Pros: excellent bone in rib eye, good salad, lobster bisque Service was okay and we were there for a bday celebration so dessert was supposed to be free, however they charged us. Also the smoked old fashion should come with a warning that it is close to $50. 4 ppl and only 1 drink = $400

So good! Decided to have a little Christmas date night that started here at Bobs for dinner. Classy spot / fine dining / top notch service. My boyfriend had the Prime Ribeye and I had the appetizer scallops with a side of asparagus. Both were wonderful and hit the spot. Service was good and timely. We parked on the street near the hotel. Since this was winter and we had coats, the hostess stand took our coats and hung them in their closet as a convenience rather than us taking them to our table. PS - I saw something in a review or two about "no hats" but there was someone across from us wearing a ballcap.

Malaya and I think this might be Bob's little league champion trophy, who knows? LOL

Lovely restaurant with a sports theme. We had a reservation on a Tuesday night while in town for business. We were greeted and seated promptly. We came in from the street so there are steps, but if you come in from the Omni Hotel there are no steps. Bathrooms are near the entrance/hostess and are gender-based. Malaya was our server and she was fantastic - sweet, good sense of humor, and she knows what's up. She was attentive without being intrusive and gave solid recommendations, especially on their homemade desserts. I believe they bake their bread - it was fresh & warm with a crispy outside (which made lots of crumbs) and soft inside - served with a thin slab of butter. It was delicious but messy. There are glass jars on each table with lightly pickled vegetables. Malaya told us that when Bob was a child, the half-sour pickle or sweet pepper would be his snack when he came home from school. We didn't try them but would next time due to the amount of food we ordered. We started with the shrimp appetizer and drinks. All six shrimp were perfectly cooked but the star (to me) was the house-made cocktail sauce with a healthy kick of horseradish - soo good! My salmon dinner was fantastic! I'm not really a potato person, but the skillet potatoes with gravy were outstanding. They were like fat potato chips, still crispy on the outside, flavorful, with a hint of salt. The gravy just kicked them up notch in my book. The giant carrot was tender and the glaze was a nice complement without being overwhelming. Hubby was not happy with his ribeye - he ordered medium rare but received a steak that was quite medium to medium well. Not to waste a good steak, he did eat it rather than send it back, but was disappointed that a steakhouse would overcook a steak (this is the reason for the 4 stars instead of 5). We really wanted dessert but were truly full. We ordered one huge homemade fudgy chocolate cake to go, with forks, which we ate later that night while watching tv. It was more than enough for us and we did not finish it even though we tried lol. When in town again, we would definitely stop back in!

    Quinoa with fricasseed vegetables (vegan)

Sometimes vegans have to visit steakhouses. Like when they are meeting with an important person for work. Or dining with colleagues. Or both. I found myself in such a situation recently, and it was with trepidation that I set foot through the impressive doors of Bob's Steak & Chop House. I needn't have worried. Although the menu itself is limited in regards to plant based options, if one asks, one receives. Once I inquired about the ability to create a vegan entree our server promptly enlisted the assistance of the kitchen. The chef himself visited our table to discuss not only my dietary needs, but also my personal food preferences, stating, "I don't just want to give you vegetables; I want to make something special that you will love." He did. I immensely enjoyed a glorious entree of beautifully seasoned quinoa topped with a variety of expertly prepared vegetables. The house made pickles and bread are also vegan and very delicious. Although I would not choose to visit Bob's on my own, I am now very confident that this is a place anyone can feel welcome and cared-for, regardless of whether they enjoy plants, animals, or even just a really good pickle.

I ate here twice while in Louisville for work, staying at the Omni. The sourdough bread they serve is so good! The first night I had the lamb chops which came with their smashed potatoes and standard glazed carrot. The bartender hooked me up with a strong and tasty margarita. Everything was excellent and Antoinette my server was sweet and attentive. The second night I was dining by myself again so the host stuck me at a table right by the kitchen, along the walkway to get further back, so I was seen by everyone who came in. I asked to move but he said they were booked. I felt stared at and wasn't happy about this. In being there for over an hour, noted several open tables in various more desirable areas so I was not happy about that. I had the mixed greens salad, seared scallops and the shrimp platter with 3 different styles of shrimp. Everything was excellent and Nate my server was great. If they didn't treat me inferior for dining alone, 3 stars would have been 4.

