Mo's Sweet Minis is located right on Broad St next to Dunkin. Every time I go in here, it is empty, not sure why because the cupcakes are delicious. My favorite is the red velvet. A cute bakery that- I think- changes their cupcakes and cookies flavor from time to time. I was lucky to try their mocha shortbread cookie-which was sold out- and red velvet cupcake. I like this place because the sweetness is not overwhelming. It is just right amount of sweetness. The owner was very nice and generous too. She gave us the mocha shortbread to try. I love when I stumble across little pieces of heaven! I was literally just going to grab some coffee and saw this shop. I went in because it carried the name of my daughter "Mo". (Corny, I know) But I loved everything in this place. It's such a cute place and the desserts are Devine! I love the variety of cupcakes, cookies and macaroons! Yes! I said Macaroons!!! I love that they have mini cupcakes as well as regular sized ones! I have read reviews and have wanted to visit this place for a while, and I'm so glad I finally did. Very cute and small bakery with a clean and friendly environment. As I walked in, I was greeted by a sweet lady (who I presume to be Mo) as well as the great display of cupcakes. Prices were clearly posted on the wall and the owner was very patient with me. I ended up getting a dozen mini cupcakes. I tried the carrot cake mini cupcake, and it was very delicious and moist - which is great because of is size! Had a Groupon for a dozen macaroons so I finally went I there today before it expired. I went in around 3 and almost all the macaroons were gone so I thought maybe that's actually a good sign. I sat in the car and took a bite of one - hard as a rock!! I've never had a macaroon that crumbled into pieces everywhere. The shop is very quaint located in the heart of VCU's campus. The employees are very nice and and helpful. Their cupcakes and cakes are actually very good. However, after a day or so they become very dry. So why the two star rating? After trying the place a few times for cupcakes and cookies I thought I would order a specialty cake. I'm not 100% sure however, I do not think the specialty cakes are not made in the shop. When I was ordering my cake the person taking the order, who I assumed was the owner, kept referring to "the baker." Here in lies the problem. Apparently, "the baker" has creative freedom when it comes to the cake you order. This freedom allows the baker to completely change the order that you've made without your consent. I ordered a pretty simple cake and was very clear about what I wanted. I spoke with the owner at length about what I wanted and what I absolutely did not want. When I picked the cake up, it was not what we discussed even though my specifications were on the order slip which was attached to the cake box. The owner kept referring to "the baker" decided to or "the baker" has creative freedom. Bottom line, what I wanted didn't matter, the baker decided to change what I asked for even I though I showed pictures and everything so it was clearly know what I want. The situation was resolved after I was given a dozen mini cupcakes, but I did not leave very happy. Needless to say, I will not return for a specialty cake. My advise if you get a specialty cake there is to tell whoever, this is EXACTLY what I want, if you want to make a change you MUST call me first or don't get one at all. read more

I'm going to start off by saying that I am a cupcake connoisseur and I'm usually excited when I find a new cupcakery. I decided to try this shop in particular because of their groupon offer. I decided to stop in during lunch to bring cupcakes to the office for a cupcake tasting just as we've done in the past with doughnuts and other delectable goods. We were all disgusted with the cupcakes. They were very appealing to the eye but our tastebuds were not fond of the flavors of an old refrigerator. The cupcakes were not fresh and taste as if they were in a fridge without baking soda (yuck!). I just want to share my gratitude! I ordered mini cupcakes through Uber Eats and I knew I was cutting it close to their closing time AND it's Valentine's Day Weekend! Luckily, my order did go through and to my surprise, when the cupcakes arrived, it was in a much bigger box than I anticipated since I'd only ordered minis. There was a note attached to the box that said "Sorry, we were sold out of minis" and it had a smiley face. I opened up the box and they were the full sized cupcakes! Thank you for being so kind with that wonderful gesture and awesome customer service! That really made my evening! This is my first time ordering and the strawberry cupcake is divine! Recently I had a birthday to celebrate and was in need of cupcakes. One of my coworker's suggested Mo's as he had hard great things. Immediately I went to their website to see what they offered. I like how there are vegan options. I called to inquire about an order and was told that vegan options need to be orders at least 24 hours in advance. So I ordered the red velvet, carrot cake and let Mo's select the rest including a vegan option. The order was to be ready at 11am the next day. Sure enough it was ready on time. Once we opened the cupcakes boxes we agreed that the presentation was great. They were so beautiful. The taste did not disappoint as well. I'm not the biggest fan of super sweet desserts and these were right up my alley. I only wish they had a better labeling method of the cupcakes as it was hard to decipher what each cupcake was. read more

