Stopped in this past Sunday, not long after they opened. We have been wanting to try this place but just never got a chance. What a ton of fun we had! Friendliest staff, all smiles - but the patrons were just as much fun! Treats everyone like family, nobody knows a stranger. Wanted to stay for one beer but ended up staying a few hours. We only tried the meat/cheese platter but it was delicious, and had Guinness, Smithwick's and Harp, all were ice cold and tasty. Some of the regulars started singing Irish songs- loved that! Thursdays are supposed to be very fun with more of the singing- going to try that next. Can't wait to go back! read more

We loved this place! Friendly staff, friendly fellow drinkers. There was a fantastic live band doing Irish songs (with a few hilarious covers thrown in the mix). There were song lists with lyrics on the tables. Great beers on tap (a few local brews too). I loved the giant clock by the door. The atmosphere was home-y and felt very authentic. I am used to run-of-the-mill "Irish" bars that really have nothing Irish other than Guinness on tap. So thank you for making this place so much more special. If I could select a negative number of stars, I would. I went to this bar on St. Patrick's Day thinking, hey, no better place than an Irish Pub to enjoy a Guinness on St. Pat's. Holy crap, was I wrong. We arrived at the bar at about 9:45, they closed at 11 that night. I was with a friend who was visiting me from Arizona, a land where State IDs and Drivers Licenses don't expire for decades. Once a license is received, it doesn't expire until said driver is 60-65 years of age. A very quick google search will provide multiple government affiliated resources. The waitress finally got to us after about 30 minutes, putting us at about 10:20 pm. She told us they were at last call, and proceeded to card us. She looked at my friend's ID, and told her 'no, I can't accept this' merely because my friend, who is 27, looks under 40 years old and that employee hadn't seen an Arizona license before. My friend offered up her passport as a second form of ID, because this does occasionally happen. However, the waitress refused the second form of ID, refused to check my Drivers License, and proceeded to kick us out of the bar very aggressively, yelling at us that we needed to leave, and that my friend 'looks 15 and I don't believe you for a second that your ID is real. I wasn't f--ing born yesterday. GET OUT.' I highly DO NOT recommend, at least not if you want polite, respectful, or even decent customer service. read more

In town for business and had the bangers and mash and it was delicious. Service was quick and attentive and the selection of beer was pretty good. Will definitely return and would highly recommend the food for anyone looking for traditional Irish food. read more

I love this place. You won't find a nicer group of people. The food is made with ingredients imported from Ireland, seems authentic and is very good. The staff is friendly and very accommodating for all group sizes. The live Irish music is fun, even more so when the patrons join in. Great service in a small Irish Pub! Irish music. Great selection of beers & whiskeys. Food menu is authentic and tasty!! Not pricey.

Bartenders have no idea how to properly pour a Guinness or do half & halfs. If you're going to call yourself an Irish pub then you should be able to handle basic things like that. read more

Finally! A legit Irish pub that also happens to book my friends as music artists. Our go-to pub was always Castletown Geoghegan in Belleville, but since their closing, we haven't found another REAL pub on this side of the river since. THANK GOD, we finally got to Morrison's. The bartenders are the best. I love how they get into the music with everyone else (and we maybe stood on chairs once without getting in trouble!) The former Irish Xiles and now Mila Raye Duffy became family many years ago, and I'm so thrilled to be able to see her and see her play again. It's part of who we are, and you immediately feel a part of Morrison's just by stepping inside. It's crowded and small and freaking PERFECT. 55 Whiskys available and a great tap selection. Love the pear Magners. That whisky sour slush was so good on the observed Paddy's Saturday this year. Drinks are reasonable too. The menu looks fantastic, and we asked if a couple wanted to sit at our bank of tables because they wanted to eat. Their stew and bangers w/mash looked SO good. We will definitely have to try the menu. It's amazing to find a pub that feels like home. Keep doing all the amazing things, guys. We are absolutely fans. read more

Great Irish pub. Authentic Irish folk singer which was fabulous, service is great and the food was delicious. We had the Bubbles and squeak stew, it was to die for and the bangers and mash was awesome. Atmosphere is great, we will be back again very soon. Friday and Saturday nights they have live music on the stage, we will go back for that. read more

My wife and I decided to drop by and try Morrison's Irish Pub after reading about its opening in the local newspaper. The décor is charming and everything Irish. We seated ourselves and took in the ambiance. The main ambiance that cancelled out everything else was the huge din that never quieted down the entire time we were there. We were barely able to communicate with each other. The loud environment, unfortunately, was just the beginning. Once our server provided us with menus, we decided to try the Irish soda bread and butter while deciding what we wanted to order for our main meals. When I saw that the price for this bread was $4.95, I had assumed that we would be receiving a typical large piece that we would carve from. Instead, we received four (4) small & ultra-thinly sliced pieces that lasted about 3 minutes and left us wanting for more. Not money well spent. We both ordered iced teas ($2.00 each) with lemons for our drinks. They arrived in a reasonable amount of time, even though one overworked server was attempting to serve the entire restaurant during a very busy lunch rush. To our great disappointment, the iced tea was INSTANT and tasted bitter and artificial. Since there is absolutely NOTHING on the tables, we had to ask for sugar and sweetener. We were told that they had neither! Our server brought out a little round plastic container with some sugar poured into it from the kitchen. The ice was scant and we had to ask for more. Skip the "iced tea" at this place! My wife ordered the Irish Wrap ($8.95) and I ordered the Cottage Pie ($12.95). The wrap really isn't a wrap at all, but a potato pancake with toppings. She said it was tasty, but not $8.95 tasty. The Cottage Pie was not pie or anything solid at all other than the vegetables in it. I was provided a fork, but had to ask for a spoon, since this was much closer to soup than pie. It was very tasty, a bit over salted and had a considerable amount of good ground beef. Once again tasty, but not $12.95 tasty. We wish this new establishment well and understand there are many wrinkles to iron out when a new restaurant is opened. However, we have some helpful (hopefully) suggestions: 1. Do SOMETHING to mitigate the noise levels. Sound panels, soundproofing, SOMETHING. 2. Put condiments and napkins on the tables. It is ridiculous to have to ask for this stuff. 3. Never, never, never ever serve INSTANT iced tea without warning. It is disgusting. Also, there is no excuse for not having sugar and sweeteners available. You are a restaurant!! 4. $5.00 for 4 extremely thin pieces of bread with butter....seriously? 5. Do a much better job describing your menu items. Level up expectations with reality. Soup/Pie, Wrap/Pancake. When patrons order, explain to them what they will be receiving. Perception is reality. After taxes and tip, we left still a tad bit hungry and $39 lighter in our wallet. We were afraid to find out what the portion sizes were for the $5.00 desserts. This was a lunch stop with no alcohol and no desserts. Morrison's is a great concept and has loads of possibilities, but it needs loads of work. We would be willing to give it another try, but probably not any time soon. read more

Morrisons is a cant miss when in Alton or driving the river road. Very friendly staff, we were greated at the door and the Irish experience began. Large selection of beer, tap and bottle. The food is delicious! The menu had everything Irish and was full of flavor. The Cottage pie was a treat, very tasty and hearty. We also had the Bangers and mash which was a delight. We finished the meal with Irish coffee and the whiskey glaze bread pudding. The bread pudding came warm and full of flavor. Very comfortable and cozy experience, can't wait to go back read more
