Extremely Disappointing and Ongoing Service Experience I rarely leave reviews, but my experience with Mossy Nissan Poway's service department has been so frustrating, drawn-out, and unresolved that I feel obligated to warn others. I purchased a used 2013 Lexus ES 350 from Mossy Nissan Poway on October 8th, 2025. At the time of purchase, the passenger-side headlight was out, and the salesperson Luca assured me it would be fixed free of charge. I also agreed to pay $150 extra to have both headlights replaced with brand-new bulbs so they would match and look new. What should have been a simple repair turned into an ongoing nightmare involving eight service visits, repeated mistakes, and damage that continues to this day. Visit #1 I drove 40 minutes to the service department and waited 2 hours, only to be told they needed to order a part. I left with the headlight still broken, but was promised it would be fixed quickly next time. Visit #2 After being told the part had arrived, I returned expecting a quick visit. Instead, I waited another 2 hours, received confusing explanations about missing bulbs, and was told yet another part needed to be ordered, despite being promised this visit would resolve everything. At this point, I spoke to the service manager, Darren, who said he understood my frustration and would personally oversee my car moving forward. He explained that since they primarily service Nissans, Lexus parts take longer. I agreed to be patient. Unfortunately, things only got worse. After this visit, I discovered that both headlights no longer worked, even though one had been fully functional before. This made the car unsafe to drive at night. I called immediately, upset that a working headlight had been broken. I was told I would not be charged and asked to bring the car back. Visit #3 I was given a rental vehicle and told repairs would take about a week. Visit #4 Two whole weeks later, I was finally called to pick up my car. I immediately noticed that one headlight looked newer than the other, even though I paid for both to be replaced. At that point, I was exhausted and just relieved the lights worked. Until the next day. That's when I noticed the front bumper under the passenger headlight was coming loose, something that was absolutely not an issue when I purchased the car. It was clear that the bumper had been improperly reinstalled after repeated headlight removals. Visit #5 I was told this would be an "easy 15-20 minute fix." I waited an hour and a half, only to be told they needed to order yet another part. I was promised a full tank of gas for the inconvenience. Visit #6 A different advisor helped me this time. The bumper was supposedly fixed, but once again, the passenger headlight was out. I was told this happened because I didn't come in on a specific Friday, even though I had properly rescheduled for Monday. Somehow, the issue was blamed on scheduling and staffing rather than the repeated service failures. Visit #7 I returned yet again, waited another 2 hours, and was told--once again--that another Lexus part needed to be ordered. I was given another rental vehicle. Visit #8 After four more days, I finally got my car back. At the time, the headlight and bumper looked acceptable. Now, just two weeks later, the situation has become completely ridiculous. The passenger-side bumper is now completely loose, and the headlight is out again--yet another failure after supposedly being "fixed." After eight visits, countless hours wasted, repeated promises, and the same problems returning, I am not coming back a ninth time. At this point, it is clear that this service department does not know how to repair this issue properly. The lack of organization, poor communication, repeated mistakes, and inability to fix a fundamental problem are unacceptable. A simple headlight replacement should never turn into months of frustration and ongoing damage. As a first-time car buyer, I've found this experience incredibly discouraging. I strongly recommend not purchasing a non-Nissan used vehicle from Mossy Nissan Poway, especially if anything is wrong with it, even if the dealership promises it will be fixed. Based on my experience, those promises mean very little, and you may be left dealing with unresolved issues long after the sale. Posting the negative review seemed to light a fire, as Mossy Nissan Poway actually contacted us two days later with an update, to tell us that they were working with the supplier and that this was a national issue with the supplier shipping the wrong batteries (missing the accessory kit adaptor parts needed to be compatible with the hybrid Nissan Altima). They said the accessory kit would be arriving in a few days, and it finally arrived (6 days later) on January 22. This was 24 days after we first went to the dealership to pick up a replacement battery. By that time, we were out of the country (as we had warned them multiple times in our futile attempts to get them to actually work to resolve the issue). When we got back, the old battery had lost all charge such that we couldn't even open the car trunk to access it (because that takes some battery power). So, we had to call AAA (again) to jump the car, which turned out to be a blessing in disguise. Because lo and behold, they sent a guy who HAD the battery we needed in his truck! The price for the battery INCLUDING installation was less than the "discounted" price Mossy Nissan Poway wanted just to purchase the battery (with installation estimated at an additional $200). We wish we'd called AAA sooner. Technically, Mossy Nissan Poway did finally resolve the issue, but we strongly suspect they let it slide for two weeks until we posted the negative review. We think it's unreasonable to take constant nagging, a negative review, and 24 days to get a battery--hence the "could have been better" rating. read more