Bob's Steakhouse is located in Omni Hotel. We sat a booth adorned with horse straps and decorative pillows. The ambiance is elegant and it's not overly noisy. Each table starts with red peppers and cucumbers jarred. They're pickled for about five days, so they're still crunchy. There's also bread and butter for the table. For my entree, I ordered a prime filet mignon. Meals are served with a glazed carrot and choice of potato. I chose the smashed. I also ordered a half-size bleu cheese salad. The steak was phenomenal. It was one of the, if not the, best filets I've had in Louisville. The sear was superb. It had a slight crunch to the outside and the inside was perfectly pink. The entire meal was top-notch. The service was stellar. Valet parking is really necessary, but they do validate your parking in the restaurant. If you're looking for a steakhouse, Bob's won't disappoint.

Medium rare filet mignon, their fried potatoes with gravy, and glazed carrot (sorry, phone did not eat first).

Absolutely loved Bob's. I hold every steakhouse standard to my favorite one, Peterson's, on the northside of Indianapolis. This was very close behind, if not tied. They start with bell peppers and pickles in a jar of garlic saltwater brine, so fun and unique, and they gave us bread without having to ask (love). We passed on any apps, since they are mainly seafood and it wasn't the vibe for the evening. My sister and I both got the filet, medium and medium rare. My medium was cooked to perfection (hers was too, she just learned she's actually not a rare fan, because most places overcook it). I got the smashed potatoes, which were yummy and garlicky and a very healthy portion, and my sister got their fried potatoes with gravy (delicious and again, unique). My dad got the shrimp scampi which again, a very healthy portion, and it was delicious. Each entrée comes with the side of "glazed carrot", which I thought was a typo, but it's literally just one big carrot lol- but it was delicious! We got the crème brulee for dessert, which was delicious and creamy!! George was our server and he was wonderfully attentive, very likeable, and checked on us all night! If I ever find myself in Louisville again, I will definitely return!!

We decided to try Bob's for our anniversary this year as we wanted something new. We had heard mixed reviews from friends about Bobs but I'm glad we finally decided to try it for ourselves. We had a reservation and we were seated as soon as we arrived which I appreciated. It's kind of a pet peeve of mine when you have to wait to be seated even though you have a reservation. I know sometimes it's out of the restaurants control but it is preferable if they're able to keep things moving well enough that reservations don't have to wait. The first thing that we noticed when we arrived was how friendly everyone was. The hostess to the server and the food runners were all exceptionally welcoming. The restaurant itself was very pretty and was the perfect setting for a nice date night. It wasn't too loud which was great for conversation. We each started with an appetizer, I had the Crab Cake and my husband had the shrimp cocktail. My crab cake was delicious with huge chunks of lump crab and a nice honey mustard sauce on the side. The shrimp cocktail came with 5 huge shrimp which my husband thoroughly enjoyed. Next we each had salads, Caesar for my Husband and the mixed greens for me. Mine was awesome. It had goat cheese, apples, dried cranberries, spicy candied pecans and a champagne vinaigrette. We both ordered steaks and both were perfectly cooked. I liked the nice hard sear on my filet. I chose the fried potatoes with pepper gravy and my husband chose the mashed potatoes and we both agreed that I made the better choice. The mashed potatoes were fine but the fried were delicious. Both steaks came with their signature glazed carrot and that was to die for. I know it seems odd to some to have a jumbo carrot on the plate but the marinade and glaze on them is fantastic. I really like that the steaks come with both the carrot and a potato option. For dessert we were given a complimentary chocolate peanut butter brownie sundae which was great and a very nice treat for our anniversary. The cocktail I had was also really delicious. We would definitely visit Bob's again for another meal or even just cocktails!

My first time at Bob's was definitely not my last! The steak was perfectly cooked and flavorful. The service and atmosphere top notch. A must go spot for an excellent steak or a romantic dinner.

