Gloria was very helpful in moving our son from Ohio to Florida! Her 2 man team was equally helpful when our freight arrived. It was a very hot and humid 94 degree day in the Florida sun and with minimal help from us, got everything moved to his 3rd floor apartment in under 2 hours. Nothing was damaged or even scratched. I wish I can give ZERO star. Not at all recommending this moving company. The owner Gloria accused me of claiming for pre existing damages. They damages our new Bed frame and Dressers as they stuffed very tightly in their truck what I have noticed. When I sent all damaging photos to the owner for damage claim, she replied me saying that those damages were pre existing and I hid it with the duct tape. She thinks that I invested my time and efforts in hiding all the damages with "Blue" color duct tape on "White" bed frame (imagine Blue tape to hide all damages on White color furniture) instead of packing 3 bedrooms house that includes state to state moving before moving day and removed all the duct tapes after we moved for the damage claim before sending pictures to her. I mean If i want to hide pre damages I would use similar color or lighter shade of the duct tape and not the bright color tape on White furniture . Her and movers assumptions are very poor. She accused me all this by sending email and after reading email When I called her to explain she disconnected the phone without listening anything. This shows the level of her professionalism. Guys DO NOT HIRE THEM. The driver removed an owl statue from our property without informing us or asking for our permission. He touched our property without our permission. The driver kept some parts of our couch while packing and then could not find those parts after the move. He wasted a lot of time there. He even misplaced some nails for the headboard, he told us he will get it from Home Depot which he dint. One of the crew member use bathroom and did not flush properly, leaving a mess for which my maid charged me extra to clean Someone from moving crew packed one of the table lamp with a delicate shade "inside" a memory foam mattress. I'm sure she will claim it was pre-damaged as well and make a false statement about it. Attaching damaged lamp shade photos here Owner thinks that we were living with all damaged furniture and blaming it on movers for their carelessness. She purposely said to pay 90 % of the moving amount three days before moving day so we wouldn't have a chance to look for different movers. I wish I would've went with a different company. Let me just start with that I have a bad back that's literally the only reason why I hired a moving company otherwise I would've used pods. Once I paid in full a couple months before my move, communication wasn't good. Gloria would say that she wasn't in the office and would get back to me the next day. This happened numerous times and sometimes 2 weeks would go by and still nothing/no response. All I can say is greed. So they hire random people to help the driver load up. They are not licensed/bonded/trained to be movers. They were throwing my boxes around upstairs paying no attention that some had red FRAGILE stickers on them. No surprise that some of my stuff was damaged upon arrival. Gloria says she pays her people greatly but she pushes about 12 times about making sure we tip good. She said that we need to tip the drivers no less than $50 per day they are driving but $100 would be best. Funny how she claims she pays her people very very well but constantly nags about tipping. Before the guys even finished she was asking the driver if I tipped him yet. Um... you don't tip your waitress before you are done eating... why would you tip if the job isn't even done? I moved from CA to TN and they coordinated with my landlord for delivery. They were delivering a day early. A couple hours before delivery all of a sudden the rate changed which she should've told me about this previously when I paid months ago, let alone given her my final address more than a month prior. Other people have mentioned in their reviews about this happening and their stuff being held hostage. I had asked the driver to please put my dresser in my bedroom closet because I have back issues and can not lift it. When I arrived to TN; I was pissed. My portable indoor Ac unit was left outside and also a box with meds and blankets were left outside and it had been raining all week. When I addressed this with Gloria she said they left a box out that was supposedly leaking and they may have thought it was an outdoor AC. Bottom line, you dont leave anything outside. Secondly.. I told her yes there was a box leaking and it was inside, upside down and broken leaving sugar all over my floor. That they left meds and blankets clearly labeled outside in rain and heat. They were also supposed to sort things in which I labeled: bedroom, living room, kitchen, hallway, sell. But they just put everything everywhere. Gloria said that she didn't know I wanted it sorted. I told her when I initially spoke with her she told me to label them so they can sort them where they go. My bed and bed frame was put BEHIND all of the boxes shoved in the corner. Mind you, I have a bad back, I told Gloria this and the