First, let's talk about the vibe of this place. Bright , cheerful, big windows if you choose to eat there, nice neighborhood view. Frank Sinatra playing. I liked this place the second I walked in. The people (I am assuming they were the owners) were friendly and welcoming. I had the It's me...Mario sub. Gotta love the name of this sandwich. Best meatball sandwich I have ever had and I am 78 years old and Italian. Sauce was absolutely perfect. Meatballs were large, tender and delicious! Cheese was excellent. Bread was so fresh. Service was outstanding! Friendly, helpful, sincere, and caring to please you in every way. I loved the rolling pins hanging from the ceiling. I just picked up lunch like an hour ago and it was so delicious I had to come leave a review! The whole experience was lovely, the deli itself is so charming, great music, friendly team, and the sandwich was so good! My biggest gripe with delis is that the bread is sometimes too tough to bite through but this bread was so soft without being soggy. Also the lettuce, onions and tomatoes were cut nice and thin so as not to be overpowering. I can't wait to go back. Please support this lovely establishment! read more

I'm not a trendy guy, nor is my tastes. I'm not big on modern or fusion type things. After all the great Yelp reviews I was compelled. I walked in and thought this wasn't for me... too late the attentive customer service people asked me for an order, I muttered "the Mario" ok, not the real name, I get it. I grabbed and went home.... It was the ABSOLUTE best sandwich I've had, what did it taste like? FRESH!! This place is not the easiest to find but do yourself a favor and hunt it down. The food is absolutely fantastic!!! Just walked out. Stood inside for 5 minutes, nobody was in front to help. A guy was on the phone with someone in back. Sorta sad that you can't be acknowledged. What went well? Everything! Meatballs are homemade, as is the sauce they are cooked in - delicious! Maryann and are welcoming and attentive, make you feel appreciated. OMG! What an awesome place! The only thing missing was the salamis being hung from the ceiling, (although the rolling pins were cute). We visited for the first time Thursday afternoon for lunch. I ordered the "It's a Me, Mario" and the hubs ordered the "Fat Joe". First the bread. Being a New York Italian raised in a Italian home, and going on to become a chef, bread is super important. After all It is the foundation for an awesome sandwich. The bread hit all the high points, Crispy, without being hard, and not too much pulp in the middle. Now, on to the meats. Fresh thinly sliced like it should be. All I can say is Yum!!!! And the pistachio cream was divine. Topped with spicy Arugula made every bit prefect. I was only able to eat half on Thursday, and finished it today for a light dinner. I can honestly say it was as delicious today as on Thursday, if not even a bit better because all the yummy flavors had melded together. The "Fat Joe" was, according to my spouse, outstanding, and he is super picky. He found out he enjoys Italian deli meats a lot! We feel that Villa Park was very lucky when they chose to open the deli. We will be loyal customers forever! read more

Got the It's-a-me, Mario and the Fat Joe...absolutely delicious. Fantastic bread, silky meats, and super fresh cheese - all lovingly prepared by friendly owners. This family owned Italian deli is a new Villa Park gem! The sandwiches are all freshly made with fresh ingredients. They have excellent deserts which change daily. The staff is excellent and all family. Some complain that the hours are never consistent but give them some time this will work itself out. It is definitely worth the wait! read more

This place is Great!!! Not your traditional full blown grease ball Italian deli. This place has more of a cozy boutique feel to it. Very nice clean place. Very comfortable setting. I really liked it. Food was absolutely FANTASTIC! Quality of the bread top notch. The Mario with the pistachio cream was a really nice touch. Takes the sandwich to another level of greatness. Fat Joe was awesome. We also tried both Nana's Meatball which is a must have. It was excellent and the 1st sandwich gone. Nana's Pesto Veggie on Fococcia is also another fan favorite. Will definitely be throwing this place into the rotation next time we want a great sandwich. We were here on a Tuesday for lunch and entire staff was friendly and helpful. I see this place doing very well here. Did not try the pizza squares yet, the stuffed spinach/ricotta looked awesome. Will definitely try that next time. I wish them the best. read more
