This is one of the nicer Motel 6s I've stayed in. The rooms are pretty standard - having a bathtub instead of just a shower is nice. The staff is exceptional and I want to mention Ruth at the front desk. My room wasn't quite ready at 3 p.m. when I arrived, but Ruth let the housekeeper know and I walked down the street to the Marriott and had a drink while I waited. This Motel 6 is within walking distance of the Walnut Creek BART station and I find that to be a big plus. We had to stay here for a week while looking for a new place to live. It was clean, and well used. The people seem to disregard the non-smoking rule, so forget a non smoking room even if you ask for one. In fact, there are ashtrays in the room with non-smoking stickers on the bottom....which I can only imagine is for the weed, which is legal here (and honestly less offensive than tobacco IMO) The maids are very good, I actually had to stop them a few times from coming in to the room, since we didnt need anything and we have dogs. They are very cool about giving you what you need from their cart. The walls are thin, but I know to bring earplugs to hotel rooms. The bed is ok and I went to the Target down the street and bought my own pillows for 4 bucks. All in all...it wasn't my first choice, but it was clean and we had a place to stay for a week without stress. OH...one more thing, there are no public laundry facilities in Walnut Creek. Room has been updated recently but still feels like a "low rent" motel room. Room includes a bed, shower, sink, TV, and that's about it. No closet, Kleenex, shampoo, conditioner, hair dryer, iron, coffee maker or clock. Location is near freeway and nice restaurant options are just a short drive. Front desk staff was friendly. My normal hotel chains were booked up or extremely expensive for some reason right now in this area. My BF and I were surfing online for a different hotel and he says "why don't you try one of these Motel 6s? They look redone and nice". So because the price point was right, I decided why not. Here is the "why not".... The room is modern and matches the pictures you see online of them for sure. That is about the only good thing I can say about it. Wifi - Normally a 2.99 per day charge. Since I used a AAA rate, I got it included for free. Breakfast - There is none. Though they do have 1 thermos of coffee up front at the desk you can go help yourself to starting at 430 am. Hairdryer - None in room. They have a few at the front desk and you are welcome to use one, but you have to leave a $10 deposit or your drivers license. And you have to bring it back. You can't leave it in your room for the duration of your stay. Bed - Since mattress, platform style bed. Which I like. Firm. Which for me was fine but I know a lot of people like a softer bed. The down side was the hair that was in the bed that was not mine...before I got in it. :( Bathroom - Actually fairly roomy and bright. Funny thing, the bathroom vanity has a bottle opener on it. Just in case you need to pop the top on your beer while you're getting ready for work. No shower supplies either. The only thing they supply is the soap. Closet - There is none. It is pegs on the wall that you hang the hangers and cloths on. There is a shelf under it that you can stack some cloths on. So....bottom line. While Motel 6 has been updated and the rooms are very modern looking....they are really designed for that single night male traveler. Someone who isn't looking for any bells or whistles and isn't planning on making this "home" for a couple days. Since I travel for work and hotels are often my "home" for a few days, I can say that I won't book another Motel 6 unless I absolutely have to. This is as cheap as you're going to get for the area ($66/night.) The room was relatively clean. No perks, not even little shampoos. Hope you like to wash your hair with a tiny bar of soap. No coffee maker in room. Ask at the desk for an access code for the wifi, it's $2.99 for 24 hours. Room was quiet. Sturdy deadbolt. Taco Bell across the street. One of the nicer motel 6's I've been to. Rooms have air conditioning and bathtubs. The pool area is nice and sunny, we enjoyed an afternoon swim since it was so hot out. The staff is all very pleasant especially one of the front desk attendants I believe his name was sureander, he always greeted us with a smile. I would definitely return to this location. Check in was supposed to be at 3PM. We arrived about 5:30 waited for almost 1/2 hour for the room to be cleaned, but couldn't check in and had to leave for an appointment in San Francisco. Arrived back close to Midnight. Parking lot was full and almost had to park down the street, but found one spot thankfully. This is a Non Smoking room, but it smelled like a bar from the 1980's. REEKED of cigarette smoke. No other rooms available. (Of course...) So we left the bathroom fan on all night and ran the AC fan which didn't help. Miserable the rest of the night and could barely breath mush less sleep... The freeway traffic and the street traffic noise in the very early morning was incredibly loud. Also noticed cigarette burns on the edge of the bathtub by the toilet. Mildew stains around edge of tub and frayed towels. We didn't even take a shower in the morning to get out of there ASAP... Our nose, throat and lungs felt like we'd been in that old 1980's bar all night. No kleenex, shampoo etc. or any amenities. Paid WiFi. In the morning I told the ladies in the lobby about our experience and they were apologetic and refunded us $10. for our troubles. (Nice ladies though.) Will NEVER go there again under any circumstance. Horrible experience to be sure. Not worth the $. So Avoid this place like the plague, and find another hotel /motel. Anywhere but this one. Whew ! Legend has it that Motel 6 got its name because the price of a room was originally $6. When I stayed at this particular Motel 6 the cost was $62, which seems like a lot even by today's standards. Bed bugs! Theft by maid. Owner looked the other way and did nothing to return property. Was told I, the motel guest, couldn't preside outside of my room at night and talk with other neighboring guests. Since when do motels restrict when common areas, like hallways, can be utilized by paying guests? The woman at the front desk was rude and had deranged mood changes during conversations. The manager of this location is a maniac. The door to our room slammed due to the wind. I guess someone complained even though we did not complain about the cops outside all night. I went to get ice and she said I was kicked out. Snatch my key and sun glasses off my face then rifled through my stuff only to get my id then threw me out. I am a 42 year old woman an have never had this happen. We are contesting all credit card charges and if anything is missing a police report. She is a maniac. 10 stars down!!! Now she has admitted she was wrong and has let me back in after 2 hours in 100 degree heat and going through my things. There is something wrong here. Glad my flight is only 5 hrs. read more

