The business hours for this establishment on the web state they will open at 4 pm today which is Saturday February 8th. When I arrive at 4:10 pm, the door is locked and a hand written sign posted there says "closed because of weather." I look around and there is no snow or ice on the ground or in the air. There is nothing weather related at all happening. I look at the weather forecast for Mount Joy and see a possible 1/2 inch of snow is expected. I'm thinking, unbelievable. I've been going to this pub since I was a teenager and have seen the pub change hands many times . With each change we have seen improvements. Currently the pub has a really great vibe with somewhat new ownership. However the quality of the food has changed drastically. The wings are poorly prepared. The salads are mostly brown wilted leaves . I'm hopeful that things will improve but from what I've seen over the past year, it looks like it's on the decline . read more

First, I want to say a few years ago I would have recommended this restaurant to anyone. After the meal we had tonight, I can't say anything good about the food. I had a Reuben; it was dry toast (not grilled), the meat was like a deli cut and thick, I couldn't find any cheese, sauerkraut was skimpy and had a lot of Thousand Island Dressing. Not what I thought was a good Reuben. My friend ordered the Shepherd's Pie. It was dry also (she didn't believe there was any gravy), the mashed potatoes dolloped around the edges were also dry. She sent it back and ordered a burger. The burger wasn't anything to rave about either. The waitress did tell us that help was difficult to get, and she was sorry for the poor quality of the food. Have not come here for many years, thought I would make a choice to try them again after five years. Appetizer came out cold. This place has been around since I was a kid. It has come a long way during that time. They have always had a great selection of wings, but now they have filet mignon and crab cakes on the menu. I had their hot turkey sandwich which was good, but the gravy was a bit salty for me (those words almost never come out of my mouth). Their desserts are phenomenal. We used to go here at least twice a week. After dining here tonight, I doubt we will go back. The bartenders on Saturday night are worthless. The drinks were weak, and they could care less. We asked for our silverware, because I guess they think you eat with your fingers! I never got my dressing for my salad. My husband asked for ketchup for his fries, and the bartender gives him a bottle that's almost empty and says, " I'll get you a full one when that's empty!" This used to be a great place to go to. My husband and I were in Lancaster this past weekend for a baseball tournament and met up with my 2 brothers and their wives for an overdue visit. After being on baseball fields all day we ventured out to find a place for dinner before going our separate ways. We are from Southern Md. and both couples live around the Douglassville, Pa area. A nice couple referred us to Mosby's Pub which was about 20 minutes from the ball fields. At first glance to the entrance I thought is looked more like a bar than a restaurant. The front entrance was definitely deceiving! Walking into just a bar area, the bartender had a fairly full bar. There was no one to welcome us, so I went up to the bar side and asked the bartender if they served food. He looked at me like I was crazy, but I ignored his expression anyway and he finally directed us to a hostess desk where a nice young man sat us at a table set for 6. It was a smaller room but very cozy. The server, Shirley, attended to us immediately. She was very efficient, friendly, and had a good sense of humor. She told us she had been there 34 years. One brother and I ordered the Parmesan Crusted Haddock, others ordered a couple burger plates, Garlic Steak Bites, and my husband ordered the Club sub. It was huge and all the food was great! My husband and I thought this was the high light of our weekend enjoying excellent food and service with our family. What looked like a hole in the wall turned out to be quite a gem! Great food! We had the wings which were great and onions rings and potato wedges and burgers! Everything was delicious! Definitely recommend it. It was 4 people and the bill came out to $72 bucks not bad for all of the food we had. We ended taking left overs home since portions were big. read more

Yuck! One of the worst meals/dining experiences we have ever had. Very disappointing because for years this place had amazing food. They also had the best wings at one point. That is why we drove over there from York. The wings didn't even taste like Mosby's wings so either they gave me the wrong space or they changed the recipe for the sauce for some reason. The mushrooms in the mushrooms with crab imperial appetizer were not cooked and cold and the "crab imperial" was nothing more than a couple pieces of crab meat. The chicken tenders were so over cooked and burnt that my mother-in-law practically chipped a tooth trying to eat them. Mosby's is a little restaurant in Mount Joy. Decent variety of menu items. Appetizers, soups, salads, sandwiches, pasta dishes, seafood, steak, etc. One thing I like is the daily specials. Most restaurants have "daily features" which are the same meals that are already on the menu and cost the same as the menu price. When you ask what a daily feature is, it's nothing but bringing your attention to the fact that this meal is on the menu. But Mosby's is different; their daily specials are things that are unique for that day that are not found on the menu. So, every time you go there to eat, you have the option of at least one meal that you haven't seen before. The food quality is good. The portions are ok. The wait staff is friendly. Good wings. The best time to go to Mosby's is on Tuesday nights for trivia, that is by far the most fun. You can play at the bar or in the family dining area and you can create teams and win gift certificates that can be used in the restaurant. It's a nice little out of the way place to try and easy to find on the main street in Mount Joy. read more

