Five stars for this lovely place! I admire the sophisticated decor and it is primarily my favorite color blue so thats always a plus for me! I enjoyed a salad with shrimp and scallops for lunch and it was delightfully fresh. the owners and staff are very friendly and accomodating; they seem to know all of the guests by first name and I always appreciate that in a restaurant. read more

We went to an early dinner last Sunday, none of us in the group (9 of us) had been there before. We walked in and our table was ready and our waitress (who also got/made drinks for us) was absolutely amazing! All our food was good, came out fresh, hot and everyone paid attention to details. My family and I have gone to this restaurant probably 1,000+ times over the past couple of years. They have spectacular food and atmosphere. You would be surprised to know that this place is located on Route 22, but you aren't disturbed by the cars outside at all! The staff is absolutely wonderful and everyone comes and welcomes us every time we attend this wonderful restaurant! The food is always perfect and they will always make my favorite Manila clams in a white wine garlic sauce (which hasn't been on the menu in forever!). Have slowly become a big fan of this place. Not a huge wow, but they deliver extremely good dishes very consistently. Parking is easy, location is very convenient. My wife & I have been using this as our go-to place for when we want to have a very good meal without the kids that's not too far from home. Seating in the back room is perfect. You feel like you're part of the action but can still actually talk & catch up on things without having to yell at each other. Service for us has always been very friendly and attentive, really adds nicely to the experience. The bar is a bit small & seems to get backed up pretty quick when they are busy, but still pretty good. They make a nice martini. The appetizers are great, varied & portions are just enough for two to share. For entrees: the pasta, chicken & seafood dishes have never disappointed. However, had a steak there on Mother's Day that was way overdone. Still tasted good, but not worth ordering again for me. Stick to the other stuff & you'll be fine. Plus they have Tortufo (my Wife's favorite desert), so that's a big "win". Will def be going back. read more

BAD BAD BAD SERVICE. I went here with my family for dinner on a Wednesday night and sat in the inside porch area (which was NOT crowded). I asked for a salad with salmon and 30 minutes later the waiter came back and said "We don't have smoked salmon, only grilled." Meanwhile, I wanted grilled salmon all along. The waiter was also hard to understand. It took 1 hour for any food to come out to our table but when it did they brought out two dinners along with one persons appetizer. They took back the dinners until the appetizer was finished, but even after the appetizer was done we still waited another 25 minutes for the dinners to come back. NO BODY EVER came back to our table to ask if we needed anything/how things were. We ended up having to ask the hostess for the check. My food was average but I could have made a better dinner myself. This place truly was not worth my time and our waiter should be fired. read more

As an Italian-American who grew up with the finest in down-home fresh, amazing food, I generally eschew Italian restaurants. However this place has won me over. It's not really Italian. The featured wines are Croatian which tips off the owner's ethnicity. The cooks in the kitchen don't look Italian, and the staff certainly isn't. Not a parmagiana dish on the menu. Yet every meal I eat here is very satisfying like the linguine marinara with seafood I had tonight or the tuna special I had last week. Salads are big, fresh, with just the right amount of dressing. The dishes show some imagination without being fussy. The ingredients are fresh and of the highest quality. Since I don't go here at peak times I find the whole experience relaxing. If I'm alone I'll eat at the bar and talk to the effervescent Elizabeta who greets her customers like family. Yes, the prices are a bit high. But I always feel that I got my money's worth. read more

Came here for Sunday dinner and place was packed from multiple parties. We ended up on one of the high tables which was small but managed. As other reviews have stated the service and staff are very friendly and attentive. The food is above average. In fact everything we ordered we truly loved. For appetizers we had the mussels/Manila clams and fried calamari. For our entree I had Linguini Pescatore and my wife had Pork Chop. The broth in the Manila clams was probably our favorite. It had pleasant mix of herbs and garlic and after finishing off the mussels and clams, sipped the broth like a soup. I wish my wife ordered the rib eye steak simply because lots of places are judged by how well a steak is prepared as ordered. Neither of us were craving red meat though. For dessert we had the lava cake with side of gelato. We decided we would definitely come back but not too often cause a full meal is a bit pricey. read more

From the apps to dessert, the food was very good. The service not so much. The service was very uneven. Good in the beginning, but deteriorated throughout the meal. We needed to track down the waiter to have our table cleared and were presented with dessert menus as the dirty plates were being removed. Menu quality was high. Food very good. However was given the bum's rush at 10:45 pm along with another 4 person all women table. Server tried to take girlfriend's unfinished drink. She reached for it and he stood at the table until she finished it. Then he tells us to drive safely. We were enjoying conversation and probably would have left in about 15 mins but found it rude after a $120 dinner for 2. We ordered for pickup and they prepared the food quickly and the staff was courteous when we paid. But, when we got home and tasted the food it just wasn't very fresh or well-seasoned. We tried the gnocchi in red sauce with shitake mushroom, peas and scallops. It smelled very fishy and tasted bland. We also ordered the Pizza Mosaico, which was a flat pizza where the various ingredients weren't balanced; too much pineapple. And, it tasted soggy. read more