I'm not sure what the negative reviews are about. It's a Motel 6. The registration people were friendly and personable. We stayed on a Friday and the cost was $76 plus tax. We included the $2.99 internet cost. The rooms were super clean. It's true. Horrible cops in an out. Harassed by police for two days simply walking to go get water from the vending machine. Was ban from this location 4 cops making both statements against me and manager came and kicked me out before checkout. Come to find out they had the wrong person and I'm no longer able to rent at this location. Terrible. I don't know how this place gets 3.5 stars. Called ahead for late arrival. Informed me they would charge my card while on phone (fine with that but was flag and later got why). Upon arrival there were no parking spots and was told I'd be ok to park in spits labeled "No parking. Will be Towed" Was cautiously OK with that too. Got into room and incredibly strong stench of cleaning agents probably to cover something up. So string has burning sensation in eyes and throat. Tried to sleep through anyway while listening to some dude snoring in room next door. After 30 min of trying to get desperately needed sleep as pitstop (which is why I opted for motel over hotel), called nearby hotel and got out if there. read more

I have no idea why people are rating this hotel so highly. I had out of town guests and booked rooms for us in town. The rooms are very small with low grade everything. The walls are paper thin and the noise from the freeway kept me up all night. The bed was horrible with scratchy sheets. The pillows a joke. The only redeeming quality is the nice staff. We did get one of the older rooms but I still would not come back given the price. Too much to pay for the quality. read more

Staff were very nice. As mentioned in other reviews, bare bones room and amenities. You get the impression that the hotel is on an even tighter budget than you are. You can get things like shampoo if you ask, though. Wifi is extra. If the rooms were $60 a night, I think it would be a solid value, but at around a hundred, you are only about $20.00 a night away from something more pleasant and with the amenities that many of us have come to expect. read more