When our entrees finally came my wife's was wrong and mine was cold. We were told they would cancel the soup and discount her entree. Been to Mosby's many times but it's not the first place I'd choose if I want a nice dinner. Burgers are ok but more like an oversized meatball than a burger patty. Everyone raves over the wings. Here's the facts: They win yearly awards but their sauces change constantly! Old favorite standby flavors have become nothing more than deep fried wings dipped in bottled sauces. There are still many to choose from but most aren't worth it. The bartenders are as inconsistent as the wing sauces! Some are downright rude & snarky. Others forget you're there & act like you're asking for a huge favor to get you a drink. One was actually sitting on a barstool eating her meal and my husband had to ask for a beer! I heard they changed ownership and was curious if they altered the wings. They did. I have been going to this establishment since the owner/cook who was temperamental at best served the best wings. As much as the new owners try to duplicate that same taste, they sometimes fall short. The service and a burger were fine, but the only reason, I go is the wings. I have to give it a star to review it but YUCK is what comes to mind. My family and I went on a Friday with no reservations but it was nice enough to sit outside in the smoking lounge ( we don't smoke) so we did. At least they were nice enough to keep us as far away from the ash trays as possible. So the tables are tiny for 3 people to eat, I'd say okay for two people. We heard so much about the wings and are such big wing fans we were so excited to go.....that didn't last long when the tiny dozen of wings came out to the table :( My daughter got a kids meal of grill cheese and fries that was 5.25 and didn't include a drink so her meal was $7.00 Wings - we got thai (very hot) - was the description but it was more like Red colored wings with no flavor....not hot at all Honey BBQ was good but it just was yellow....it looked like they forgot the BBQ. We got meatless nachos since I'm not big on grease on my nachos. I'm also a huge nacho fan so I normally ask what is on them because everyone's description of "Cheese" is different. The nachos were round, smothered in cheezewiz, with pickled peppers, black olives and scallions. It looked like a hot mess!!!! I have issue with nachos without real melted cheese. CheezeWiz is for Philly steaks not Nachos!!! So the bill - $34.00!!!! For a dozen midget wings, small plate of nachos, kids meal, drink and 2 beers. Oh and another pet peeve.....Don't charge for celery and dressing.....it is a wing necessity not an extra side! Yes I like wings good and Hot. This place was the one that got me hooked on the suicide style wings - so hot you cry with tears running down your face HOT. As I have gotten older I prefer to eat the wings - Just as hot, why not? Even though age may seem a rudimentary foundation to cutting back on spicy food I prefer to keep my insides as strong as the rest of me. Tuesday night is the only night you will get a seat at a table. If you aren't into the place by 6 PM on Wednesday or Thursday you will not get to sit down. Sometimes you wonder why everyone is here. I think the community meetings are held nearby, otherwise its just cramped to move around comfortably. If there was a pool table here I never found one, the place is always hopping when I visit. read more

Wings here are good. They make their own blue cheese dressing, which is very tasty. If you can get there for the happy hour, those items are priced ok. Otherwise, it is a bit pricey. About $6-8 for a craft beer. Easy to rack up an over $50 bill for two even when ordering cheaply with a few beers. I've been here maybe ten times. Tried burgers, salads, ruebens, sandwiches. Everything is just ok, so the price is a bit high, except the wings are worth it. Beware Nissley style...they broil them, which sometimes just comes out burnt. Just happened upon Mosby's looking for a non-chain restaurant while staying in nearby Lancaster. Entry is a bit confusing if you aren't going to the bar. You don't realize that they have an actual dining area because you enter into the bar area and aren't greeted at the door. We took a bar table and I found the dining area when I went in search of the restrooms. We then went to the dining area where we stood for a bit and waited for someone to seat us. Our server was a very nice woman who was very efficient and humorous throughout our meal. We ordered wings since there were signs indicating they were local award winners. The wings were good and crunchy with great sauces and rubs. We had original BBQ and garlic chili sauces and I tried a lemon pepper rub. The only setback for me was the charge for celery and ranch/bleu cheese. I can't remember ever being charged for those items elsewhere unless I ordered extra. The stars of the meal for us were the house salads that we ordered on the side. They were extremely freshly made and had a wonderful mixture of greens. Overall a pleasant experience. read more

Mosby's was hyped up a lot by people I have talked to in the area, so we went on a Friday night to see what all the hype was about. Come to find out, if you go on a Friday you better have reservations. The wait was 2 hours, so we left. We came back on a Sunday and they were closed. Finally we went on a Tuesday and we got a table no problem. We started with wings, and they were good, and crispy. The wings could have been meatier but they were good. The blue cheese was sub par, it didn't seem homemade. My wife ordered the marinaded chicken salad with balsamic, I had a blue cheese burger. They had a burger that had Cajun seasoning and hot peppers. I thought if you are going to have a burger with Cajun seasoning why not a black and blue burger? So i added the seasoning tot he burger. I ordered the burger medium and the burger was cooked perfectly and it was very juicy and tasty. The burger came with chips but I subbed them out for onion rings for $2.50 more. The onion rings were really good, and surprisingly sweet. My wife's salad came out with a pile of fries on it?!? They looked like cheap frozen fries, but what were they doing piled on the salad? The chicken had great flavor, the dressing was homemade. Our waitress was very friendly and the place was clean. I would say their menu could be a little more focused and it didn't live up to all the hype we heard but all in all we were pleased and would go back again. read more

It has a neat colonial atmosphere and PA tavern feel. The Buffalo Chicken Salad in a variation of the Pittsburgh Salad. It's my favorite meal.