This steak house is located in the beautiful Omni Hotel. The moment you walk in you know you are in a traditional high end steak house. We were greeted immediately, and the manager made sure we were seated promptly. The wait staff was polite and well trained. The food arrive quickly. Well, we are from California and when a jar of pickles was placed on the table, I wanted to eat it, my wife scolded me to make sue I don't eat the table decor. The waitress assured it is indeed an appetizer, lightly pickled with Bob's family recipe. I ate one and it is absolutely delightful. We ordered the crab cake appetizer, my wife was shocked it's real crab meat and she thought the mustard dressing was delicious. I ordered the ribeye. It is a very special cut of beef with decadent marbling, very rich in flavor. It is a steak lover's dream. And they are not afraid to season the food here and I loved it. I politely declined to try my wife's salad topped with salmon. When the waitress offered desert menu, I had the correct answer yes, for my wife's benefit. We were both in shock when a massive, I mean 2 pounds, slice of cake came to the table. It was moist and delicious but there is no way we can fish this. We are overall extremely satisfied and I would absolutely recommend it. Price wise it is in line with a high end steak house.

The American breakfast had large potato pieces, good sausage, and made to order eggs. Hot coffee was on the better side for hotel coffee. Dinner: they were super accommodating, as we were traveling with a friend with an infant. I called ahead to let them know we would come in with a stroller, and they made sure to sit us in an area where the stroller was not in the way of servers or other guests. Our server was one of the most attentive people I have ever met, and every recommendation they gave was fantastic. We started with the oyster rockefellar and the spicy tuna tartare. The oysters were massive and the tuna dish was so good, we got it a second time later in the weekend. We all got steaks for our mains and added a lobster tail - there was a mix up with the lobster tail taking a bit and they ended up bringing out the largest lobster tail to make up for it. All steaks, their sides, and sauces were fantastic- better than most I have had in the DC area. The food was all rich so under order or share amongst friends. Cocktails were of course fantastic, from espresso martinis to the famous smoked old fashions. We had drinks at the bar another night and the service was just as good, though they did tell us that they didn't serve the drink in a smoke box when we certainly had one just a night before.

They offer valet parking for $14, but street parking was easy to find and just a short walk away. We started with the Caesar salad and the wedge salad. Both were good, although the wedge had a bit too much dressing for my taste. I ordered the filet with mashed potatoes, asparagus, and mushrooms. The filet was excellent, and while I'm not usually a mushroom person, these were truly outstanding. The bread was also some of the best I've ever had. I also ordered one of the mocktails, which I enjoyed because it wasn't overly sweet. The reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is the service. Our waiter was efficient, but he wasn't particularly friendly, and the entire meal felt rushed. Several times, someone tried to clear my plate while I was still eating. We also had to ask for more time more than once before ordering because we felt pressured to make decisions quickly. With a bill of over $300, I expected a more relaxed dining experience where we could enjoy the evening at our own pace.

