I don't know if they use actual chai tea or a mix but they could make it a little better. The matcha tea was my any entree I was told by my companions. I think Starbucks a couple of doors down makes a better chai latte so I'd probably go there than here if I'm in the area and wanting a chai latte. read more

This coffee shop is wonderful for getting work done. Fast and easy wi-fi, awesome options for tea and coffee and a whole menu of options to eat. I can not attest to the quality of the coffee, but only because the tea is so nice and creative that I always end up opting for a tea instead! I had the most delicious coconut tea latte with honey, cheesy jalapeño bagel toasted with cream cheese and spent about an hour working away. The ambiance seems to be a lot of young folks doing the same and there is a constant buzz as folks fly in and out with to-go orders. as a plus, there are a couple other businesses operating out of the same location that one can enjoy, from hot and savory empanadas to fresh seafood from get hooked seafood delivery, its a great place where many things coincide. My one critic is that it is often so busy, you will find things like napkins, coffee stirrers, and condiments often go out of stock and have to be asked for. I don't mind as I am within walking distance and trying to be more sustainable anyway by bringing my own washable napkin and straw et. But for those looking to be in and out swiftly with all the to-go accoutrement, this may present a delay! Definitely try Mosaic if you need a busy place to work with white noise and great tea! Not only was the coffee and food incredible, the employee was extremely kind and even gave us recommendations for things to do and restaurants to go to. Stopped in for quick Americano. I did not realize they do not have espresso; only coffee is dark or medium roast. Coffee is Dark Horse out of San Diego, pretty good but I do like my Americanos. Apparently the donuts are popular, they of course have Draughtsman beer. I am not much of a donut fan but I will be back again for beer. The owner (older gentleman I believe) is really nice, as are most staff. However, a young Caucasian man (in the photo Lola N. posted) who works there is rude and disrespectful. I can tell that he treated me differently and even ignored me because I looked younger (even though I frequently purchased food/drinks at Mosaic). I did enjoy visiting this place, but after that encounter with him, I really didn't feel welcomed and will not return again. read more

Atmosphere is nice enough and an okay place to study, but legit waited 30 min for one empanada. On top of that, they got my order wrong. Wifi passcode they gave me didn't work (multiple attempts), I ended up using Free People's free wifi. First off, Mosaic Locale is not just another business on state street, it is 3 locally owned businesses under one roof. Hook & Press Donuts starts it off in the mornings at 8am followed by Buena Onda Empanadas and Draughtmen Aleworks at 11:30am. They also serve cold-pressed juices from Juice Ranch. All of the businesses in here are cranking out the best possible products available. No one in Santa Barbara makes beer, donuts, juice or empanadas better than these guys! Everything is absolutely delicious and you can always find at least one of the owners hanging out. They did such an amazing job brightening the place up too! When I heard that Mosaic Locale serves empanadas, I had to give it a try. Located on State Street, public parking is a short walk, so it is not a challenge to visit. Not only does Mosaic serve excellent empanadas, it serves Draughtman Aleworks pours and I have been told, amazing donuts. Yes, it is an interesting combination. When you think about it, an empanada washed down by a brew, with a donut for dessert works. I had an traditional Argentine beef empanada filled with a picadillo ground beef mixture and served with chimichurri. They bake their empanadas, which I prefer over frying. The empanada dough and chimichurri were exceptional, which I almost never find in the case of empananda dough. The filling, although good, was not quite as good as I would have liked. I not an Argentine beef empanada snob, I might have thought it perfect. Rather than reduce an otherwise 5 star rating, I have chosen to assign it. I am sure the other empanadas were exceptional and I will be back to try more with another filling. read more

I just went there to try the Empanadas well, the cashier ruined my experience! They have a deal where you can get 3 empanadas for about $10. Otherwise, 1 costs you $3.85. I got 4 empanadas and was expecting to get the 3 empanadas for $10 and paying $3.85 for the 4th piece. But he charged me $16.75 for 4 empanadas. I even told him that this is not fair and does not make sense but he did offer to do anything, he just blamed the owners or managers for this charge. I even told him that I could just buy 3 and 1 later, but he did not do anything and told me that i got 4 and not 3, and suggested to come back again . LOL well this won't happen! I definitely won't be coming back to this place. It is simply a rip off! Feels like they are desperate to charge their customers extra! The cashier should be done suggesting me to pay separate or even offer me to get more empanadas so it would be the best value for me the customer! Just a rip of! Made me feel bad too.
