my favorite roll of the few we ordered. I love that although this place is between downtown and fountain square(ish) they have a parking lot beside the building with plenty of spots. Both the spicy crispy chicken ramen and the tonkotsu pork belly ramen were amazing. Full of flavor, came out fast, served super hot like I like & enough to have leftovers. One thing that stuck out to me the most was the noodles used- they weren't your basic ramen noodles which can be less than filling. Not sure what the noodle was called but they were thicker and filling. The spicy Cali roll was good but not the best I've had and it was freezing this day but the restaurant seemed to be very drafty or they simply didn't want the heat on. Overall a 4/5. Service is friendly and attentive, but not hovering. Prices are reasonable and the menu is extensive. From sushi for the beginner to the advanced, as well as a variety of ramen, noodle and rice dishes along with a phletora of appetizers. If you can't find something on this menu, then... well you're not looking. I of course went overboard and wanted to try every darn thing... I did limit myself to a Shrimp tempura, aCali Roll, a Crazy roll, and Yakisoba with chicken. I did say limit, right? Started with the Shrimp tempura which came with beautiful giant tempura shrimp along with a medley of tempura veggies. The tempura was crispy, yet very light and melted in your mouth. And so flavorful too. The veggies included broccoli, onion and asparagus and probably something else which I can't recall right now. I have my sushi rolled with soy paper, since I don't care for seaweed in any shape or form. The Cali roll was typical but with nice fresh ingredients and so nice and tasty. The Crazy roll is actually deepfried, so it has a nice little crunch on the outside, then the rice filled with the fish inside and a spicy mayo drizzle on top. Quite tasty. My Yakisoba noodles with chicken were a little bland, but still raher tasty. Nice consistency and a decent sized serving. My guests dishes all looked very appetizing and from comments it was clear that eveyone enjoyed their dishes. So, yes I do recommend this place and I will most likely be back. read more