The oysters were very fresh and spot on, served with horseradish, vinegar, fresh lemon and Tabasco. They weren't fully shucked, so I had to pry them from the shell. My salad never made it to the table. Nick was mortified and offered to make it right with dessert (which I politely declined). The steak was good and was cooked rare, the way I asked. The weird thing was that the rare steak tasted dry - maybe it was the rub, but a rare steak should not taste dry. Almost like it was cooked medium. I told Nick I liked the steak but it might have been the seasoning that made it taste dry. They comped the steak. Outstanding. They earned a star back. Four of us had an excellent experience for our dinner in Louisville, and besides the food, a lot of that experience was due to our server, Julie. She was great, super friendly and professional, and expertly answered a ton of Bourbon-related questions from my Bourbon loving friend. My wife and I dove into the Southern theme and had a Pulled Pork Sandwich ($16), Southern Colada ($16), Fried Green Tomatoes ($10), and a Southern Gumbo ($10) for dinner. I ordered the Fried Gren Tomatoes to share with the table, and they were wonderful - "Five full moon green tomatoes fried in cornmeal and panko, topped with fresh chives and served with Doc's Remoulade". They were light as a feather, most definitely non-greasy and had a great crunch from the panko and cornmeal. My Southern Gumbo (A hearty stew filled with andouille sausage, chicken and vegetables in savory Cajun broth served over rice. Served with cornbread) was excellent. Great flavor, great spice, plenty of sausage and chicken, and excellent accompaniments in the rice and cornbread. And how could I not mention my Southern Colada, with Michter's US*1 Sour Mash, Pineapple Juice & Coconut. It was quite a bit stronger than any Colada I ever had, but I guess that can be expected when you use an 86-proof small batch Kentucky whiskey in your Colada. Of course, I loved it. This was our second visit to Doc Crow. We were there a few days ago as the first stop on our Louisville food tour and enjoyed a delicious bowl of shrimp and grits. The Doc sure treated us well. It's on the pricier side but if you come hungry, I'd say it's well worth it for the amount you can eat and the quality. You begin with the AYCE salad bar, which has a wide range of olives, cheeses, salad toppings, smoked salmon, and even a delightful cold apple salad and potato salad. When we were seated, hot dishes came quickly. I loved all the sides - fried polenta, fried banana, mashed potatoes and cheese bread. You could request a few additional side items complimentary. I tried the fried yucca and was glad I did. Now, the MEAT! Once you turn your card to green, be ready! There was a constant flow of Gaucho chefs with the different varieties of meat. They were very attentive asking preference on cuts. When I was getting full, I wanted just one last piece of picanha. Not one, not two, but three Gaucho chefs stopped by within approximately one minute asking if there was a particular cut I would like while the first chef had gone back to the kitchen. The service was incredible.

Salad area - very clean, well stocked with plenty of choices- lettice, mixed greens, veggies, cheese and dressings. Caesar dressing is my favorite- pepper in flavor and not too much anchovy paste- which is great. Freah mozzarella balls were delicious- cold, pull apart and full of great textured bites. Steaks were under seasoned and required salt to enhance the flavors. Favorite was bacon wrapped filet- most was overcooked but on ocxasion I got to snag a medium cooked bite. Chicken- my favorite, asked a few times - took an hour to get chicken breast- which was moist and had hints of garlic and parmesan. Only was able to get 2 pieces- which was a disappointment. Cinnamon grilled pineapple- such a great addtion- full of cinnaomon and citrus in every bite and was a great palate cleanser.

We waited 30 minutes past our 9:15 reservation to be seated because we were told the previous reservation would not leave. We had to ask the hostess twice before our table was ready. Once seated, we felt rushed to order. The salatim wasn't replenished until we had nearly finished our entrées. When we asked for more pita with our mains after receiving side orders of hummus, we were asked how many individual pieces we wanted. None of us received the rice that comes with our mains, and when we asked our server just agreed but it was never brought out. My fries were also forgotten and by the time I asked I was told the kitchen had already closed so I couldn't get them. They kindly removed the fries from my bill and gave me a complimentary dessert. Our empty glasses also remained on the table for the entirety of the dinner. At the end of the meal, we all requested separate checks, but three of them were incorrect and had to be fixed. As we were leaving, we could hear the employees cheering because we had left. We greatly appreciated the discount our group received. The food was excellent, but for such an exclusive restaurant we expected a better dining experience.

Unforgettable meal. We may go back to Louisville just to eat here again, and we live in California…read more Everything we had - embered beets, tomatoes and stone fruit, chicken thighs, salmon, and babka - was simply sublime. And the basic dishes were the most surprising. We can't stop thinking about the tomatoes and stone fruit - how can a few ingredients we eat so often have such complexity and taste beyond any prior experience? It's infuriating. Also the rice - of the hundreds of rices we've had this is by far the best. Rice! Service was exceptional as well. Our servers Celeste and Ollie (Ali?) were knowledgeable, welcoming, and efficient. Hostess Isabelle was our hero. We were in Louisville only for 12hrs so did not have a reservation but nicely begged her and she was eventually able to fit us in late on a Sunday. We are not Tom Colicchio and Padma Lakshmi, but we've had many phenomenal meals throughout the world and this one is going to be memorable. If anyone at MeeshMeesh wants to start a restaurant in Sacramento, please give me a call.