driver this. Why the hell wouldn't they put it in my room. But nope..... I had to move all of the boxes to get to my bed just to sleep. My back was killing me for a week no thanks to them. Also the screws to my bed frame were gone. I had them in a bag, zip-tied and with packaging tape to the frame so they wouldn't get lost Other people on here has mentioned damage to their items and they either didn't get reimbursement or got very little to no reimbursement. I actually reached out to a couple of them and they did local moves and still had things broken or destroyed and a change in price before delivery. Overall, no one seemed to care that boxes were labeled with red FRAGILE, because boxes were thrown around, broken, thrown upside down. Not properly handled. I had broken dishes, my couch foot was broken off, my sugar was busted open, thrown with a hole in the side and upside down. Along with this was my outside storage was dented, my book shelf had a rip mark so something hard had to hit it and nothing put in the correct place. Terrible communication and told me 4 times she would send me a form for a claim. Almost a month later and still nothing so I give up on her. Funny thing is she had the nerve to say that they can help me move stuff to a storage. No way in hell I would use them again or recommend them. She had said they dont know how I packaged my stuff up. I packed my dishes in newspaper and blanket AND Fragile stickers on the sides of the boxes. The movers didn't care about anyone else stuff. Terrible to hire random people or "handyman" who aren't legit movers. I could have done that myself for MUCH cheaper. I also noticed that other people on different facebook groups about moving and they mentioned their experience with this company was terrible. Apparently when selecting movers you can't always trust reviews...so please take this with a grain of salt if you'd like, but I feel the need to share our story. We decided to hire Mother & Sons Moving mostly because of the good reviews we read. Now we know that it must depend on the crew you're assigned. I'll also say, as nice as Gloria (the owner) seemed in the initial conversation, it turned out she does not at all care about customer service or ensuring her clients are satisfied and stress free on moving day. Moving day is stressful enough, you shouldn't have to worry about things like your belongings being roughly handled and broken, being cussed out in front of your 3 year old and threatened. In all our years of hiring movers, we have never had an experience like we did with Mother & Sons. We were quoted for 2 movers and a 3 hour minimum totaling $495. Of course we knew it would take longer because we were moving out of a 5 bedroom 2 story house. The morning of, Gloria told us she added a mover but not to worry because even though that increases the price, they should be able to cut the time in half with that additional mover. So already starting off, over the quoted amount. For the first two hours they were at our house, barely anything got done. There was the lead mover, Jarvis in the truck "organizing" and taking a personal call for a long period of time where he thought it appropriate to use foul language in front of our three year old, and the other two movers were chit chatting with each other moving at a snail's pace, taking one box here and one box there. They were waiting around for Jarvis to give direction instead of bringing things downstairs, wrapping items or taking loads to the truck and setting them by the truck. All things you would expect to be done since they are being paid by the hour and we had a lot of stuff. Everything pretty much changed after that point because we felt we should let Gloria know at that point that things were taking a lot longer and we felt like our time was being somewhat wasted. She informed the movers of our complaints and they had an attitude the rest of the day. When we finally started to get to the end or when the truck was looking almost full, we figure out all of our stuff was not going to fit. The truck they brought was not big enough even though we told Gloria how big our home was and the items we had to move. She claims we didn't tell her we had so much stuff, but that is just not true. Also, when Jarvis got there, he did a walkthrough and saw what there was. So now we are stuck putting things in our cars, and leaving a garage full of misc items that didn't fit including our two sofas. They tried putting the sofas in the truck at the last minute, unwrapped even though we asked them to wrap them 3 times. They barely wrapped any furniture. That is not what we are used to. They didn't wrap much, complained about not having enough wrap and blankets, then we were actually charged for the supplies. In all our moves, we have never been charged for supplies unless they were special requests. When we questioned Gloria, she said it was in the quote. It was there in fine print, but it would have been nice to be reminded by her that morning or even the movers as they were doing it. We ended up paying and didn't have the things we wanted wrapped anyway. So while they attempted to put the sofas in the truck unwrapped, they broke both couches. The leg snapped off one of them