Went to Morrissey's recently with some friends for dinner and the restaurant lives up to the hype! Our food was delightful, the ambiance was perfect and the drinks were on point. The star of the night was our server LaShauna! If you are lucky enough to have her as your server you will understand why she stole the show. The food was very good. A bit overpriced if I'm being honest, but still delicious! I really like the pizza I got and my husband got the smash burger and liked it (not pictured). We also split the pate which I've never had before but was so good. It reminded me a bit of Thanksgiving on a plate. There was live music which was so nice and added to our dinner! How do you screw up a smash burger? You press down until it's crispy. The burger served to me wasn't smashed. I drove from New York City straight to Saratoga Springs. I parked across the street from Morrissey's, the place seems jumping for a Thursday night. I thought it was a good sign so I made my way to the middle table. Once inside I was given a menu but all I want is a good ol American burger. The menu highlights the Dry-Aged Smash Burger. Two smashed patties on a brioche bun, lettuce, tomato and American cheese. Merica! The food comes out in record time. Is that a good thing? The fries? Limp and cold The meat patties? You know it's a smashburger, the chef could have leaned on it more to get it crispy. Went here for the wednesday night special, mussels and fries with a drink for $25! It also apparently has a sushi special that night. Only when there isn't any track season to speak of, which means that its a nice small space to people watch. The beer selections are okay, but the wine selections that come with the Wednesday night special are quite enough for the mussels special. The mussels were served on a salad with an overpoached egg, but also with asparagus, watercress and pickled onions. The fries were truffle fries and needed an aioli or mayo served with them instead of ketchup which is my only detractor. read more

My daughter was in charge of meal plans/reservations while we were in Saratoga Springs. Morrissey's came highly recommended, so she booked a reservation for all of us to eat lunch there. Cute little restaurant inside the Adelphi Hotel with nice covered outdoor dining area, as well. Interesting eclectic menu, offering a wide array of choices. My husband and I shared a Caesar salad and the Pesty Pesto Flatbread, which had sausage, mushrooms, red onion, fresh mozzarella curd, tangy tomato & pesto sauces on what appeared to be homemade dough. It was delicious, and we were both secretly wishing we could have more. The Caesar salad was split for us, but quite honestly, seeing it split apart, it was rather small and lost on the plate. Also, as with most restaurants, we needed more dressing because what they gave didn't offer any appreciable flavor. Once we got more dressing, it tasted fine. Just wish they had given us more. We enjoyed what we got. My daughter and son-in-law ordered a grilled chicken sandwich and something else. I don't remember what their other order was, and I never got a picture of it either. I do remember that they really liked what they got, though. My 4-year old grandson had chicken fingers, and my 1-year old granddaughter ate portions of whatever my daughter and son-in-law had ordered. So disappointed. We stop in several times a year while in Saratoga. The last few visits the service has been iffy. Tonight it was deplorable. Hostess was pleasant, we just wanted to pop into the bar for a good glass of wine and a quick bite. After ten minutes without a staff member acknowledging us we left. The bar was not busy. I do not expect immediate service ever, I do however expect to be acknowledge especially when the bartender made eye contact with my husband several times while just standing behind the bar. We were in town this weekend to go to the races and my husband was nice enough to make a dinner reservation for us at this place on Sunday. We sat on their outdoor patio and enjoyed the casual ambiance. The menu offers plenty of appetizers, salads, pizzas, sushi, and entrees. After sitting outside at the track all afternoon we really wanted something cool. We started with the hummus board and it was delicious. We then had the mango salmon roll and the Volcano Roll. Morissey's food is delicious. The menu is creative. The drink menu is a bit lacking for me. There was no "wow" drinks on the menu. I enjoy a nice herbal gin drink. Everything was a sweet option. Our waitress was amazing with a wonderful sense of humor. The inside of the restaurant is choppy. We had a nice intimate room with a non-heated gas fireplace. Went here for Father's Day on 6/21/26 and although the food was pretty decent, the service was absolutely terrible. I've had this experience before here with bad service, but that was about a year ago, so I figured I'd give it another shot. We had a reservation for 4 at 12:30 on the patio. 2 of us had arrived and sat down while waiting for the other 2 to arrive. We had been sitting there with place settings and empty glasses for about 15 minutes with nobody to even come over and acknowledge that we were even there. I saw the table next to us was also waiting on other people to arrive in their party but they had water and drinks already, so clearly their server had stopped at their table to serve them water and get them drinks while they were waiting. After about a 20 min wait with no server in sight, I finally flagged someone down to ask if they could send our server over so we could at least get some water while we were waiting. Even after doing that, it still took our waitress about 10 mins to come over. When she finally did, I apologized but said I just wanted to at least get some water while we waited. She served the water and swiftly left....did not offer to get us any other drinks or appetizers while we were waiting. After the other 2 people in our party arrived, we still never saw our server. I, again had to flag down another server to see if she could send our server over as our other 2 guests had arrived so we wanted to see if we could at least order some drinks. And, once again, it