Extremely poor carry out food service. Terrible communication with management and owner. My experience with this careless restaurant was outstandingly horrible. The food tasted fine, but the way the restaurant chooses to serve their food is obviously motivated by cutting as many corners to spend the least money. First, I ordered FIVE sushi orders, all which were tightly packed together to fit into ONE to-go tray (see attached photos). These FIVE sushi rolls were separate orders for three people. One of these three people can not eat mayonnaise which was an ingredient in one of the the sushi rolls thus prohibiting them from eating the food they had paid for. When I addressed this issue the manager and owner told me it was my responsibility to ask for separate to-go containers for each order. ALSO, each order of sushi should have come with wasabi and ginger but instead, cutting corners, this restaurant chooses to put one serving of wasabi and ginger in one small container together, unable to separate the ginger from wasabi. To continue my compliant I had ordered two house salads and the dressing for both salads were different colors, not sure what was different about them I asked the management and they could not tell me what the difference in color was... what??? Next I ordered two miso soups but I was not given spoons, forks, or napkins, and when I asked why I was not given these necessary items to eat my food the management and owner told me it was my job to request silverware.. again what??? Never had I been cheated out of my money like I had when I ordered to-go food from this stupid restaurant. read more

I've been a regular at Moshi since shortly after they first opened, and I consider them to be one of the best sushi places in the city, certainly the best east of 71. Reading the review, I've seen lots of complaints about the prices, but honestly, for the quality and freshness of the fish, I feel the prices are very reasonable and can't understand why people complain. We're in a landlocked state, fresh fish is going to be more expensive. After moving to Columbus from Honolulu, Hawaii--where there are literally Japanese restaurants on every corner--Moshi Sushi was the only place I found that satisfied my cravings for fresh, flavorful sushi and the staff there is welcoming and very very friendly. read more

Maybe tonight was just an off night for this place, but my husband and I left disappointed. The servers were polite and friendly, but they looked extremely harried- constantly running- yes, I actually saw one running- back and forth. We were seated right away but told that the kitchen was backed up- 25 minutes for food and 45 minutes for sushi. I don't think ours actually took that long, but the table across from us really did have to wait a long time and complained. The atmosphere was nice- we chose to sit inside but the patio looked especially pleasant. Now for the most important part, the food: House salad- small with a miso citrus dressing. Would not recommend. Spring roll appetizer- this consisted of one skinny spring roll cut into four pieces. The inside was very processed looking. The dipping sauces were good though! California roll- standardly delicious. Yum! Trio tataki- the fatty tuna was excellent, white tuna was good, and Kobe was fine. The fish was very fresh and we would highly recommend this! Beef yaki soba- I did not care for this at all and my husband had them remove it from the check. I think this was a personal preference though and was grateful that they removed it. My husband thought it was rather bland but ate his portion with some spicy mayo added. Overall, we noticed that most people got sushi, and the sushi was our favorite part of the meal. Other than that it was too expensive for the meh quality appetizers and entrees. Had dinner here again Sunday evening, as we thought we'd give what was once one of our favorites another chance. Once again, service was slow, slow, slow. Wine was good. Cocktails so-so. Our appetizer - has been great in past - Sushi Panini - came out lukewarm. Rolls were good [although the KIM roll we had looked nothing like the picture provided.] We were there 2.5 hours - water glasses were never refilled. One of our party was about to order another cocktail, and also wanted another roll - asked the server if it would take very long, and his answer, "well, we're packed". There were many empty tables. Always wanted to try this place and finally got around to it. Went with my brother and fiance. I ordered the rainbow roll, miso soup, two orders of tuna sashimi, and one order of eel sashimi. The wait for this food was very long, about 40 minutes for the sushi. The miso soup came very quickly. When the food finally arrived, I was shocked by the quite small portion size. For the price, the portions are ridiculous. The food itself was pretty good but the price was just not justifiable whatsoever. Absolutely disappointing. At least the waitress was very polite and apologized for the wait. I will probably try their pad thai for takeout sometime in the near future but if those portions are just as small then I will probably never go to this place again. Unless you have lots of money and time to waste, I would not recommend going here. read more

The Bexley restaurant scene is still growing, but I love this sushi place! The Ohio Roll is the BEST sweet potato roll I've ever had! $6 wine specials on weeknights too! Even under the old management I didn't have any complaints, but I hadn't been there much before. As a broke college student I wish they were cheaper but I can say that the sushi is so delicious it is worth every penny. They have a very friendly staff and amazing service. Tonight my roommate and I ordered carry out and when we got there they realized that their CapBucks machine was malfunctioning, we were disappointed but there's not much they could do but right before we left the owner stopped us and gave us the sushi for free. I'd been meaning to try Moshi since it opened, but never quite made it...I went for lunch, and must say I was not that impressed. There were two other tables in the restaurant, and our server was flighty, at best. She approached the table after we had sat there for 10 minutes to ask about drink orders, and when we stated we were sticking with water, she walked away without asking if we were ready to order or if we had questions about the menu. Once we had our questions answered, service was relatively quick, however, when I pushed a plate to the side of the table, she ran across the room to remove it, leaning across my sushi plate without saying a word, her shirt nearly touching my food. As for the sushi, I can see what other reviewers were saying about small portion sizes for the price. Initially, I thought $9 for two rolls was a decent price; however, I didn't realize the rolls would be the size of nickels in diameter, and the flavor was average, at best. The tempura roll was especially salty. My friend ordered her roll without wasabi, but was not pleased to see large gobs of wasabi within the roll. Additionally, her roll was $11, and she received five relatively small pieces for that price. When the server returned to our table to ask if we'd like anything else, my friend said, "No, but..." and was left hanging as she was hoping to inform the server of the wasabi error. Needless to say, I doubt I would return here. The nicest thing about the restaurant is the decor, and that is usually free. With several better establishments in the Columbus area, I don't see any reason to go back. read more