and had to be left behind because it didn't fit, the other one that was loaded wasn't wrapped or covered and was dropped which led to a broken frame. Fast forward to unloading, Gloria had been in contact with us to see how things were going. We told her everything and that of course pissed Jarvis off. To the point he decides to cause a scene in our new neighborhood. He starts yelling, cussing, threatening to "leave our shit outside." He keeps saying Gloria isn't his boss and he doesn't care. As he is yelling and speaking poorly about us in front of our daughter and my mother, he is taking things out of the truck very roughly. He drags our gas grill down the ramp so rough that the electrical wires fall out and the side piece flys off. He just leaves it in the driveway. Gloria was on the phone the entire time this was happening and did nothing but defend him. She actually said "I think they just don't feel appreciated." I'm sorry, I didn't know it was our job to make them feel "appreciated." She said they are not robots as if we had these ridiculous expectations. Moving in June in Florida is hot and miserable, we understand that! When they first got to our house we joked and got to know each other, it was all good. It wasn't until nothing was being done that we started to feel taken advantage of. We are paying by the hour by the way. This is the longest review ever, but I can't make this stuff up! Continued from Ashley B's review: She stopped the unloading ¾ of the way through so we could work out payment. We couldn't agree on a price bc of the damaged items and unprofessionalism. So she gave us a price and a discount for the unprofessionalism that WE had to work out with Jarvis mind you. We had to talk to him ourselves and "work out" an agreement and an amount that was coming from his direct pay. Talk about awkward and not my job. We then agreed on a $100 discount for his behavior and she took it down to $90. SMH. I know right? What was the point?! She also gave us $55 credit for the other two movers. So she then said we have to pay now in order to unload the rest of our truck and I can settle the damaged items through a damage claim. We paid and they finished unloading because we had no choice or else we wouldn't get our stuff unloaded. We waited 3 days for her to send a detailed invoice so we knew what exactly we paid for. Shouldn't that have come before we paid? The invoice said to respond with photos etc or the damaged items. We did it right away including videos. We reached out daily over the next week asking for an update or timeframe but Gloria couldn't be reached and wouldn't return emails or calls until I said if I didn't hear from her I would report her business to the BBB. We eventually heard back and Gloria responded by saying the movers have the right to review and give their input. I'm sorry but the people who broke MY stuff get to have an input? Well as expected they paid nothing for our couches and grill and said that the movers said my couches were in poor condition to begin with. I'll attach pictures below and you tell me if these look like they are in poor condition. They completely lied to justify not paying for the broken items because they were pissed. They had no intention of paying for the damage. Gloria's excuse was that she already gave us monies for the damage in the original invoice. Only she never told me about this at the time of payment. We looked back at the invoice and there was a $175 discount for damaged items. Which by the way is nowhere near enough for what they damaged. 2 $800 couches and a $900 Weber grill. We can't use our grill and we donated our couches because they were not usable. So $175 doesn't even come close to helping us pay to replace these items. Why make us do the claim in the first place? Moving is already stressful and when you have a company like Mother and Sons that was completely unprofessional, rough, crude and disrespectful it made the day 100 times more stressful. I'm pregnant and I was so stressed that day, we spent $1300 to be threatened and yelled at, have broken furniture, items left wherever they felt like leaving them, had to spend another $200 for another truck and move the remaining items ourselves. I was quoted $447 for a two person 3 hr move. On the day of the move one of the movers told us that he was having back issues and a pinched nerve and hence brought another guy to help. We witnessed him sitting in the truck several times while the rest of them helped with the move.The move was average pace ( but I have no issues with that , they were careful moving items ) but after the move was done I was charged an extra $150 for the additional guy they called to help the guy with the back issues. I very seldom write reviews online but I wanted to red flag other people that beware of your initial "quote" it seems to be a clickbait after which you end up paying more. I have had 5 major moves on my life with using movers to pack and move and this was my WORST experience ever. Her final bill was $1300 over her estimate. They had issues with getting rental trucks and a LATE start to packing and loading trucks. Many of furniture items were scratched and or damaged that had to be thrown out. I have drawers that no longer close properly. I received a whole $45 check for the damage that does not even come close to be able to repair or replace those items. 1 lamp that had to be thrown out cost over $150 from crate and barrel and I received $6 for the damage of not packing properly. The guys were a great group of guys meaning well.. but she should not offer packing up a house as one of her services. It Doubled the time quoted to us. And she basically held me hostage till I paid a tip to a guy that i never saw and she wanted me to pay all guys the same tip when I felt all did NOT do the same quality of work and a tip is a favor not something required if less than desirable service. Only use if you want to pay over your estimate and have damaged goods delivered. read more