Yum! Ordered a single red velvet cupcake (full size) and half dozen assorted macaroons on DoorDash. Worth it! Fresh, moist, chewy deliciousness! Packaged with care and arrived as described. I had a big sweet tooth that day and ordered a cookies and cream cupcake, banana pudding cupcake, banana pudding and vanilla cupcake and another with chocolate. I ended up throwing it all away. The banana pudding was gross and lacked any banana flavor. It did not taste like banana pudding at all. I'm not sure if the custard was instant but it just was not good and I love banana pudding. I tried the banana pudding cupcake hoping it would be better and sadly it wasn't. I tasted a really hard vanilla wafer on top of a cupcake that had absolutely no banana pudding flavor in the frosting or banana anything to it. Next, I tried the other cupcakes. They all lacked flavor and were really hard and crunchy upon my first bites which told me they were possibly frozen or burnt or both. The tops of the cupcakes were like hard rocks. I've never had anything like that before. Thankfully, I tried these before I ate my lunch. I had to get the taste of what I experienced out of my mouth because it was that bad and I was in serious disbelief that I wasted all of that money and it all tasted bad. I was hoping to like this place but can see why it's not busy or packed with students who I would assume would have the munchies all the time. If I could rate this lower, I would. I went in today with a $10 bill to pay for my cupcakes & the lady told me that she couldn't except it because it didn't look like the dollar bills she had in her register. It was an older looking 10 dollar bill and I'd previously received it as change from the grocery store. I googled the bill and it showed every bit of proof the bill was real, but she insisted they didn't look like the one's in the register so I couldn't buy the cupcakes. I couldn't imagine running a business and not knowing how cash circulates, that's how businesses go under. Why would someone counterfeit a 10 dollar bill? With common sense, what would that do for you, why not bring in a counterfeit 20 or 100? I'll never get cupcakes from here again read more

I am a connoisseur of sweets and I love to bake so I've tried a lot of cupcakes in my lifetime. When I walked in the girl working there was really friendly and nice. The cupcakes were decorated very cutely as well. But then I took a bite of my cupcake. The only really memorable thing about it was that I wished I had either spent my money elsewhere or saved myself the calories. Fun flavors of mini cupcakes that won't make you feel guilty! Although, you can also get full size cupcakes, cookies, and a few other neat items like whoopie pies, homemade oreos and cake pops. I had a rasberry lemonade mini. The rasberry flavored cake was dense, yet spongy--definitely not dry (which I hate). The top was a little crunchy though--which I happened to like in fact! My boyfriend and I took a road trip to Virginia and stopped for sweets here. I like everything about Mo's except the location. I know business is about location, location but it is in the busy VCU area of Broad Street and parking can be crzy. But, back to their product...yum cupcakes, yum cookies, especially the oatmeal raisin pies...mmm. All of their items are rich in flavor and high in moistness which leaves an appetite for a tall glass of milk to go along with them. When you want a goooodd cupcake..take it to MO's. Yesterday I purchased 24 assorted mini cupcakes for an office birthday today. When I arrived yesterday to the store, the woman working was helpful and packed up a nice assortment of their minis. She advised be the best way to keep them fresh and to be careful taking them home. These were a hit today at work. Everyone enjoyed them. I tried like 4 of the flavors and they were all delicious!
