I've been here before, and have had pleasant experiences in the past. Today's rating is based on service and this rather bland smoothie. Given, I work in the industry and like to give grace to those working, and it seemed decently busy. I'll start out with what was good. We ordered the chicken and waffles and their breakfast sausage tacos. No complaints here. You do have to build your own taco, so if you like being interactive and in control of your own portions that's great! Chicken had a nice seasoning on it as well. Now, what was unpleasant were these very berry smoothies. When I asked our server what was inside them, he circled back and told us: coconut milk, yogurt, strawberries and blueberries. It tasted like watered down milk. Now it's my fault I didn't voice my complaint prior to paying the bill. They costed 9$ a piece. Like most places, servers ask how everything is when something comes out from the kitchen/bar. He didn't ask until our food was out, that a food runner brought out, so that was when I asked the ingredients. The convenience of food runners is nice, but it lacks the personal experience, since they only drop the food off and leave. I wish the service was more proactive during our experience. Our waters ran low. We got them refilled when there was two bites left on my plate. After paying, he asked if I wanted to take the smoothie home. Which I finally had voiced no because of the taste. FANTASTIC BREAKFAST!! Giant cudos to a breakfast spot that offers multiple milk alternatives for my coffee!! This morning I went with coconut and it was divine. My meal was the protein pancakes. I find it to be a happy medium between pancakes and a healthy breakfast like a protein shake. They were YUMMY! They were massive fluffy and had a hint of vanilla and cinnamon. My fiancé had a southwestern omelet that came out looking stunning. Fresh avocado, pulled pork and a sauce that forced me to reach over and snag a bite. Apart from the great food and beverage options the environment is great. The music isn't too loud to have a conversation so this is now added to my list of breakfast spots for business meetings. For a fun breakfast spot it hits all the marks on decor and environment as well. It's bright happy and the staff is sweet attentive and kind. Enjoyed breakfast with my family at this lively spot. We were seated inside and enjoyed some coffee to start - it was excellent. I had the steak and eggs. The steak was flavorful and tender. I asked it to be rare and it came medium. The eggs were scrambled and tasty. The potatoes were small red potatoes that were quartered and they were good as well. I've been going the Squeeze in scottsdale for a couple of years. I knew I wouldn't be disappointed. But I wasn't expecting the unbelievable Tempe Morning Squeeze!! The patio is HUGE! The bar has both inside and patio seating. The inside design and atmosphere is hip and brite and I love the music. The specialty pancakes, waffles and Squeeze french toast are all incredible. Since I'm seated by the kitchen, I learn they ran out of lox. So I'm waiting for the waitress to tell me so I can order something else. Someone else helps me. I decide on the steak frites. She comps my food!!! That was really nice of her:) the steak and eggs were decent. The fries were SO greasy! It's like they cooked the fries and then dumped grease on top of it so i unfortunately couldn't eat all the fries. I liked how clean and airy this place felt. In fact, the whole staff just seems not to care as well as the dismissive 'manager'. Everything tastes homemade from the crispy but soft potatoes, the toast with a preserve that I can't describe, the butter looked it was churned in the back. Went in this morning with family from out of town. Great food always a good price, chose the patio because it's pretty and there's great weather. I really love this place but the server gave me a total and had me sign. I went in realizing she didn't give us the option for a tip and I wanted to make sure she received some sort of compensation. She was really kind and had great service-- but when she printed off a copy of the receipt she had chosen what she thought she deserved for a tip I suppose. It is not like they advertise tips or a minimum gratuity to be added to the bill. While I would have tipped or similarly or rounded up the tab I just find it really dishonest and another boy who was standing there while I was waiting for a copy of the receipt said I could just give him a hundred bucks for them to all split.
