It was my first time going to Morton's and I will definitely be going back! My partner and I went to celebrate our anniversary and they had the table decorated with a happy anniversary card stock & even took a memorable digital photo for us a to keep in a card! Our server Sarah was outstanding, she's a great conversationalist, gave her personal recommendations with great detail as if she was telling a story, very engaging and energetic, gave us updates on the food constantly and was very attentive! A very kind and personable experience I would like to request her when we go back!! They have valet parking as soon as you walk into the building then you walk downstairs to meet with the hostess, everyone there greeted us when we arrived and when we left, and that is the kind of service I enjoy. There were lockers of wine with names on them to show who all the regulars are and a case full of wine close to the kitchen in glass shelving, the style of the place reminds me of early 2K with swirly wallpaper and polka dot chandeliers, I loved all the classy painting on the walls and the booths were nice and comfortable!! I had ordered lobster bisque, absolutely delicious!! Did not last long at all at the table, it was creamy, smooth, flavorful!! I also ordered spicy tuna roll which had a generous amount of sashimi. My main course was the manhattan cut with an enhancement of caymus cabernet butter which Sarah had suggested it was soooooo delicious, paired with broccolini, please when you get the chance to go get exactly that! Finally we ended the night with a complimentary toffee banana pudding topped with vanilla ice cream which was a seasonal dessert for derby and it was massive! I decided to try Morton's Steakhouse for the first time tonight. Overall here is my honest opinion of my visit. 1. The atmosphere was amazing. Very nice décor. The tables I felt were spaced pretty fair and the chairs were comfy. The low dim light made me feel very cozy and the music added a sense of suspense and like a speakeasy. 2. The host was amazing and very kind and professional. Didn't interact very much or ask if I had been here before but that's minor. 3. My server, Makayla, was outstanding. Very kind and knew her menu. She gave me her recommendations and when I asked a few questions, she was quick to answer and provide clear responses. 4. The wine was amazing. Sweet and light on the palate. 5. I ordered the Filet and Lobster with Sour Cream Mashed Potatoes and Corn for sides. The filet was superb. Very juicy and tasteful. I'd honestly put it in my top 5 steaks in Louisville. The lobster tail was juicy but tasted a tad bland. The butter served with it helped. The sour cream mashed potatoes were very bland and after adding some salt, didn't really help. The corn was probably the worst corn side dish I've ever had. It had zero flavor and tasted like it came from a Del Monte can from Kroger. 6. The dessert was a fair taste. It matched perfectly with my dessert wine. I wasn't able to finish it all and took it home. But I'd rate it 8/10 for sure. Oh and it was the Chocolate Lava Carmel Cake with a scoop of ice cream. Now for price: The sides were definitely not worth more than $10. The steak and lobster was 100% worth its value to me. The dessert was $17 and that took me by surprise. Shouldn't be more than $12-13 in my opinion. The wine was also worth its cost. Overall, I will probably visit Morton's again to try something else but this experience didn't wow me as much as I anticipated. read more

We tried the downtown Morton's restaurant again during restaurant week and were blown away (again) by the spectacular service by multiple attentive waitstaff. We especially enjoyed the intimate ambiance of the entire dining experience and of course the fantastic food is always on point. Starter of a classic Caesar salad, entree of filet mignon (added a lobster tail accompaniment) and with shared sides of truffled cream corn and sour cream mashed potatoes, and ending with espresso pot de creme. Relaxed, leisurely dinner with low noise level and comfortable setting were a welcome change. Looking forward to future visits and will be kept in the regular rotation as a sure bet for a terrific evening. read more

We went to Morton's for my dad's birthday because we wanted him to have an experience. My husband and I frequent Mortons and have celebrated anniversaries and birthdays there. I loved that the hostess greeted us and wished him happy birthday. There was some confetti on the table. I was a little disappointed when I didn't see the personalized menu but that quickly went away when I opened the menu and saw a personalized card in each of our menus!!. These personal touches are one of the reasons we chose to have his dinner here. Last time we got a picture. We didn't get one this time. I guess they stopped doing that ( sad face) The food was delicious. It looked so good we forgot to take pictures. My husband and I shared a rack of lamb and the lobster mac and cheese. So what is a vegetarian doing in a steakhouse? They have a tofu option which is vegan and off the menu and probably fits all of the dietary needs that exist. Their sides are pretty good and the mashed potatoes are pillowy and melty. Definitely try them out. The beans are vegetarian as well. Their bar top menu has some snacky stuff which could be an option if you are just going in for a drink. The tofu option comes with a bed of spinach and I only wish they had something neutral like a rice to offset the sweet soy glaze. Overall, I would hope they would change up the vegetarian menu from time to time but I also understand it is a steakhouse. Drinks are yummy. read more