I live close by and frequent this restaurant from time to time. I am hardly a regular I might go one a year at most. The main reason for my infrequent visits is when they first opened I found the room noisy and difficult to hold a conversation with people at your table. They since seem to have corrected that by drapes to the windows to cut down on the sound. Al in all the room is pretty and a comfortable place for a meal. Last night I was I the mood for seafood and I didn't want too fancy a place or too cheap so I figured this kitchen would be well suited to my quest. I was correct I had a wonderful seafood salad for starters the a beautiful piece of red snapper in a saffron sauce as the main course. I left there well satisfied. But with the main course coming in a 30 bucks a plate it was a little on the pricey side. The dinner for two drinks aside came to about 100 bucks for a couple. Here in lies the rub and why this restaurant is not always full. If the prices were 20% cheaper they would be full but as it stands now they have limited themselves to a clientele that does not feel the pinch of the higher prices. Will I go again? Absolutely! But only when I am feeling financially stable. read more

We had an engagement party at Mosaico (Oct. 30, 2015) and worked with Andy on the party details. We had 65 people and used the mostly private part of the dining room. Not only is the room very nice, the service and food were outstanding. Andy could not have been more gracious and cooperative as were all the staff that helped us. There were various packages to choose from and all were reasonable considering the quality and selection of the food we got. All the meals were delicious and this was a wonderful party. I would recommend Mosaico for your restaurant selection or if you choose to have a party of 80 people. P.S.They make excellent sangria! read more

The task to find that perfect spot for your daughter's bridal shower is not easy. Fortunately, I chose Mosaico. There were so many great meal options to choose from, and the planning stage was easy. Rudy and Andy were most accommodating. Every question was answered directly and quickly. This rarely happens when reaching out to a restaurant. They even gave me two options to set up, either the night before or early that same day. This is usually not the case. On the day of the shower, Rudy was there bright and early to make sure everything went well. Any item we may have missed to assist in the decorating, scissor, marker, etc., was supplied immediately by their amazing staff. Every request to help move a table or get an extra plate setting was done on the spot. Coffee and water was served to all who attending the early morning setup. All the 55 guests were greeted with warmth and smiles. As usual, the food was amazing. Accommodating all those different choices is no easy task and no one was left waiting for their meal. Everyone commented on how delicious their meal was. The service was impeccable. Bernard was there to help in any way possible frequently checking in to make sure all was okay. He wanted to make sure the food delivery didn't interfere with the events planned and it never did. The shower was a huge success. I would recommend for Mosaico for any private party or just a great dinner out. Every guest will leave happy. read more

My wife and I have been to Mosaico on three occasions and have never been disappointed by the wide range of menu selections, the elegant presentation of entrees and the attentive staff. The ambience is spacious, although the stone walls and floors make it a bit noisy. The wine selections go well beyond the traditional ones, including some very good Croatian reds. Expect the tab to be about 50% higher than a typical NJ family restaurant. Well worth it for special occasions. read more

Beautiful restaurant. Very nice wait staff. We ordered the shrimp cocktail and the seared scallops. The shrimp cocktail was good the shrimp were huge and flavorful. The scallop app was nothing to write home about. The sauced served with the dish had no flavor. For dinner my husband had the salmon. He thought the inside of the salmon was a little mushy but he did eat the whole dish. I had the pollo martini which was good. For dessert we ordered the seasonal fruit in a almond cup and creme brûlée, which was delicious. Would I go back? Maybe. Just because the atmosphere and staff were nice. read more

We had a terrible night at Mosaico last Saturday. We were meeting with old friends we haven't seen for awhile. We asked to sit away from the bar where it would be quieter. The Manager/Matre'd seated us next to 4 gentlemen who were inebriated and continued to use foul language throughout the evening and got louder every 15 minutes. Apparently, the manager knew them and stopped by their table to laugh at times. We couldn't talk, the distraction was unbearable and after spending over $130 a couple not counting tip, we left but the other couple who recommended the restaurant made it a point to tell the manager how unhappy we all were. He apologized, I told him if he knew who they were, he should not have sat us next to them. He said he would "take care of my friends" the next time they came into the restaurant. My question is, why couldn't he take care of us then since he was the manager and we had just paid. Besides all of that, the food was mediocre to say the least. The bread was good. We will not be going back again nor will we will ever recommend this place to anyone. A restaurant should cater to couples out for a nice weekend dinner OR a adult baseball team or biker group who sits at a table drinking, cursing, doing shots and getting drunk. You can't service with any success, both types. read more

Horrible, worst meal I've had in years! Overpriced, tiny, tasteless appetizer and main course. The first time I had to eat a sandwich when got home after spending $100 on my meal. Go to Garlic Rose in Cranford or Sophia's in Springfield for amazing food, good portions at 1/3 the price of this pretentious wannabe restaurant. Avoid these appetizers 1) rubbery,chewy calamari, 2) invisible 2 tiny 1 inch meatballs and 2 inch eggplant rollitini (devoid of any taste and unsatisfying) 3) 4 tiny overcooked tough and mushy bay scallops (not the diver sea scallops as stated in the menu) .All a complete waste of money at $13 each. Osso Buco was an embarrassing single 2 inch piece ( less than 2 oz of meat) served with bland tomato sauce and undercooked broccoli rabe. A normal portion would be 3 or 4 of these pieces. A total waste at $30. This selection came at the suggestion of our server??? This is the only time in my life I have felt compelled to write a review of a restaurant after the awful food. Nobody at our table enjoyed anything this placed served. 2 of our party were regulars who knew the staff and manager, which makes this awful dining experience even harder to understand. I don't understand how they could recommend this place to anyone!. Complete waste of $600! Most local diners can serve a better more satisfying meal. Avoid this place and save yourself money and total disappointment! Wish I could give negative stars rating as 1 star which is the least allowed almost suggests I had something good to say about this place! read more
