I saw BB Tea pop up in my search results a while ago. It's so close to me, but somehow I never got around to going until recently. It's not in Taraval or Irving, which are the really popping streets with the L or N muni respectively, so I never had much reason to hit up Noriega. However, when there was a lull at work and I was hitting the afternoon slump, I remembered this spot and decided to stop by for a quick pick-me-up. I ordered a passionfruit green tea with pearls from the in-store kiosk. It was basically ready on-demand. As soon as I went through the prompts on the screens and paid, it was ready. The tea didn't come with any passionfruit seeds or pulp, so I suspect it was just passionfruit flavored. However, it was pretty cheap by SF standards, so you get what you pay for I guess. I had requested 50% sweetness and no ice, and it was just right and well balanced. read more

Came to BB Tea two separate times and both times were great! I ordered a crème brûlée milk tea with boba at 50% sugar the first time and a strawberry milk green tea with boba and lychee jelly at 75% sugar the second time. Both of the drinks were really yummy. There is also 2 specials going on: buy 1 drink and get 2nd drink for $3 (selected drink only, can add toppings) and buy 1 speciality crepe get second speciality crepe for $5. Ordered the drink deal: a creme brulee milk tea, one with boba and red bean, total was $10. Took a couple minutes to make drink. Cute interior design, but unfortunately there's only one table, so definitely a to go place. Creme brûlée (I think it tasted like custard creme) makes a cool swirl, but was stuck to the cup, wished the creme was more incorporated in the drink. Boba was a bit soft. 3.5 stars. After learning of Mont Blanc on my recent Paris vacation, I came back to SF & started randomly seeing the dessert on offer. Why didn't I notice it before? This must be the phenomenon known as frequency illusion. We were having lunch nearby when I peeped BB Tea. I planned on stopping in for a drink, but upon seeing Mont Blanc Chestnut Cake on the menu, all thoughts of milk tea went out the window. Their version has vermicelli-like strands of chestnut purée over ice cream, cheesecake, & whipped cream. An ube version is also available. The cheesecake competes with the flavor of the chestnut & makes the dessert creamy on top of creamy. There was an abundance of fruit in my bf's Strawberry Crepe; the thin pancake cone was freshly made & had a satisfying crinkly exterior. With my Mont Blanc curiosity quelled, I may come back to give their tea drinks a try, but I won't go out of my way for it. read more

I rarely write negative reviews because I genuinely want to support small businesses in my neighborhood, but my experience here today was disappointing enough to warrant feedback. I came in at 3:00 PM today (Saturday). There was only one other customer in the shop ordering a crepe and no visible to-go orders. I ordered a single fruit tea, expecting it to be a quick stop. After waiting over 20 minutes, I finally approached the counter to check on it, only to find the staff had completely forgotten the order. While they apologized and asked me to wait another 5 minutes to make the drink, the delay was entirely avoidable given how quiet the shop was. Beyond the wait, there were some noticeable operational and professional issues: - Staff Dynamics: There were two employees working. The male staff member spent most of the time in the back and occasionally popping out to direct the female staff member to make crepes and handle tasks before retreating to the kitchen area. I had to explicitly prompt him about my missing order before he stepped in to make the drink. - Workplace Professionalism: When checking on the delay, I noticed opened containers of alcohol in the kitchen area. An occasional forgotten order happens, but the combination of a 20-minute wait in an empty shop and a lack of professionalism behind the counter was highly frustrating. I was excited to see that their Creme Brulee Milk Tea is included in this promotion since that is my favorite go-to drink whenever it is an option at boba shops! Service was great; the employee was friendly and kindly allowed me to order the second Creme Brulee Milk Tea in person under the promotion after I ordered my first drink for pick-up on the Fantuan Delivery app. This shop is also Cantonese friendly -- the employee spoke both English and Cantonese. This was one of my favorite creme brulee milk teas! This drink stood out and was one of my favorites because it had cream layered throughout in addition to a creme brulee toping with torched sugar. I often see creme brulee drinks that have either the creme brulee topping with plain milk tea OR only cream layered throughout without a creme brulee topping, so this was a fantastic treat. Decided to stop by after seeing they had the Mont Blanc dessert which seems to be a big Japanese (at least touristy) thing I keep seeing on YouTube. The whipped cream was of the dairy free overly sweet variety. The ice cream I believe was vanilla and was almost gummy (I get it - cheap ice cream = more profit). And the cheesecake bites were frozen solid and didn't taste great once I could finally eat it. Altogether wasn't much better. I ended up just eating the top and tossing the rest. The strawberry matcha wasn't much better. Usually one of my favorites at several other boba places, this one was bitter (not in a good balanced matcha way, in an overpowering way) and strangely sour at times (I'm guessing from the strawberries, but I assumed those were in a sugar syrup). Tried the strawberry crepe from BB Tea's food stand, while attending the Piedmont Food Fest this past Saturday. It was delish! The thin pancake-like texture, filled with cold and creamy vanilla ice cream, topped off with fresh strawberries and sliced bananas... it was a nice little treat on a beautiful afternoon in Piedmont. The service could be a little better. There were five workers in the tent, and a large crowd of people waiting out front. The wait for my order to be ready was about 15-20 minutes... prior to that, I even stood at the order window for a bit before being acknowledged or helped. Beyond the slow service, I felt that these handheld sweet treats were a bit pricey for what you get. But the product was really good, and at least the staff was friendly, so 4 stars seems appropriate. Glad this SF tea and dessert shop could make it out to this event. read more

