Don't trust the good reviews…read more 2 year old Carrier Heat Pump not cooling on a Townhome bought new 2 years ago. No idea who installing company was. Property manager jumped the gun and called out another company that was not Carrier authorized who diagnosed it as a freon leak from a bad factory solder joint. $770 to repair from non Carrier authorized company. Called Carrier for warranty coverage and they recommended Holley as they are an authorized Carrier dealer/repairer and could diagnose the problem, then contact their Carrier representative for a solution. Holley confirmed the diagnosis of factory defect with bad solder joint causing all freon to leak out. I was told by Holley service tech, they cannot guarantee the repair or assure me that one of the other solder joints will not leak eventually causing the same issue. I also was told by Holley several times that they would not deal with Carrier for a solution as they "did not install the unit" (when it is not an installation issue. It is a manufacturer defect). Estimate to repair from Holley $1660. Somewhere along the line, Holley did speak with their distributor Mingeldorf (sp?) who offered a $500 credit towards labor to repair the unit, but it had to be used within 15 days. I then got to tinking about the difference in repair estimates. I asked for a itemized breakdown from Holley for the repair and was given this: $470 for 5lbs of R401A $1190 for 3 hours of labor, Misc, Materials (acetylene, copper fitting, solder material) Now lets assume the Misc and materials is $100. That equals $1090 for 3 hours of labor or $363/hr. I have asked for their hourly labor rate 4 times and they will not give it to me. The owner is rude and basically said I need to go somewhere else to have it fixed. He stated that I don't want to pay for anything (which is untrue). It is clear to me that they are deceitful in their business practices as I can assure you that $363/hr is not the going rate per hour for HVAC service. I don't want the repair for free, but I also don't want to be lied to and taken advantage of which is what this company is doing.

Instead of replacing the ductwork as agreed, my security camera footage showed the contractor entering the crawl space with only a roll of tape. After the job was supposedly completed, I was told that all of the ducts had been replaced and that the HVAC system was working properly. Based on my own inspection and the evidence I collected, that was not true. When I questioned the work, I was repeatedly told that everything had been replaced. It wasn't until I sent the contractor the security camera footage showing what actually happened that the story changed. Despite the agreed scope of work not being completed, I was asked to pay even more money. I was also threatened with a mechanic's lien for non-payment, even though the work I had paid for had not been performed as agreed. In an effort to resolve the matter without going to court, I even offered to let the contractor keep $200 for the time spent, despite believing the contracted work was not completed. He agreed to refund the remaining balance and told me he would send the money by Friday. Afterward, he changed his position and refused to issue the refund. I have retained security camera footage, screenshots of our conversations, payment records, and other documentation supporting my experience. This review reflects my personal experience. I encourage anyone considering hiring this company to do their own due diligence, request detailed before-and-after photos, and verify that the work they are paying for has actually been completed. I needed a 20 amp dedicated circuit for a home based 15 needle embroidery machine and really didn't want to pay an electrical so got some "advice" and concluded we could put a 20 amp circuit in place of the 15 amp. Three months in, I noticed that my lights were flickering in the home office whenever I fired up the machine or plugged an iron in. I did a quick internet search for possible reasons and quickly determined that I likely had a fire risk so I went to my trusted Yelp to find an electrician. Sure enough my hunch was right. We had Help!! put in a true dedicated 20 amp. No more flickering. While we had him we decided that lightening strikes near the house were too close for comfort and we have way too many electronics and energy electric car plugged in so we had him install a whole house surge protector. Recently the thermostat started turning off automatically, most likely due to low batteries. Due to the way that they installed it, I was unable to get the battery compartment open and was forced to call them to come out and service it. It cost $99 dollars for them to come out, which is annoying but typical, and I was assured on the phone that should be my only expense since all of my equipment is still under warranty. The technician came by this morning, and after examining the equipment he said he thought it was a low battery issue. He then told me that he could see that when they installed the thermostat, they also installed a power line that would eliminate the need to deal with batteries at all, they just never hooked it up (and remember, this is all Doc Savage purchased and installed equipment - the "they" is Doc Savage). NOBODY even told me that was an option when they installed it, or asked me what I would prefer. The technician finished his work and told me it would be $99 for the visit, which I knew, and then $74 for actually fixing the issue. I told him that his office told me over the phone yesterday that all my equipment is still under warranty, to which he replied that he would need to call in and check. He went outside and placed his call, and returned with the line that I opened this review with: "It is under warranty, but my manager still insisted I charge you something." WHAT. THE. F***. He said in an attempt to "meet me halfway", they would bring the extra charge down from $74 to $9. I don't like to take out my frustrations with a company on their rank and file, so I just bit the bullet and paid the extra $9 (for a total of $108), and I hope Doc Savage enjoys it, because it is the last money they will EVER see from me. This entire experience should and could have been avoided in the first place if they had installed the unit properly, and/or asked my preference as to whether I wanted battery or hardwired power, and then to essentially steal from me by admitting that they shouldn't be charging me at all, but the manager insisted??! On the day of service you proceeded to ask if I wanted to purchase a maintenance agreement which included emergency service I agreed. You FAILED to provide the service in that agreed upon agreement. After repeated attempts at "Emergency Service" per your agreement you failed to provide said service! I asked you to cancel that agreement and refund my money and you stated I had already used the bulk of the service agreement and you would only refund $375. Hummmm I contacted my credit card company and after going back and forth with you and me last week they AGREED with me and credited my account $1600 from the TOTAL I PAID IN FULL TO YOU OF $3204.58!
