The matcha flavor was strong and balanced well with the milk option. Mochi could have been smoother; it was kind of grainy and very chunky -Vienna Matcha Latte, 25% sweet: lighter matcha flavor. very sweet even though we lowered the sweetness a lot. not much matcha flavor-- it was hidden behind the vanilla cream. A few spots to sit inside but it's more of a pick up and go spot. Next time would just order the regular matcha latte or try the strawberry matcha latte. read more

I came here with my friend to check out this new matcha spot, and it did not disappoint. I would highly recommend getting a lower sweetness level- the jam (depending on your order) and milk do a lot of heavy lifting! I loved my strawberry matcha, it had the right amount of fruit that went together very well with the rest of the drink after mixing. My friend enjoyed how creamy her Vienna matcha latte was, but did mention she preferred mine and would get it the next time she visited. There's limited seating inside, but Moriwa is close enough to Ocean Beach and to a few parks that it seems like a disservice to not take your drink to go and to explore the beautiful nature that SF has to offer. read more

Heard about this new matcha shop that took over YeYe Coconut Jelly Shop. Happened to be in the area for lunch and decided to stop by afterwards. Moriwa is still in its "soft opening" phase with limited options. Didn't get a chance to talk to anyone as ordering was completed through the kiosk. I opted for the strawberry matcha latte with 0% sugar and light ice. I enjoyed my drink because I'm sensitive to sweet drinks and many may have different opinions but the strawberry puree really brought just the right amount of sweetness for me. The matcha flavor could've been slightly stronger, but overall, no complaints. The shop isn't designed for lingering, the design is more of a "grab and go". Located in a residential area with other restaurants all along Taraval. Price points are competitive and reasonable. Moriwa Matcha is a new matcha drink shop on Taraval between 22nd and 21st Ave. They just opened December 2025 and are currently in their soft opening stage. The shop is tiny with very limited seating, so it's mainly to-go. They offer a variety of matcha lattes including the strawberry matcha latte, brown sugar matcha latte, plus a matcha frappucino. I came on a rainy Sunday and there was no line. You can either order at their kiosk or at the counter. I ordered a strawberry matcha latte with light ice (there is no option for no ice). The drink was just okay. I didn't taste a strong matcha flavor, and although the additional strawberry purée was good, for me, the overall the drink wasn't sweet enough (I didn't modify the sweetness level). My friend got the hot matcha latte, which she thought was okay. Service was okay. I had asked the worker some questions, but she had a hard time hearing me from behind the drink making counter. They do have a reward system if you enter a phone number, but she said I didn't enter it in time. Pretty good! Reminds me of True Matcha from Las Vegas. Definitely superior to the average matcha spot, the matcha is pretty good quality. The double matcha is the most matcha forward. My friends and I ordered at the kiosk, and a worker was available to answer questions before working on our drinks. I enjoyed my double matcha cream latte with less sugar very much. It was creamy and had a good matcha flavor. However, the strawberry matcha and matcha lattes were let downs, as they tasted watered down. The matcha could be a little stronger and better whisked though because there were a few clumps at the bottom. I've had three different lattes here so far, and every one of them nailed the balance of creaminess, body, and matcha flavor even drinks with added toppings. came around lunchtime on a tuesday, no line and the shop was very quiet (no music and an empty pastry case) with only one worker. ordering is done on a giant tablet screen by the door. there is 1 bench, 1 couch, and 2 barstool window seats inside, but i can see how crowded it would get on weekends. service was pretty quick and she answered any questions we had. i give the cream brulee boba matcha a 5/10. this was my bad for not reading the menu, but i was thrown off at the boba's presence. the cream brulee is hard to taste with the straw, so i recommend opening the lid and sipping to get a layer of the brulee with your matcha sip. the matcha is average, its flavor isn't that present and is a bit milkier (but the boba's flavor might be biasing me). i think my eyes skimmed past "boba" since there were so many words and i was more excited for the topping. i think the boba and its syrup makes this taste too much like a milk tea drink and less of a traditional latte. (personally, i don't like boba in my matcha if getting it at a matcha specialty establishment because of this reason). i wish there were a way to omit the boba while still getting the cream brulee on top. i really want to try the cream cheese matcha latte (my usual go-to), but was very intrigued by the cream brulee. would come back for that and maybe the mango? but i would recommend IF you want to give these drinks a go/like boba in your matcha. read more

I decided to give this new spot a try yesterday since I was passing through town and unfortunately, it's not one of my favorites. The matcha flavor in the drink I got, the double matcha, was light but also bitter. The cream however was pretty tasty! The strawberry matcha latte my friend got was also just ok. The flavors didn't really seem to blend well together, maybe the strawberries weren't as sweet/ripe. I'm thinking we mainly didn't like our drinks because we either didn't order what they're most popular for or it was just an off day. I'd be willing to go back to try their creme brulee matcha or mango matcha which both seem intriguing! The peach soft serve ice cream however, I'd definitely go back for! It was so creamy and peachy, 10/10 for that one. In terms of ambiance, it's not exactly a sit down shop and is moreso grab and go. The drinks came out in less than 10 minutes, but they let us know the cheese coin cake took a little longer. The matcha was okay and not too flavorful compared to others that I've had. The cheese coin cake was disappointing to us since there wasn't that much cheese filling and mostly just breading. The price point is just ok, but the overall drink was pretty bland. There were chopped strawberries, but not sweet at all for a 50% sweetness level. I took it home and sprinkled some granulated sugar, just to try if it'll sweeten the drink a bit and it did. The atmosphere was so cute and cozy, and the matcha tasted fantastic.Theres a very nice lil Grinch tree right by a lovely window that outlooks a KFC and EverBank, making a lovely view.
