Smoked Gouda & Bacon Au Gratin Potatoes

Morton's in Bethesda is always a fantastic experience, and we especially love it when Rebecca is bartending. She's attentive, welcoming, and makes the bar such a great place to be. The food is consistently incredible. The shrimp appetizer is amazing, the salads are fresh and delicious, and I always order the Cajun ribeye -- it's perfectly cooked and pairs so well with the horseradish sauce. The au gratin potatoes have me forever (absolutely unbeatable), and the Brussels sprouts with bacon are so good they're a must-order every time. From the drinks to the food to the service, everything is top-notch. Morton's Bethesda never disappoints and is always worth the visit. Five stars without hesitation.

Stopped by Morton's to take advantage of their special pre-fixe three-course menu and had a really enjoyable experience overall. From the moment we were seated, the service stood out--attentive, professional, and well-paced without ever feeling rushed or overbearing. The menu was a solid offering and a great way to experience Morton's. Each course was well executed, portion sizes were satisfying, and everything came out as expected for a steakhouse of this caliber. A special shout-out to the bar--the bartender absolutely knows how to make a good drink. Well-balanced cocktails, not watered down, and clearly made by someone who understands their craft. That alone elevated the experience. Overall, this was a great visit with excellent service and a great bar program. I'd happily return, especially for drinks and another pre-fixe experience.

I have never dined out on Christmas before but I was happy to have had the opportunity to do so at Morton's. The regular menu was offered so I knew I would find something. Nice, upscale restaurant located in the lower level of the hotel. Staff were great. I had a cowboy ribeye and a huge baked potato. The rub on the steak was very flavorful. The cook I requested on the steak, Medium-rare w/touch of mad cow, was fantastic. Steaks was 18oz and the potato felt like 9oz but was probably much less than that. Overall good time. I look forward to my next visit.

Went for the Fry January special. It did not disappoint. Sat in the bar area, bar tenders are all very knowledgeable and created a good vibe. The food was great, burger sliders and truffle fries plus a glass of Veuve Clicquot. It was fun!

This was my first time at Morton's Steakhouse, and my husband and I went for dinner during Restaurant Week. The experience was fantastic and such a great value. We were warmly greeted and seated right away, and the service was attentive throughout the evening. The meal started with fresh warm bread and butter for the table, which set the tone. For appetizers, we had the lobster bisque and the wagyu meatball--both rich and flavorful. For mains, I chose the salmon and my husband had the lobster ravioli, with sides of mashed potatoes and onion rings. Honestly, everything we tried was exceptional, even the onion rings felt elevated and special. The portion sizes were also generous; we were already pretty full by the time our entrées arrived. We ended the night with desserts: key lime pie and crème brûlée. Both were the perfect finish to an already incredible meal. Overall, Morton's delivered on every front--food, service, and atmosphere. I'd definitely come back, and I'd highly recommend it for anyone looking for a memorable dinner.

Jah was a great server I really appreciate him going above and beyond! The food was amazing, and the manager kept checking in to make sure we were good. If you're in the Bethesda area and want some great food and service, definitely come to Morton's!

This was my first time back at this restaurant in three years. I had high hopes, but was disappointed with the temperature of my food given that the restaurant was practically empty at the time of our 5:30 PM, Tuesday reservation. I expected everything to be served piping hot. Our lobster bisque was barely room temperature. While my steak was cooked to the correct internal temperature, that was served to be warm as well. Luckily, I received the same great service that I am used to at this location. The food was extremely flavorful. We were seated next to the chefs area where we can see being prepared and that was a nice touch. Our server gave us a free crème brûlée dessert as an apology. Overall, I do recommend this restaurant, however, they did have an off night.

Food was average. Staff was friendly. Atmosphere was casual (bar area) A nice spot for happy hour and right next to the Bethesda Metro station.

We really enjoyed the lobster mac and cheese and drinks! The waiter was very hospitable, he took our picture and framed it for us since it was our anniversary. It wasn't too busy despite being inside a hotel.

I took someone here for a birthday dinner and must say I was impressed. The service is what stood out the most. Our server was on top of everything and even sang to the birthday girl with me! They gave her a free dessert with a candle in it (I belive about a $15 value). The food was outstanding as well. I had filet mignon and she got the filet with a lobster tail. They were cooked perfectly and not very seasoned (which is good...I prefer to taste the steak juices instead of tons of pepper). The walls have wine bottles along them and the lighting is very intimate. It really does feel fancy while dining here. Overall I highly recommend trying Morton's, especially for a birthday.

I had some mild expectations when arriving at Barrel & Crow which were quickly met and exceeded. Our party of four enjoyed a truly delightful and delicious meal. From the moment we sat down, our server--Dan--delivered five-star service. He was genuinely friendly, attentive without hovering. His knowledge of the menu and thorough description of the dishes was also notable. Some were his favorites, so he really described them (all) with mucho gusto. It was like we were guests in his home. We basically ended up ordering literally everything he recommended and he was absolutely spot-on. We started with the fried green tomatoes and calamari. Our smorgasbord of entrées included the lamb bolognese (my favorite, though sadly not the one I ordered), a beautifully tender lamb shank, spiced shrimp and grits, and a deeply flavorful andouille and seafood gumbo. Each dish was thoughtful and well prepared, though the shrimp and grits were a bit savorier than I'm accustomed to. Dessert didn't disappoint either. We savored the chocolate torte and also their signature sweet beignets. They were the perfect ending to an already stellar meal.We left behind so many other tempting menu items and looking forward to our next visit.