Just had my old review deleted by Yelp because the owners submitted that I never showed up to this location. I can assure you, I was at this Mossy Nissan in Poway getting service on my 2010 Nissan Altima to get a free oil replacement when their staff broke my windshield. Their service manager at the time, Aaron Blanchard, threatened to fight me on their blacktop before I notified him that we would call the cops on him before he tucked his tail in and we were able to find a resolution with the general manager of the dealership. read more

Phillip Trickey was wonderful! I called and asked for him as I've worked with him before and been very happy. He gives such personal attention and care. My 2016 ALTIMA radio wasn't working and the rear view camera wasn't either. I was very distressed because it's vital to see when I'm backing up and also my Bluetooth wasn't working and I was having difficulty hearing on my phone's speaker. I had a lot of driving I needed to do. It was late on Saturday and I was in Vista which was quite a distance away from the Poway store so Phillip referred me to his former co-worker Jose at the Escondido Mossy Nissan. Have been bringing my car in for service for several years. Today I had an appointment and when I arrived I was rudely asked if I was leaving the car all day. I said no, I am just getting an oil change and routine service. When I made the appointment they said I could wait for the car as I have in the past. Nope, not this time. Damn, how do I get ripped off at the mossy nissan poway service dealership.. AFTER ive dated someone who worked in a service department. I should know and remember all the tricks by now. I just paid thirty dollars in labor for something that should of been free. #imloosingmytouch #carservicepeoplesuck #damnyou. I went in for a muti-point inspection which was free, but somehow i got talked into doing a break inspection which wasn't, "covered" but the damn break inspection is printed out on the free, "complimentary muti point inspection" and ended up paying an extra thirty dollars for labor. I feel so ripped off. I waited two hours and paid thirty dollars for a bad vacuum job and my breaks are now squeaking and they weren't before. I thought you were supposed to be able to trust car dealerships to not mess up your car? Now I have to drive it somewhere else to get it checked out. They just hosed it down. why didn't I read the reviews BEFORE I dropped it off?!?!?! - so, I needed new rotors & brakes on my Altima - I saw they were running a special for $299.95 (who tf would say no)? anywho, I called 4 different times to ask if the price included labor .. 1st call - yes it does, however, you must pay $29.95 for the brake inspection .. 2nd call - no it doesn't 3rd call - I don't know the prices 4th call - no callback!! I also asked how long it would take - they said 1-2 hours (which is normal) SO, the day of drop off (i had my bf drop off it was a Thursday) .. he drops it off & he made sure to ask if labor was included - the final answer was YES! they also saw a few recalls they wanted to make sure to take care of (cool) after all the intake was done my bf was told that it would be done by end of the day! However, I went back today (warranty replacement) which I would not have known about if I didn't come here in the 1st place. They said this was wrong...then that was wrong, then something else was wrong and tries to add more and more charges. I wish I could give a negative review. I made a reservation to get my oil changed. I showed up at my reservation time and they took too many people before me and could not honor my reservation. So I drove out there for nothing. No apology or anything just said he could not take my car that day. The was very frustrated but decided to try it again. This time no reservation because that clearly does not matter to them, I got my oil changed but they did not tighten everything and my car was leaking oil until I went to another shop to get it tightened. Dropped off my car there to get the fuel Sensor fixed as soon as I stepped in the waiting area I sales man at his desk taking off this shoes trimming his toe nails and another guy at the car sales men main desk not even wearing his mask over all some were wearing masks others had masks not even wore properly or masks at all. I decided to not wait around to be even this Covid infested place. There no contact with the service department advisor that I was talking too that took came he told that car was going to be done in 2 hours and everything was covered under warranty. When I came back within the 2 hour time period he told they didn't have time to do the car and that they had to do on Monday but he said I leave the car there and they would charge a quarter of the price for a rental loaner car thru the dealer ship. I have had my truck serviced here under warranty. The average visit has run 3-4 hours. To be fair, this has been on Saturday and without an appointment. The last time I went here for an Oil change, they left the drain plug loose and I was dripping oil. I hadn't returned for 3-4 months before today. It had been long enough for the pain to fade and I decided to give them another chance. This time, I only needed a simple oil and filter change and I made an appointment for 8:30 Saturday morning. I arrived at 8:15 and got started by 8:30 ( after declining 5 minutes of upsale attempts). So, dummy me thinking a professional service center could do a simple oil change in 30 minutes or so. Haha! After an HOUR and a HALF, I went in search of my service rep. I was told the appointment is only a drop off time and has no bearing on when the work will be performed. I said I need my truck and will go elsewhere. He said they were almost done and he would come get me. He finally came to tell me it was done and only nearly TWO HOURS later. I paid and got my keys and just wanted to get out. Nope, truck blocked in and no one around. Went back in and found my service rep and told him I would like to be able to actually drive my truck. He said he would find someone. 