Lovely little plant shop Felt so personable, thoughtful even; I can appreciate that attention to detail. One of my residents lost his bird, she was a friend to him for 39 years. Wanted to find him something to remind him of her, that Would never leave. I explained this to Jessica, the owner and she was very kind to help me pick a parrot plant with the cutest little bloom the same color as our lost friend's tail feathers. The thoughtfulness definitely resonates.

Super cute and trendy plant store on piedmont ave! You can't miss the store while walking on the street. The decor itself will draw you in. They have so many plants here and many uncommon plants. They are all very well taken care of and super healthy looking. You know you're getting good quality plants here. The staff is super helpful and kind making sure you find everything you're looking for.

Had a blast making a terrarium at Sip and Terrarium. Jess and Jack were great teaching how to make a beautiful mini world of plants and miniatures. I love my little mushrooms and kodama minis and the plants are so sweet. Also they have lots of boobie pots.

What a lovely, beautiful, fanciful plant shop!! This place has so many nice indoor plants and unique ones like a coffee plant/snake grass/moss balls that I hadn't seen. They had a cute selection of gifts and we'll definitely be back for next years holidays! The helper was very kind and generous w her time. Things seemed fairly priced for the quality and the experience.

I'm so excited to use this new plant serum! My monsteras, philodendron, ficus, and alocasias are going to be so happy with their new food!

Jessica was so sweet and helpful! The energy was so calming and positive as soon as you enter and they greet you. They have a good variety and such a cute collection of pots to choose from. Also extremely knowledgeable since I'm new to plants so their guidance was everything! Will definitely be back

I attended the "Sip & Terrarium" evening! It was so much fun and is a great way to meet new people. Jess & Jack are welcoming and Jess is a great teacher. Their shop is really cute.

First, I want to say that their social media and marketing is genius. It's one of the few plant shops in Oakland that seem to constantly be on my feed, which is why I visited. Overall, the prices here are pretty inflated and their selection isn't as wide as you'd hope for the price points they have. In my experience, it looks like plants here are about 2-3x their wholesale price. I think it's important to shop at local nurseries, but it's almost egregious how much more plants are here compared to local nurseries and plant shops in the area. The customer service the few times I came wasn't noteworthy. The first several times I came in, I wasn't acknowledged and couldn't get help trying to search for a specific rare philodendron I've been trying to get. When I tried to ask about specific rare hybrids, I was met with a bit of contention over mispronouncing a species. In my most recent experience, I bought a spagnum moss pole so one of my climbing philos could use it to anchor itself. When I opened the product, it was bent but I still tried to salvage it. The next day, I woke up to the plant I staked it on almost fully broken at its base because the pole bent over. I called to return the pole, then went in and was given the most anxiety-ridden service over the return policy being broken/etc. I had to be persistent to get my return which I think is a bit ridiculous being that the item almost killed my plant. I think if you're going to be marketing items this high, there should be a good customer report and high quality of service.

Jess was happy to watch our babies after we purchased so we can walk around the town a little bit.

This plant shop has been on my list for quite a while. I made it a point to go there today because…read moreI had some time on my hands and I have to say this place holds a special place in my heart. Before even walking in, you're greeted with just a beautiful mural on the outside of the building. Then when you walk in, you're greeted by this beautiful greenhouse and plants all around and then you go into the actual plant shop, and it just keeps on going in terms of places to sit, a cute little coffee bar, a very beautiful altar looking space in the back and a couple of little seating areas that are super Vibey and damn gorgeous and sexy. I'm IN LOVE with a plant shop. There isn't any space in this place where you just can't be in all of anything that your eye catches. Everything is intentional and my senses just soaked everything up that this plant shop had to offer. I already knew what planted I wanted to take home with me and I think it was meant to be because it was one of the first plants that I saw before going into the plant shop. It was almost as if I was meant to go here and pick her up and be her mom. While I was there, I also picked up some incense and linen spray because, why not? I ordered a cardamom matcha, which was recommended to me by Simone and I loved my drink. I took my time and drank it in the corner of the shop just soaking up the vibes and just being around it is gorgeous green beings that give off so much positive energy. I got there first thing in the morning when it opened at 10, super calm, and I was the only one in there looking and browsing. Service was excellent and vibes are 10/10. Returning? It's my number one plant shop now! BLK Girls Greenhosie, can I Iive there???

A botanical wonderland!…read more My friend taught me about this shop that we just HAD to pop in while I was visiting them in Oakland. This shop exceeded my expectations. From the entrance to the back door, the space has been meticulously curated to be welcoming, refreshing, and a place of peace & refuge. I love the variety of foliage available, and was impressed by the education that the staff offered on each of the plants available for sale. One of my favorite aspects of this shop is the partnership with local businesses, where makers can display and sell their wares in a "pass through" fashion, with all proceeds going to the small business owners. What an outstanding way to build community and to provide real estate for micro businesses. Kudos to the staff and the creative team behind Blk Girls Green House! Job well done!

Their inventory is dominated by your typical cultivars of philodendrons, anthuriums, pothos, etc. Most of these plants are widely available at garden centers and other plant stores. Even the carnivorous plants and staghorn fern they had are varieties I've commonly seen elsewhere. They also carry spray painted tillandsias, a practice I dislike because it obscures the plant's natural appearance and is something I generally associate with novelty retail rather than horticulture. I visited hoping to find some unique specimens, such as uncommon orchids, metallic leaved begonias, rocklike pseudolithos, or other harder to find collector plants. Casual indoor plant owners would probably find this store adequate, but I'd recommend those looking specifically for rare or unusual plants to skip this place. Update: Soon after writing this review I got a very emotionally charged message from the owner who mentioned that my review is a "public dig" and asked "Is it your goal to damage a women owned and run small business?". It leaves a bad taste in my mouth when I leave an honest respectful review (all I did was highlight who this store would be good for!) and I get a response like that. Especially ending in her saying "I hope you have a better day than I now will have". It's all very unprofessional.

First visit to Crimson Horticultural Rarities on Piedmont Ave but a frequent visitor to their former location in the Temescal Neighborhood and bought my first air plant about 10 years ago. Floor staff friendly, provides assistance and advice. Ended up with a Swiss Cheese plant (monstera adansonii) kokedama which is the Japanese art of growing plants in a moss-covered ball which is definitely a conversation piece. Pricing on the higher side so I visit for the unique arrangement or rare plant I haven't found. Crimson Horticultural Rarities also provides full service event arrangements and indoor plant design for your place.