There were many seats at the bar as well as couch and chair areas. They also have bathrooms down there. Service was outstanding. We had a bourbon flight and some cocktails. Our server even took group pics for us. He also provided menus so we could be prepared for dinner. When our table was ready, we reconciled our check and headed back upstairs. Upstairs, we had amazing service also. I ordered a cocktail that they had on the downstairs menu, and not the regular menu. It did not faze our server. He said he would figure it out- and he did! After a round of drinks, we stayed with appetizers: meatballs, fritto misto, piatto di frutti di mare and the crab cake. Everything was devoured. I loved the crab cake and the meatballs. The fried calamari was pretty standard and the cold seafood platter was fine- I had an oyster off of it. For dinner, I had the "Pappardelle" : short rib ragu alla bolognese, grano padano, and added two seared scallops. Wow. The pasta is homemade. It was phenomenal. My husband had the "Maiale" : 16oz pork chop, cauliflower puree, chard, stone fruit, bourbon glaze. It was a large portion and cooked perfectly. So good. Our friends had steaks and sides, so I was able to try the Mac and cheese- which did not get congealed! The corn was delicious and the mushrooms were a variety. Of course we had dessert. I asked for cannoli and they had it! They weee not soggy. I had three different favors. I love cannoli. These were really good. We also shared the millionaire's tart and some sort of apple crumble with ice cream. Yum. We had more round of drinks throughout including some fun ones - see the treasure chest video. I would recommend this place. They have a great menu. Drinks were awesome. Service topped everything. They went out of their way for us multiple times. Thanks so much. We can't wait to come back again.

My hubby and I have an ongoing, unspoken competition: who can find the best steak in Louisville?…read moreThe one spot we always wanted to try closed a few years back, so every new place now has some pretty high expectations to meet -- from meal quality to overall experience to value. Hubby took me to one of the oldest steakhouses in town last fall, and even with three adults, the bill was noticeably lower than what we spent at this establishment. Service here gets a solid 5 stars -- everyone was attentive and personable. Ambience earns a strong 4 stars with a nice vibe that fits the area. The menu itself is intriguing, and every dish we ordered came out at the right temperature and well‑executed. Overall flavor was good. The desserts, however, didn't quite match the caliber we hoped for -- though to be fair, we're not professional food critics, so take that for what it's worth. Not sure yet if we'd return. If we did, it'd probably be with a larger group so we could share the dishes we enjoyed and make the price point feel a little more balanced. That said, the location is perfect for out‑of‑towners staying at the nearby hotels and those hitting the area's higher‑end entertainment spots.

We were leaving for the second leg of our trip and were running late, as usual. We decided to run across the street for a sit down lunch, what's another hour? Two smiling faces greeted us at the door. They offered a high top but my hip was absolutely not digging it nor a table up the flight of steep stairs. Once seated, we were greeted promptly and had water in front of us almost immediately. We each ordered soup and then a sandwich to share. I had the Sopa de Pollo . A hot bowl thick with thin noodles and lots of chunks of chicken. The chunks were too big to eat without being cut up which was a challenge in a bowl of broth. It was so hot that I had to wait a while to try it and even then had to blow on it. It was delicious. Unless the soup is your meal, order a cup. I still took nearly a pint of soup back with me. My husband ordered the Frijole Negro - a huge bowl of black beans that was served with a large pile of raw onions on top. Like the chicken soup, it was burn your mouth hot and a very large serving. He said it was good but he'd not order it again. Moving on to the sandwich. We had the Cubano. I'm not even going to describe it - just trust me - order the Cubano. Do not look at the rest of the menu - order the Cubano. Don't even bother looking at the ingredients, just order the Cubano. Have you ordered it yet? Do it already. The Cubano is huge. We split one half and had the other when we arrived at our next stop. Do consider that we had soup first; otherwise, we'd have eaten the whole thing. The accompanying plantain chips were worthy of their own review. They were wonderful. Who knows if and when we'll be back to Louisville but when we are, La Bodeguita will be the first place we stop. BTW, have you ordered the Cubano yet? What are you waiting for? Put your phone done and order it! Enjoy!!
