This place nearly extorted me to get my pupillary distance with my eye exam, and while I was there…read moreI saw the front desk gossiping about a guy who called in to say he would be 10 mins late then they denied him service for being 12 late - it was empty I'll start with the good: The Dr did a fine job doing my eye exam, but they also don't have the newer tech you see at chains that scans your eye for weak spots or tears it's strictly old school in the eye exam but he was 'OK' - but when I double checked I would be receiving my pupillary distance (to order VR lens inserts, which I mentioned while making the appointment), he was evasive and said talk to front desk. They flat out told me they cannot give it to me, because they only use the 'new technology' where they put a measurer on the frames you are buying that they couldn't get to work for like 20 minutes. I commented that I'm sure they have the old binoculars style ones in a drawer that measure directly and would pay more to use it. They claimed they didn't and only have the new system. At this point I felt very bait and switched, but just bought new frames to get SOME measurement to go home with. At this point I got snarky because I was effectively paying $350 for glasses I didn't particularly want or need (but I guess extras or nice),just to get the # that has been the norm for exams for decades AND which I told them I wanted when making the appt. They never said 'you'll have to buy frames here to get that #' and took my appointment anyway. Finally when I'm checking out, the one sympathetic 'but just following policy lady' agreed to pull the old style ones out of the drawer... Low and behold they still exist! And it took 30 seconds vs 20+ minutes on the 'frame specific' ones -- so I got both #'s. I -probably- could have declined the frames at this point but I figured it may be interesting to compare and it was only a few hours wages anyway and still didn't have the PD #'s in hand.. But the whole thing was just needlessly dramatic and deceptive. Before checking out the manager started trying to trap me with a lecture on how it's better and how I don't understand the business blah blah blah -- but I have NEVER had an issue getting my pupillary distance measured with or without frames because you NEED it for your RX if you go elsewhere for frames anyway. That other guy who was late btw? All 4 women were talking derisively about him in earshot of me before he got there, and there were no other patients in office. It's unfathomable to me that the 2 extra minutes late meant he couldn't be seen.. maybe the Dr was going on break but they didn't say that, and I am certain he would have been willing to wait if that was the case. A bunch of gossiping power hungry hens running the front desk make this business a 'never again, not if you paid me' based on what happened to me + how I saw them talking behind his back then pretend no one knew who he was and they had to ask around. They were complaining the whole time about the audacity to call in and expect to still be seen when they told him to keep coming... Then pretended to have no clue then get a manager to deny him. The lady who finally got out the 'old style' PD measurement tool that took 30s or less to use when she realized what was going on was a blessing and I feel bad she has to work with all those other beasts, and the Dr seemed competent enough despite setting me up for a scam. Normally I happily go out of my way and pay extra to support local businesses out of principal. In this case I'd say go anywhere else, even Walmart, and you will have a better experience. Absolutely do not go here unless you are ready to literally argue for an hour to get a PD reading with your eye glasses RX. If you plan to buy frames... Well you may have an OK outcome but you'll be supporting a staff that clearly has a culture of disrespecting and arguing with customers. What are the odds the only two customers (marks) there that day with at least 5 staff on hand would be enraged by their collective behavior before leaving? TL;DR - Staff will lie to your face, gossip about others in front of you, nearly extorted you for basic prescription details that are needed if you want to use it elsewhere, and just garbage people. I have to assume this place is still in business strictly due to the deboer name being prominent in the community, and probably elderly people who can't make it to a real professional office. AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Went in for an annual eye exam & was charged for a comprehensive visit as opposed to an annual exam. Which means we pay, not the insurance co due to coding. After several conversations with the billing dept we were told they will not revise the code to correct it. We will NEVER go back.

I have referred many people, and will continue to do so. Probably my favorite eye doctor and center I've ever worked with in 30+ years of wearing eye glasses. Highly recommended!

After having moved to the area 2 yrs ago, I needed an eye exam so decided, based up overall review…read moreratings to try the CP Eye Care. A student (who didn't seem trained or competent) read my eye pressure which took him several tries. Next, I saw the doctor who was very personable. After selecting frames, I was told that my TWO pair of glasses would be in within 10 working days/2 wks (which I thought was extensive - previous IL eye doctor delivered in a few days). I called a few times to check on them (never received a call) and was told that ONE pair was in. Asked the student which pair and he indicated that distance was in. Asked him when reading glasses would be in and was told within the next day or two. Picked up the "distance" glasses only to discover they were actually "reading". So I kept calling and could NOT get a definitive answer nor did anyone offer to check with the lab. Finally, I called and asked for the doctor (who was "with other patients" then never called me back until I called AGAIN and left ANOTHER message). He said he made a mistake with the order (yet never notified me of a delay) then the next day told me lab needed to reorder glass as it came in damage (I'm smelling a run around). Told him I wanted to cancel the back order and would never return to this provider. The next day all of a sudden, (he never mentioned my refund) and told me glasses would be in within a day or two. When they finally came in, NO ONE on either occasion sat with me to ensure glasses (which I paid $900+ for) fit correctly, I had to ask for a case both times and had to ask for an itemized bill (which I should have received before the order was placed). It would take a Philadelphia Lawyer to figure out the bill with all the ancillary charges on the bill. I will happily drive back to IL to my PROFESSIONAL and WELL-TRAINED optical office where they have their act together. WOULD NOT RECOMMENT!!!!

Dr. Rogers gave me a complete exam as well as a comprehensive dilated eye exam which I have never received in Chicago up to this date. She asked a lot of questions and answered any of my own. The experience of having my frames fitted with lenses was easy and efficient and my glasses were ready to pick up within a week. My insurance covered everything 100% and I look forward to returning to have transition lenses made at this location. I honestly wish I had sought them out years ago.

They were supposed to simply fix my lenses with the frame I had purchased at the other location. I was told it should only take a week, which was perfect since I was moving out of state the following month. Fast forward A MONTH! Still no glasses, no communication, I have to call every single day now as I'm moving at the end of the week, and zero accountability. All I keep getting told is that my frames are on back order which doesn't even make sense since they have had my frames the past month.... Really looking forward to having to go through another merry-go-round of phone calls to get refunded for this complete let-down. Avoid MrEyeDr like a plague.