I had to relocate for a few days due to renovations in my apartment and looked at several places. I decided on Motel 6 for two reasons- my dog and parking. There is no pet fee or parking fee. I had no idea there were parking fees at certain hotels ( I was looking at the Hilton which had a $19 daily parking fee and 50 flat pet fee). The first two nights were relatively quiet, but the third and fourth night were pretty noisy. There is not much space to walk your dog and there was dog doo everywhere, so I alternated between patch of grass at the motel and parks in the area. Everything was clean except the floors which were kind of dirty, made me wish I brought a swiffer. They had plenty of channels and free wifi which was great. Do not buy anything from the vending machine. You can use the soda one but not the snack/misc. one. If you call the customer service number to say that your item got stuck they say they will refund your card but they won't... let's see what else? No issues with the ice machine.. no bugs or any critters in my room. The heater was a pain because it would blow hot air for a few minutes and then cold.. There was one rude lady when I checked in, but I can't remember her name.. There was a nice lady I think her name was Debbie. There are plenty of restaurants in the area, but if fast food is your thing theres a Taco Bell across the street and Jack in the Box about two blocks away. All in all, a decent experience. I'll probably use motel 6 again in the future if I ever need to.. ( but I'll bring my swiffer in case..) read more

The front desk staff was very friendly. I had visited Frisco earlier in the day and had done a little too much walking so I had a bit of a limp. The lady at the front desk changed my room to a downstairs one so I didn't have to walk as far. That was so nice of her! The customer service really sets this motel apart. We were checked in by a very friendly gentleman, and the night auditor, George, is extremely nice and helpful. This motel feels clean and safe and is well taken care of. The rooms are updated and modern with wood floors, a microwave and fridge, flat screen tvs, etc. We have stayed at many (literally around 50 different ones because we travel a lot and have a dog) motel 6 locations and this one is definitely the best we have come across. read more

First I asked for a non-smoking room and when we got there after noticing the smell of marijuana all over the room and bathroom I went to the office to explain the situation and they said they would move us the next day and they never did. The room is outdated, the service from front desk is horrible, they are slow, disrespectful and inconsiderate. Soap and anything you need you have to go to the front desk to get some, no iron, the internet is slow and you have to pay to use it daily. The location is not ideal and the noise from upstairs is horrible. The sheets had holes on it and the bathtub was disgusting. I had no problem with this motel 6, no bugs cleanliness was a 8/10 the bathroom could've been a little tidier but overall this was an excellent motel 6. Stayed for two weekday nights- cheapest room around @80/nt. I've been in motel 6s all around and this one had one of the freshest rooms around. everything was newly re-done, though it may seem cheap and not "real wood", could give two shits less as long as it hasn't been through 30 years of wear n' tear. so all in all the rooms are fresh n' clean, being an avid animal person would have never noticed any critters staying there. they have nice size flat screens, comfy med-firm mattresses, and an exceptional staff. March 21st & 22nd I stayed over w/my disabled cousin at Motel 6...Solano ave. Napa, Ca. Room 113......2nd night 2 roaches scooted across the bathroom floor at 3am... I had to stay over a third night due cousin's health issues...put in Room 118...3am one roach scooted across from under the table in front of beds and then 4am one roach scooted across the floor in the bathroom....I complained and was assured that I would get reimbursed for my 3 nights stay HOWEVER...In chatting to an employee she was shocked that after the motel being fumigated that week before and no one had complained that I would now be seeing roaches....this only leads me to believe the company hired didn't do their job OR it was never done. I am totally disgusted and just pray I took no lil critters home with me. Not bad for a Motel 6! We felt safe in this location and prices were very reasonable. The room was clean, although hardwood floors are kind of weird in hotel rooms, I get that they are trying to save money at every turn. The sheets are extremely cheap, but what do you expect? All we wanted was a safe and inexpensive place to stay in the San Francisco area and that's what we found here. I would highly recommend this motel to budget travelers.