The service was so so considering the size of the restaurant. There seemed to be plenty of servers but we had to flag them down to order, get coffee refills and get the check. We liked the food. They had an interesting shukshuka that 2 people got and finished every bit. They also got a side of potato "hash" but they were really just diced roasted potatoes. Not worth the $6 price but worked for soaking up the shukshuka gravy. We had one beet salad that was very nice. We ordered the beignets at the end and they were just fair. We would still go back to try other things!

I finally found it after walking back up the street for the second time. What threw me off was that there is an interior street called Bethesda Lane!!! I blame gps for not telling me to turn down this lane because my phone kept saying that I have arrived. But it was worth the walk up and down Bethesda Avenue. I got there before the noon rush and ordered the bibimbap which consisted of bulgogi steak and tofu with spicy kimchi, housemade pickles, bean sprout banchan, and veggies atop crispy rice. Topped with gochujang and a fried egg. It was not too spicy as there was just a dab of gochujang which was enough to give the dish a little kick but not overly spicy. The kimchi was also on the spicy side but again, fine for me. All the ingredients were tasty. I especially loved the tofu mixed in with the steak sauce. My first bite of the tofu actually made me think it was the meat. The rice wasn't "crispy" as described. I think if I hadn't taken it as a to-go order, it may have been prepared in a stone pot therefore giving me that crispy rice. I will need to try a dine-in next time to be sure. The egg was perfectly done.

I've had this review in DRAFT for a while, to allow time for rumination as to the final rating…read more.. On the one hand, there are some very positive aspects to Beth's, situated in downtown about a 10 min walk from the Bethesda Metro Station. Turn off Old Georgetown Road onto Fairmont Ave, and the first thing you encounter is a beautiful outdoor patio for al fresco dining and a large bar. The colors are vibrant with a focus on Southwestern earth tones; very reminiscent of a cafe you'd find in Sedona. It was still on the chilly side when my dinner group gathered, so we opted to sit indoors. There is a small waiting area in the foyer, and then a moderately sized bar, which leads into the main dining room. TBH, the design asthetic of the space is a bit of a "mishmash." Is it supposed to be European inspired? A continuation of the Southwestern motif? It's all a bit odd... We had about eight in the party, so staff pushed together two tables for us. We were greeted promptly and were told that the restaurant could accomodate individual checks, as ordering is done with handheld devices. My other observation about Beth's is, I'm not quite sure what "story," the place is trying to tell. The menu focuses on "Bites," which could be interpreted as "appetizers" and only has four "plates," aka "entrees." Our server mentioned while awaiting our orders that Beth's wants diners to share the "Bites" with a spotlight on their cocktail selections. So is Beth's trying to be a tapas bar then? I opted for the recommended Purple Rain which consists of Gin, lavender, lime; mostly because I LOVE a nice herbal Gin. The distinctive flavor of juniper berries from the gin was present, while the floral notes from the lavendar and citrus of the lime balanced out the drink. I was pleasantly surprised. Food started arriving after about 20 min, and visually the barley risotto was quite appealing. Instead of short or medium grain rice, Beth's uses the ancient cereal grain barley. It is slow cooked in stock to produce that slightly chewy, yet not undercooked mouth feel. USDA choice braised beef short ribs was stewed until fork tender, and the dish was finished off with Parmigiano Reggiano, and butter. For $24, the plate was a good portion size and very tasty. I dunno. I sampled some of the small plates such as the Brussel Sprouts, crunchy ravioli, crispy spring roll...and everything was fine. Not outstanding...not terrible...but just fine. The kitchen seems to be competent, so it would be interesting to see a menu where more main dishes were offered for diners who want a more substantial meal. The other thing I'll note is, due to the extremely high ceilings, the main dining space is a deafening echo chamber. I was hoarse by evening's end, since I was literally yelling over not just the background music, but the other nearby diners. Just keep this in mind that if you're seeking a quiet and cozy spot, either dine outdoors or come early. After some reflection, I settle on 4 stars. Service was good with water glasses constantly refilled, dirty dishes removed, to-go boxes offered, and the ability for separate billing. Price wise, for one alcoholic beverage, and one entree my tab with tax and tip came to a bit over $50. Automatic gratuity was added for the table since we had over 5 people. I appreciate the server informing us so we didn't "double tip."

I finally made it to Beth's and honestly had mixed feelings about the experience. The food was…read moregood enough that I really wanted to love the restaurant overall. The egg rolls were perfectly fried and delicious with the homemade sauce, and the fries were crispy on the outside while still moist inside. Trey was also a great server and definitely one of the highlights of the visit. The restaurant itself is beautiful, especially the outdoor seating area. The patio is bright, inviting, and honestly a much better atmosphere than the inside dining space. Unfortunately, the music inside completely took away from the experience for me. The restaurant has a dark/lounge-style vibe indoors, so the music really matters. Something more universal and upbeat like Motown, 80's pop, or feel-good music would match the space so much better. Instead, the playlist was loud, distracting, and honestly made me ready to eat and leave. I was also surprised that there was no happy hour offered, especially with such a great outdoor setup that seems perfect for after-work drinks and appetizers. Overall, the food and service (thank you Trey) were solid, but the atmosphere inside and lack of happy hour would probably keep me from returning regularly.