I didn't know it at the time but you eat here for the fancy scenery and NOT the sushi. I'm a big sushi fan and have been to many places and this place had really mediocre sushi. As someone stated before, paying for their prices I expected it to be delicious. Not saying it was gross, but it was just OKAY...and not only that! The sushi was TEEEEENY and at very very little portions. My brother and my cousin laughed at how the tuna roll and salmon roll looked just like Kroger's sushi except smaller..a lot smaller. I ordered the Bexley special roll, it had a more American taste to it. It was okay, but not delicious. I do recommend going during happy hour if you want to taste this place. Love the food and drink. Lately, the staff has turned over quite a bit on the servers and sushi chefs. You can tell a difference. Some of the rolls are just not the same quality wise. I was getting my car serviced nearby so I walked here to feed my famished belly. I walked in right before 2pm, forgetting that some restaurants close after lunch time. I was told that I would need to get my order in quickly but, for some reason, it didn't dawn on me that I might be holding everyone up. I put in an order for udon and asked if it might be possible to have the shrimp replaced with tofu. They obliged and maybe 10-15 minutes later, my order arrived. The waiter even brought me some extra spices that he recommend I try. The noodles were delicious. It was mid-noodle that I realized that no one else was in the restaurant and the employees were relaxing and cleaning. Crap-- this place is closed, I realized! Well the staff, in no way, made me feel rushed or unwanted-- which I thought was very nice of them. Outstanding service and really delicious food! The Jmynt roll is delicious, steer really, really clear of the Moshi roll. The Moshi roll is disgusting, like, yuck. And it's expensive. We also had the yaki soba. Average, it needs work. This was a pretty nice place. There is plenty of parking across the street, which is nice as everywhere else is street parking. We went here for lunch and we beat the lunch crowd. There were only two other groups in the restaurant when we came in, four people total. We didn't order any special drinks, just had water. My friend has a food allergy and will ask to make sure that everything is safe for him to eat, which should be the case at a sushi place. It took our server almost 10 minutes to get back to us on that, with only a few people in the place at the time. More people came in and our server got busier. We then ordered 4 easy and cheap rolls as we had somewhere to be. While the rolls were quite good, California, Philadelphia and Smoked Salmon, it took another 10-15 minutes for them to show up. People who came in after us were getting their food before us. Our server did apologize. She said she was new, which is fine, but it shouldn't take 40 minutes from sitting down to walking out when there were only 4 other people in the place before us. The construction of the sushi at Moshi is absolutely beautiful and delicate-- the prices and flavors are not. I am always excited to try new sushi places on the outskirts of Columbus as I am constantly looking for hidden gems to frequent. Though Moshi is good, it was not worth the extra drive to Bexley for what it was. I would have given them another star as I did enjoy their drink menu, but was simply disappointed at the lack of diversity in some of their rolls. If I lived down the street I am certain I would probably return every couple months out of convenience alone. I do give them credit for knowing their audience as the menu certainly would suit the general customers of the area, but true sushi connoisseurs would ask for more. My husband and I have been customers of Moshi since it opened. In the last year or two our frequency had slowed down because of a variety of factors. But last night we decided to give the restaurant a try again and we are so glad we did. I don't know whether management had changed but they were firing on all cylinders last night. i stopped by moshi sushi for dinner on a thursday night. i think moshi is the best sushi restaurant in columbus. the interior is clean & modern. the staff are friendly & the owner takes his time to walk around and speak to the customers. that's customer service. we ordered some sashimi and the seafood was fresh....the yellowtail was awesome. we also ordered the jmymt which is apparently their number one seller (i can see why) and the hurricane which is really light and fresh. alot of sushi restaurants are too heavy handed on their sauces but it was perfect @ moshi. you MUST order the sushi panini. i know it sounds weird but damn it's GOOD. i can eat that all day long. read more

This place used to have one of my favorite Happy Hours (although it was only available on Monday & Tuesdays). It has been about a month or so since I have been there and now probably won't be going back. The Happy Hour drink prices went up 50% and this time the martini's were barely half full. The happy hour sushi also has gone up in price. I can understand raising the prices slightly but 50%?? It wasn't has if the sushi was unbelievabley good, but was tasty for the price. The service has always been slow, but even less tolerable with the price increase. I will be looking elsewhere for my asian happy hour fix. read more

Moshi sushi offers high quality sushi with a more traditional approach. The rolls are well made and the fish is always prepared immaculately and melts in your mouth. My only advice for the restaurant is that the seating could be more comfortable, and the pricing could be a little bit lower to offset the relative lack of ambience that comes with being in the base of a very undersold condo development. read more