I found myself needing help moving late on a Friday night/ early Saturday morning. I was frantic and many places I reached out to were unable to accommodate my request even though my move was neither large or far. When I reaching out to Mother & Son's I was pleased to find that not only were they able to help me in a time frame that worked for me (that same Saturday), but my help was greatly professional and personable. This is not your typical company, the ownership and staff is well run and they are quick at what they do. My whole move took probably an hour and a half and I am forever thankful that I found them. What could have been the worst move of my life was changed when Gloria and her team helped us so much/ Gloria personally came to my house and while the men were moving out furniture she asked my wife how she could help her as she saw we were stressed and trying to finish last minute packing and cleaning. She opened up our frig and started to help pack it then even wiped out the inside and cleaned it for us. Everyone was so nice and they took very good care of our furniture. The initial draw for us was the price...very reasonable. Gloria worked around our schedule to set up a time. She told us she was sending Jarvis and Jonathan. Both men were consummate professionals. We could not be more impressed. They took such great care with our items and moved like lightening. Each time the truck was packed they made certain to secure all of our items. If I could leave ZERO stars, I would. I contracted with this M&S in August 2015, after being swayed by the "Mother" with her story on how she built her company from the ground up (blah, blah, blah). On the day of the move, they were a no show at the contracted hour and then reached out to my storage company to request after-midnight access without informing me first. I told them they would NOT be moving me after midnight and they needed to find an alternate solution since I had a contract. They suggested another mover with whom they send their overflow work, and who was able to move me on the following day. I was told he would honor my contract with them to the letter. Cornerstone Movers was the company, and I worked with Jose, the owner, to schedule the move for Sunday. His movers showed up and I gave them SPECIFIC instructions about one particular piece of furniture. Despite the warning - ultimately - they broke it in front of me. I tried to get repair from Cornerstone and heard nothing. I've not tried to get some compensation from M&S and they also have NOT made this good. I have waited this long to post my review to see if they would do something to honor my contract, but no luck!. STAY AWAY from this mover - unless you want horrible service, a company that no-shows, a company that works with other sub-par companies, and a company that doesn't make things right. Truly, go with Land O Lake movers, which is what I should have done! read more

Moving sucks. Movers, in general, suck. I've moved three times in the last year locally and interstate. This review is for a same day move.I was present at the departure and final destination on the same day. I was wary because I've been nickle and dimed while my stuff is on the truck and I have no control, I've been given estimates only to have that change in the middle of the move, etc. etc. Here's what you want in a mover: 1) Get a phone estimate, list what you have. Be honest. 2) Make sure they do a walk through of your place. If things take longer than expected, its on them as they had ample time to assess the place 3) Have a contact in the business who is not involved in the physical move. The conductor. 4) Have payment expectations in advance. Gloria is the conductor of this business. She works her tail off. She's old school and will work hard for you. She is HONEST. She did all of the above. The movers she sent me worked way longer than expected. She worked with me on this and did not cheat me (see #2 above). Her movers, John and Jonathan worked hard. They were kind and they wanted to help. We did not get everything done that we needed (two destinations, it was complicated) and my last destination had building restrictions, but they tried to help me nonetheless and set me up so I could easily finish what was necessary. This company is honest and consists of real, hard working people who care That's all you can ask when you're looking for a bargain while your boxes hold you hostage. The one star review below?