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary at Morton's last weekend. We always enjoy dining at Morton's, and this time was no exception. It was sweet how they put a card and confetti on the table and they offered to take a photo of us and presented it to us in a card. I'm a photographer- I don't have many current photos of us together because I'm always the one taking the photos, so this was a great keepsake. Food: came out fast and was hot. Cajun ribeye was full of flavor and cooked correctly. Filet also cooked correctly but severely lacked any flavor. The filet was tender and a good piece of meat in general but had no flavor punch you normally get from other high end places. Truffles corn was 10/10, scalloped potatoes with bacon and cheese came out piping hot but again, other than being really rich, lacked any flavor. Service: our server was friendly but we kinda felt like we were at a car dealership with the up sell options presented throughout the meal. Not our servers fault but the food came out before our drinks from the nearly empty bar. Drinks were great and probably would have ordered more if it didn't take so long to get the first round. Ambiance: I guess I never realized the restaurant was in the basement of the building. Had kind of a speakeasy feel to the whole place. Given the lack of flavor and taste from the food and with so many great steakhouse options around, I just couldn't give more than 3 stars here. I hate writing this, because Morton's has been our go-to for family celebrations for a decade now, but this weekend's experience probably solidifies that it will be our last. Below is a list of our most recent experiences. 1. Our server leaned over to set down a glass of wine in front of my daughter, unbalanced the tray he was still holding with his other hand and dumped an entire soda down my daughter's back, in her hair, all over her dress. While mistakes do happen, as he pointed out 4 times with "it happens" (pre and post getting her cleaned up), what she never heard from him was an apology. Not once. Just "it happens" multiple times. The manager did apologize, provided her a free dessert, and offered her to bring back her dress for a dry cleaning. 2. 8 of us were dining together. 7 meals were delivered to our table with assurance from our server that the 8th meal was - at most - 5 minutes behind. That 8th meal was delivered long after the other 7 were finished. The steak, ordered medium, was delivered rare. The manager apologized and did comp that meal. When it was brought back to the table, the steak was cooked to medium as ordered, but now the lobster was cold (as were the shared sides that were delivered with the original 7 meals). 3. Two persons ordered sodas. One was delivered, the other one was dumped down my daughter's back, and the replacement for that one didn't come until 30+ minutes later after several requests. A single refill came for one of the sodas after dinner, and dessert were finished, after several requests for one throughout the meal went ignored/forgotten. 4. I asked for my leftovers to be boxed with bread. Was offered a new loaf (as Morton's has done in the past), accepted it, but when my bag was returned it didn't have any bread (not even the partial loaf we had left). I inquired about the missing bread 3 times and was never provided any. 5. My mom had half of her entree and half of a shared side left over to take home. Her and the waiter had conversations about it and he even offered her a new loaf of bread to go with it as well. Her leftovers were never returned. We asked about them as soon as mine came and the waiter said they were still working on hers. Waited 20-30 minutes and asked again and just got a confused look but no real response. Asked a final time and was told by the same waiter that he didn't realize she wanted to take her leftovers home so they were trashed. Remember, they had a conversation about them and the bread as he picked up her plate. He did offer to see if the kitchen would make another meal for her to take home but at this point we were pushing or just past 3 hours - we were the 2nd guests who arrived that night - and now the restaurant was full. No one wanted to wait for them to cook another dish. We don't treat ourselves to fine dining more than a couple of times a year, but when we do, the expectation is we are going to have an amazing experience to accompany incredible food. Unfortunately, the culmination of our experience did not meet expectations. Honestly, we haven't had that bad of service from Texas Roadhouse or Outback. To have all of those experiences from a single meal, from a restaurant where our combined total bill is higher than we spend on groceries for a month, is just unacceptable. I tried to be fair here and note where the restaurant did make gestures to apologize for the mishaps, it was just such a disappointing way to celebrate our parents wedding anniversary, and I wanted people aware. I don't know if it's new management or what, but this is no longer the Morton's we have known and loved for a decade. read more

I was in downtown Louisville this weekend for an event and my friend and I decided to check this place out and I'm so glad I did! The restaurant is in the basement of the building and has a dark, intimate vibe which made for great ambiance. Our waiter was attentive but didn't hover which was perfect. We started with the bacon wrapped scallops and ahi tuna as appetizers. I'm not a huge tuna fan in general but I had a bite of it and it was very fresh tasting. The scallops however were AMAZING! I only wish there were more than 3 of them in a serving--I could have made a meal out of it! For my entree I had the lobster ravioli which was delicious! The sauce was a creamy sauce and the ravioli tasted fresh--the serving size was plenty for me. It was a bit pricey but I would definitely come back for a special occasion. read more

Suggestion: Make a reservation in advance. They make your special occasion noted by putting it on your menu, which is a nice touch. We chose to be seated in the bar area (a more casual feel). Our waiter, Brandon, was efficient and upbeat. You might get the impression he actually likes his job! (unique in these times) We passed on an appetizer and shared a Caesar salad (plenty to share). They give you a roll of bread that is sprinkled with toasted onion and so big that you probably won't be asking for more like you would somewhere else. The steaks, were, amazing. Cooked perfectly to our request and prime cuts. He got the 16 oz ribeye medium, and it had a slight char on it. I took a bite, and my eyes rolled back in my head...lol) I chose the medium rare 8 oz filet and added jumbo shrimp. My steak was also spot on, but I have to admit I liked the ribeye more. However, those shrimp were so delicious. I am glad I chose shrimp instead of lobster because I don't think I could have liked the lobster anymore...yes, it was that good! The sides are ordered separately and serve two or three easily. We got the parmeasan truffle shoestring fries. I thought that were a bit salty, but he didn't. We also ordered the lobster Mac & and cheese, and you didn't have to hunt for the lobster...well represented! We could have shared one side and were stuffed by the end.