took our server a good 10 mins to finally get back to our table. After she finally surfaced, I had told everyone to be ready to order as this server was so hard to come by, so we were not going to send her away. After ordering, our food arrived via food runner....at that time, we asked the food runner if we could get refills of our coffees, to which he replied "Sure, no problem," but he was never to be seen again, and no coffee refills ever arrived. After we had our food, there was no check in from our server to make sure we had everything or to see if we needed anything. My nephew ordered a pizza and wanted some parmesan cheese for the top, but by the time our waitress came back over, he was down to his last piece of pizza, so it wasn't even worth asking at that point. I assume she noticed that all of our drinks were empty, but she never offered us any refills, we had to specifically ask her if we could get more coffee and iced tea. Our waitress had been making other rounds at the tables near ours, but would not ever stop to check in with us....I'm not sure why, but this was very frustrating, especially since I previously had a similar experience with bad service at this same restaurant. I could see the other servers working on the patio and they seemed to all be checking in with their tables frequently, it just seemed to be OUR server! At one point when she finally came to our table, she looked like she was ready to cry. It's unfortunate because we were looking forward to this brunch as it was a special occasion for my dad and the terrible service completely overshadowed everything else. I think this server may need to be re-trained on proper service, especially in a higher end restaurant....otherwise, you guys may want to consider making her a hostess instead because a lot of this was just serving 101 that she was clearly oblivious to! read more

Booked a table for four for NYE (also our wedding anniversary). Was excited for fun ambiance and food. We were placed at a table in the lobby right by the entryway, on top of a wedding reception for the first 45 minutes. The door was opening and closing all night, constant foot traffic right on top of us, letting cold air hit us every few minutes. To add to the poor location (technically not even in the restaurant), we were sat next to a table with two dogs , not our preference at a restaurant.. This place had dogs in and out all night. The staff was vacuuming and mopping the floor around us during dinner (as we were in the lobby). The prosecco we were served were completely under poured, less than a third full. So sadly, a big disappointment. We did ask for another table, and did politely provide feedback on our experience on the way out (for what you have to pay for the food, all of the above was poor customer service). We stopped for a cocktail at the bar, and i ordered an expresso martini. I asked the bartender. Rachel , to hold the simple syrup and i would like mine less sweet. I watched her make it, and the concoction came from a premixed bottle. when it was served, it tasted of sweet coffee mix, and no vodka. My friend called over Rachel and said this, and asked her to kindly 'waive the vodka bottle over the glass to improve the taste. She simply added more of the pre-mixed concoction. i asked what it was and was told that it makes it easier to make when its pre-mixed. I can tell you there is very little vodka in this vodka martini! But the kicker - they added $5 to the price making it a $20 drink. I'll never go there again. read more

Finally made our way to the Adelphi Hotel were we met a friend here for a drink prior to going to dinner. This is a very comfortable place to sit and relax with a drink in your hands. The folks behind the counter were extremely cordial made us feel welcome at the bar. Non-glamorous drinks, just a few glasses of wine but what I will say is that the wine they gave us was terrific. My wife had a Sauvignon Blanc while I had a Pinot Noir. They were both delicious and served at a great temperature. This is important to us as we find so so many places that keep their wine in refrigerators and you get a glass of wine that tastes like a glass of ice water. We swung by this place on a bustling Saturday night in-season, when we were next door at Salt & Char. Morrissey's looked like so much fun that we went there on Sunday night. We got there at a very early 5:00 p.m. reservation, and we were the first ones on the patio - by 5:30, the patio was practically full. It's a great spot for people watching, and we were quickly approached by our server, Aiden who was great throughout the meal. We got the hummus board appetizer (amazing bread) and a couple of iced teas and enjoyed a beautiful evening in downtown Saratoga Springs. We followed that up with a couple of sushi rolls which were perfectly prepared & very flavorful. Everything from the welcoming hostesses to the efficient wait staff to the great food all made this a perfect evening. Pricing all in averaged about $45 per person which is quite reasonable for the experience - it can get much more expensive for those who drink cocktails. Overall, I would highly recommend... Saturday in season will be busier, so you may want to go off peak, or plan accordingly for a little extra time. Good service and nice atmosphere with the food being good-but-not-great. The sushi was a bit bland and I'm a little salty that the "crab" was the fake crab (made with fish). The chicken club was also good but didn't stand out even though they had their "famous" thick cut bacon. The lobster dumplings were very good and while a little pricey, it was worth it, especially with the spicy sauce spread on it. Embarrassing. We were a party of 7 for brunch at 10am. In town for a memorial service. The restaurant was not busy at all. The waitress forgot about us - we had to get up twice to ask for coffee refills. It took 65 minutes to get our food served. When it came out half the dishes were cool/warm (been sitting out for a while). Most dishes had something wrong with them - over cooked eggs, burnt bacon, dressing pour on salad when asked for it on the side. Everyone at the table said their meal was so-so