Visited Mori Sushi for the first time during lunch. The parking lot was big, so no problem finding a space. I ordered the California roll, caterpillar, Naruto roll, tonkatsu ramen, and sweet taiyaki. The rolls were solid, regular tasting sushi rolls. Naruto roll is wrapped in cucumber. I do have some small critiques. I ordered to-go so before I left, I checked my bags because something was leaking. It was the ramen. The noodles weren't packed separately from the ramen, so when I got home to eat it, the noodles were over cooked and soggy since it sat in the broth. I was so excited to eat the taiyaki and ate that on my drive home. It was deep fried, but the red bean paste filling was ice cold. I was also surprised there wasn't wasabi or ginger served with the sushi rolls too. My husband and I had an awesome experience with our to go order. We arrived a few minutes early so called to see if it was ready, but we're told it would still be a few minutes. The hostess took our name and actually called us back when our order was ready - it was very thoughtful! Now for the food- we got four rolls and two orders of miso soup for the two of us and it was the perfect amount. I was selected to attend Yelpies Elite Week at Mori Sushi on College Avenue this week. The Event is leading up to the second Yelpies Indy Awards Ceremony on January 27th. Upon entering, I picked up a free large red, insulated Yelp Swag Bag along with a nice size coffee cup, chopsticks, and a canned Bramble Mule Cocktail from Cardinal Spirits for Awards Night. As part of the celebration, Mori Sushi gave each Yelp participant choice of one free sushi roll from a selection of four (Spicy Tuna Roll for me) plus 15% off on extra food ordered. When I saw the menu I couldn't leave without trying a few other rolls. I left with the extra Crabby, Fireworks, and Spicy Girl Rolls. All four rolls were delicious and widely varied with spicy crab, salmon, avocado, jalapenos, and shrimp tempura. The server was super friendly and very helpful in selecting the rolls I'd like. The dining area and Sushi bar looked comfortable in a contemporary setting with ample seating. A large patio will be open in the Spring. This Japanese restaurant not only serves sushi but many appetizers, soup, salads, rice dishes, and Japanese rice donburi. Lunch is served Mon - Thurs, 11a - 2:30p with sushi rolls, Bento boxes, and various lunch noodles. NOTE: They CLOSE after lunch until 4:30p and close at 9:00p (Mon-Thur) and 10:00 on Friday and Saturdays. They open at Noon on Saturdays. I went for lunch and they have amazing lunch combos from 10-15 dollars. I got the tofu bento box and it was so good! It came with 3 gyoza, 4 pieces of California roll, rice, tofu and vegetables. Also a salad, with the best dressing I've ever had I might ad, was provided before my meal (you could get soup instead if wanted). I'm pretty excited that a good ramen place opened up in indy. Prior to I had to drive all the way to Carmel if I wanted some ramen (I know, no ramen is pictured here. Sorry!!) so I'm glad I don't need to make that drive as much now! Their temari bento looks beautiful and the sushi itself is well prepared and tastes great! It was also rather filling so I think it's pretty reasonably priced for how much it costs. The ramen that is not pictured is good. The meat is prepared well and the broth has a good flavor to it. I wish it was a little richer and the soft boiled egg is only okay, but overall a very solid bowl of ramen. The udon is light and refreshing and the noodles had great texture to it. I really enjoyed the overall flavor of the seafood udon, but wish there was more scallops in it. For dessert I highly recommend the mango mochi because it's delicious and a great way to end the meal. We went in for date night on Saturday. When you first walk in, its got such a cute, small, cozy vibe with a fish tank that had a lot of pretty fish! There was a bit of a wait, but the nice host suggested we go to Metazoa for a second and wait there (love local businesses promoting other local businesses!!) We went and had a quick pint, then they called us so we came back over. Our server was so nice and she was great!! She checked in on us periodically but not too much. We ordered our drinks. My fiancé had a lucky Buddha beer, which tastes similar to a Heineken according to the server. It came in a really cool bottle shaped like a Buddha! I ordered riesling. The drinks were reasonably priced for down town at $7 and $8, but you can get cheaper bottles such as bud light for $3. They also had all different types of saki, available by glass or bottle. Now for the good part- the sushi. We ordered the Pink Lady roll, the Spiderman roll, the California roll, and the Philly roll. The Pink Lady roll is probably my favorite roll of sushi I've ever had. It had spicy crab, cream cheese, avocado, and asparagus. The wrapping was pink soy paper, hence the name. The seafood in all of the rolls tasted fresh and were wrapped neatly. The broth was layered with flavor and had a nice throat heat but not spicy on the tongue. The chicken actually stayed crispy. I think we both mentioned 15x how amazing the ramen was as we were eating it. Don't sit on this! Spicy salmon roll - fresh fish, soft rice, held together nicely, and plenty of wasabi + ginger. I really liked my crazy roll! So tasty. It was even good the next day! I also tried the pineapple fried rice with chicken. It was okay. Think I would've liked the rice better without the sesame seeds. I also tried the Cali roll and it was good as well. This place was so cool! I never would have found it on my own. We walked in and were seated right away. It's small but cozy inside. I got the spicy tuna for our free event roll and they were delicious! We then split the sweet potato roll and mermaid roll. I was excited to try a new sushi restaurant this week. When I got there the hostess was taking care of someone, but she sat me in a booth as soon as she was able. (I got there at the perfect time. Just a few minutes later there seemed to be a back-up at the door.) The inside was small, but the space was used nicely. I didn't wait long for my server. I ordered a Diet Coke (it was a little flat) and a corona (excited they had lime-the server wasn't sure). Since they have sushi in their name, I thought the sushi list would be a lot more extensive. To me it seemed they had the basics, but nothing fancy (I love the fancy!) I ordered the Philly roll and the shrimp tempura roll. They were huge pieces (I had trouble putting the shrimp roll pieces in my mouth, they were so big.) The rolls were good, but nothing I'd say I HAVE to have again. I never got a refill of my empty Diet Coke, so I had to ask when the server brought my bill. (He really didn't check on me.) I had to get food to go and I saw some pretty good reviews. Maybe I caught them on a bad day but if not, I'm not sure if their hot food servings fit the container. I got chicken yakisoba and even though the serving size was less than expected, you can easily recognize that real, fresh eggs are used, as well as rice. Everything tasted fresh, and only a tad bit oily when it came to the rice. I accidentally ordered the wrong sushi roll but ended up getting their Indy roll and I LOVED it. The pork belly ramen has a very slight sweet taste and it's great but I love the spicy salty flavor of the chicken ramen instead. They're both flavorful and the ramen paste is very well done as well. Atmosphere/Cleanliness: Pretty great atmosphere, felt fairly clean. The bathrooms were nice as well Main: I got the Vampire roll and veggie fried rice. The vampire roll was pretty good, a bit too much avocado, but with soy sauce, it trashed yummy. My only complaint was that the end piece rolls had basically only shrimp tempura tail in it, so those pieces didn't have any meat. The fried rice came with miso soup which was phenomenal! The fried rice was interesting - it tasted very sweet and a bit like frozen veggies. Not my favorite. Service: Service was good, except that I had to set half of my table which isn't a big deal. Would I go again: Yes! it hits the sushi spot and definitely is worth the price, but I was not wow'ed. read more

Yelp elite brought me to this sushi restaurant today. It's near downtown in Fountain Square district. They have plenty of street and lot parking nearby. I went in right when they opened at 11 a.m. I was assisted right away by a young gal who wasn't super friendly but did get my order in quickly. I was given my free Yelp bag and told to wait while they prepared my food to go. I ordered the California roll sushi and the Yakisoba Chicken Ramen. The decor of restaurant is super cute and chic. I'd like to come back to dine-in sometime. Once I got home, I tried both of my items and they were decent. I think I liked the ramen a little more than the sushi. read more

Wasn't too impressed by the sushi quality. The NIGRI had little to no taste. My friend said "It was like eating nothing." We sent it back and got thicker slices (no rice) and that was oddly slightly better... The service was VERY peppy and friendly. Made up for the sushi. The rolls had lots of sauces on them so it was difficult to say how good the sushi was. I ordered roe and it came on a very awkward cut of a cucumber. Difficult to eat it. We chose it based on the appearance of the interior. The Ambiance seemed pleasant. The start rating seems to be more about their RAMEN selection (which I wish now I tried) rather than the sushi we went for. Oh well. I don't live in the area, so I don't know what the standard for sushi is here. read more