10 minutes later, they moved a car in front of the one directly blocking me and left. I squeezed by and left that piece of hell. Called to schedule an appointment for an oil change, the clerk took our name and vehicle information, asked us "passenger or commercial van" we told her passenger, and sent us an appointment confirmation. We cleared our morning and arrived at 15 minutes before the service department opened, only to be told that the Poway location doesn't service Nissan NVs. So- the clerk scheduled the appointment. We were sent a reminder email which clearly states the type of vehicle to be serviced. Yet- that location doesn't service our type of vehicle? NO ONE in the service department could have offered us a courtesy call to let us know that prior to the appointment? We needed to drive 45 minutes, wait in line 15 minutes to get the memo. Rescheduled with the El Cajon location. Would not recommend, highly disappointed with their total lack of professionalism in the service department. Took my car in for a safety recall and a "leak" check recently. From the start I experience exceptional customer service. I was in at 7, signed some papers, and the nice young man who drives the shuttle took me home. Worked with Eli. He was very prompt on letting me know the status of my car. I was given a rental and was in and out with ease. It took me a couple minutes to sign papers and grab the keys. After the crew kept my car for a couple days they were able to fix the problem and give me back my car in a timely manner. 5 stars for how easy the process was, 5 stars for the wonderful customer service I received. And, when I called in yesterday to see if they were going to be able to get the repair done, I was told the technician did not come in because he could not find a sitter. A SITTER. My vehicle is sitting in a bay and nobody else can finish up the work on it? This is what Mr. Benz told me. There is no way for anyone else to get in there and finish my vehicle, so it will have to wait through Sunday and Monday. I just bought a Rogue at dealership next door in July. I fully planned on going to this service center for the first 15k-20k of regular maintenance but I caught them trying to gouge me and they have completely lost my business. The story: a few weeks ago, a car wash employee pushed my backup camera into the rear hatch door. I filed a report and took my car to Nissan Poway Service to get an assessment. They took my car for about 5 minutes, came back, and told me a story about the door dismantling being a complicated 1.5 hour job. It would cost $216 and change. Very disappointing. After that I spent a few weeks trying to get the car wash to do something about. Eventually they ghosted me. So I started looking harder on the net to find out how to fix it myself. I couldn't find my exact year/model but the videos made it look simple. I end up finding out it was way easier than I thought. I noticed a small gap near the glass (inside). I put my fingers inside, gave a light tug, and the panel popped off like a Lego piece. There was my camera dangling. I snapped it back into to place with ease. Tested. Worked. Panel then popped back in in seconds. Whole process required no tools and about 10 minutes including time spent researching online. $216 when the fix could have been completed in the amount of time it took to explain the job and print an invoice. Imagine how stoked I would have been to learn something about my new car! Instead, screw you guys. Never coming back. You'll never get a penny from me. read more

I got very quick and polite help, but honestly $215 for resetting a sensor seems too much for me, so I will keep trying to find where I can get this done cheaper. After taking my well maintained SL Altima in to be serviced for oil, I started hearing a loud noise, knocking and rattling noises. You can imagine how I feel. Did the service men give me the wrong oil?? I'm not sure, I called service Dept and spoke to a lady who didn't acknowledge my concerns or offer to help. Her immediate response was anything can happen after you leave our lot and it starts @ $99 for us to inspect your vehicle. I can't understand how I'm being penalized and charged. She was very confrontational when I requested to speak to someone else she refused. I asked for a manager. She refused. Being on a call I'm limited what can be done. I called back pressed 1 for service and was given to a manager who I expressed my concerns to. He asked me to bring in my vehicle 3/18/16 so Freddy can help me. I'll update my post when I learn more. They extended a warranty on the Altima Cat Converters because they tend to go out and that saved me MAJOR money! I will definitely be back to Poway Nissan! I love this place! Not only because Nissan takes cares of their customers but because the people were awesome! Plus, they shuttled my behind to/from my house (which is totally out of the 10 mile shuttle range) so I wouldn't have to sit there for hours. A++ Customer Service! i have never encountered a service department more friendly, reliable, or trustworthy than the team at Mossy Nissan. They have been servicing my Xterra for two years. They have fixed my fuel tank, done my oil changes and all my general inspections. The oil changes are only $45 for 3!! The best part is the service guys Darren and AJ who always remember you and your car. They go out of their way to make sure you are getting your car what it needs and provide you with professional service. I am an OK mechanic so I rarely take my cars in for service; however, I went to Mossy for a RECALL notice on my 2009 Altima. The service was OK; however, the team set all the maintenance reminders. Now I am plagued with constant OIL-Maintenance; TIRE-Maintenance and other nuisance warnings. With 80,000 miles on the car, I now need this? I think NOT. Each time was early in the morning, he had a positive and energetic attitude!