at best. We joked we could have gone to Denny's for a better meal. After 2 hours we had to go to the service. What a waste pf time and money. Where was the manager? Where was the waitress? The toured the stunning library and the terrace. It's absolutely gorgeous. Light fixtures were lovely. We sat at the bar and we were greeted immediately. Places out orders and had great conversations with the surrounding people. Our meals were delightful. Our cocktails were we amazing! Their mixologist are very talented. I was in Saratoga for an appointment and I wanted a "treat yo self" type of lunch. It's was around 2pm, so unfortunately options were limited as most the hot spots open at 5. It wasn't that unfortunate though, because treat myself, I certainly did. I need to mention that this place is certainly for elite clientele, and is very pricy. It's not for a casual lunch, you're looking at $60-100 per person if you order like me. I did feel somewhat "out of place", but hey, it's nice to live the high life once in a while. I wanted to start with a cocktail and I took a whiskey cocktail recommendation from the server. It was very good, but significantly under filled. It was a drink I probably could have finished in a couple sips. I understand cocktails are usually small servings but this was smaller than average. I switched to a gin and tonic for my meal, which was standard and a much better fit for me personally. I love oysters, so I had to order some. They told me $3/per so I ordered 4, however they gave me 6, so I assume they were less because they were on the small side. It was the same price so $2/per. The were excellently shucked, great flavor, beautiful juicy deseeded lemons, and a great mignonette. It was a perfect treat. I knew the sushi here was popular, and I had heard they have an excellent sushi chef. The rolls were expensive, so I decided to try the Adelphi Sushi Tower Salad, excellent choice. It had everything I could want, it was full of fresh fish, great sauces, a hint of heat, tons of textures. It was also a perfect treat. Service was good for me. I honestly like to enjoy a lengthy dining experience, it is part of what you are paying for. I wouldn't come in a rush though. I did find that some regulars may have been getting preferred treatment, but that's par for the course for a place like this. I really did enjoy my experience. It was far pricier than I would normally go for, and I wouldn't offer this place up as a place to go with a ton of friends unless they knew the pricing. Updated review- Our server Frank was very attentive and checked up on us throughout our meal tonite. The sushi dishes ordered were fresh and plated beautifully. Additionally the appetizers such as the Korean spicy wings as well as the pork belly were delicious! The steak frites and the burrata salad with shrimp was cooked to perfection and delightful. I had such great expectations that our dinner at Morrissey's in the Adelphi Hotel would be a delightful experience. Sadly, it was not. When it takes 20 minutes for a server to make an initial appearance at your table to take your drink order, things don't look good. Especially when the dining room (where the former Blue Hen was located) was not very busy. And it went downhill from there as it was another 15 minutes before my Dirty Martini arrived. Our appetizers were good: Steak Tartare presented with a quail egg and French breakfast radishes. While tasty, I must admit that the presentation could have been a little more thoughtful. For my entrée, I ordered Mussels in White Wine and Garlic. They arrived cold. Not lukewarm but cold. The waiter offered to take them back and so I let him. When they were returned to me, they were 'warm' and edible. My husband's Cuban panini was devoid of the ham that is an integral part of this sandwich. My husband and I shared the Fondue for dessert. Yet another disappointment. The 'fondue' was not hot as it should be and tasted like someone poured Hershey syrup into the pot. It was very runny which meant that the chocolate did not stick to the bananas and other accompaniments, it just ran off. Fondu, whether cheese or chocolate, should have some substance to it. I should know; I make it often. As mentioned previously, service was poor. We waited a very long time for each of our selections and to get the check. There was no excuse for this as the dining room was not full and our waiter was not the only server there. Our generous tip was not reflective of the caliber of attention we received but rather an expression of support for local restaurants in town. However, during our long weekend stay in Saratoga Springs we made it to Morrissey's three times, so I think it's safe to say we really liked the bar! They did have oysters, shrimp, salmon, so maybe that was the reason for the cost. But, very skimpy on the desserts. Limited options for the omelette station. As for the experience, we were seated in a very dark room, not in the beautiful light filled room even though that room was half empty. The waitress wasn't very attentive with coffee refills. We were there for a prix fix Christmas Eve dinner. $105 per person for 3 courses. We were seated in the hotel lobby area and on a rather cold night kept getting cold air hitting us from the doors being opened to the outside. The menu said one option for an app was bacon wrapped scallops, it was one scallop. When delivered, the server put our apps on the wrong table and then brought them to us. Somehow a supplemental sushi hand roll ordered by my husband either was not put into the kitchen or did not arrive. During the meal, a couple with two obviously not service or emotional support dogs was sat next to us. The dogs got into a fight with another dog walking by. Apparently the NYS health code means nothing. Non service or emotional support dogs are not allowed in doors. I happen to be petrified of dogs after being mauled as a kid- we were not consulted about them. The mains arrived and were fine. But it took more than an hour to get them after our apps. Overall for a $330 bill after tip for two people with no alcohol, this was not ok for a special meal. Hard pass on this next time. read more
