The absolute worst customer service in retail. No logic employed in their approach, no courtesy given (as most businesses do as they seek to have happy customers who want to return). Moskatels employs completely apathetic and condescending employees who honestly cannot explain their poor service, lack of care or policy changes. In an age when you can find anything on line through companies who offer discounted prices, make purchasing and occasional returns painless and offer ways to show you your repeat business is valued to them, this store boldly proclaims that they don't give a sh*t about the people who keep them in business. I don't know when this approach could have possibly worked for them, but as a business practice this is incredibly short-sighted in this day and age. Came here to check out some wedding craft supplies, and let me tell you, THEY ARE NOT LACKING HERE. The prices here seem generally reasonable, and there's both a retail and wholesale section for whatever you need. I thought I was coming here for BARGAINS! But I actually came to another Michael's store that can't scan your coupons. When I was browsing around... all I saw were the same things you can get at Michael's! Then I checked my wifi and it had Michael's as the title. Then I went to the cashier and it was Michael's on the credit card scanner. So I asked the cashier and she said the store was actually owned by Michael's. It all makes sense now. I drove through crowded streets and traveled miles to another Michael's when I could've just went a couple miles to my local one. It would've been helpful to know this. I wouldn't have wasted my time here because I literally saw the same things I saw at my local Michael's and there were BARELY any bargains. Everything was full price and nothing was at wholesale prices! I would've gone to the other craft stores around but there is a 2 hr limit for the car garage and you would be walking through homeless encampments but Peng's Craft was another one on my list that I wanted to try out. And it was LITERALLY right there but I already wasted so much time at this place. BTW, if you want to go to another Michael's they give you 2 hrs of free parking with $10 minimum purchase. read more

I have been going here since I was a kid when my sister had her balloon business back in the 80s. Now that I have a mini business of my own, this place is one of my main stops for when I need to replenish my supplies. I would give this place the full 5 stars except I have a few issues. The staff can be more helpful and friendlier. The prices are a bit higher than the stores outside. I can walk 2 blocks away to get a spool of ribbon for $2-$3 less and not be charged tax. Their advantage is that they carry more in selection under one roof than any of the surrounding stores. I go here to buy supplies not easily found in the area too. What I don't like is that almost all the time, they don't restock on items they run out of. But overall I do like the place despite the things I whine about. read more

Moskatels is a hidden craft-lover's gem. Located within the flower district, Moskatels has everything you can find at Michael's at a discounted price. They have their own parking structure that is 2 hours free w/ validation and w/ a minimum $4 purchase. It's a pretty far drive, but if you're planning a huge party, it might be worth it to try to save money on decorations. Plus, if you're planning a wedding/bridal shower, you can knock out the floral arrangements and decorations at the same time! I recommend coming to Moskatels after a holiday or season. The cashiers and workers are very rude! I picked up some letters that were marked 40% off. Multiple signs were on the display and around it. When I got to the cashier she said they were regular price, I told her there was multiple signs stating 40 percent off. She said I was wrong, that it was impossible because the letters were in season. I told her to have someone check, she then turned to the cashier next to her and told her about the situation. They both laughed and the second cashier looked at me and continues to laugh while shaking her head no. The cashier I was dealing with said she couldn't do anything for me.. Staff is always so helpful and this place is huge, truly a warehouse for goods that are needed for parties and other events. I have been coming here for about a year. This place really does have inexpensive, on-budget items for any occasion. Helpful Tip: Bring lots of quarters! Parking structure policy is strict and inconsiderate of a 15 minute grace period. -To get parking validation you must make a purchase of at least 10 dollars or pay 2 dollars cash only. There are absolutely no exceptions to this rule. -Store does not have ATM. Why does the store get one star? I did not find what I was looking for. I explained my situation to an employee and then the manager. No one cared, because the rules are the rules. I got directed to the flower district to find an ATM. The human quality of understanding that one should not be forced to purchase an item for a validation or to pay if one does not find what they are looking for is not cool. read more

The store is huge and stocks everything from high-quality goods to cheap lil tchotchkes. And of course, I dig that seasonal stuff is always way, way, way on sale: 30 - 60% off.