I think we are in that place and time where I can go anywhere to get this. I just am very confuse to what am I drinking from this place. The service is nonexistent since it's a kiosks I am active with. The only thing that places like this now teaches new generation to not interact with ppl properly. Saying thank you is easy but you will often not get it. Ppl that work in this service for some odd reason now. Their mentality is that they don't need to be nice and do whatever they feel like we need them to survive when it's vice versa. With thousands of choices to choose from. I had been wanting to come here and try their Japanese crepes. We decided to make a little post-lunch stop here, got a couple of drinks and decided to share their creme brulee crepe. You order at the kiosk instead of at the counter. There was a little hiccup regarding the order workflow - the kiosk showed all the crepes were out of stock. At first, we were super disappointed because that's the main reason why we came but luckily, I asked a staff member to confirm they were really out of stock and she said that was a mistake and that they actually had everything on order. She had to click a button on her end to refresh the kiosk and then we started our order over again. My husband got the matcha milk tea - when ordering, the closest option we could find to traditional boba was the popping boba (we checked twice), so he opted for that by default. However, he ended up not being a fan of the popping boba, he would have preferred the regular boba. Perhaps it was just another glitch in their ordering system not allowing for this custom option? I got the jasmine green salted cheese, only 25% sweet, and it was a creamy yet light, refreshing drink. For our crepe, it was a little confusing how to order this as one of the first things it asks us is if we want to add some toppings to it, such as ice cream, which I did. So I chose that option, which added an extra $1 to the order. It was only after ordering everything and paying that I noticed on the menu, the crepe description is written as coming with ice cream. So apparently I paid $1 for an extra scoop of ice cream? Not the case as I didn't get any extra ice cream. Not that I needed the extra scoop but I like to get what I paid for. I had a big lunch with family, then a big dessert with friends. I told myself - no dinner, too full. But then I saw the poster ad of the Creme Brulee Crepe which stopped my walk to the car. I said to son, "I have to get this!" The crepe was soft, filled with custard and sliced strawberries, topped with a burnt candied sugar crust. Came in here on a early afternoon Tuesday since we were early for pick up. I got the crème brûlée and the ube cheese came I believed. The crème was good at the top but towards the middle there was frozen strawberry and a weird old tasting vanilla ice cream. I was only able to eat the top since the crepe itself has a raw flavorless taste to it. As far as the ube, I would get it neither since it has like the old flavorless vanilla ice cream with a tiny bit of cheese cake. Please don't mention the top since I though it was ice cream but it's actually food color dough if that make sense. Pretty expensive for two items that doesn't use fresh ingredients to be honest. Not sure what was going on here the last time I went. There was a ton of middle school(?) aged kids that crowded this place at 2pm and I'm pretty sure it was some daycare/after school program and these kids were acting up. I think there were roughly 15-20 of these kids. Literally spilling drinks and leaving their straw wrappers everywhere. Throwing napkin wads at each other. It was literally a zoo. The people in the back were in no hurry to clean up anything. Not that these misbehaved, sugar rush kids have any reflection on the business--but BB Tea should consider re-implementing how many customers are allowed inside at a time. I could tell the employees were stressed with the excessive amount of blended drink orders coming through. They are absolute saints here for not telling these kids to behave better! On another note, once they were done catering to the kids, they fell short on my drink. I got the creme brulee tea and they forgot the boba I asked for, and the drink had no creme brulee torched sugar like last time. I also asked for no ice and... they gave me ice.
